I have a question on the engine braking on my 650. I removed the smaller shim, but couldn't stand the squealing at idle so put back a smaller shim. Anyway when I start down a hill sometimes its makes a series of squeals ert ert ert. Sort of reminds me of when we were kids and would keep bumping the brakes on our bikes on the road making little squeal sounds. Hope this makes sense, was wondering if this is normal. Doesn't do it all the time, but does sometimes.

Straight cut gears I believe, boys.

Break-in at 1/2 throttle for 10 hrs is a joke. Many studies have been done on this and the overall consensus I have seen is: break it in how you're going to ride it. break-in theory

I had the belt tightened (shim removed) somewhere between 50 and 100 miles. Someone with a Kawasaki told me to do that. Other than that, I've done nothing to mine but change oil.

That V-twin sounds great, doesn't it? Mine has loosened up over the first 300 miles and will now easily wheelie in low range. It is a real beast. It actually has a much lower center of gravity than the seat of your pants will tell you.

Hope you enjoy it half as much as I like mine!

I thought the tranny on my 375 was loud until I got the 650. That is just the way they are and the Kawi Prairies are the same way.

if your going slow keep it in low gear .its better for belt.high gear for open roads and fast riding.i just finished breaking mine in.10 hours of 1/2 throttle or less.as soon as i hit 11 hours i opened her wide open.very nice and wheelies are easy.the more you ride it the more your gonna like it i promise.have fun

its tough for me to say because my last quad was a prairie 650 which has the same tranny as the rtic cat.i guess they are a little loud.otherwise how do you like the bike

hey dave b i liked that break in theory set up. i always heard contoversey on that topic.but i wasnt sure so i figured id follow factory recommendations. my friend bought a warrior yamaha. and from the second he first rode it he floored it and rode it hard ever since he never had a problem.i figured he got lucky.thanks for the info
