I do not have my service manual in front of me right now to quote verbatum what AC reccomends. But I have a 500 auto engine on my TRV and it has about 3500miles on it so far. Doing about the same as you have described (except Plowing snow). All I do is change the spark plug every 12 months. Check the valve clearence when I replace the spark plug and change the oil. I also periodically take the belt cover off to check the belt.
I have had zero problems. The AC auto tranny is rock solid. I do not bellieve there is any way of tightening belts excepts possibly shims? I always think my Auto is over revving as well after riding my manual tranny AC. I think it has to do with the rpms needing to be high to apply power at the clutch. Which I think accounts for the Auto's higher fuel consumption. The Auto clutch can be made to engage differently by messing with primary and secondary clutch springs. Never had a need to do this so I know it can be done but don't know how.

Guys I bought a 2003 AC 400 4x4 automatic. It's got about 500 miles on the odometer. Those miles have been some trails, some mud, and some towing a utility trailer. I bought it from my Dad and he did a full service on the engine last year but he didn't touch the tranny I don't think.
Seems like my tranny is slipping a little bit. It may just be my imagination, but it seems like when I really crack the throttle back the ATV doesn't accelerate at the same pace the engine is revving. Like I said, maybe it's just me. It sure takes a lot of throttle to equal accel. on this bike though.
But anyway....my question is, what service do I need to do to this tranny? Does it need to be flushed every time I ride through mud holes? Does it need any fluid changed yearly or anything like that? Any tightening of belts? I know nothing about these trannys. Thanks in advance for any advice...
