Well I have used a chain to JERK a stuck IMMOVEABLE truck and only bent the hitch downward about 1/4". It's VERY sturdy. I've also used my hitch with a chain to pull an 8k+ lb truck around my yard.
Trust me, the hitch is very sturdy and strong.

I was looking at my cat today and think I found away to mount it on the older style rear diff.
I'm thinking of bolting it on top/side of the rear diff. I'll use the hole with no bolt in it that is on the top of the diff to run a bolt threw and bolt the rear of the 2" receiver to that. Then I'll weld up a support that will bolt threw the hole for the shank of a hitch ball.
What you guys think?

I, too, have pulled a lot with the back hitch. My opinion is that the hitch should be fine, that you'll break traction and spin before you overstress the hitch. That is unless you take off with slack in the chain and jerk what you're pulling a lot.
I wish someone would come out with a receiver adapter for the AC's, I would buy one.
I think they are mostly a convenience item, more than increasing strength. In my case, I have a trailer that I move with the AC once in a while that requires a 2 5/16" ball, which has a 1" shaft. The hole in the hitch in the AC is 3/4". Right now I use a 2" ball and go very slow with it. With the receiver setup, I could just use the drawbar from my truck. Also, there are so many receiver accessories out there you could try on your quad.

Yeah, I'd be really interested in a 2" receiver hitch as well, possibly with a slight angle to raise the ball if possible. I can't tow trailers very easily with the stock setup, as the trailer jack digs into the ground. A 2" receiver would be real handy.

Hello Guys,
I think the stock hitch is plenty strong.Like you guys, I have pulled logs,brush,small trailer with 1/2 cord or more of fire wood , and I have done the old jerk method on logs and brush and haven't bent it. I have an Idea for a 2" receaver hitch mount on the stock one. Maybe I better get one built. It would be more for convenience. If any one is interrested I'll make it and post some pics.

Hi,
I have been reading on how some people are installing 2" receiver hitch's on there ATV's, I have also seen some aftermarket style's for most ATV's, excluding Arctic Cat.
My question here is how strong is the stock rear hitch?
I have been using mine with a clevis to pull logs, stumps, use a pin to pull trailer's etc...
Am I overstressing the factory design of this hitch(tongue)?
Are the after market reciever hitch's mostly for convenience or strength?
