Posted by: Snapper_Rider
Is the Ocala National Forest still open for ATV use? I thought they closed it to motorcycles and atvs. If not I will go up there sometime

Crooms rider here.
Any Lakeland peaple here?

Cool!!! I'm in St. Pete and ride alot in Ocala National Forest. I'm even getting to know the forest pretty well. Two of my riding buddies don't wear helmets so I don't go to Croom much.
I wear a helmet and have a valid sticker for Croom.
Lets go!
BTW...for those who don't know, Croom is 2,600 or so acres at the intersection of I-75 and State Rd. 50 in Brooksville.
Croom is a hike from Boca Raton so plan on a two day stay and camp overnight. Its cheap and loads of fun.

Snapper: Certain areas of the Ocala Forest is closed to all orv use. You can pick up a map at any of the ranger offices on highway 48 or 19 that show where you can ride an unlicensed vehicle. Do not ride an unlicensed orv on a numbered road or you will get ticketed and fined - the rangers have a zero tolerance policy. If you get caught riding in an area that is closed to all orv use, it is punishable by up to six months in jail and or $5,000.00 fine. On the bright side, there are so many open trails to ride you will not get bored for many years.

Looks like you found the land on west side of jog road. Just blew my tranny out on my 01 raptor there today. Pretty cool place but the jumps don't really have any lips left. Stuck having to hit the first burm from the back to catch big air. See ya out there.

I ride up at Croom just about every Monday. It's an off day for most people with work, etc. but it's all I got. Anyone make it up there on Mondays?
Posted by: mrbones
What and where is this Palmbay Compound? East coast? If it's good I'd like to add to my site. Let me know, thanks!
Posted by: mrbones
I checked out Palm Bay on the map. Probably 2.5 hours from Tampa. Is this legal land to ride on or privately owned? Any run-ins with the law while riding there?
Do you have an address or any directions for getting there?
Thanks!

mrbones the compound is on the east coast side and is a great place to ride.
lots of trails, tracks, mud, hills, ditches...

Hey Raptordan,
Is Blackstill in Clermont still rideable? I haven't been there since last year around this time. I heard someone bought it or the people at the campgroung complained too much and they shut it down? Let me know, that place rocks.
Posted by: Lightman
I'm in Sarasota. There are some great trails in Pt Charlotte, and also in Naples (bad luck prairie). Both have high speed sections for sport quads, woods trails, and serious mud!
Posted by: Lightman
Yes, mac's is a cool place if you're in south florida and like mud. I did get stopped and warned by the rangers, and entered into their computer system, so if I get caught there again I'm in big trouble. This was on a wednesday around 3pm. From what I hear, weekend night time is safer... SERIOUS mud there. Bad luck prairie has equal amounts of mud, but much much more riding, good for those folks in SW florida.
Posted by: Lightman
Bigbear 4x4, STOP YELLING IN CAPS! LOL! Bad luck prairie has tons of mud. You and Scott need to come out. I'm assuming you're his riding buddy. When big cypress is back open again, it's Concho Billy time, baby.. Cotts4x4 you too!
Posted by: Lightman
Cotts, you love mudfests. Do a spell check next time tooYou also know that you are scared of Concho Billy!
Posted by: Lightman
the bugs at bad luck prairie are unreal. I came back so bitten up from that place, I must have had 50 bites(literally) on my arms alone. Cortisone didn't help. Whatever type of biting flies or insects IN the mud there, it's pretty nasty. I dont think i'll go back there till its cooled off a bit and I can wear a long sleeve! Not trying to be a pus about bugs, but they are BAD there!!!
Posted by: Lightman
LOL beehatch! You wont even come down to bad luck prairie, I think your snorkels might be too small...
Posted by: Lightman
LOL! Sounds like a plan. I'll follow you with my superjet so I can tow your sunken aeess! Mudfest does sound cool, thinking about it. oh yea, BABABABABABAAAAAAAA
Posted by: Lightman
Brooksville, and yes there are campgrounds, and actually a hotel right in the parking lot. Check your pm's.

Went to Bad Luck on Saturday and man was it muddy!!! It was a blast I got my Warrior stuck about 50 times,
We were running the Gators out of there mud wholes this is very funny if you don't get stuck by a big one.
I found the simplest way to restart my Warrior after being completely submerged was to just stand it straight up
and let the water run out the tale pipe and fire it up. My guess is that this 4 wheeler was not made for this mud stuff.
We road from Noon till 1:30 AM lights and all. We had so many beers you could not feel the bugs bite.
Bad Luck is a blast just make sure you have plenty of bug spray and beer.

We ride every saturday night out ay Mac's fish camp on US 27 (about 40 minutes from Boca). Lots of mud but its better now that it has not rained so much. We usally ride and cookout. Anywhere from 15 to 40 bikes on a good night even more. I know Lightman got popped out there but I think thats because he was there during the week. We have never been hassled there at night. The group I go with is 3 grizzlys, a big bear, a rincon and a forman. Come go ride with us this Sat night.

Whose riding in South Florida this weekend and where at, lets get muddy
Posted by: Wishfulthinking
hey, im new at this forum stuff, but i live in lakeland, im 15 and a half (and the half counts). I ain't got a 4-wheeler yet wanna get a kfx 250, gotta get the truck first tho. But 555 is a great place to just go riding 4 wheeler dirt bikes and if you got a cushey a$$ even go-carts. I go out there alot with my friend who has a 400ex. If you got balls, i suggest riding at carter road park, there is som cool hills and dunes and good mud ruts, but the cops and the fish and wildlife nazis don't much like off roading of any type, but all my friends take their trucks out there and get all muddy
Posted by: Askey
Hey Man...I live in lakeland too and i got to 555 all the time whats ur name! And what kind of four-wheeler do you got?
