My clutch won't come off!
I'm using the puller with the impact and following instruction right out of the service manual.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks sledman8002002.....I tried it an I can tell the oil was working because the puller wasn't threading in as deep as dry, but it didn't come off.
It's on tight! BR>
Anyone else have ideas?

Well, tried everything with no results!
Decided to run the belt over the secondary instead. I had two 1mm shims in there, so I removed a 1mm shim and added a .3 mm shim which gave me a belt tension at 24mm+.
Should be good-to-go!

Have you tried the "don't force it get a bigger hammer" remover? That's where you get the puller pulled down tight and then whack the remover center bolt with a hammer. Oh yeah, don't use the oil because you don't want any shock absorber effect.

You don't hit it like you are trying to drive the shaft out the other side. Give it a sharp rap, it is the sudden impact that knocks it loose, not power.

bear is right it seems like just a slight lil vibration from tapping it a lil with a hammer does the trick then tighten and hit it again but like said not to hard just a lil rasp and always keeping tention on the clutch puller some of them can be very very difficult to get off so good luck

Try this. Put a jack under the clutch side of the quad & lift it up about a foot.
With your clutch bolt out, pour about an ounce or 2 of oil inside. Put some plumbers
tape on the threads of the puller & hit it with the impact gun again. Should hydraulic
right off.

It's Ok to hammer the puller if you plan on tearing the motor down. I've done it many times, but it'll almost always knock the crank out of whack. You'll fix one problem, but create another when you find a new vibration in your handlebars or in your seat.
If your impact won't do it, borrow a stronger one, (I'm assumming it's a 1/2" drive), or use a persuader on a ratchet. They almost always come off with a crack/bang, so be prepared.

Or, some heat from a propane torch right where you figure the shaft is mated to the clutch. Hard to explain, put the heat to the center of the fixed sheave in the spot where the belt would sit at idle.
