I no that BRF & danbury are now checkin all atv's for sound & spark arrester's so if any of ya guys have after market pipes that might be a problem
when did they start checking at Danbury? I've only experienced checks in BRF.
Dad put the paint down, thay checked us when we were there last weekend or did ya forget???
They did not set up any SAE sound testing in Danbury like they do in BRF THey just were checking WI ATV trail stickers. In fact they thought Big Sled was pulling you with a strap because they could not even hear the Kawi running! You must have offered to paint that guys DNR truck!

If you are driving north on I94, then you can take this route to get to the trailhead in Eau Claire County.
Is it 19 miles from US10 & I94 intersection.
Don't forget to make sure your quads are topped off with fuel before arriving. I think we may be able to pick up some extra trail maps for you guys also.

The next time some poor SOB races me down a fire road and gets his a$$ whipped and then tries to say I spit a rock at him will need the ER. This dick was some lame moron who started racing me down a straight section after I started to pass him in third gear. He was all mouth, just like the guy that was off his quad yelling at you. After after about 5 minutes I got off my quad and asked him about his REAL problem. He then crawled back into his mouse hole and shut up.
When I arrived at sign post 16, where we all were going to meet, no one was there. I waited for a while and then got sick of arguing with the sore looser on the Raptor. Went up to the next sign post, rode right past the copter and waited an hour there for everyone. Met up with Bioware, Zizard and decided to back track looking for you, BS and Tapper. Went all the way back to #13 and did not find anyone.
I did not see anymore accidents on my return route back to the trucks.
Where about was the second accident?

Hey why did you leave before everyone got back?
I took my truck out looking for the other three riders thinking they ran out of gas. I backtracked about 15 miles and did not find them so BS and I decided to head to August to get fuel for the quads and then return to look for the rest of the group. We got a call from them when we were just about to the lot to unload again and go look.
You split kinda earlier there group rider! What if you never made it back and we all left without looking for you?
Wasn't too happy knowing I spent over an hour looking for you and BS and an hour waiting at the trailhead only to find out you split without knowing what happened to the rest of the group.

You are taking bits of infomation and quoting them leaving out important details.
I'll post a chronological list of what transpired when I have time so you know every step of what transpired.
As for some guy saying I spit rocks... if you want to listen to that garbage then go ahead. Did he show you where he got hit by some rocks? The only guy I passed from sign 13 to 16 and that was the guy on the raptor trying to race me down the fire road. I never passed the other 4 guys in our group because they got lost and were half way to Neilsville.
I did not need extra gas because I was sitting waiting not driving my quad until I finally met up with the three guys that never showed at #16. I then rode back to #13 looking for you, BS and Tapper (took another hour).
Why didn't you just give Tapper directions to get to I94 or give BS some of your gas to go look for the rest of us?

You guys that did not make the ride yesterday missed one of the best rides of the year.. perfect conditions, NO DUST.. three of us rode together and were able to see clearly from back to front while all within close proximity of each other.
Plus no hun-yucks getting their poor egos blown apart...
all I can say is "SURFS UP" ... you guys missed it.

Wow.. .what a day of riding.
BS and I stalked the woods for prey and all we could find was intense riding with superb conditions.. We even put down 50 miles into uncharted territory located in Black RIver Falls.. places that DaButcher has neven seen yet!! and BRF was just groomed!!! Then we added another 25 miles of route in Eau Claire county that is only known to 3 or 4 people..

you ran out of fuel twice with your quad and I made you take fuel in a soda bottle so you could make it back and not run out again.. REMEMBER! You never went far enough after that to run out.. ie why you haven't ridden more than 75% of each area. You were limited to just 55 to 60 miles between fuel stops.

you have never towed me out of CLark. I towed you two times. 1- when your rear carrier bearings seized. 2- when some moron put +2 a-arms on your quad and factory length tie rods that proceeded to pull right out of the ball joints . BTW I hope that was't you. 3- when you ran out of gas in glamis because you forgot to put your fuel knob back on "on" instead of reserve. Wait you ran out of gas again?? thats three times!

Myself, Zizard (James) and my friend Dave (the one that won't ride with me anymore according to Butchy) all took in a 190 mile ride including Clark County and the 50 mile secret loop in Jackson County WOW why can't the entire route be that nice.
Hun-Yuks were out in full force over the Labor Day weekend trying to determine how many beers it would take before they started on with their drunk bar talk. We had one woman yelling at James for going 10.5 mph behind me and passing her!!!!! I was using my GPS to check my speed. I think she wanted to be James mother!! Another drunk had his group of 15 parked in the middle of the trail, having a beer break, and ran out in front of me to stop me when we were coming by. He then proceeded to give us $hit and tried to start a fight with us because he thought he was Clark County Trail Boss in his drunk rage!!!!!! After the yelling escalated on our part and he found that his drunk buds were not backing him up anymore he started with the get down on your knees and apologize routine. MAN what is it with these Hun Yuks?
On the way back about 15 miles from the parking lot I came up over a rise and into a downhill right hand sweeper when out of no where a whitetail runs directly in front of me across the trail. It was running thru the woods, probably from the approaching noise and happened to cross my path at the worst moment.
I did not even have time to hit the brakes. Just braced for impact and knocked it over after hitting it with my front tire and Bill Balance Bumper. At impact I just about went over the handlebars.. nailed the knee on the front brake handlebar clamp. Fortunately the deer was knocked over and I got to log jump it. Felt lucky to have kept it in control and not go for the dismount. Quad even came thru without any damage. A-arms, plastics, headlights, shocks, bumpers were all fine. Only thing I found is the rear fuel tank bolt was sheared off..
I'm just glad it was a young small deer.. otherwise it might have ended my riding for a while.
Should have taken a picture with my camera phone.. drug it off the side of the trail so no one else would hit it. James and I were going to slit its neck but it died shortly after.

you should think about riding this fall.. some of the best times to ride.. crowds thin out and once the leaves are down you can see 100% better.

With two trail systems, the Snake Creek Management Unit has slopes that rise 300 feet above the valley floor. On the north side is a remote trail for hikers and cross-country skiers. There are five miles of trail loops, varying in length and difficulty. The second trail system is a 13.5-mile loop on the valley?'s south side. This is open to all trail users except four-wheel-drive vehicles. Campgrounds are available on-site and at Carley State Park.
Trout Valley Management Unit is located in northern Winona and southern Wabasha counties. The area includes Trout Creek, a spring-fed trout stream. Steep wooded ridges and bluffs flank the stream. The seven-mile Trout Valley Trail provides scenic overlooks of the Trout, Whitewater, and Mississippi River valleys.

James and I made it out for a 100 mile ride in Clark county on Sunday.. well James got in 50 miles.. He wanted to call it a day after testing out his Thor chest protector again. He evidently has a contract with Thor to find out just how good those chest protectors are in various types of get-offs. So far the Thor product really seams to be performaing quite well. Heck I've even tested mine (Thor also) a few times and it worked wonders.
Forgot about the last trip I made to Danbury a few weekends ago. Was heading down a long straight dirt county road at about 55 mph and to my surprise I see these two guys on quads racing almost neck and neck going by me. There was a guy on a white 660 raptor racing another guy on a white KFX. They both looked like they were in complete battle with each other. I decided to roll on the throttle and went by them just to see if I could recongnize who they were??
Anyone else see these two guys racing? I couldn't see who was winning from my angle and just thought maybe someone else saw it go down and could tell me who spanked who???

mnrap, will you have to wear the helmet cam because you will always be ahead of us at about 1/4 throttle ?? i think if we wore it , it wouldnt work thru the dust. plus we could see how long you actually wait before you pass someone and spit rocks at them and their children..
I know it would have been rocking to catch that deer running out in front of me before I got fur on my front end.

There were allot of hunters out driving on the quad trails so if anyone is going riding during the next couple of weeks use EXTREME caution to avoid hitting a vehicle around a blind corner.
I should have went riding both days this weekend.. sounds like you guys had a nice ride.

Sounds like a bunch of us are getting together on July 4th to ride quad over at Tri-County, and maybe a little dirt biking in another spot. I've talked to the owners and all indications are that the expansion will be completed July 1st. I personally checked the trail to "the other side" on Thursday, and it is there, and cleared. The "Stay on Trail" and "Trail Closed" signs are gone.

It looks like Trahan has taken back on his word about the pit opening July 1st. Right now he says he's waiting for insurance??? That is really funny, since DNR Grant-in-aid trail systems do not require the owner to have insurance. Something smells fishy here. There were a lot of upset people that were told July 1st by him, just to drive over and find that it's still closed.
At any rate, I now can't be certain if the pit will be officially opened by July 4th or not. You should consider yourself warned if you plan to come out.
On the bright side, I did see the pit expansion with my own eyes, and if you liked some of the elevation changes at Bauer's Pit, then I think you will be in for quite a treat here.
ZButcheR: I got the YFZ out to the St. Croix trails last weekend and it was a blast. Zizard and myself will probably be up for going again, hopefully after some rain! Let us know if you'll be up in the vicinity...

Hey guys. Yes, I'm alive. I was at the Jordan SX last night pitting for a friend of mine. The Clark/Jackson county trails sound like fun. My other friends weren't opposed to it either. Hopefully there isn't too many deeper mud holes?
My girlfriend lives in Hudson, WI so I might just be able to spend the night (hehe) and then leave early the next morning. That would get me an hour leg up anyhow...

I've always worried about hitting a deer out on the trail! Even came close to a bear once... Glad to hear nothing more serious happened. By the way, I loved the dune pics! I definitely need to make it out there sometime.
The whole beer thing though really scares the crap out of me. Sounds like more enforcement needs to take place since people obviously can't police themselves. If that's where all the drunks are going on the long weekends now, then I think I'll just hit the small private areas we have!

Most of the time we meet @ the Mcdonalds right B4 you go into WI around 6:30 that gets us into eau claire area about 8:30ish then about 3+ hours ride time to the lake, lunch & then back around 7 or so give or take.
Bio if ya want mybe meet us @ the trail head up north from the lake then ride down & back w/ us?????
Then those that want to stay @ the lake can & those that want to make the trek back to mn can

They did not set up any SAE sound testing in Danbury like they do in BRF THey just were checking WI ATV trail stickers. In fact they thought Big Sled was pulling you with a strap because they could not even hear the Kawi running! You must have offered to paint that guys DNR truck!

BS, Star/Li'l john & myself did the clark/brf run on saterday, It stoped raing 2 hours B4 we left so no dust & was not to wet. up by the parking lot was just groomed & was in the best condition I hav seen it. Down by the lake was nice as well, brf was a bit bumpy & wet with the same well I think its the same drunk in the middle of the trail..(Ok look I dont care or give a rip How long or what way you or your drunkin pals go threw a water hole.. Take your advice, cocktail & your drunk a$$ & get off the trail idiot) other then that it was a great time.

We can camp there again that sould not be a problem with that. Danny was the one on the 400ex. And todd sold his quad and bought a motorcycle. He was a big wimp anyway, always complained it was too wet or cold.. Let me get with Dan and see if that works for him..

I just though that we were going to meet there. That is where it says start and ends where you guys are going to park. If you want us to meet you up there I will have to wake the boys up very early just to make it by 8:30, to ride the quads up there. We are camping at east Arbutus lake It is not a problem we can ride up there it will be fun. That will be a good days ride then. We can keep in touch through the phones if you get reception up in the woods.

I just want everyone to know that was a great ride on Saturday. Just alot of people getting hurt on the way back. Dan, James, and I were having to wait intil they took the guy out and put him in Med Flight, that is why it took so long for us to get back. But you should of see how his leg was bent, Man it looked like it hurt. Can't wait intil next trip.

That guy was on a ATV, looked like he came around a corner to fast and hit the bank on the side of the trail and fliped over, from what his buddy said the quad was on top of him and he had to lift it off. His left leg was by his right ear, looked like it was dislocated and his right arm was dislocated. But he looked like a prezel.

I understood what was up, and why they wanted to stay behind. It does not matter, I had a good ride, and the DS650 took a good beating.
All is well, quad still runs, and i have no broken body parts. I say it was a good ride.

I hate the drunks that go out to BRF. Glad that MNRAP, ZIZARD had a good ride. Dan and I took a Day ride to Darlington WI. on Monday. Then out of Nowhere I got a Ticket. The quad was to loud, 160.68 was the total of the fine. This sucks because I wanted to ride a Few more time before winter, and the wife said that I should take a break for a while.... Like James Told me got to pay to play.. I still had a blast...

Hey Guys need some help on where to ride up near duluth in the winter. I have some family coming up from alabama and thought it would be a blast to take them out riding in the winter. i am just not Sure where to take them. No My daughter is almost 4 and likes to ride in front of me on are utility just 250 that i have right now. we do wear helmets just wasnt sure if that is ok on the state trails. sorry if that seemed confusing i dont own a two up.

the guys here in mn have too long of a haul i think , to go to hayward. especially if we are driving back the same day. i know brian ( klier) lives near fairbult, mn so that would really be a long haul for him. mabey shawn and him could catch a ride together . shawn has been trying to get these guys out of the gravel pit for a long time now , so i think we have to keep the location more nuetral couldnt you guys camp at lake artibus again ?

i thought you guys were going to meet us where shawn and i usually start( see map)
going down to hatfield, for us, is going to throw another hour on to our drive time (round trip) we are already traveling over 2 hours that morning

those directions are street directions for you guys from your camp grounds to the trail head where we start. you would trailer your wheelers up there 20-30 min. than we would ride our quads down to hatfield and back. we go home. you go back to hatfield

sounds like mnrap didnt want to stay around and argue anymore w/ the raptor he smacked all over the trail ...at 1/2 throttle ( cant blame him) i personally would have went back alittle down the trail and waited. knowing that zbutcher and myself had to be behind .. not have went ahead..and the waiting times are probably alittle exagurated
on the other hand, zbutcher gets bad marks for poor group ride manners by leaving to go home....and while bs bakes in heat w/ empty camelbak and no lighter /flint/gun/ food/gas...

should have had mnrap make you a copy of his pipe test. it basically states that the dnrs' machine is wrong..... works like a charm..he is now in the stages of drafting a report that would discredit the breathalizer, he should be able to sell alot of them to the inbread, drunks on the wi. trails..
