Did you upgrade the server by chance?
Since the new forum I am getting on the site alot slower then the old forum. Even though I am on DSL! Look like you need to work on it IMO.
Other that it really look good and good job.
Have a good one

We're pleased to provide you with a new version of our forums. The new version allows you to upload your own user icons and provides many other new enhancements. I'll post a new topic talking about the enhancements later on.
If you encounter any problems or wish to comment on the new look/features, please post your comments here.

Give me a few minutes to write some code and I'll add it back in

Okay...there ya be.....the locations are under the titles.
Posted by: dbeck
No, servers are the same. I have a few things to do. Tonight after the load is off the servers I need to create the fulltext search in the database which will help. I also need to run some analyze jobs to see where things are slow and do some tuning. I'll get them flying again. I can only get the info I need when they are live because I can't simulate 70+ users hitting the forums at the same time in test!
Also, stuff besides the forum has been a little slow and I think we might have some noise on our T-1. We're checking that too.

Make that 86 simultaneous users.

What would you prefer it to say?

Hondabuster,
When you try to use the logon box on the right and you get that error, what page are you starting from? Are you at the forums home page or some other page?
Posted by: dbeck
I found one flash ad that was creating CPU usage problems and I have disabled it until I can talk to the agency on Friday about it.

Its a bug in Norton Internet Security Suite. You can tell Norton to go online and grab the latest patches for itself or just shut norton off while browsing the forum. Norton has issues with gzip compressed sites.

strill hate the adds and cut and past does not work. I think I will send e-mails on how I due not like there adds on this forum,

Spell checker still does not work

I think the contrast/difference between the visited link color vs. the non visited link should be greater than it is now. Other than that it looks great.

Great upgrade Dbeck!
I am already missing the user location, under the author icon though. Location is alot more useful than when they joined.
Thanks for the forums

Nice job on the update. The pic icons look great....I too miss the location headings.

Honeyduck96,
I am not sure if this will fix the problem but worth a check.
This information is from dbeck:

The new forums are working great for me!!
The other day it was kinda slow but it's back up to speed now.
I'd like to see a email notufication for PMs.
I think that would be a good feature.

What is that "editor" thing that you mention Mudhound???
What does it do?
"TOID"
Posted by: eRAPTOID
Dave, the one thing that does aggrivate me a little is: When you log on, you can see immediately that you have a PM, once I go to the PM and read it, then go back to the ATV CONNECTION FORUMS, it now clears all new posts. You can no longer see what has new posts and what doesn't - does this make sense to you??
I'm pretty sure it was the same way before the upgrades too! Don't know if anything can be done about it or not. I guess I should just check all new posts before reading my PM, then I won't have the problem huh???

Muddhound, so if I turn this feature on, it will give me these options that you mention while replying to threads? Is that how it works??
Thanks,
"TOID"

Thanks, I'll surely give it a try!!!
Yep, it works!

Yes I'm aware that this thread was started to recognize problems with the last forum software update, (actually this whole forum was), but I'm posting here anyway so I dont have to start a new one.
I'm having some problems with posting. The "http" and other java buttons arent working for me, using the classic or wysiwyg editor. Worked fine a few days ago, and this computer has been off since then. Got the same results with my laptop as well, so I'm at a loss on my end. Any suggestions?

Firefox sucks, it was good back in the day but it's nothing special now and usually performs worse than IE. But hey, whatever works for you is fine. I'd suggest slimbrowser for those not wanting to deal with the compatibility issues and frequent slow downs present with firefox.
And this forum isnt much for getting help either.

Looks great Dave.

dbeck, nothing major, but its still listing subscription update in the subject line of the emails you get when you subscribe to a thread.

Doesn't really matter, I thought that was a temp message during the testing to keep the subscriptions from the two boards seperate. It all works for me.BR>
However theMOOSE and I have made a couple of attempts at getting the "email this thread" function to work and I still can't get it to go through, last time I tried was over 15 minutes ago and it still hasn't went through.
Other than that and the issues with WYSIWYG Editor that I mentioned earlier I love it!!!!img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

Its an option under customize, it makes your reply box something like a Microsoft interface. It allows you to write your resposes and put in your links, bold type, bullets, etc just like in Outlook or Works.
Pretty cool!

Maybe having the PMs come up in a new window, if that wouldn't require to much new code.

Exactly, but there is a small glitch in the list options (bullets and numbers), nothing major. I love it.

My pics page won't come up for me........I have no little camera under my name. I'm pretty sure all my pics are ok.
Also, something new happening to me is that when I go from lets say the Polaris forum back to the main page........it reloads it, so all of the topics are no longer "new" or blue. Just kinda annoying......not that big of a deal.
Posted by: hondabuster
For the most part I like the changes.
Im only having one issue, and I dont know if its on my end or not. But it happens on both computors, here and at work, one a mac and one a pc.
Logging in can be frustrating. Half of the time i get this message
"
Forum Error
An error has occurred. If you wish to notify the administrator please click here.
To go back to the main forum page please click here.
ERROR INFORMATION:Element STARTPAGE is undefined in URL.
The error occurred on line 972.
"
Eventually, as you can see, I get in. Usually i click the login button on the top row, because clicking the box on the right(for logging in) never let me in.

Usually the todays new topics page, or I wait until i get to a certain thread, and then i login at that point so i can reply.
If im not logged in, and hit the reply button...the window for logging in comes out automaticly, and that one i can usually get to work.

I started using Mozilla Firefox, and noticed the pages load way faster...I may have to give up IE. I also notied the Firefox blocks the popup ads on other sites way better too...so those that are still experiencing issues, you might want to try out firefox.

Main problem I notice is the Flash Ads. they cause everything to slow down and load up peoples puters. The GIFs and jpgs dont do anything. but as soon as you have 2 or 5 tabs/windows open your proccesor is maxed and everything comes to a screachin halt.
My solution on my Forum Machine was to block all Ads and mine hauls arse and never loads up the proccesor.. On my other machines when i access the forums if i have 1 window open its no biggy. but soon as i get multiple everything sloooooooows down.
Flash Adds Suck!

same thing happens to me as hondabuster had mentioned. if i try to login from a topic or sumthing then it wont work.... but if i login from the main page then it does. its not like its a big deal or anything im just wondering y thats happening.

I'm new here, so be gentle!
When I click on a thread and read the submitted posts, all is fine. When I click on the "back" icon, I need to click it 2 to 4 times (usually 3) to return to the previous page. This is very frustrating. I have tried several other forums with no complications.
What needs to be done to correct this situstion?
