I THINK THERE SHOULD BE ONE PERSON IN CHARGE!!!!

THIS PERSON GETS OUR EMAILS AND LETS US KNOW WHEN SOMETHING IS COMING UP.
ASLO IN THE SUBJECT BOX NEEDS TO TYPE SOMETHING LIKE 4-WHEELER TRIP SO WE DON'T DELETE IT LIKE IT'S JUNK MAIL.
JUST AN IDEA

The way this is going, we're going to need a parade permit to get all these wheelers together in one spot !!! Keep me in the loop, I've got a goofy work schedule, but this will be worth some days off if needed !!

Posted by: deanz400

scooter 1967 I live in silver lake by Hutchinson Mn ,
after may i'm open schedule right now .
have some atv training in april to give and Army Reserves in may when i'm gone but will try to work some dates out .

Posted by: deanz400

also depends on the type of trails depends on which wheeler I'll bring ,really slow trails i'd bring my polaris ,but faster trails i'd bring my Z400.so thats something else to decide .

how would Labor Day weekend sound to everyone? it is a long weekend so that means one more day of riding and usually it is very nice out and everyone wants to do this kind of stuff during that weekend anyways just to get away and get into the great outdoors. oh and my e-mail is weez440@yahoo.com. and should we post this in other parts of this forum like the yamaha polaris honda well all of them so anyone that wants to go can. and if we get enough people together maybe there is some kind of fundraising we can do for like atvam or something to keep our sport going like everyone kick in 5 bucks make this a yearly thing. if we get enough people together might do some good for atving specially in minnesota.

Posted by: deanz400

if we get this figured out early enough we could even turn it into a relly big ride

Posted by: v2rider

Labor Day Weekend would work for me. And I think you are right weez. If we all donated a few bucks to improving, and developing new ATV trails in Mn, it would benefit all of us

Posted by: WhoDatInDaMud

FYI - Last I checked there wasn't a open campground or hotel available (was looking last october) for the 2006 labor day weekend anywhere near Gilbert. We have to pay a deposit to get a camp site a year in advance up there. We do - so its not a problem but others are going to find it difficult on that weekend. Labor day, 4th of July and Memorial day - all pretty well booked well in advance for lodging. Alternately would be to look at non-holiday weekends. But lodging anywhere near Gilbert is tight. They closed the Biwabic Inn, and the Aurora hotel was closed for a while. It might be again open but thats like 30 miles from the OHV park. There were also some hotels in Virginia but we found those pretty booked up also - the ones still open.

The campground connected to the OHV park is hopelessly booked - I heard two years in advance.

Another idea is to link into the ATVAM connection as I believe they setup over-flow camping that can accomidate everyone - primative but somewhere to park. Or so I heard.

Posted by: scooter1967

ya.....we realy need a non holiday weekend.
most holiday weekends are with family and inlaws.

i would love to see trails that go from town to town like the snomobile trails do.

since 4-wheelers are used more we should be able to get help with that.

Posted by: Chumley

I think having a weekend campout over Labor Day would RULE. I think instead of trying to find campgrounds, we should look for some time of event location. Perhaps there is a fairgrounds close? I have been very active in motorcycling and we used to hold our yearly event (about 1500 people) at a fairgrounds. I think this could be an amazing weekend if planned well.

Perhaps there should be a committee of sorts in charge of this instead of a single person. Even if it is small, having several people would make it a lot easier to get things done.

Posted by: DeeDawg

weez - I'm pretty sure I can't make the ride Labor Day week-end, but may be able to go for a putt later in the month. Anyone else up for a ride in the woods?

Posted by: Catterman

Thanks for the emails so far, I just picked up an ATV map from the DNR office not too long ago, once we get unpacked (and I find it!) we can start looking at an exact spot where to ride. Holidays are hard I think, as there are a lot of family things going on. This weekend I will get some dates picked out and we can vote on what would work the best. This will be fun!

Posted by: deanz400

I'm open for a trail ride any time , I'll help where i can . deanz400@hotmail.com just let me know

Posted by: weez440

whatever help you need catter just e-mail me and yeah labor day would be awesome but mabye it would be best to pick another weekend so there will be less traffic and so people can spend time with their family's but i guess we will have to vote like catterman said.

Posted by: Catterman

Thanks for the offers of help! I will take you guys up on it as we get more into the actual details. I am checking in at work, our home Internet should be up tomorrow and then give me another 2 days to configure it and I should be able to send out a group email to everyone on Sunday with some options that we can vote on.

GOt it, today/tonight I will send out the email, and post it here too... More later

Posted by: Catterman

Hey ATV Connection riders, here is the first official email for our summer get together in Minnesota. (I just am copying it here) We can start some planning here, and try to narrow down a few choices. Here is who I have so far…

1. weez440 weez440@yahoo.com
2. Blue One brianteske@aol.com
3. V2rider (STILL NEED YOUR EMAIL)
4. 95wolv (STILL NEED YOUR EMAIL)
5. DeeDawg (probably can't make it this year) (STILL NEED YOUR EMAIL)
6. scooter1967 scooter@uslink.net (has 3 others interested too)
7. deanz400 deanz400@hotmail.com
8. Catterman gabearntson@hotmail.com
9. Chumley cmertens@computerexpressmn.com
10. gymppi gymppi@charter.net
11. ANYONE ELSE?????????????

I am working on a spreadsheet, and should get that out soon. I will email it to everyone, and then you just email it back to me with what works out for you. Then I will compile everyone&39;s and send it out again. We can repeat this process until everything is planned. Here are some preliminary choices. And go here http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/ohv/index.html to check out more options.

1. Spider Lake
2. Soo Line South
3. Gilbert
4. Other???

We have people interested in this event from all over the state of MN (and even someone in WI), so we might want to pick a central location. We could make a day trip, camp out, or stay at a hotel. I know money is always a factor too. As one other suggestion, if we do something close to the St Cloud area my wife okayed it for everyone to crash at our place – all you would need is a sleeping bag, and I know Chumley and V2rider live close by as well. We have a big house, and 3 acres if people wanted to just tent it in our back yard as well. Again, I will put this all on the spreadsheet.

As far as dates, here are some weekends I was thinking about. July 22-23; August 12-13; 19-20; 26-27; September 16-17. Again, look for it on the spreadsheet.

It was also suggested that we donate a few bucks to a worthy ATV cause, any suggestions???

Finally, if you didn&39;t get this email, I still need your address. Check above to see who&39;s I am still missing.

Later dudes,

Gabe

The only bad thing is there is no public place to ride near St Cloud. =/

EEEK!! JULY!!?! So far away =(

Fly away fly away, soon and very soon !!!

ARE PEOPLE MAD AT ME??? ..OOPS!!

ok....i was just jokeing this time..lol hahahha.

i use cap locs alot just easier to read and don't have to worry about capitalizing certain words.
see ya on the trip..
hopefully it will be at SPIDER LAKE!

Posted by: v2rider

Just so everyone knows, i have been to Spider Lake about 32 times, and i know that area like my house. I can literally draw all of the ATV trails on a piece of paper, and all 11 hunting spots that my family uses up there. (We deer hunt, and grouse hunt there every year) In an 8 hr day, you can ride every atv trail at Spider Lake. It is a good time though! They have a rock challenge for jeeps that my Uncle rolled his dirt bike down. They closed all gravel pits, I know because i was up there 2 weeks ago. The trails are easy rides, nothing challenging, but fun forest rides. Anyway, if anyone has questions about Spider Lake, I can probably answer them.

Posted by: Catterman

What is everyone's budget for this ride? This could play into if we need to crash somewhere for the night, or just make it a day trip.

V2, how far is Spider Lake from St Cloud?? I am too lazy right now to do a mapquest.

Also, what big town is Gilbert located by?

Chumly is right, St. CLoud has no good riding areas, however we the Soo Line trail is only 30 minutes away, so that isn't too bad.

Another thing, who has trailers, and we should look at car pooling.

I got the spreadsheet done, will send it out tonight when I get home.

BlueOne, your email got bounced back to me, could you resend me your address?

Thanks everyone!!!!!

Posted by: Chumley

Money isn't a big deal to me, as I would rather camp somewhere if it turns into an overnighter anyway. I have a truck & potential to borrow a 2 spot trailer from a friend. I would possibly have two wheelers with me, so that would leave room for one in the box of the truck, preferably a sport quad for weight. If it turns out to be just me, I would gladly loan out the empty spots to whomever needs a ride.

I haven't been to spider lake, but several of my friends have said it has gone downhill lately. No mud, just a lot of sandy water. sand + motor= bad

I will ,however, go anywhere in the state if the schedule works out for me.

Posted by: deanz400

hey V2rider .do you mean the sand pits on the north end of spider ?
SPIDER is like AN HOUR AND A HALF north of St .Cloud ,

as for trailers i have a 3 place trailer that will have an empty spot I live down by Hutchinson Mn .and [possible one more in my truck } depends if i bring my camper . my 17 year old son is going to join us also ,heck of a rider he keeps up with me ,no problem .

Posted by: deanz400

Say catterman do we have a head count yet , if not everybody should let him know how many people there bringing . I have 2 so far .

Posted by: weez440

gilbert is right next door to eveleth that is about the biggest town in the area. and i will be taking my truck but i doubt anyone will be from up in my neck of the woods to carpool with well i will probably be bringing a couple ppl with wheelers with me.

Posted by: gymppi

If anybody is coming from WI I am happy to carpool with them, although I only have a single place trailer. If somebody wants to provide a larger trailer I have a truck that will tow whatever.

Posted by: v2rider

There is Camp sites at Ogechie Lake, right of the Soo Line Trail (south soo line). Also, a place i go is Palisade, which has plenty of campsites, but that is the soo line north trail a little farther away, closer to Aitkin. Also, Spider Lake is between 1 to 1.5 hours from St Cloud, depending on how you drive. I think someone might have posted this, but not sure. Money is no issue. I have a truck, but no trailer. I could carpool someone with a two place trailer with my truck

V2RIDERwas up there several times last year I thought they made some trails better and they did close off others but all together great riding . Have you ever explored farther north of HWY 2 i believe ? that is my plan this summer . well till we ride happy trails , depending on the weather I'm probly going to head down to the TRI- County pit .on sunday .later

Posted by: v2rider

There is an area that is beautiful. Its a large campsite next to Cut Lake, which is down 2, past the large sand pit about 2 more miles, on the left hand side. Its a gravel road. It dead ends at the lake, and is an awesome spot for a large group of ATV's

Got it!

Posted by: Mudpuppy193

Hey guys I thought I would just throw some info about Gilbert in for you.. I went up there last spring and had a great time (see pics in my profile). We saw the whole park in a day but there is more than enough riding to be done in the park and not get bored in a weekend. I met up with a local (that I met in the where to ride forum) and he showed us the area. We stayed at Koke's motel in Eveleth and it was like 35 a night for 2 people and it was nice- not fancy but a nice place to stay. We rode right from there to the park in Gilbert and it seemed kinda sketchy with where we had to ride to get to the park but on the way back we got stopped by a DNR warden and he had no problem with where we were riding/going so it must have been ok. I think I would trailer to the park next time because we broke stuff in the park and it wasn't fun limping back. There is some pretty extreme stuff to do in the park so the advanced rider as well as the novice would have good time. There were a bunch of inexpensive looking motels in the area and according to the local guy there are a bunch of other places to ride in the area- nothing offical I guess but they are open to ATV riding in the area as long as you don't create too much of a ruckus. I am heading back out there in the middle of May again because I enjoyed the change of scenery and it is a "cheap" vacation. I am sure you would have a good time if you all met up over there....

Matt

Posted by: v2rider

Im heading up to Palisade tonight guys! Were going to ride the 148 mile soo line north ATV trail system this weekend. Let ya know how it goes, and mabey i can finally post some pics. See Ya Later!

Posted by: v2rider

Well, the AC proved itself in the mud, and i even took a rock challenge at a gravel pit. It was a tually broken up tar chunks from an old road, which really put the irs, and ifs to work, not to mention the diff lock! It wasnt by any means easy, but it was fun! I did get stuck twice, once in a mud hole, and once in a marshy area that was flodded over. But my buddy was with me so we could winch each other out. It was a blast!!!

Posted by: Catterman

Great pictures Matt!

V2rider, hurry up and upload yours!

Posted by: Cutfoot

How is the Soo Line ride? I live about 10 miles north of it where it crosses Hwy 169. Never rode it, assumed it was a boring ride. The people I ride with are mostly sport quad riders.

Posted by: DeeDawg

I recently heard from some relatives that all ATV trails on State and Federal land would be closed in the southern part of the state, yet would remain mostly open in the northern part. Any of ya&39;ll have any word on this?

There is truth to the boring part, but not if you leave Palisade, heading north, and take the first trail on your right, which goes back into gods country, but bring someone else with you, cause the mud hole in some spots are 5ft deep! Its a hell of a work out if you just keep going on the trail system back there. Also, heading south on the soo line, there is a set of large gravel pits on the right side which are alot of fun. We got a good 8 hrs of non stop riding in!

Hey.. sorry about the blank space...

I've been reading this forum.. I actually ride the Gilbert ATV park often.. it's a blast. Lot's of challanging things to do up there.

Keep it posted as to what date this will happen.. I can be up there for sure.

Alright, looks like August 12-13 works for all so far. Here is the update, now we need to figure out a place. I hope this works, I just copy and pasted from Excel... But so far it looks like a close tie between Gilbert and Spider Lake.
Feedback is welcome!!! And if you know of a place we could all crash that would be great too.

We will definitely have to go for a putt. Can&39;t say an exact date right now, but should be able to narrow it down prior to flying up there. How busy are you mid-week? It would probable be better for me on the week-end so my brother(s) can go as well.

Posted by: MNWolverine01

Hey guys,

I don't read the cat forum much so i missed this thread. Anyway count me in forsure if you choose to go to gilbert. Otherwise it is iffy, unless i buy a truck in the mean time. I see catterman is doing a good job organizing. If you do go to Gilbert I would also be willing to play tour guide, because I am that local that mudpuppy was talking about in a earlier post. I am even in one of his pictures. Anyway Catterman, send me an email if you could rjoffayal@hotmail.com Just let me know what is up either way, cause i like to meet people and ride

Posted by: weez440

hmmm it maybe would be a good idea if you guys wanted more people to spread it to other parts of atv connection unless you guys want to keep it smaller and welcome aboard mnwolverine.

Posted by: Catterman

Email to come this weekend! Got ya MNwolverine01. We will then vote on the final spot, looks like it is Gilbert or Spider Lake. We will go with whatever more people can make it to. So, start thinking!

Posted by: MNWolverine01

Sweet,

Just let me know. I am picking up a new wheeler in the next week or 2 when I make a choice on which model. Though I wish I still had my wolvy

Posted by: gymppi

Am I the only person coming from Wisconsin or are there others as well??

Posted by: weez440

you know mnwolverine if you wanna go on our atv trip you gotta buy an arctic cat. lol can't hurt to try to get another guy to buy a cat

QUOTE by weez 440: when you come home are you done with your duty in iraq?

I believe this is my last time over here, but who knows? We are scheduled to deploy to Japan next year, but that could always change. Given the chance, I would come back over here instead. I don't save any money while in Japan; it's too expensive and I party too much. The last time I was there a pint of Guinness was $9.00, and gas was about the same price for a liter that we pay for a gallon. Plus, no combat pay!!!!

Sorry, no cats for me. I would look like a hippocrit after years of making fun of my buddies driving cat sleds, ( and blowing them up ) Anyway I am still in deciding mode, so we will see what happens.

I vote a camp out!!!!!!!

I'll camp out ,

Posted by: Catterman

Alright dudes, here is the message I sent out on email...

Alright guys, looks like it is August 12 weekend up at Spider Lake. Some of you have been there before, so could you recommend a good spot to meet/stay? How many are in for sure? Please send numbers, feel free to invite anyone even if the ride non-arctic cats. Also remember that we are representing all ATVers, so we will be sure to ride responsible, no drinking (after we are done riding and are relaxing for the night then it is alright – if you are of age), and be sure to wear appropriate head gear. Any other supplies we need??????? Know a good campground or place we can pitch tents?

Posted by: weez440

dang dee 9 dollars for a bottle of guiness? that stuff isn't worth 9 cents a case in my books lol but i can see how that would hurt the ole pocket book. i heard froma guy that was stationed over there that american vehicles are really desired and go crazy. i heard that my truck would fetch like over 100,000 is that true? if i had the choice of looking at beautiful asian women or looking at sand i think i would take the beautiful asian women even though it is more expensive. heck i would just love to go to another country other then canada, don't get me wrong i like canadians and them french canadian women are HOTTTTT but it is cold there like it is here. oh and don't tell my gf i been checking out the french canadian women she hits hard.

Posted by: FastestBlaster

your all lucky you all live so close and mostly have arctic cats haha i dont really live near that many people to go riding with around here cept a few friends lol

Posted by: 95wolv

Just an update on my side, I will probably be riding solo, my son will be at his mother's through most of August, so if anyone wants to trailer pool, I can haul an extra quad with mine, and I have a tent, so I will be camping, also. And sorry, no Cat from me, just the Wolverine !!!

Posted by: weez440

hey fastest why don't you start a thread like i did, you would be suprised the number of people who respond to it. i think it was about 4 days after i first posted it that people started replying and we all started talking on here and we all got to know each other pretty good and i realized this is a great bunch of guys who i would like to go wheeling with. oh and i got my new dirtbike helmet today in the mail and it is a pretty blue helmet to match my pretty lime green wheeler

Posted by: coyote081

well ill be there but ill probably camp in akley since all my stuff is already up there so what time do you plan on starting the ride on sat the 12 it will be me my mom and my step dad oh ya ond my girl friend she is thinking about getting the new 650 cat the orange one she said she likes the color lol

Professional drinkers will tell you that Guinness is the nectar of the Gods!!!!!

I hadn&39;t heard that American vehicles are highly desired over there unless they are a classic.

There are some very beautiful women in Japan just like any other country, even here in Iraq!!!! You just have to look harder to find them here!!! Actually, I have been to more countries than we have states, and there are beautiful women in every one of them. Even the very poor countries I&39;ve been to like Somalia has beautiful women.

You should collect one from each country.

Hey, anyone know of a good campground? We also need to get a hard count of who is coming. It might just be me, as my wife is pregnant and I don't know if riding around all day in the heat will be good for her... And someone has to watch our little boy.

95wolv, where is Darwin located??? If you are coming from the south maybe I could catch a ride. Or v2, maybe you could swing by my way too. I can help pitch in a couple of pesos for gas too.

Posted by: v2rider

Hey catterman, i will have to see if my buddy is FOR SURELY making it, if not i would have no prob picking you up on the way through. I have a reg cab truck, so its hard to ride three people But i cant complain because the truck is free, with free insurance, and free gas for work from the construction company i work for. Also there are alot of camp sites in spider lake, some of them are fairly large. We shouldnt have a problem

Posted by: 95wolv

Catterman,
I'm straight south of St. Cloud on Hwy 15, I come right through there whenever I go to Spider Lake, so you would be right on my way there. I have a 7.5 x 12 trailer, so I have plenty of room for even a big Cat on back !!

Posted by: Catterman

A good deal BR>
Hey v2, do you have the names of the campgrounds? I can call then and reserve.

Posted by: deanz400

hey catterman the campgrounds in Spider are first come first to camp. north side of spider off hwy 2 is a sand pit with a good size camping area .

Off of the same road, i think down the road a half mile is another pit with a giant water hole. But the camp ground posted above would be the best site.

Okay, so there is no reservations needed, it is just a first come first get spot huh. That should work out great. DO you have directions for all of us, so we can find it? Like a mapquest address?

Posted by: v2rider

From Motley, take hwy 64 north to county rd 2 (approx 30miles) and turn right, or east. I think its about 5 miles on the right, you cant miss it, there are two gravel pits on the right, just look for all the vehicles, its right off the road. I will try to get it in more detail.

Posted by: Catterman

Thanks v2.

Lets try and get a hard count for how many people we can expect by next week. So post if you know you can or can't make it.

If your in low, thats normal. If your in high, check your belt Otherwise, a dynatek cdi is about 200 bucks, a K&N filter is about 50, and other little knickknacks will pop up on the way.

Don't worry V2, C is in too!

Posted by: v2rider

Yessssss!!!!

Posted by: weez440

yeah don't worry v2 you got your tittie whitties to keep you warm and hmmmmm catterman and v2 in the same tent? oh i think i gotta go now. and if you are only getting 48 out of your v2 top end then something is seriously wrong cause mine out of the crate did 68 in excellent giongs. it averaged about 65 in looser gravel. with a clutch kit and my big heavy tires i can still average about 62 mph. if you are in high range then i would say something is goofy with your clutching or more then likely just the belt. v2 said the good upgrades to get a dynatek cdi is an absolute must you won't know the machine back and you can get an k&n airfilter like v2 said and also speedwerks has an aftermarket pipe you could check into. oh and epi has a great clutch kit get the pink primary and black secondary clutch and it makes it just that much more snappier on bottom end.

Posted by: Chumley

I'm pretty sure that I am in too. I also have a truck and can more than likely get my hands on a trailer as well.

I have to say Mauritius, and not just because my wife is from there!!!! And before I get a whole bunch of questions; Mauritius is a very small island country in the Indian Ocean, East of Madagascar. I was stationed there, and that is where I met and married my wife. We don't have any bases there, nor do we train there, I was working at the American Embassy.

Also; FYI.....I am back!!!! Just arrived last night!!!

Posted by: weez440

YEAH!!!!!! wb dee glad you are back stateside and hmmm i never heard of that place, gonna have to check it out on the net. and ok v2 if i brought my makeshift clutch compressor i would have new spring in in about ohhhh i say 45 min lol

Posted by: Catterman

I have had some requests for getting there Friday night, and some for Saturday AM

WOuld you guys rather

1) Show up Friday whenever, and start riding the ATV's bright and early on Saturday or

2) Arrive Saturday AM, unload everything, and be ready for all of us to ride at Noon.

3) Some come Friday, some come Saturday, with the official ride starting at noon on Saturday.

Any thoughts?????

It is coming up fast!!!!

QUOTE by weez440: YEAH!!!!!! wb dee glad you are back stateside and hmmm i never heard of that place, gonna have to check it out on the net.

Thanks weez. Are we still on for the 26th? That is really the only week-end I can make it.

Posted by: v2rider

I will be there at about 6am Saturday. If it takes me till noon to ride, im to old to be there, and im still in my twenties

Posted by: weez440

hey dee i'm sorry i thought i told you before but maybe it slipped my mind. my girlfriend and i have to go to a darn wedding in wadena that weekend she said that i can skip it and go with you but well i know what that would mean her driving down 3 hours by herself and being there all weekend by herself and a 3 hour drive back by herself well my life would be miserable for a while if i did that to her so i guess i gotta go to the wedding.

Posted by: deanz400

Hey Catterman why don't we make the official start time at Noon saturday and then if some body gets there earlier we still could do some earlier riding .

Posted by: Catterman

Sounds great, noon on Saturday is the official start time. Those who come early will ride away and meet back at the camp to meet up with the others.

v2, I am still in my 20's too!! For another 6 months anyway And how eairly are you leaving to get there at 6am!

Posted by: DeeDawg

weez; good to go. If you can make it during the week, that would work, too.

Posted by: v2rider

I guess i dont need to get there at 6am, but at any rate, its about 1hr and 45min from me. Probably 1hr 25 for you catterman. Your only like three months apart from me! I turn 30 on April 20th.

Posted by: Catterman

Hey, that is pretty close. BR>
Who has tents or whatever??? I suppose we need some wood, food, lights, etc...

It looks like the wife isn't going to come, so I will probably ride up with 95wolv or v2, depending on when you guys are planning on leaving.

Posted by: Chumley

If noon is the 'official' start time, what time are we really going to get there? 9am?

I told the wife the other day that I was going for sure and she didn't argue, so I guess I can come. =D

Is there anyone anywhere near Alexandria that needs a ride?

Posted by: 95wolv

I've got some wood I split last year, should be good for camping, I can bring a couple of wheel barrow loads and still have room for my quad and a one more, if you're still looking for a ride, Catterman. Have we decided on an exact meeting place for camping? There is a large pit just off Highway 2, there are a lot of nice sites right by Spider Lake, if you take the road off 64, I think it's like 36th street, or 34th street, been a while since I was up there. Or there are some camping sites north of 2 by another small lake, we should get one spot set up to meet, or start setting up tents,so we have an area set up to make sure we have a base camp to gather at after riding and such. If we're going to camp, I'd just as soon get there Friday night, set up, eat and get a good night's sleep so I can keep up with all the young pups riding, sounds like I might be the old man of the group so far, I'm 45 !!.

Sorry, guys, looks like I'm out for the ride, I was finishing up some work on my Wolverine, had a bad bearing on the side cover for the centrifical clutch, thought that was a source of a noise in my motor, but got it running, and there is a scuffing sound coming from the bottom end of my motor, and I don't have the time or the money to be tearing into the motor at this time. I will try to take it to the dealer to see exactly what the problem is, but I doubt I'll be riding any time soon. I will keep you updated if anything changes. Sorry for the short notice.

Oh sorry to hear that. Keep us posted and it would be great if you can make it.

Weez, it seems to be pretty close to Pequot Lakes, Pine River, and Backus.

Once again, the campgrounds in Spider are first come first to camp. We will be at the north side of spider off hwy 2 (south side of hwy 2) in a sand pit with a good size camping area.

DIRECTIONS: From Motley, take hwy 64 north to county rd 2 (approx 30miles) and turn right, or east. About 5 miles on the right, you cant miss it, there are two gravel pits on the right, just look for all the vehicles, its right off the road. I will try to get it in more detail.

PEOPLE COMING FOR SURE:
Catterman 1
DeeDawg 2 or 3
deanz400 2 or 3
Scooter1967 4
Chumley 1
v2rider 1

I also invited some friends from Arctic Chat, so there might be a few from there as well.

Who all has tents or campers to sleep in???? I might need to shack up with someone too BR>
Official start time is noon on Saturday, anyone going early to start riding??? v2, if it is still alright I might have you pick me up. I can be set to go anytime on Saturday.

My tent is big enough to hold two queen size air mattresses, and my wife is most likely not coming. Did you find yourself a ride yet catterman? If needed I can probably swing through St Cloud.

Looks like I'm out guys ... sorry. I've got a friend that is shipping out for the National Guard on that weekend. Hopefully catch you guys for a ride next time!

You are ditching me for someone else!!! After all the help I have done for you...

just kidding, no biggie. BR>
Chumley, I did get a hitch on my car, but it works hard pulling the ATV. Maybe I could meet you in Alex and load up my H1 on your setup and carpool the rest of the way. We can split the gas then too. Let me know if this works for you.

BTW catter- are we going Friday night or Sat morning?

Posted by: Chumley

Oh yeh, one more thing. I heard a rumor that much of spider lake was shut down, has anyone investigated how much of the park is open?

Posted by: v2rider

Only some of the OHV trails. I was up there, and all atv trails were open, but i will check to make sure.........

Posted by: v2rider

Updated 7/27/2006..........

Foothills state forest is open to OHV and ATV riders, but they must stay on the trails (duh). And on a personal note, no littering!!! I have to hunt in spider lake 3 times a year, and i hate picking up garabage

Posted by: Chumley

Thnx for the update v2.

How does Saturday AM sound? I can leave pretty early to meet you.

Looking at the map of Spider Lake, it looks like there are two gravel pits on the north end (south side of Hwy 2) are we going to meet at the east one or west one? Anyone who has been there have an idea as to what one is better?

Posted by: v2rider

I believe the east is better for camping, but both are suitable. The west one usually has the giant water hole where i pulled my buddies DS650 out of
