I think we pay about 350 a year for the 4 quads but it depends on the company and person I beleive. But more importantly there is something to be said for having insurance if your new to the sport or if your going to jump off a bridge if its stolen. Generally speaking first year riders account for about 70% of the more serious accidents. Also make sure you have medical insurance. Wrestling with 4 wheelers has cost about $80,000 so far and its not over.

Found it! We insure through Foremost and its $320 for the three larger quads. We don't carry coverage on the Honda as they don't want to insure youth bikes. With one daughter without a drivers license we had to identify which quad was the "youth quad". I broke it up into two payments a year to take the sting out of it.

Millsd,
If you have home owners or renters insurance your vehicles are usually covered if they are stolen from your property. Some companies offer this covereage some don't.
When my wife and I got our machines I also made a call to my auto insurance company since I have full coverage from them on my truck. They said I am covered if I drive someone else's car so I asked about ATV's. I was told as long as the machine is liscensed I am still covered.
So we have not gotten insurance. No problems yet but we do put a few $ away each month for repairs/maintenance/new machine if and when its needed.
I think you also have to look at how you ride. We do not go balls to the walls, all out all the time. So unless its stolen we don't have a high risk for breakage. As far as theft goes...I find a few warning shots fired into the chest usually gets their attention. Not to mention the fact that I live on an island 25 square miles in size and I have the only AC machines on the island.
$600 a year sounds high $250 a year for theft/damage doesn't sound too bad if its needed. Hope this helps.

When I got mine, my State Farm person told me that my home owners insurance didn't cover my ATV if it got stolen or got burned up in a fire while in the garage. She said that anything with a motor over 25 HP had to have its own insurance.

i recently got a quote for insurance on my 500 and it was 1600 a year. that is more than i pay for my truck. needless to say i didnt get it

today i went to my insurance broker to find some things out to put liability it is about 240 a year (200,000.) to put storage ins (fire and theft only while parked in my garage) it is about 90 a year to get those 2 quotes it took about 45 mins. so i didnt have time to get any others. i guess the guy who quoted me 1600. didnt know what he was talking about.

$140 per year for full coverage on my p700, for that little amount it seems silly not to have it. A huge amount of atv's are stolen yearly not to mention if you bend it up yourself. It's worth it in my book.

$600 is way to high, I have the full coverage with $100 deductible and pay $225 a year. Alaska also has the 3rd highest insurance rate in the nation.

Well, we pay $400/yr for both our ATV's. That's full coverage (which we got from Allstate, where we have car and home owners insurance) too.

Yeah, or maybe he was 'politely' saying he didn't want to insure your quads...

If you've got a new ride, I highly suggest getting insurance. After 3 rides, I had to use my insurance as a friend rolled and totaled my 500.

My Farm Bureau wanted about 600 a year,I called Progressive and got full coverage for 117 a year. You can go to there site and get a quote online.Good luck

Any thoughts on atv insurace? Get it, don't get it, required to get it for riding on state/federal trails? Looks like ~600/yr including liability and ~240 for just damage/theft...thought those are both with a $500 deductible!

pmkhead and mobyguzzer...who do you have your insurance through, what is you deductible, and is liability included, or just vehicle damage? Mine is a 500 deductible which seems crazy. That said, I have USAA, which is generally cheaper than anyone else since it's a policy holder owned company.
