My brakes used to squeak a lot, but I don't hear it much at all any more. May be a new thing. I do notice it when riding mud though, but thats to be expected. At least I don't have drums to worry about though.

My AC has a squeak in the right front too. All it is, is the suspension squeaking though. Mine does it all the time, turns included.

Mine were a little squeaky at first-when new-until I went back and read up on the breaking in procedure for the breaks. After doing that, it went away. (the breaks work a hell of a lot better now too!) Funny thing was, it was only in turns, like you mention, and once I hit the breaks, it went away.
If you've already done that, my next guess would either be dried mud, or even that powder dust-that stuff has a way of getting into the smallest little places, and really makes a terrible squeak! Now that you mention it, both my '00 'Cats had a few various squeaks and creaks here and there for the first couple hundred miles, now they're gone-kind of like breaking in and oiling a new saddle. Could yours possibly be a "breaking in" noise???
Since brand new, I wouldn't think there should be anything wrong with your cvj's. If it is constantly making noise, or gets worse, I'd look a little further there, or have the dealer check it out-hell, it's under warranty still, so I'd use that up as much as possible!

Hey, best of luck. Doesn't sound like anything is wrong, maybe it's just the "new" thing like Andy mentioned. Mine squeaked for a while when new, even in the turns, but now not at all. Keep an eye on it though, if it gets louder, or worse, I'd check it out.

Sounds like the brakes, I don't think its the cvj. Is it a constant squeak or like a rotateing squeak?

Both of my cats brakes squeak some while turning, and yes I did do the burnishing. My guess is that while turning the outward pull of the turn is causing the brake pads to ride against the rotor. I have found them to be much worse when riding in really dry dusty conditions than in the mud. I am going to try some brake pad glue on the back of the pads and see if it will help hold them away from the rotor on the turns.

I had a similar problem on my 400 and 500 manual. I looked at the brakes first but found nothing wrong. I did notice that my shock springs were rubbing on the shock bodies at all four corners. I simply rotated the springs a 1/4 turn or so by hand untill I had good clearence. The black paint on the shock will rub off if yours is making contact too. I haven't heard a noise since. Dude we need to get together and go riding on my land down here! You bring the A.T.F. and I'll take care of the rest! Ride on.

i have a small problem that has been plaguing me for a couple weeks. there is a squeak coming from the right front quadrant on my 2001 autocat 500 4x4. the squeak only occurs when i am making a turn. is it the cvj or just the brakes. i have inspected my boots and all are in perfect condition and i do not abuse my cat. so waaaaaazzzzzuuuuup with that?

i followed the burnishing process to the wire, but i have not tried to apply the brakes while the squeaking is occuring to see if it disappears. i guess a squeak or two should be expected because it only has 40 miles on it. thanks for the input.
