Hey Bro I have mine hooked so that I can control it, when I am riding on hot days I pretty much leave it on, but if needed I can shut it off, and if I forget to turn it on it will still come on by itself, I think that is what you want, I cant remember how I did it though, but I think I just spliced into one of the sensor wires, ran it to a switch, then spliced into the other wire and ran it to the other side of the switch, I know other people on here have done it also, so someone will correct me if I am wrong.

No problem, I didnt like hot hot it felt either, thats why I did it, and as an added benefit, on a cooler day you can also leave the fan on and get a bit of heat off the engine onto your legs. BUt let it heat up a bit first otherwise it takes longer to get hot enough.

Just install a jumper at the oil temp switch would be easiest. But why would you want it to run all the time? It will make the fan motor fail sooner, keep the engine oil to cool for best effeicency and be noisy.

I have an infared temp sensor I use and know that the engine temp is not always what it may seem. The exhaust pipe radiates a lot of heat. The fan isn't even suppose to come on until the oil reaches 320 degrees and shuts off at 284 degrees, that's only 36 degrees so it won't be on for long. This is why synthetic oil is so important in these engine to stand up to the heat. The temp will be higher with an air and oil cooled engine than with a water cooled engine. I've never seen the actual cylinder head get hotter than 350 degrees. Doobers switch deal is a much better way to go. But how do you know it is running hotter and if it is why?

What would be the easy way to hook up the cooling fan on a 04 400 to make it run all the time?Would it hurt anything?
Thanks

Bear4570,its running very hot now and it seems to cut off before it cools the oil down.

Bear4570,I see what your talking about I have a 650 which water cooled and it does run a lot cooler I guess that is why I think the 400 should run cooler.I will get a infared temp sensor and see what it runs this week end.Hey doober what your talking about sound like the best way to go if I need to.I will let you'll after this weekend how hot she runs. Thanks for all the advice doober & Bear4570
