I have noticed that when I start a turnaround from a stop, the front tires seem to skid forward instead of steer in the direction pointed. They are the factory Goodyear Rawhides. Is this a tire issue, AC650 issue, or common to ATVs in general? Even with my limited ATV experience, I don't recall this pushing tendency on other ATVs I've ridden. So I don't know if it's just lack of traction or a AC quirk.

Thanks, I thought it may be a tire issue. They seem a little on the soft side, even at 6lbs. I will experiment with tire pressure a bit but they may have to go.

The tires say 6.5 max psi. How did you get by with 8 psi? Just curious.
I know they feel like they are rolling under. I just can't see them when they do it. At least I probably shouldn't be leaning over that far to see them. BR>

Says 6.5 psi max right on the tire. Kind of funny as the sticker on the fender says 5psi max. Guess they are still using the same old stickers even though they changed tires. I may try bumping the tire pressure a bit more and see if it helps. I still think they are pretty mushy at 6 psi.
Anybody change the shock settings? Mine are all set in the middle from the factory. I didn't know if changing them at all will help.

100% straight up tire issue, many of the guys on here have complained about them. Some have incresed the tire pressure and that has helped, others have replaced with a stiffer sidewall tire. It just depends on how aggressive you ride, if you ride real hard you probably would be happier swapping them out

The problem is the radials are too soft for a machine that size. When I ran 5PSI all around (as recommended), the tires will roll over until the quad slids on the sidewalls until the rims dug in for the turn. If you don't believe me, I can send you pictures of my messed up chrome rims.
Before I swapped them out, I was running 8 PSI, and that made a world of difference. At 8 PSI, ir cornered pretty good.

Yours are 6.5 PSI?
Hmmm... The ones delivered on my Canadian machine were stamped 3 stars, and it said 5 PSI MAX.
I talked to my dealer, and he said they inflate them to almost 30 PSI to seat the beads, so running them at 10 PSI is still ok.
Maybe the USA ones have different version of the tires? I know mine at 5 PSI was absolutely scarey. The whole machine would hop when going over 30 MPH, and I had some close quarters with trees on the trails (but I know the brakes work great!)

Hmmm... Mine said 5PSI max. Now that's weird!
I tried stiffening them right up, but the suspension isn't the problem, it's the soft rubber. Try 8-12 PSI, and you should be fine. I was running mine at 4/4 for shock settings.

In my humble opinion it is not a tire issue but has to do with the rear end being locked up and the tires have to over come this before the machine will turn. Back in my drag race days this was a common problem with the cars with solid differentials.

I have come to the conclusion that it is a combination of things. Steering/suspension geometry, tires and weight balance of the quad. The front end is light.
Steering/suspension geometry. Increasing the toe in will make the low speed steering a little better but will cause stability issues at high speed.
The tires are too soft. I'm running at 7.5psi and it helped a little also but they still tend to roll in turns.
The front end is too light. I notice better low speed steering when my front rack box is loaded on the heavy side.
I still want to increase the rear spring preload to see if that will prevent so much weight transfer to the rear when you touch the throttle.
Bear4570, I agree the locked or live rear axle will create steering issues but almost all ATV's are this type of axle. Others have been able to engineer the push problem out of thier machines, AC should also be able to.

hi guys i had the same problem with my fact tires so i pumped them up to 11 psi in the front which helps them from folding under the wheels and also helps the front end bite in and turn the fact tires ride nice but i think they are too soft of a tire for this machine since i installed my 28 in titan 589s i have no problem with steering at all just my 2 cents

I ran 13lbs front and 7lbs rear and seemed the best to me.
