email them. i got a call the next day. or try calling.
1-218-681-4999 or 1-218-681-9799. one of the numbers only works once in a while. the other will work all the time but i forgot which is which. the email is: consumeraffairs@arcticcatinc.com
like i said. i emailed and told them the whole story of my problems. they handled it great, even called my dealer, and then found me a new dealer, set up an appointment and to have my machine picked up at my house!

I've had no problem with AC warranty. First the Low/High/Rev lever bolt came loose and repaired for free and a popped out of gear issue. Checked out by dealer, oil drained, engine and front and rear differentials; all covered under warranty

they changed your oil in your engine and front and rear diff under warrenty.
i find that hard to beleave.

when i had my front diff replaced and my rear axels (all 4).
2 axels once and one axel twice i had to pay for the oils every time because they said it wasn't coverd under warrenty.
the rest of your story i can beleave.

now for my story.
i had some troubles with getting the warrenty work done with my dealer.
my cat would sit there for weeks befor they did the warrenty work.
it seemed like all the people that were buying the new quads and wanting winches and other add ons came first and when it was slow they worked on mine and other warrenty work.
and i let them know that i payed for there service in advance so i should come first and not a guy wanting a winch put on his new quad.
thay are also a honda and kawasaki dealer and i give them alot of buisness.
and i let him know that there is other dealers out there that would be more then happy to get my buisness and if he wants to keep mine and everyone elses buisness he better make the custamer that has already payed happy or they might never come back.
and where i live everybody knows everyone and it dont take long befor word gets out.
and then its just a matter of time befor he dont sell sh!t.
anyways good luck with the warrenty work.

i just find that strange because i have two other friends with cats also and there are like me they had to pay for there fluieds also.
ac dose not cover any fluieds at all no matter what.
thats what they told me.
so if they did change your oils they did not charge ac they payed for it out of there pockets.
and if they did that then you got lucky.
how many other people got there oils changed for free when they took there quads in for warrenty work.
ill bet theres not too many if any at all.
and if there is let us know.

Chances are that dealer paid for the fluids out of pocket, A/C would not pay for the fluids but dealer can see it is cheaper and customer knows he is being helped.

Yeah, the AC warranty sucks. They will not pay for hardly anything. BR>
My 03 500i has had a noise in the front A frame since about 3 months old, They tell me it's normal and won't fix it.
I guess I should have keep my 1996 Polaris 300. It had on over 6000 miles and made less noise than my new AC.

I know I'll sure think twice before buying another AC. BR>

Well, I just sent AC an email. We'll see what happens now...

Posted by: Vmaxdlx

NeverSatisfied,

How do you like the 05 Yamaha?
Is it the one with independet supension in the rear?

I was looking at that one to replace the piece of Sh%& AC.

Posted by: Vmaxdlx

Well, it's kinda funny what a call from AC to a dealer will do. With in 2 hours of getting a email back from AC saying they were going to have the dealer call me to resolve the problem, the dealer called and set me up an apt. to come in.

It's in there now getting looked at and we'll see if they fix it this time or just give me a nother "it's normal" story!!

I'll keep you updated.

I've had no problem with AC warranty. First the Low/High/Rev lever bolt came loose and repaired for free and a popped out of gear issue. Checked out by dealer, oil drained, engine and front and rear differentials; all covered under warranty. I seem to see a pattern here where the dealer is lazy, stupid or just flat doesn't care to do their job. My dealer is the highest volume dealer in the state and does it right (that's why he has so many repeat customers from as far away as Alaska). rdavis, who told you AC says no warranty? If the dealer told you and you didn't check with AC youself then you need to do that. Vmaxdlx, I don't know about your noise being normal or not, but again who says that AC won't pay, the dealer? If so contact AC. You guys both sound like your dealers are worthless and you are to lazy to do more than take it to the them. You have a responsibility to do more if you think you got screwed, if you don't, you got what you deserve. So don't bitch about it until you do.

Do a search of the forum of "AC warranty" on the forum. the numbers have been published before. As to the number in the manual, never used it. There are people on here who work for AC or their dealers that have the numbers. Hopefully one of them will espond.

Something locked up and it was in 4 wheel low at the time. I mean tires stopped and all but killed the engine. Didn't want to go until after shut down and back into high range and then worked ok. Took it in and the tech did what he thought best, which was to check the lube in the engine/tranny and differentials for any pieces of metal. They found nothing and charged me nothing either. Then again I use a number #1 dealer in sales in the state and they get people to come back by treating them right. I will never buy another bike from anyone else or parts for that matter.

My 04 400 is in the shop right now for the same thing, they told me that my master cylinder was full of mud and water i dont think that could happen its going to cost me $97 for a new one. My brake was sticking on (the rear) I know its not used much but damn $97 plus 52 for labor

Posted by: m74me

Bear said he had a good dealer that takes care of him. Sounds like he is right on. Too bad other dealers aren't meeting the same standard of service. My dealer treats me well too. I keep going back.

A.C. warranty worked for me. Had a clutch problem at 900 miles 8 months old a.c. replaced faulty clutch not a problem also a bushing in steering post......... The rear foot brake doe's suck on the 04's I think ther only ment for a holding brake or emergency brake I never use mine anyway hand brake works fine.......Maybe a.c. cant fix that poor foot brake designe..... I had an 02 with there old cable foot brake and it didn't work much better.

rdavis,

I have a 2004 AC 500 Manual and it's the same. Rear brakes haven't worked since one. Haven't gone to dealer yet. Dealer that I purchased from hasn't been able to answer simple questions over the phone so he's out. I have located a competent dealer and I'm sure he will take of me but is 1 1/2 hours away. I'm waiting for my first scheduled maintenace. I'll let you know how I make out.

Vmaxdlx,

Yes it is the one with IRS. I actually bought it for my wife but use it more than she does. My main purpose for the machines was to be hunting. The Cat is great but a little large for the areas I play in. The old New England fields that have overgrown over many decades are really tight therefore the smaller machine gets through much easier. The auto is nice also. It handles much better with the tighter suspension it doesn't dip as much in the corners. Also the power to weight ratio near the same, I can't tell the difference. The other thing is I have a Ford Ranger which I had to build a cradle in to get the Cat over the wheel wells. The Kodiak fits between them. I must say that I won't get rid of the cat, it's a great machine for working around my place, hauling firewood, plowing, etc. Good luck.

yea it is MBullism. I'm actually moving shortly to the opposite side of Douglas. Bought a piece of land in Thompson, CT just out the other side of the state forest. ATV trails run right through it. One of the reasons I bought it. I'll have to figure out where they go then maybe we can get together for some riding.

Check your warranty papers, the two year extended warranty is not an AC warranty. The coverage is provided by GE. You need to show the paper work to the dealer in order to get warranty repair work covered. Be sure you have a record of all maintenance as they will require one that meets all AC specifications for both mileage and time.

Well, I can only respond now - since I had my first servicing done today where I bought my bike. I must say I was beginning to doubt the dealer, but today they restored all faith in my thinking.

I had complained about the following:
1) A torn decal when the bike was brand new - when I priced the decal I found it to be 42$ - so figured I had a right in complaining on a brand new machine.... never heard a reply from dealer - but when I took bike for first servicing - the decal had been ordered and was ready to be put on.

2) Shift linkage that didn't have bolt tightened down enough - dealer said this was from Arctic Cat directly, not something they work on when building machine. Again though - fixed and no questions asked, no charge - so I am assuming Arctic Cat Warranty covered it. Said he had never heard of this problem - but when I went to pick up bike, he said another customer phoned with EXACTLY the same problem - that makes me wonder whats going on at the factory though.

The only thing disappointing thing, was a 1/2 cm gash in the sidewall on my left rear tire, dealer found it and informed me - not his problem - I'm just glad he found it or I probably wouldn't have noticed until the bike was sitting on rim - I had him order me a matching tire.

I think it really can matter from dealer to dealer - I was beginning to wonder about mine and all faith has been restored.

Cheers Barnzilla

BR>I have a 2004 AC 500 4x4 auto that I dearly LOVE. EXCEPT...... the rear brake (pedal) does not and never has worked at all. My dealer said to bleed it-.....did that. Dealer said bring it in and then said that brake was poorly designed and will not work. Finally tried another dealer and am told that the rear master cylinder is bad, and apparently has been since day 1, and though I had a TWO year warranty included in purchase, AC says no on the warranty coverage. Anybody else had these kind of problems? This is an ongoing problem since the machine was new. I know of at least 6 AC's purchased around same time, same dealer, and none of them have functioning rear brake.

Please respond.

Thank You
rdavis

I told the dealer that I found contact information for customer service at AC and was placing a call to AC to raise all the issues with them, now the dealer is taking care of my problem. Funny how that works.
