Hi Everyone, As you can see, we have upgraded the forum software to the latest version. I still have some programming to do to fix some things and to add some stuff back in from the previous version. However, I decided to go ahead and make the new version live and I'd work on the other stuff over the next few days. It was a massive undertaking to perform the upgrade. I'm sure we'll find some bugs. If you do, please post them here. One thing you will notice is that you can now post photos in your topics! When I get time, I'll write up and post a FAQ on how to post photos. For now, I will say that you can either link to a photo hosted elsewhere or you can use the attachment option to attach your photo, load it onto our server, and have it display in your messages. I have to rewrite the first thread/ mext thread logic so that it doesn't take so long to scroll to the end of a long thread. I had to rewrite it in the last version of the software and I have to do it in this one, too. We're not done with the upgrade by any means. There is a lot to do yet.

This format isn't any different than the old one other than looks. The new topics link moved a little and some of the menu options moved a little but there wasn't that much as far as changes.

You can post photos in your posts now. That is one reason for the upgrade.

The Ads are playing catchup because we were down during the migration yesterday. It will get better by the end of the day when they start to display less frequently.

There is no way to change the colors. I can change the colors for the forum for everyone and I actually have been working on doing some of that. What is it about the grey that you don't care for? Do you like the colors on the Todays' New Topics page better?

Actually, there was a bug in the NEW TOPIC button for people using internet explorer. I just fixed that. I also enabled quickreply for everyone. Linear should be the default view. You should not have to change that.

When you click on Profile there is a profile tab and a personal options tab. The tabs toggle between two different pages of settings.

The forum is slower for everybody. I'll be working on the speed issue all this week. I promise you that it will get a lot better. I had to do a lot of work on the old forum to get it to perform and will have to do the same on this one.

That is due to a bug in Norton Internet Security. NIS cannot handle web pages that use gzip compression. Go into NIS and find the option to have it update with the latest fixes. After it updates, it will work fine. They fixed the problem over a year ago. You must not be keeping it up to date.

Why do I have to use the quick reply when I want to reply to a post? When I click on the normal reply,it opens up a duplicate page with no place to post a reply?

Man, I go out of town for a few days and look what happens!! Very nice dbeck. Maybe I missed it but where are our mod areas? I see the options but nothing else for us. HELP!!! It's been a long weekend in Vegas and I'm in no condition to be trying to figure this out right now.

Interesting new design. I assume one of the things that will be added, unless I'm missing it, is the ability to set the ordering. I.e. latest posts first. Those of us who partake of long threads it's very handy. So far if I try to get into the SpinZone, PSD, California Riders does show up.

i'm glad you left justified the 'todays topic' section! made it easier to read. i did like the blue better; though some of the blue is returning, the background of red and pinkish(?) is kinda eye bugging. Blue just seems calmer to the eyes and as long as it isnt intense, seems to reduce eyestrain, imo.

also, maybe it just on mine, but sometimes the topics are lumped together in 1 one of the shades- where it should be seperated into 2. other than that, i know how upgrades are, deal with them all the time so i understand and appreciate the effort associated with them. overall, i think it's a going to prove to be a good move, makes the site cleaner (has that 'XP look'), and in time we'll get used to it... thanks.

No, no.....the gray's, blue's, and black are much easier to read than shades of red.

Also, I don't know if this will be a fix or not like I'm sure a lot will, but when you quote someone that posted "smileys", the quote is filled with the description of the smiley and makes it hard to read. Again, this may be planned to be fixed anyways, just thought I'd point it out incase.

I think it is just people with pop up blockers that have to use Quick Reply.

BTW, if you hit "linear" towards the top of the page, you be be able to use the regular reply feature and quote feature, but you have to hit "linear" everytime you go into a new thread.

Can you put quick reply at the top.. Cuz im backwards and read the forums back to front decending instead of acending you know.. ohh and also the font alignment on todays topics being Centered for subject. too hard to read that way. left align is much cleaner looking.

And is there a way to attach the quick reply box to your read order.. If you read descending it at the top and acending its at the bottom. Yeah i know. pain in the ass we are. The quick reply is dam sweet though for us slow internet people and also has to cut you bandwidth huge.

EEEEK :Q Well a sort table would be bitchin but prolly way to complex for the software. for each user to be able to assign a sort ID to the people in their buddy list.

Wish i would get outta the wheelchair. But apperantly my pictures are no good :(

A quick reply box at the top would be great for us who view desending, especially on large threads. I makes it much easier to post as you read.

dbeck the updated site looks great. I really like the new options. I will try to post a pic at the bottom of the page like some of the others to see if I get it to work. Also my sig says I am a supporting member. Last I knew I wasn't, maybe you are telling me I should be, I know I should. I really like the site and have got many useful tips from it. What is the cost per year I forget. Anyway, thanks again for a great site, keep up the good work...Bruce

It blows goats for now but I will patiently wait for the full blown effects to take place before passing final judgement. I will say that I appreciate your efforts in trying to make it a better place, but am confused as to what the problem was to begin with. The old format was very simple and convenient to use, maybe this will be also when it's said and done. Hectic and unpleasant in the meantime.
We'll see.

How do I change the color the threads are displayed in? I find the light blue color a little hard to see on some monitors.

OFC, how do you set your preferences to read decending now? Mine was set that way till this new layout screwed it up! Now I cannot find the "preferences page" (Am I the only one???)

Also, I am using Firefox with ad blocker and the help page keeps loading over and over and over if I click on it!!! I WILL NOT give up my current browser(firefox with adblocker add on) for a lame @ss internet explorer browser.......
