The 2000 A/C 500 auto has 2X 4X but the manual shift is full time 4X.

u r right tricat catterman your dads must be a auto right?

Are you sure??? My dad has a 2000 Cat 500 Auto and that thing has the lever. I know Arctic Cat makes their own lever for the 250 to switch between 2 & 4 wheel drive. All thier other quads have had the lever on them already.

Gosh, are you sure it is a 2000? The lever is hard to miss, it would be on the left side (drivers side) front fender by the foot rest. It is black and you pull it out for 2wd and push it in for 4wd.
