I raced the Millville (Spring Creek Raceways) Hare Scramble last year on my Banshee, and had an awsome time down there.
You race on the MX track and then head off into the woods to complete your 1st lap. The woods section had very nice twisty trails, with one nice downhill section. It was about 6 or 7 miles in total for one lap.
About the only thing you really need are nerf bars, and skid and glide plates.
It was worth the seven hour drive from Canada, and I'll be going again this year. I was glad to hear that Dist. 23 will have a whole series for atv hare scrambles this year.

Mike, I never encountered any mud or water there last year. When I raced last year, they didn't water the MX portion of the course. So when we all took off from the start, a huge dust cloud was created and I could barely see the end of my nose. I made the mistake of not closing my mouth, and I'm sure you can guess what happened :)
One thing you should get is a camel back. You can get REAL thirsty, and not to mention dehydrated in a hurry.

Sounds awesome. I would love to race. Does the track have much mud or water? I don't like mud or water but if it is minor, oh well. One more obstacle. Parents. I need to present this to them as a trail ride not a race! I'm going to call Nate Wentland and get him to tell me that it is not a race, just a trail ride. My friend knows him and he said he (Nate) is pretty cool.
I am planning on attending only a handful of hare scramble events, so I think I'm just going to pay $10 per day. Or should I buy the $40 District 23 card?
One more problem. The 14th is Mother's Day! Crap. It will take some serious sweet talking, but I'll try. Hope to see you guys there!

The only things that are required are, AMA card and District 23 membership. Also, basic riding gear. Like helmet, goggles, long sleeve shirt, ankle high boots.(all the no-brainer stuff)
The more stuff you have on your quad, the better shape you will be in.(nerf bars, performance parts, etc) I have a couple buddies that will be comming down there to race with stock machines also. The races are 60mins, plus one lap. So endurance is the key.
It will be a cool place to test your skills, but have a good time as well. We are all frinds here, and that's what the sport is all about.
As May 14th creeps closer. Keep in touch. Maybe we can look for each other down there, and put some faces too all of these names.
I'm in it too have some fun, and if I win. Great!!! If not, I know that I will have had a good time and made some new friends.
Ride on!!!!!

One more thing..... You will have to compete with the mighty 400EX, because Hare Scramble rules are alittle different. There are two classes, Sport quads, and utility quads. Sport quads being defined as any machine with a manual clutch, plus the Polaris Sport. Utility being all that remain.
But don't worry. It will not be as competitive as you think. There wouldn't be any $20,000 dollar rigs there, I garantee that. It can be anyones race at any time. And remember, it's just for fun......

I want to give it a try! I have raced sleds and bikes in closed course competition in the past. I was wondering what kind of course ths is. How long, type of terrain etc... I see there is a 200 - 350 cc 4 stroke class this will keep me from havng to compete with the mighty 400 EX I like that! Do I have to keep my quad stock or do I need modificatons to stay in the game? I know I need nerf bars according to the rules. I have not recieved an AMA rule book yet so any help will be appreciated greatly. So far, my quad is bone stock and I have sent in my AMA registration and I will soon send in my District 23 reistration to. But, I am asking all these questions so can be ready to go by May 14. I just have to keep up with my practice on the tracks and trails!
