DO NOT GET A DAYCO!!!!
They are junk, you cannot get them tight enough to do you any good,27" 589s will smoke that belt on the first mud hole.Did your buddy ever take any shims out of the secondary clutch? I had 2600 miles on my stock belt by properly shimming it,could have got more but it was a little while before I learned this and got a little slack at the end, smoked it,then said screw it and put in a Dayco.I had both shims out and it was still loose, didn't last 300 miles,as soon as the ground thawed out and I found some mud it was toast, you get what you pay for.
Go get a belt for the 750 Brute Force,it has the same # as the 650 cat belt but your dealer may have old stock and not have the new compound rubber.I put one in my bike after the Dayco with one shim and wow, talk about hook up!!!!!

How many miles do you have on it?Have you smoked that belt before. If you already have one shim out it may be the thin one and the thick one is still in it,you can trade them and see if that does the trick. You can try taking both out,if it doesn't creep along in gear and you can shift through the gears it shouldn't slip as easy.Try roughing up the sides of the belt with fine sandpaper, and the same with your primary sheaves.

unless going for speed all ways ride in LOW. only times i have burnt belts was in high. when trail riding on tight stuff or in the mud low is the only way.

yeah i fried two belts last year and thought i finally got everything all worked good but nope she wants to slip. you may be right i could take and see one day if i got the big shim in still that could possibly be it. i heard of people get a .06 mm shim and putting in and that is supposed to help. i could curse out the kawi clutch design again but everyone knows how much i hate this design. at least i learned a valuable lesson i will never own anything ever again that says kawasaki on it. and thanks heyyou

Dayco belts are junk. Have tried 6 of them (got what i thought was a good deal at the time) and all with the same result , SEVERE DISSAPPOINTMENT !!! Stick with the stock belt .

Buddy has a 04 650 AC, with 27 Itp 589's on it, has a spring in the clutch and that's it, belt is almost done as its starting to really slip. Was wondering what is the best belt for replacement.
Are the Dayco's any good and if so will the kawi specs match his. Are there any other company's that have good belts.
Thanks.

I have only heard good thing about the stock belts. My buddies with clutch kits and after market belts are always blowing them. I have 589's on my 650 with no clutch kit, and the belt has been fine.
