For you guys with experience on the new AC bikes (2004 and 2005), can you shift from 2wd to 4wd (limited slip) on the fly with the thumbswitch on the 500's and 650's? What about locked, do you have to stop to lock the front diff or can you nudge it in if you get in trouble?

I think its a lot like the yamaha shift on the fly,I shifted it whenever, where ever.As for the diff lock question, don't know for sure, asked that question myself on ArcticChat, without much luck.

If it will hurt the front diff then it must be different than the prairie, they can yard it on whenever they want to.

if you aren't spinning you can shift on the fly...
if your tires are spinning you cannot....it will be tough on the gears
pretty simple.....same as anything that is 4 wheel drive

I am not positive, but pretty sure you shouldn't lock in the front diff with the tires spinning. Could probably do more damage than good. As for shifting into 4wd when moving, that shouldn't hurt anything, as long as you have traction at the rear wheels.
