its about 2 miles north of alto...if your coming from the south...will be on your left hand side...there is a big white sign....im not sure how much land is there but its quite a bit...and yes scooby lots of trails high and dry...LOTS of hills on one end of the place...i think it is better suited for sport quads since it has so many jumps and such

Posted by: BIGBEAR4x4

I forgot to mention....this place is open 24/7....so if ya like to ride with noone around go in the middle of tha week.....but me i like ridin with lots of people around...just my preference....so i wont go until they have another big organized ride....i didnt get to see the trucks or jeeps out there playin in the mudfield so i guess i will have to go there to c it one day

Posted by: BIGBEAR4x4

bout the hotels and gas station and such...im really not to sure...alto is kinda small but ya have jacksonville not to far away and also lufkin or nacogdoches...and i think just your dirt tires would do good less u wanna play some in the mud which i doubt ya would with that nice and pretty sport quad....and the spark arrestor deal...i havent a clue...but ya can call Shiloh Ridge themselves at 1-800-432-3965 or 1(409)858-4800...they will probably let u know bout places to stay etc etc.....also their email addy is bdbrooks@lcc.net

I have been there a couple times and going back agains ome time in April. It's great for anybody. The 1st 1/2 of the day I rode with a friend on a dirt bike doing the tracks & hills, the 2nd 1/2 rode with 4x4's on trails and mud. If it doesn't rain there isn't a lot of mud, but there is still mud, and some that is really thick... I need to find the date of when I am going again, maybe some other guys can go too and we can meet up. I am anxious to see that 650 in person, besides just at the dealer. By the way, we live in Austin, and it's worth the drive. We usually get there Friday afternoon/night and leave Sunday afternoon. Good camping and everything, including water.

Just call and talk to them. They are really nice people. They'll tell you where to eat and everything. We went into town a few nights and saw them eating there too. Alto is a small place, we couldn't find a hotel. Bring tents or trailer. They have water and electric that is easy to get, unless it's crowded, those spots get taken fast.

I wish you wouldn't have posted the way to get in without paying. So far I haven't seen anyone do it, and I didn't do it, but I hope no one else does. Why? Shiloh Ridge is one of the best places to ride in Texas. It's provate land and these guys don't have to let the public ride on it, even if they do charge for it. The way I see it the more they make the better, as long as they don't raise prices of course. More people went, so they were able to make more money, and afford electricity, water, drag strip, showers, etc.

I've never been there either. I am about 3 1/2 hours away and wonder how big the place is and if it is worth the drive? Are there mostly 4x4 ATVs there or are there good trails for fast sport ATVs?

Posted by: ScoobyDFW

How muddy do you think it will be there this weekend on the non-mud trails after a week without rain? Is there anything special going on? How many sport ATVs (banshees, 400EX, etc) do you typically see there at one time on the weekend?

Posted by: ScoobyDFW

One other question, is there a hotel nearby incase I don't feel like camping out for the night? How far is the nearest gas station, store, etc.? Should I bring both dune tires & dirt tires?

Posted by: ScoobyDFW

Does Shiloh Ridge require a spark arrestor?

Posted by: ScoobyDFW

Is anyone heading to Shiloh Ridge for the 3 day weekend? Is there anything special going on there this weekend? Will it be crowded? Is Shiloh Ridge a state park or privately owned property?

Posted by: ScoobyDFW

Which day is better for drag racing, Saturday or Sunday? The most crowded with sport ATVs. Does it thin out quick on Sunday after 12 noon?

Posted by: ScoobyDFW

I went there memorial day weekend on Sunday only. It is a decent place. It was very muddy when I went so I didn't go on all the trails.

Posted by: ScoobyDFW

Yeah that was me!

That's a tough one to answer. I haven't found anywhere decent to ride after work during the week. There is Lake Lavon, but it is REAL small, better than nothing I guess. There was also a small piece of land that people ride on without too much trouble from the cops, but I haven't been there recently, so I don't know if people still can ride there. Again it's not very much but better than nothing. You take 190 east to rowlett road, when you pass centerville road, it is the next right turn at the light. The dirt/mud area right as you make the turn is the place. I have heard of a place at Trinity & 360? People get hurt there and the cops might crack down there, I dunno. Not sure how far that is, probably too far for after work.

They are having a sand drag race this weekend and i am wondering how good ofa place this is to ride .It is near alto tx and about two hours away from where i am .

Posted by: C&S

Alto is in between nacogdoches & palestine. From houston take highway 59 north to lufkin . 69 to alto .

Hey Scooby. Noticed your from Plano too. I just bought a '99 Sport 400 few weeks ago. Was wondering if you have found any local trails in the area? Someplace that would be easy to get to on the weekdays after work. Was Shiloh Ridge worth the trip, maybe better if it wasnt as muddy that weekend?
