Just turned 33 today, I live in Rice MN. I am married and have one boy age 10 and one girl age 7. I manage a Telecommunication company in central Minnesota. I ride a Arctic Cat 300 4x4, I just got rid of my Honda 300 which didn't make the kids very happy, but they have a TRX 125 to ride until they get older. I am considering getting my wife a AC 500 auto, if she can handle it. She is also looking at a new ZL 550, so she can ride with me in the winter. In the Winter I spend more time on my Polaris Sled then my AC.

I'm 26, single, and live about 20 miles north of Fort Smith, AR. I work for USA Truck out of Van Buren, AR. Current ride is a 99 500 with a few cosmetic items attached. Getting near springtime, so I will probably look for a new quad for a month, and then back out and not get one for the fourth time.

I'm 49 maried with 2kids, one of each. Only one at home though. I live in Boise Idaho, I repair consumer electronics, TV, microwaves and such. We have just about all types of riding here, If you want mud you have to find it in the spring. Idaho is mostly desert and mountains. We have some really great dunes here. At St Anthonys there are 35 sq miles of sand dunes, on this side of the state we have a small area of about 2 sq miles just north of a little town called Weiser.I fish and hunt for just about anything that's in season, and coyotes all year long. Elk, Deer, and Bear are all happen in the fall, hunting depression sets in in the early part of the year so that's why I fish. I was a minehunting Sonarman in the Navy, hence the name minehunter.

I live in the great state of Utah. We have it all here from mountains, deserts, sand dunes, and everything in between. I'm 31 with 4 girls, been married 13 years next month. I work for the Utah Department of Corrections as an Adult Probation and Parole Agent, it's not the most thrilling job on the face of the earth but I don't lack customers : ) I love to fish and to hunt deer, elk, and coyotes. I basically like anything that is outdoors. You guys might wonder why a Honda owner spends so much time in the Arctic Cat forum, it's because I like utility type ATV's. I don't care to hear about how fast a banshee or 400ex goes. I like to hear about rockhounding, hunting, plowing snow, muddin, working class atv's, that's what Arctic Cat seems to do best and you guys offer a lot of good information.

I'm 29, married, and from central Iowa, close to Des Moines. I went to Iowa State University, graduated with a BS in civil engineering. I am an engineer for my home county. I like to hunt pheasants with my vizsla bird dog, and am slowly getting into bow hunting deer on my property. You can't hunt deer with centerfire rifle in Iowa, just shotgun slug, muzzleloader, bow, and just recently pistol. Bow seems like the best fit/challenge for me. Don't have much for public riding areas in the state, maybe 1000 acres in the whole state. Pretty much limits you to private property. I really envy you guys out west.

Nice to see quite a range from all across the U.S., that's pretty cool. I'm currently a "professional student" I think, living in Pullman, Washington and attending WSU. It's about an hour south of Spokane, and roughly 7 miles west of Moscow, Idaho. My home for now is about in the Tri-Cities, which is about an hour south of Yakima, 30 miles north of Hermiston, Oregon. I'm 24, will be 25 in May. Oh, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ESSEN! Feel like an old fart though myself, that's alright though, we'll make it through, as "A Country Boy Can Survive!" I've had several pretty good job offers, but nothing that really interested me. I currently have an Animal Science degree with a Business minor, and am working on getting a second degree in Agricultural Technologies and Management, in May. As you would have guessed by now, I love hunting, shooting, riding my AC 500, and just being outside. Also do a lot of camping, and have recently begun building log framed furniture such as beds, tables, couches, etc. It's actually kind of fun for a hobby I guess, and you can make pretty good money at it as well, so what the hell. TexasCat-So why'd you decide against the .50??? That would be a fun toy to have. I just got my Remington Model 700 VS-SF, which is a .223 with kevlar stock and stainless steel heavy weight fluted barrel. I topped it with a Leupold 6.5x20 long range target scope with mil.dot reticle, then threw a Harris Bi-pod underneath for stability. Been sighting it in the last couple days, and breaking it in, finally got it dialed down to where I'm putting groups of 3 shots in the same hole at 116 yards (laser range finder)-pretty cool I think! I've got a little more fine tuning to do, such as pulling it back right about a half inch or so, then up just a butt-hair. I may lighten the trigger a bit, but for now it's alright, just a tad bit heavy for my liking. It shoots awesome though, and that scope is definately a keeper. I think it's definately going to be a coyote killing machine, prairie dogs as well, so I'm looking forward to a little varmint hunting here in the near future. Good post, and Best of luck to everybody, happy trails! Mike

I am from Spanish Fork Utah. I live just about 30 minutes south of Foreman 4X4. We need to get together to do some riding. I am 31, married for 10 years this past weekend. My wife is expecting our fourth child. I have three girls and the fourth is going to be a boy!!!! (It's about time we even to odds :) ). I work for an aerospace manufacturing company as an accountant. I am buying my AC300 4X4 at the end of this month. I can't decide if I want the red or the green color? I currently own and race a Honda 350RX. I race desert and GP. I love the endurence factors in off-road racing. My parents bought a couple of Polaris Sportsman 500 and I have been trail riding with them. I never thought trail riding could be so much fun. We go with one of my dads friends and he studies the areas and then points out all the interesting facts about the area. I have really enjoyed taking my girls out trail riding. It is great family fun. I am hoping my wife will see how much fun it is. Then I will buy here one too!!! I enjoy the outdoors, fishing, camping and hunting. I hunt, elk, deer, pheasent, rabbits and pretty much anything else I can legally shoot at. But, most of all I enjoy ATVing. I have been riding them since about 1984. I started racing in 1986. I think AC has the best features on their quads. They offer the best quads on the market today. It is fun to see where everyone is from. I would love to get together with some of you guys and do some riding. Ride hard, Ride fast, Ride Safe!!! Travis Taylor 87 Honda 350RX

Catlance, Elk Hunting depends on what you want meat or horns. I assume you will want to get a trophy. Wyoming/Idaho is about the best place for trophy elk hunting. In Utah we have some nice big elk but they limit the entries just to a few hunters. For the general season most of the area is a spike only hunt. I have seen some nice big 6 & 7 point bulls (western count). Heck, one year we had a 5 point bull run right through the middle of our camp. It sent everyone running for cover and grabbing their camera's. :) You are too late to hunt the big bulls in Utah. you have to send your application in by the end of January. you can come out for the general season hunt. but the price of a tag is $333 for non-residents. There are some areas that you can still shoot a big bull but most of the state is closed to a spike only hunt. If you want to shoot a spike for the meat you are more than welcome to come out and hunt with my family. I have an uncle who lives out in Oddessa he went up to Idaho and shot a nice big bull. He said the meat was tough but he had a great time hunting.

CatLance, Good Luck on the private hunt. That's why I like elk hunting is because of the fact that no one goes!!! I mean people are beating each other up in a line just to get a deer tag. They sale elk tags over the counter and they can't sale them. We usually only see about two dozen camps at the most where we hunt. I know what you mean about some idiot not knowing what they are shooting at. I used to deer hunt. I was bad enough when 20 hunters line up along the top of the ridge. some deer comes trotting up the draw and gets filled with so many holes that who wants it. but, you better beleive that there are a few guys out there willing to kill another human for that carcus. I said let them have it. That's when we switched to hunting elk. We love the meat and we don't have to worry about being shot at by some other idiot. Any way I have never been on a private land hunt. We have guided some people to hunt on public lands but not private land. but good luck I hope you have a great time.

Hi Tellicocat, I have been looking at the forum for almost a year now. I have an arctic cat 300 4x4. i am in the Air Force and stationed in Fairbanks Alaska. Last summer i missed out on allot of riding because i was in Kuwait. This winter i have tried to ride as much as i can when the temp above 0. This summer some friends and i are making some plans for a few trips with the 4 wheelers. I am 31 years old, married and we have 3 kids. My wife and i are looking at getting a quad for her to ride so we can go riding together. Well take it easy and good riding to you.

Posted by: racnooc

Hi Stitchzr2, I think that the north slope is way up past the arctic circle. for some reason prudo bay or barrow comes to mind. Irichard is from alaska too maybe he will see this post and can answer better than i can. if it is for law enforcement ,like a state trooper, i know that for thier first year on the force they have to spend it up in that area then they can go to a more hospitalble part of the state. if you come up here it will be an adventure. good luck to you

I live in Smithville, MO (just North of Kansas City) 34, married, no kids (just dogs), Dad & I bought 500 Autos last spring for Hunting Whitetail & recreation. I since then bought a new house on 11 acres and the cat has already been a big help doing everything you can imagine around my little acreage. I look forward to more recreation riding this year & possibly an out of state Elk Hunt or maybe Antelope. If anyone has a good idea of where to go on a decent Elk hunt, please let us know. Other than that, I'll be waiting out the long winter anxious for spring to start. Lance

ttaylor, Thanks for the offer, you're right, I'm more interested in the trophy. Not that I don't like elk meat. When I was 14, we got lucky & drew 2 cow tags in CO & we were fortunate enought to fill both of them. We ate on them for about 1 1\2 years. I'm not really interested in going hunting on public land anymore, too many hunters who might not know just what they are shooting at. I think I'm going to save my $ & try to find a nice private ranch hunt & go for a trophy. gspman, I have never done any bird or waterfowl hunting. I have lots of friends that live & die for Quail & Pheasant & others that only hunt waterfowl. I might would be interested in bird hunting if I could do it on my cat, I'm not interested in it enough to do all the walking (read LAZY) required. I have been to a sporting clay course a couple of times & I'll have to bone up with the 12 guage a little (okay a lot) before going also. Thanks for the offer though. I think as I get more free time, I probably will do a little bird hunting, I have a few really good places to go, just need the time & energy. Lance

Hi guys. I'm up in Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory, Canada. I'm 42, married, 2 girls, 1 dog. My wife also has a Polaris 350 and we all go riding and camping together. I also do a lot of fishing, hunting (moose, sheep, caribou), and just plain exploring on the ATV any chance I get. Been here 10 years now and there are so many places left to explore I wish I was retired so I'd have more time! It's getting time to trade up the old Polaris and I'm really liking all the good info info I'm getting from you guys. I think I'll be window shopping for a while though since my wife wants the kithen renovated. Ouch! Big bucks. Happy riding.

i'm from the metropolis of la grange, texas. i'm a 26 year old small business owner that is absolutely free of a wife or kids for that matter. i have a black lab, a small arsenal of firearms--the newest being a ruger red label all weather o/u 12 gauge, and an arctic cat 500 auto. oh yeah cowboy, if you are still out there, i decided against the .50 caliber barret. texascat

Posted by: TEXASCAT

hey cowboy, the fifty was a little out of my price range plus i've always wanted the ruger red label and i wanted to put a little $$$ into my truck. that 350 crew cab needs tint, keyless, a cd player, amp, and a couple of woofers. i got a quote the other day an it totaled $1300. the 50 i was planning on getting was a single shot but, after consulting with people that have shot the big boy, my future acquisition will likely be the Barret M82A1 semi-auto .50 cal. (price: approx. $6500). one guy told me that when you pull the trigger it's like unleashing the wrath of god. that .223 sounds like a tack driver. i know my .220 swift does numbers on small critters so much that evidence of their existence on earth is nearly deleted. the .223 ammo is also less expensive than my swift, that means more bang for the buck and less barrel wear. have fun texascat

I am 32, married and live just south of St. Louis, MO. I hunt almost everything available in Missouri, but upland bird hunting is my favorite thing to do. I bought a 500 auto last year for hunting on a 5200 acre farm that we lease in northern Missouri. Hey CatLance, do you do any upland bird hunting up there? I hunt pheasants and quail all over the state with my two german shorthaired pointers. If you ever need help eradicating a few of those pesky roosters, let me know.

I forgot to put in my post that I love to hunt, deer, bear, wild hog, turkey and just about any other game animal that there is here in good ol' East Tennessee.

Hey I have enjoyed reading where everyone is from its sounds to me like there is alot of good ol' guys and gals all over the United States. I hope maybe one of these days I will be able to visit of the places that have been talked about, and maybe get to even hunt for some elk. Which the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency just released about 50 elk in Southeast Tn. Who knows I may not have to go to far to get to hunt. If anyone ever gets to come out this way give us a yell and maybe we can do some riding. Good luck and God Bless
