When my son first got his 2000 auto we were having tha same trouble. But I found when crossing deep water I put it in low range and keep on the gas and now we hardly ever get water in the belt housing and I've taken it through rack deep weter. You got to keep it pegged though,, going to slow or stoping will let water in.

had my first problem with my cat today, was in some deep water today about 6 inches from rack and had some water suck into belt housing, cat almost stopped ,just grunted a howl, like a dog being hit by car.then jumped right out of hole, got to other side and drained out about a cup of water from housing.of course i went back in 3 to 4 more times.with the same thing happening the last time out, anyway will me spinning the belt like that require me to have it replaced or cause glazing, should i flush or clean housing out, just in case of sand or mud getting n there also.quad never slowed after draining and drying out abit.just kinda concerned.what do ya'll think?just keep kickin?oh yeah,i got some great pic's of a cat swimming.check em out at http://y42.photos.yahoo.com/bc/swampkat00/lst?.dir/&.view=t
