Here's the scene, an abondend gravel pit with plenty of steep hills, big loose rocks, long straight lanes and steep hills with loose gravel, bright sunny day, no wind, warm, the perfect area and day to try different things on the new H1 to get a feel for her. I decided to put her through her paces on all of the differenr areas and then change some things and do it over again, just to see what works best for me. Does everyone follow me so far? Round 1- very much fun, work very well with the dealers settings for suspension. Let's grab the suspension tool and stiffen the suspension up a bit, that should be a little better for the side hill stuff. I'll just start with 1 notch first, !@#$%& I can't believe that Arctic Cat would give out such a piece of crap for a suspension wrench, I hardly even pulled and it snapped off clean, and I burnt myself on the exhaust as well, the day just got hotter. To make matters worse, when I got home I still wanted to stiffen them up so I grab my channel lock pliers and got ready to give it some torque. To my surprise they turned fairly easily which makes me more mad that the supplied wrench would break so easily on something that did not require that much torque to turn in the first place. All in all, those old gravel pits are a blast to ride no matter what you ride.

What really gets me is it wasn't even the little lip on it to grab the slot that you would think would break first, NOOOOO, it was the damn HANDLE that broke!!!!

I weigh at least 350 lbs.(at least that is as high as my scale goes to) so I have all 4 as stiff as they go, because when I get moving around on that thing, the suspension tends to move a little as well.

Hey Shonk, I have heard of them but do they help alot or do they take away any ground clearence or do they have any negative effects at all. I have to justfy all my add-ons to the wife because she can't (won't) understand why I need all this stuff on a brand new machine.

Channel locks and WD-40 (nothing like a little lube) and taking the weight off the suspension helps alot.

Sounds like we&39;re married to the same woman BR>
· do they help a lot
IMO the biggest bang for the buck. Improves, sidehilling, front roll/pushing in a turn, hill climbing, improves rear end droop
· do they take away any ground clearence
Improves the ground clearance
· or do they have any negative effects at all.
Maybe in extreme rock climbing or mud but I&39;m not there. Also the instructions suck

Sell safety Also for years my lovely wanted a rock garden so now that the day are getting longer I take off to the foothills and bring back a few rocks should be done in a year or two.
Keep that stick on the ice and keep a eye on frame had my replaced.

I must be very lucky. My wife never whines about my buying stuff for my toys. Half the time, whatever I get for my 400 I end up buying for her 250 (just had to get her a rack bag, fender bag, grip/hand protector sleeve mittens and had to add a holster to the tank bags for her 357 Mag). Hell, the 250 has more mods than the 400 ever will, just so she can have an easier time riding. Seems the same deal applies to her gun collection. Half the guns I bring home, expecially if they are fancy or real pretty, she inspects them, then smile sweetly and says "Thank you, I really like my new gun.".

when i first bought mine in 2002, the shocks wouldnt work for anything, dealer said to lift it and try. didnt work either, so i took it in and they tried it at the dealer. no good, so they ordered me some new ones. the new ones worked for a while then dirt and sand gets in there after while and so i lube it and snap the teeth off. arctic cat needs a better tool to turn the shocks or a better designed shock adjustment. i just got mine back last week because of the shocks and other minor stuff. i remember them telling me when i bought it, 'You can adjust the shocks on the trails'. well i dont carry an atv lift every where i go. and if they tell me to lift it, then they need to design it better than what they have now. i dont like paying 6 grand plus $500.00 for a 4 yr. warrenty for something that dont work.

Haha! I was hoping I wasn't the only one!
I did the same thing the other day with my Dad's 650 V2.
The Handle broke and my hand got jammed back there pretty good and got all cut up.
My Dad fixed it later with some pliers though, and now we keep them under the seat instead of the tool.

At least it was your wrench! One of the teeth on the shock itself broke off of mine! Of course stupidly my girlfriend was sitting on it, not that shes fat, 130lbs, but thats enough i guess to break it. Follow Bears post like i should have !

Come on, its a flaw, but what about the reat of the machine? was it equally as bad?

I had the same problem when i had my AC. The sweet wrench bent like it was plastic. If i were to buy another AC i'd just go and buy a nice adjust ment tool.
I had my suspension all the way up in the front and one notch from all the way in the rear and it was great. And i weight about 160.
But it depends i just didn't want mine to role in the corners and dive on the breaks.

how do you guys have your suspension set? I have my fronts turned up one notch from the stock setting and the back turned down one setting. What about you?
