Your charging system isn't charging. Has to be either the stator (charge coils) or the reg/rectifier. I can e-mail you the manual pages for those test if you would like me too.

ac300ga,

I am willing to bet that you're voltage regulator is pooched. I have the exact same problem with mine. When I talked with my local AC dealer they said that this model had a known issue with the voltage regulators in 2000 and early production 2001's.

DO NOT MESS AROUND!! I have a buddy with a 2000 that had this issue. He ignored it and not only melted the regulator down but also melted a hole about the size of a quarter in the CDI. Long story short, he has just received a bill for a little over $850 Canadian to replace the battery, voltage regulator and CDI box. Had he dealt with it when he first noticed it he probably would have saved himself the cost of the CDI ($585 CDN).

If you are unable to do the testing / diagnostics yourself, take it to the dealer. You may save yourself a pile of $$$$ in the long run.

Drew.
