I believe the belts are supposed to last 10,000 miles....or so.
And I just want to clairify one thing....the belt is constantly ENGAGED not actually constantly TURNING. Which is to say it is always in the grips (if you will) to the sheaves. I thought constantly engaged meant turning also....until I took the cover off and started the machine....at idle the clutch is not spinning at all.
Needless to say you belt should last you a long time.

All I know is from what my dealer told me, Since they opened their doors about 5 years ago, they have sold 1 belt for the 500. Reason being is the 500 uses a live belt transmission which means unlike Kawasaki and Polaris where the belt actually slips on the clutchs (same as a snowmobile cllutch), the AC 500 is constantly turning, therefore no belt slippage and much longer belt life. I have a 2003 400i, same clutch set up I believe, and I only got 2000 miles out of mine. I am trying out a Dayco right now, have read some bad things about them, but not so much about the 400 (mostly 650's) but I figures for a 1/3 of the price I would try one out. If you start smoking your belt at all your life expectancy goes down also.

My TRV is two years old, only has about 650 miles on it. But 650 HARD miles. I run a jeep trails where climbing over rocks is common practice. And play in the deep mud too.
No problems here.

I have had no problems at all with the belt on my TRV. I ride with a guy who runs a Polaris 500 and his machine eats belts. He and I have been over the same trail a couple of times and he is on his 3rd belt. My AC has not missed a beat nor shown any signs of problems. I have heard of guys whose AC belt cover leaks and lets the belt get wet and slips until its dried out but nothing other than that.
I have about 1000 miles on my TRV and no problems. Not sure when to anticipate replacing it. All the mechanics at the AC dealers I have spoken to said you very rarely need to replace an AC belt.

Hi all. Does anyone know how frequently I should anticipate having to replace the V-Belt on my 500 TRV? Also, does anyone know where I can order one? I want to carry a spare just in case.
Thanks.

Well, after browsing Brown's Leisure World a bit more I did find that they carry the transmission V-belt - $240.00 ea. Guess I won't carry a spare with me. Would still like to know what the life expectancy of the drive belt is, though. Anyone have any idea?

Okay, good to know that belts don't seem to be an issue.
Petey, yep I forgot Brown's lists in Canadian Dollars. Thanks.
