Ok, this may sound kind of stupid , but it works to stop sqeaky brakes on cars. Remove the pads and put Duct tape on the back of the pads (steel side). What causes the sqeak is a vibration between the pad and the caliper. You can go to your local auto parts store and by some stuff in an aerosol can for about $6.oo or you can do it the way I've mentioned. It worked on my Kawasaki when I had it, and it works on my Ford Pickup. Try it, it's cheap. img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Oil of any type will cause the pads to deteriorate at a very rapid rate. That guy sounds like he wants to sell brake pads. The sqeak is caused by vibrations between the puck and the pad

The question is have you tried it? did it stop your sqeak?
Like I said it worked for me. My Dad told me about this trick many years ago. It's really amazing about Dads. When you're 15, they're stupid. You then make it to 20 and your Dad is a lot smarter than he used to be. By the time you reach 30 you find out that your Dad is now a genius. They sure get really smart really fast don't you think?

Hi,
My rear brake has been squeaking, during normal riding while not using the brake, for some time now, and it is quite annoying! I have removed the pad, which has plenty of lining remaining, and roughed the pad and the disk with emery cloth, this had no effect.
Note: the brake squeak stops when using the brake.
Could the stock AC brake pads be defective or has anyone out there had there rear disk warp?
I had hoped the squeak would have corrected itself, but it has been four months now.

Minehunter is right. I wouldn't put anything on the brake pad surface. If they sofen up they will come apart in chunks or glaze over very quickly. That duct tape tricks sounds very cool. I will try it on mine.

I just went to a dealer and asked him if he could help me with the same problem. He told me to put a little heavy weight oil on the pad itself and it should stop all of the squeeking temporarily. He said the pads are not defective, it just a problem with all brake pads since asbestos can not be used any longer. The dealer said this will soften the pads a little bit, but if you ride in a lot of dust and/or mud, you will need to apply more oil.
Has anyone else heard of doing this?
