Hey, I don't know about a "true" taillight protector per se, but you might want to look at a Kimpex rear bumper. I've got one on my 'Cat-go to the snow pics, and I believe I have one in there of just the kimpex, with the 55w lights in it. It sticks out a ways past the reverse light and works very well at protecting it. I've backed over several larger trees and not damaged the light. I know Andy has one as well, and I think Boner does too, they could tell you what they think of their rear bumper as well. I bought mine for something like $65 or so from Cabela's.
Just a thought,
Mike

It is very unprotected. I broke ours on the first mile of ownership! No joke. I drove the 400 cat into the back of it(500 cat) when my girlfriend/wife didn't down shift in time on a hill and she slowed down and I didn't. The light didn't brake but the plastic it mounts to did. I'll show you when we go camping. :)
