The 2004 lower air box (which the carbs attach to), carbs and the intake hoses to the heads are the same. The top of the air box and the air diverter before the air box are different. Go here to see the difference:

Why don't you look in the above link for the carbs and see if the jets are the same or not.

I am on the fence between a new 2005 650 v2 and 2006 v2, is ther any difference in the intake and air cleaner system used in the 04's? I helped modify a friends 04, that system was bad, but we got him up to 135 jets with the VDI intake kit.
I am hoping they modified the system to be like the nwer prairie type design. I joticed that on the VDI site they show the intake system for the 2004 only.

By the way the reason I have to get a new quad is myslef and five buddies had all our trucks, trailers and quads stolen in Quebec. Don't go ther if you can help it.

That is strange, according to the microfiche says 122 in 05 and 120 in 06. It appears that they opened up the intake a little. I guess if no one has any first hand experience I will just have to dig into it after I buy it.
Someone on this forum must have played with the intake tube or airbox assm.

The 05 has 115 stock jets where the 04 has 122's. I played with the intake a smidge on mine, putting the 04 intake on my 05 and it didn't really do anything. In spring I plan on going with the vdi snorkel.

Get the 06 for gearing reasons. They changed this year to 4:1 which fixed belt and tranny issues with the V2. I have an 06 and have zero problems with it
