I keep mine in a shop building so its not totally as cold as it is outside, but its not heated either so its still pretty cold. I have a dead battery right now, so I have to pull it at first until the altenator warms up the battery. Prime it about 3 times and it normally pulls fine on the 2nd or third pull. Pretty dang good I think. I can prime my honda and kick it forever before it starts. Its 12 years old too, but still, it gets tiring fliping that compression release every kick. You would think that a cold 500 engine would be a bitch to pull start, but I haven't had any problems. Maybe thats why they call them ARCTIC Cats.

Well I've learned how to start my Cat in cold weather with the snorkeled vent lines finially. Just put it on full choke and press the button and it starts on the first crank, even at 22 degress out side. They don't have heated carbs but they do have primers on the right side. I never use mine tho.

A friend of mine has a 500 AC auto. Apparently it doesn't start too good up here in our near "arctic" weather so he got the idea of attaching a thumb / handlebar warmer heat tape onto the carb. He turns it on with a switch he mounted on the handlbars for about 10 minutes and it starts right up now. ksk

How do the Cats like cold weather? Do they have heated carbs or not?

I have no problem starting the big cat, even in sub 0 weather. Like boner said giver full choke and it will start, move it to about half choke and let it idle for awhile. The main thing i guess just let it warm up. matty

Mine starts really easily and runs fine in the cold. I've been plowing snow like crazy this year and haven't had any probs with the cold yet. - 25 to -30 celcius around here quite often. The reverse cable did let go last night though. Whether a pin just came out or the cable broke I'm not sure yet. I'll find out tomorrow. GuitP
