Go to mapquest.com, and do a trip plan to Mears, Michigan ( Silver Lake Sand Dunes) or Waynoka, Oklahoma ( Little Sahara) and go to the closest one, or even better, try both, I live in Minnesota, it was about 15 -16 hours to each, so I went to Silver Lake one year, then Little Sahara, both are fun, just don't go to Oklahoma in the summer, it gets damn hot !! If you have the time and money, a trip to California and the Glamis dunes is supposed to be the ultimate ride, with Coos Bay in Oregon a close second.

If you don't like endless tire spinning, sailing off the top of a big dune, throwing a huge roost as you sidehill the tip of a dune and seeing some of the wildest looking sand vehicles in the country, then no, you won't like sand riding !!! If you go once, you will be counting the days until you go again, its a type of riding all it's own, no set trails, just running wide open until you just can't any more !! After my son'd first trip this spring, he is already counting the days to next year.

well said, were just an hour and a half from little sahara. sand is the funest stuff to ride on, jump with smooth landing and very forgiving if you wreck, and it is usually 120 on the sand in the summer unless it just got done raining, but right know its about 70 to 80 in the day and 40 or 50 in the evinings
