Mike,
It's been a while since I posted. My mother has been ill and I have been on the road a lot back anf forth to the rez. - hospital - home and havent taken the time to post. Hoever I do check in from time to time. My son Alex and I have been planing a trip to Utah in June when he gets out of school so when I saw your post i just had to reply. We are going to the 4 corners airea around Blanding and also Casto canyon. It would be way cool if we could hook up for a ride. Its been almost 20 years since I been out there. Were taking 10 days and we are looking foward to this trip.

Mike,
We will be going arownd the first of June. We are still in the planing stage and trying to figure the best route out. Not necessarily the shortest route but the most scenic and fun. We are going to take at least 10 days maybe more.
The Cats are working great. broke a frount drive axle last fall but other then that I got over 5000 miles on the warpony with no trouble. My son is going to put tri-claws on his cat before the trip. I'm looking at getting a Supertrap IDS2 for mine. A baffel inside my muffler broke and rattles around. I need to bash it with a hammer every once in a while to get it to quit :)
I have some new photos up, hunting, snow etc. at my Yahoo photo album. No shure how to make it clickable but you can cut and paste it. the address is:

Hey, just wondering how many of you guys might be interested in getting together this summer down in Utah somewhere for a ride. I had a few brochures of the Paiute Trail system at one time, but seem to have lost them. Is there any other really neat trails down that way somewhere? Would anybody be interested in planning something like this? I know there are a few guys who live down there with 'Cats, so it shouldn't be too bad of a drive for them. I was just thinking though, that maybe we could get some of the Idaho boys, some from Oregon and California, as well as try to bring up them Texans from down south, ya know, maybe all meet together in Utah for a ride. I'd come down from Washington and anybody else who is willing to drive could come from where ever.
So what do you think, is it worth trying, or not??? Anybody interested???
Thanks for the thoughts,
Mike

Hell yeah you're invited, bring everybody you know! I really couldn't care less what anybody rides, just so long as we all have a good time. I was on a ride with GrizRick not too long ago, with nearly every make out there including two wheel drives, we had a great time. I guess I probably should have posted under "other topics" or whatever, but the AC guys are a pretty good group-not just the AC owners, but pretty much everybody on this board, if you know what I mean. I think pretty much everybody who posts under the AC forum is all in about the same category, no matter what we ride, we all seem to respect each other, value comments made and so forth. Much nicer to see than some of the other boards with all the bickering, ya know.
Anyway, Yeah, sorry if I sounded like I meant just 'Cats, I didn't mean that at all, anybody who wants to come is invited. I was pretty much just curious if there would be any interest in putting something together. It would be about a 10-12 hour drive for me I think, so I'd kind of like to do a couple day ride if possible-kind of lighten the burden of driving so far if you know what I mean. Of course, the boys down in Texas probably have twice that distance to go so I guess I shouldn't be complaining, just thought a longer ride would be a little nicer though, maybe a 2-3 day ride??? As for the date, looks like one vote for after July-any other suggestions??? I'm pretty much open any time through the summer I think, unless I get this new job anyway, then we'll have to see.
But yes, the elk hunt is still on for sure, I'm really looking forward to that one!
Anyway, whoevers interested, keep 'em coming, would love to hear what everybody thinks about a possible ride down that way.

Hey, missed ya man, wondered where you've been! I'm very sorry to hear about your mother, my Best to Her and the rest of your family, I hope everything works out for the best. As for the ride, Yeah, I'd love to get together with you and ride down there. Have you already made plans for June? One of the Texas guys can't go till July I think, would that be possible? I'd be able to go to one, but probably not both.
So how are your pair of War Ponies doing??? There have been a lot of new guys since you left, do you still have your pics up anywhere? I swear you have one of the most modded 'Cats I think I've ever seen! Anyway, just curious if you had any more pics, I think some of the guys might be interested in that bad boy, I wouldn't mind seeing it again myself ;)
Well, if you're still on the road, best of luck to you and your Mom. Let me know what you think of when would be best, I'm definately interested.
Sounds like we've got a few possibilities here, this could be good deal. Retreaver-I'll let you know about one of those weekends as soon as I get a chance. Not sure quite what is going on right now, I just got a huge job offer that I can't turn down, so I'm working on that pretty seriously. Soon as I figure things out, I'll get back to you for sure.
Best of luck everybody, lets see if we can't put something together,
Mike

Thanks for the pics, good ones there! Glad to hear their doing well. I think Alex (Isn't that your boys name?) will love the 'Claws. I put a set of the 27" Bi/Tri Claws on my 'Cat and really love them, they're a great tire.

Sounds like a great idea there, definately worth looking into further. Oops, late for class!

I am interested in hooking up for a ride in Utah. The Piaute ATV Trail is a great one. I was planning on taking 4 days and riding the complete main loop (200+ miles) this summer. This would be a great time to do that. I've started to plan that one already.
If you wanted to hook up over in Fairview with Rancherrider then we could ride the Skyline drive, and the Great Western Trail. it is very beautiful. This is some of the area I hunt elk in so I could do some scouting while we were there. :)
I am available to go except for the last weekend of the months. Anyone is welcome to come and stay with me I live about 30min from Fairview and a little over an hour from the Piaute Trail.

So, when is a good time for everyone to go? The last weekend in June is Friday 29th, 30th, July 1st. There also is the middle of July Friday 21st, 22nd, 23rd. Which weekend would be better for everyone?
Do you guys want to ride and sleep on the trails or just go out for the day and then return back to motels for night?
Posted by: ttaylor
The only other weekend in July is the 27th, 28th, 29th. Other than that we are into the month of August. Would August be better?

Cowboy,
I'd be interrested, not a good time of year for me.But if I'm off on days off I'll try to make it.
Also planning to go ride with Minehunter the weekend of April 20th-22nd or April 27th-29th. If you can make either one of those dates let me know and we can set the plans in motion.
Good Ridng

I'm all up for at least exploring the idea. Some of us Texas folks could probably swing it. Sounds great and we would probably let some of the off brand bikes join in. J/K. Explore Explore Explore. A little camping, riding, relaxing sounds like a blast!

Sent you an email a while ago. Just checking to see if you have gotten it yet. I was responding to our ride in April. Utah could also happen. I sent you my 800 number, give me a call.

I'd love to drive up with waco4whlr in the end of July when I'm done teaching. Make it a time and date and I can go. Hunting in October is on still right cowboy? I will need a ride from Spokane for sure now.

I'd like to try later in July when I'm done teaching and have the cash to take the girlfriend/wife. She would love to camp and ride.

I'm teaching all the way up untill the 20th of July. I can leave that weekend and be there by Monday if people wanted to do a weekday ride/camp. I can also take my time and get there around the 26th or so for a weekend camp/ride if more people are interested.

cowboy,
Sounds like a fine idea! I'm interested in going. Do us Yamaha boys have an invitation also? :) If you can work it out and come up with some dates and times I can more than likely make it. You know how it is with the family and trying to get time away, especially the over night stuff! But with enough notice I could try and work some "magic" and get free for a ride.

I do live in Gunnison. in central Utah I have trials 10 Min. in any direction I think it would be great to have everyone who wanted, to come here and do some of the best Atving in the world, I do guide for the jamboree it is so much fun you get to meet a lot of different people.
would people need it on weekends or weekdays? how hard can it be? would you want to go fishing? do you want to see deer and Elk? there are 2 motels in Gunnison I don't know the price, but here are the phone # Country Paradise Motel 1-435-528-7521 and Gunnison Inn 1-435-528-7840. every town around here has motels so there would be plenty of room, hell you could just camp up the canyon.
I have the last week end in June off 29th for 4 days and first weekend in July 6th for 3 days it should be warm enough for most of the snow to be gone from the mountains... let me know

Cowboy, How about us poor Honda guys, aren't we invited? :) I'd like to get together for a ride with any of you guys that want to come to Utah, or that live in Utah. I haven't ridden much of the Piute trail myself but I would definately like to. I think BigDCRed is actually a guide for the Jamborie that takes place yearly on the Piute, maybe he could put a ride together. If you want to come to Utah let me know, my In-Laws have a cabin in central Utah in a town called Fairview. There are quite a few places to ride close by, and plenty of room to stay. My Father-in-law likes to ride and I'm sure he'd be willing to let us use his place as base-camp for a couple of days. It's up in the mountains and there is a pool and a small golf course.

No apology needed Cowboy, you know I was just kiddin around with ya, right? That's what the smiley face was for. I spend more time in the Arctic Cat forum than any other because you guys post the kind of stuff I like to read about: Hunting, working, mudding, rock hounding, just plain old utility machine kind of stuff.
I would love to get together for a ride with a bunch of you guys. Like I posted earlier, let me know when and I'll do my best to be there and if you want, I can help out with the accomodations. (SP?)
