The AC auto is a good system, sealed well and very durable. I think you are reading about the 650 trans and assuming it's the same as the 500, the 650 is the one most of the spring talk is about. The 650 uses the kawi engine and auto transmission, not the AC transmission. You can change the spring out on an AC but most people don't.

My dad has a 2000 Cat 500 auto, and that thing has been great. No belt slipping or anything. He uses it to pull a lot of things (boat trailer, cars, F-250 that doesn't run, tree stumps, etc...) and it is not the belt slipping that you have to worry about, it is traction. Let us know if you get it!

Fellow Stump Jumpers, Looking at a 2001 500 ac with the auto transmission and was wondering what "Real World" users thought about it. I Have read all the reviews and they say its great( trasmission), but I want real users thoughts pro's and cons. I have read forums on other discussio boards and they keep talking about changing springs to take out the slack. What gives here? I must admit I am a little gun shy of the auto because a friend had a Polaris 500 witha belt and when it got wet it just flat out quit pulling!! Let me know if its as good as they say. Thanks

I own a 500i auto 4x4,, 2002. Belt is slipping. Was out riding when it started smoking and losing drive power. No major pulls with it, just trail riding and climbing. Wouldn't get another
