First off, what kind of machine do you ride???? Mostly this is more sport bike country, but a utility can be usefull in some places. I have two groups I ride with, one is pure desert sport bikes and the other is a utiltiy group (mostly guys who live in the mountains) who go out looking for terrifying terrain. (I am in the process of selling off my utilities, and switching to dirt bikes for mountain riding.)

Basically, you have the high desert (eg. Stoddard Wells, Johnson Valley, Dove Springs/Jawbone, Rasor Road), the low desert (eg. Ocotillo Wells, Superstition Mountain), the San Bernardino and San Gabrial Mountains, the dunes (eg. Glamis, Dumont, Pismo), and the Eastern Sierra (eg. Kennedy Meadows, Bishop/Mammoth) My favorite spot for trails is in the San Bernardino Mtns!

I have a buddy who lives in Chino Hills. I will have him PM you.

I'll find some links and post them.................

I give detailed directions to Miller Canyon here: http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=338649&parentpage=4

This is a good place to stage from for San Bernardino Mountain rides (trails behind Lake Arrowhead). It is at lower altitude, so you don't have to do a long drive into the mountains, yet you can ride up to some nice places. Plus if it snows this weekend, you can do some snow riding at higher altitude............

Posted by: reconranger

Beware if Gus is going, because that means there will probably be a flash flood or something!

The snow level is supposed to be real low this weekend. Miller Canyon catches a lot more snow than the surrounding area, plus parts are in the shade so it lasts too. I'm still nursing an injured shoulder, and probably can't ride for another month. Enjoy........

Leaving work in about 4 hours, packing up the toys and heading out there! Of course after I stop for the beer and brats!

Hope everyone had a good time this weekend, we did! But what the heck is going on out there? We usually camp off of Dale Evans but a little bit further down than the big area right by the freeway. If you go past that area and down to Stoddard Wells Road, hang a left and go down about 3-4 miles there's some awesome riding and camping. However that area is now off limits! Apparently the landowners at the Dale Evans/Stoddard Wells intersection convinced the person who owns that land to outlaw camping and off roading. You now have to go down into the BLM owned land which is a bit further down and is not as nice for camping. All it took was a few @$$holes to start riding on the paved roads by the homes! (We found this out from one of vendors on duty this weekend.) I know the ostrich farmers are a bit upset and it probably won't be long until they shut down that area right off the freeway.

On the plus side, we did quite a bit of riding to scout out future campsites and found tons and tons of untapped (at least for us) riding areas that we never went to before!

If you want to go off road to this area from the freeway staging spots just follow the power line road that runs parallel to the freeway northbound. You'll go up over a hill and back down. In the middle of the valley is another dirt road that runs east. Take that and in about 15 to 20 minutes you'll be at the BLM land that has some pretty nice trails.

See you at the poker run the last weekend of the month? Out by the Slash-X off hwy 247! Tons of fun!

How do you like the KFX? Hopefully in the next year I'll be finally getting myself a new quad (versus getting the kid one, she's on her third in 4 years - gotta stop feeding her) and I'm torn between the KFX700 and the Yamaha 700R. I've ridden a friend's 660R and it is sweet. Any opinion on the Kawasaki?

By the way the poker run is the 29th and 30th out by the Slash X. It's a good time! www.barstowpokerrun.com

Posted by: katstoy

Don't get off the freeway at the 395, keep on heading towards Vegas and get off in Barstow at the 247. Turn right on 247 and go down about 12 miles to the Slash X Cafe (on the right). You will see tons of toyhaulers/motorhomes/etc. parked way behind the cafe. Motor on in and join the fun. This weekend in the Barstow Poker Run. www.barstowpokerrun.com It's lots of fun and you'll meet lots of people, about half ride ATV's and the other hald dirt bikes. Good party at the Slash-X in the evenings too!

Posted by: katstoy

Yep, my Labor Day weekend is planned to tune up the toys and clean up the toyhauler! Since it's been cooling off at night, we may just hit Stoddard Valley in September.

BTW, when the kid had her red sticker Suzukis, never had a problem with enforcement before Oct 1 or after May 1.

I went to Johnson Valley last weekend. Ity was a blast!

We went there 2 years ago (did not know it was going on), It was a fun time!
Go HERE for a map.

Welcome to the forums.
You will learn of many places to ride on here.
Johnson Valley, El Mirage, Stodderd Wells, or up here in the mountains (even Azusa Cyn can be a little fun).
Just be sure to pick up your trash before you leave.
Just this past weekend, we were camped near a group of young kids, all in tents.
They don't seem to have camped very much, but they left ALL THEIR TRASH laying around.
There is no trash service.

Have fun and ride safe.

Broke your plastic?

Posted by: HappywithVForce

Hey Alien, Putter or ?, I am going camping the weekend before Halloween to a group of sand dunes that nobody knows about. I have camped there for over 25 years. It is a great place to take the kids and teach them about the dunes. The dunes are not big, but there are alot of them and they are a blast. You can camp on hard ground and be surounded by dunes. That weekend you get an extra hour 'cause you put your clocks back. They are out the I-10, past Indio, past Chiracho Summit, and very near the town of Desert Center. This is about 75 min. before Blythe. Some of my pics on my page are at these "secret dunes".
I really don't want to post the location on here, but if you think you might like to explore a new dune spot, PM me for easy directions.

I hope he is doing OK. I know not riding is NOT OK though. You need to try my "secret dune" area near Desert Center. I am packing now and leaving tomorrow about 6:30am. It is a longer drive, but it is over an hour closer than Glamis. Have fun at Johnson Valley. If you find the time, head east about 4 miles to the little dunes out there (from Soggy Dry Lake).
Ride safe and I hope you are not riding alone!

Hi there,

I'm in Chino Hills as well, and I love riding around here.
Wayne (reconranger) and some of the people on this forum actually showed me all the amazing places to go around here.
Send me an email and we'll get together sometime. gus@chyba.net
I am a trail rider, I have a 4x4 Outlander Max 2-seater ATV and a Yamaha Rhino side x side.

What kind of machine(s) do you have?

Gus

Posted by: GusinCA

We're meeting there on Sunday at 10:30 am. Can you make it?

Posted by: GusinCA

Me? Bad luck? BR>Ask Wayne how he hurt his shoulder (or was that your wrist) when he went over backwards on that hill where we're going Sunday...
But I do have a video I can send you (if you have high speed internet) of what we ran into at Miller Canyon during a rainstorm last month...

Posted by: GusinCA

Sure, shoot me an email gus@chyba.net

Posted by: GusinCA

Man, every now and then you just have the perfect day...

www.chyba.net/02-18-2006.htm

Posted by: GusinCA

That was Miller Canyon / Lake Silverwood area.

Posted by: GusinCA

We'll probably do Silverwood, maybe a short hop over Cleghorn Mountain as well.
Should be perfect conditions, that is to say:

Sunny
Some Snow
Lots of Mud
Hills
Rocks
Water

Basically a big mess.
I'm getting all happy just thinking about it.

Posted by: GusinCA

Well, Robbie and I just got back from Miller Canyon, Lake silverwood.
There was so much snow, that if there hadn't been some tracks to follow, we wouldn't have made it up the mountain.
But it was spectacular. Just amazing.
We even had my wife behind the Rhino on her snowboard...

Here's some pictures of the wonderous whiteness...

Posted by: ElImmigrante

We're going on a 4x4 riding trip this weekend but I may be able to sneek in a ride next weekend. The week after that I'll be in Dumont.

Posted by: ElImmigrante

You camping over night?

I'm not sure if I can make it Saturday but I was going to try and get out there Sunday.

Posted by: ElImmigrante

Thanks.

I drive a new lifted blacked out F250 and will probably tow the bikes on a white Zeiman trailer. I know exactly where that camp is. If we make it out, based on your description, it shouldn't be difficult to find you.

There is a "guys" ride on the trails behind Lake Arrowhead this Sunday. Lots of single track and some fairly technical stuff, so this isn't a ride for the kids or beginners. We will stage from Miller Canyon, and probably end up at Deep Creek.

Posted by: Putter700R

well hope everyone had a good ridethis weekend. i tryed hard to get up and ride but something was agenst me and it finaly won. like i said, i hade a hard time getting the wifes bike to run. finally late friday night after the third cleaning. it ran beautiful!! so we loaded up and i hit the hay about midnight. all looked good sat. morning, and we headed down the road. going up the 15 just passed Serra, Wamm looked in my review mirror to see a car bounce of my trailer!! #$^& !$%^!!!!!!! as he pass i see my licence plate flying off in the middel of the freeway!! #%^&! i pulled up behind them on the shoulder, exchanged info & took pictures.

the damage, he took out my left tail light, licence plate gone, wrinkeled the fender, damaged the rim.his front fender was wasted, damaged his rim and passander door. he said the wing blew him(it wasnt that windy!) had the chp come out to try to get my licence plate. he tryed but could not find it, so we decited to head home since we had no tail light, licence plate and a damaged wheel. we made it home fine. hope to take it in this week to see if the axel is bent.

i guess the full moon brings out all the idiots, even during the morning!

Posted by: Putter700R

By the way, thanx for the advice, but is there any other things i should know about breaking in my machine right? all i know so far is not to go too fast, and let it warm up b4 i ride.

read your owners manual,
i go two- three tanks full with not more than half throttle(i know its hard) i like steady speeds like out on the dry lake bed, varying the speed of the motor. change the oil and let her rip!

Posted by: Putter700R

Hey happy, that sounds like fun, right now were looking into toyhaulers for that reason.right now its been just day trips (she's not going for the tent thing!) going to the RV show on sat. to check them out. hope to have one soon. then we'll set a weekend up for that.

Posted by: bkwyoming

Hey DC,
When I go to Johnson Valley if I want to camp toward the back I get off at Stoddered Wells road and go east. It will cross Dale Evans, keep going straight you'll hit dirt and there are a bunch of places to camp about 1 mile down the road maybe less. Or you can get off at Dale Evans, make a right and camp right there on your left by the freeway....or you can keep going and Dale Evan will run into stoddard wells road also.Make a left...Both those pole roads will take you to the slash X .....Pretty cool little place. Looks like rain up there this weekend....BTW its nice to go right off the freeway there...AAA can find you fast......My son locked the keys in the truck...thank god my cell phone was in my fanny pak....

Yup your right, Bell Mountain.....See what happens when you fall too often.....

Posted by: bkwyoming

Well Guys, it snowed..holly cow did it snow....and rain....Almost went to Bell mountain, but it was just too cold for my little one..So we went up to wrightwood about 11am on saturday to play in the snow and there was plenty of it. Snow level was pretty low. There were snow fluries down on the 15 and silverwood exit...I asume the pass was getting hit pretty hard also.. It was about 22 degrees up there and the wind was blowing about 10-20mph at times.....Basically played until everyone was frozen, ate at the little summit cafe and came home...Still thawing out today...Did anyone get brave enough to go ride? I guess if theres no response there still stuck there......lol....

Posted by: bkwyoming

I've got the all clear for sunday...Thinking of Bell Mountain. / /stoddard valley..or El Mirage. Just need to get out and air out...

Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

Hey Putter, Hope ya had a good memorial weekend, sure went fasst.....I ended up going out on sunday with Kyle for the day, very nice, lots of people. I did notice a few things in my exploring..The area off Stoddard Wells road is moved back the the big staging area over the rise..I still saw people out there parked and riding, but there were signs that said no camping in those areas...People were parked everywhere out there. Also off of Dale Evans there were still people out there parked and riding, I didn't see any signs...some were camping also...so not sure on how thats gonna pan out. I spent most of my weekend working on the house, how about you???? Looks like riding seasons just about over, gettin pretty hot out there....

This weekend is bad for me, heddin to Arizona for my dads 69th B-day...But Pismo sounds like a plan next month....I love Pismo...I'm usually up there every Memorial weekend, since about 1980....started with my buggy then got the 3-wheelers and now its the 4-wheelers...just let me know what weekend your planning to go....and the mountains sound cool also, never been up by big bear or Arrowhead...just keep lettin me know when ya go.....I'm still here like you baggin on that never ending list for the house.....Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

Hey putter ya woke up..October sounds good to me..Still kinda hot.Did you ever get up to pismo??? I'm gonna plan a trip next year for Memorial Weekend. Its not that I like all the people, but the Strawberry Festival is going on up in Arroyo Grande, and the kids and wife like all that stuff, and then we usually hit the hot tubs one night to relax. Its a blast....How was your summer, schools about ready to start, we've been getting all that together, plus I'm a Scout leader, so were getting our calender ready for that as well.....keep in touch, so we can all get together and play again...Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

I think I may be goin out there the 7th. with kyle..may have a few others that want to tag along.....I'll let ya know for sure this weekend.....wife has alot of honey do's in store but I'm trying to push them back a week or so....

Posted by: bkwyoming

Hey, have you heard that the 15 is closed up by Devore???? Anyone else hear about this. And is that the only spot? From looking at some sites it looks like it could be a nightmare...What do ya think.

Posted by: bkwyoming

Ok,
So it will only take 4 hours to get home instead of 2..Hmmmm. What time are you headed out there, early am...Let me know. I was almost thinking of going up to Gorman, since its the other way and not a problem....Maybe next trip...Just let me know. Looks like my freinds are thinking of going up on Sunday instead of saturday. I don't wanna even think of driving home on sunday in that mess....The bad thing is there is no easy way to get home from there except a helicopter.....Hmmmm. Oh well, just let me know what time your headin up there. Hey if we leave late on friday night we'll be there by saturday..LOL Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

Ok Putter,

I'm ready to roll. Just load up the bikes on friday and thats all she wrote...What time ya wanna meet up there, or stop for breakfast at the Summit? Or just roll on in. Let me know. PM me with your # again, I still might have yours in my truck from last time, I'll check, if Not I'll Pm you mine.....

Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

We'll just have to tow it....LOL . The old saying is if its getting spark and getting gas its gonna run. How well, well that depends...Floats probably stuck from gas sitting in it.....Thats a quikie job, you should be done by the time its time to go.......clean the plug off to just to be safe...

Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

Sent ya a private message with my #.. I"ll be leaving here at about 7, get there about 8:30 or so.....Call me if your on the road if your ahead of me or behind.....Hope all is well...

Posted by: bkwyoming

Hey Putter,
So what happend after we talked? We didn't see ya, so figured you went back home, or did you go up to soggy dry lake?
Had a great time. Looks like they finally got the staging area off of Dale Evans cleared out, still saw a truck or two, but I also say a sheriff hanging around in a Burb, so we went down to stoddard wells road and went in.....I road over in that area, not many people, also saw some real estate signs out in the middle of nowwhere. Just glad you guys are ok..What ended up happening??? Come on give us the scoop...

Posted by: bkwyoming

Well Putter,

Just glad everyone is ok, thats what matters...the material things can be fixed, well I guess so can you now days, but the point is everyone is safe. Ya we missed ya, but your in one peice...Now if you would just learn how to drive we'd see more of ya.....your not in bummper cars anymore...LOL, just kidding. I'm going up again this weekend to Calico to do some 4Wheeling and some shooting and spend the night, so that should be fun....Glad to see some more people wanna go riding....I'm fairly new and its a good group of people that go out, so anyone will have fun......Hope to see ya'll soon....

Wyoming

HI David,

It couldn't be any closer. You go up Azuza canyon pass the bridge for the east fork...you'll see the enterance on the right. Alot of 4 wheelers go up there, some bikes. Not alot of room to play, rocks, mud and water. I used to go up there 4 wheeling, only took my bike once up there. But its close enough you could go check it out. I'm one of those who doesn't like riding in circles, I need some room to run.....Hope that helps....

Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

Yup Putter,
Know how ya feel...Thats why we got our motorhome for the same reason.....We were gonna get a toy hauler, but I already have a big bike / buggy trailer like you do, plus a boat, so the motor home was a quick fix.....easy to set up and all the conveinences of home.....Good luck, nows the time to look....used ones are out there too that people have purchased and found out there too small or just didn't use them or switched to a motor home.....You also have to watch the size, alot of campgrounds have size limits........cause once ya get one they can be used for everything....Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

I guess that would depend on how far your willing to drive....Some places are close, Like Ocotillo wells, Anza borrego Desert, or there are some dunes in Yuma Az, which is nice riding, or Erinburg Arizona, just east off the 10, are some dunes and washes, and then from the Cal, AZ boarder, to quartzsite, is all kinds of riding on the right...Open desert, washes, hills, rocks you name it...big area....you can look all these places up...and I think Dirt wheels has an article this month on where to ride in Arizona.....Everyone goes to Glamis......or those secret dunes one of the guys mentioned, which when I have a chance I'm gonna check out....since I have a little one......Hope that helps...

Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

Got a chance to go out with my boy over new years weekend, sat....lots of people out off stoddard wells road...not to bad, great weather, I think is was like 62 during the day...But no wind......great time.....Anyone been out riding lately ????? Tis the season........Hope everyone had a great christmas and new years...time to start all over again......

mw

Posted by: bkwyoming

How is Hungry Valley these days..... I used to get off at the exit for Pyramid and go in the back way....is that still open, and if so can you get a motorhome down that road???? Are they still out there in force, the rangers I mean.....I used to ride up there when I had my 400yz and have had my manx 4 seater out there.....it does get cold about this time of year....

Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

sounds good, I'll try and make it...nothing planned so far.....Bout time you woke up from your nappy.....I've already been out twice, end of last year and once this year already....and yes I have a ton of honey do's left and pending...But sometimes ya just gotta ride......

Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

Well did you go out riding...I was trying to make it, but still have some honey doos to do......soon though.....this is some pretty crazy weather....Is the trailer ok, or did you get a new one.....Fill me in.....Cat got your tongue.....speak up.....LOL

Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

Hey Putter, sorry I missed ya. Its saturday and just reading my mail...I might be available to go in two weeks, thats March 10th or so......Ya that looks good to me....I'll keep an eye on this thing to make sure your gonna go.........How was today,,,looked great but sure was windy down here....Probably worse up there...

Posted by: bkwyoming

I might come out saturday..Wife and son went to Arizona to see cousins because Friday is off for some kids...Let me know, I can shoot up there for the day....I'm Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

Hey Putter, Missed ya on saturday. My Hot water heater decided to give up the ghost..What a mess, and at 3 in the morning. Thank God for wet dry vacs....By the time I got it all done it was about 10:30, I was to tried to do anything.....Were gonna head out to Calico, Mule Canyon the end of March 30-31-1, so some riding, mine exploring...Theres about 3 or 4 other trailers going out, so should be some fun....Let me know if you want to come..Its a nice area to explore....Hope your ride went well last week....

Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

No its not a good way to start a weekend....That must have been why I felt the urge to go in the middle of the night, I heard the water running.....Made for a long day thats for sure.....Calico is still a go...was gonna take my buggy out, but its up on jacks in the driveway waiting for me to fix the tranny leak.....I guess it just doens't end does it.....Good greif....

Mike

Posted by: bkwyoming

Wow I havn't been out there in quite a while. I'm headed the other way to Barstow that weekend....Let us know next time you go up there, I wouldn't mind going up there to check it out.....Have fun and be carefull.....

Or you can get off at Dale Evans, make a right and camp right there on your left by the freeway....or you can keep going and Dale Evan will run into stoddard wells road also.Make a left...Both those pole roads will take you to the slash X .....Pretty cool little place.

It's a good time! www.barstowpokerrun.com

well i love the kfx 700 v-twin see the problem ppl are having is that its fully auto no shifter atall and i love it plus the power is the best iv been on for a stock bike when i get the mods it will be the sh*t....

OK guys.....you've got a Southern Boy transplant here in CA from VA by way of MS. I am new to the So Cal area and needless to say I'm not really sure of all the places to go riding out here yet. I have been looking at Octillo Wells, but honestly I am more used to more trail riding and a little mudding (every now and then). So I am asking all the So Cal people out there to give me some ideas preferably within an hour or so of LA. I appreciate the info in advance.....just tough when your new to the area and don't know anyone.--Rob

Posted by: SoCalQuadr

I appreciate all the information. Actually, before I moved out here I sold a '98 Arctic Cat 400 2x4 because I didn't think that I would have time or places to go riding out here. Kept my '02 Shadow A.C.E beacuase I thought I would ride it out here, but it quickly became apparent that the drivers out here are nuts and I wouldn't want to take my chances on the freeways. Sold it and got a '05 King Quad a few months ago and have just been getting it ready to go out....that's my excuse, just been really busy with work and a 9 month old.

Gus, sounds like you may know of some decent places close to Chino Hills so setting a ride would definitely be something I could do on a Sat or Sun. Drop me a line @ rcrain_ms@hotmail.com.

Rob

Posted by: SoCalQuadr

Are you saying Gus is bad luck?? Hopefully, my King and his Bomb will keep us out of any trouble. Looking forward to getting out and seeing some of the better parts of California. Get your shoulder healed so that we all could go out next time.

Posted by: SoCalQuadr

Sure, send me the video and let me get an idea of what's to come....and maybe Wayne can give us a rundown on what happened and what he recommends so that it doesn't happen to me.

Posted by: SoCalQuadr

Man if I wasn't sick as a dog I would take you up on it. Sounds like it is going to be a great weekend to be out. Have enough fun for me too. img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">

Posted by: SoCalQuadr

Appreciate that Putter700, I'm feeling better but still can't hear anything out of the left ear. Planning on going out this weekend regardless...may I can shake it open. Probably going back out to the Silverwood area, maybe I can see what it is like witout snow this time.

Posted by: SoCalQuadr

You know...I thought there was quite a bit of snow the last time Gus and I did Miller Canyon, but you definitely know there is a lot more when you pass snow mobiles. Wow, that was an awesome ride today. Temps were even bareable until the wind picked up. Too bad that Wayne wasn't able to get out there to meet us, we'll git-r-done the next time.

Posted by: SoCalQuadr

Appreciate the invite, but got some other STUFF to do this weekend!! I'll catch up with you some other time.

Hi Guys. I am looking for people to go riding with. The majority of my friends have dirtbikes. I am looking for some people with quads to ride with too. I am planning a trip Sat Apr 29th to El Mirage if anyone is interested.

I have an '05 Suzuki LT-Z250 and am a novice.

Posted by: atving4fun

Out by Johnson Valley then. Thanks for the info, but I think the other few people that are going want to do El Mirage.

Posted by: atving4fun

Hi bkwyoming, Things are good. How are you? I don't know about Memorial weekend, but I am trying to find more people to ride with. All of my buddies have dirt bikes and am trying to find people with quads to ride with.

Posted by: themartinz

Just curious, is it kid friendly at all at El Mirage?

Posted by: alienjunior

Yes!!! Can't wait for labor day weekend... heading for stoddard wells. Hopefully won't be too hot but a few cold beers will take care of that. By the way, my son has a polaris 50 and never had problems riding it during non red sticker season. In fact, just went out behind SLASH X a few weeks ago and no one out there but us. Awesome when you have the whole desert all to yourself.

Posted by: alienjunior

Hey Happpy. I know how that is with the trash. Went to Dumont this weekend and I rode with a bunch of nutheads throwing trash at camp and out at the dunes. One of them idiots even managed to crash my quad while moving it!!!!! About $800 in damage! Damn full moon.

Posted by: alienjunior

Yeah Happy. Broke rear right fender. Huge crack that's L shaped. Bent two rims and i think damaged front wheel bearing.

Posted by: alienjunior

Hi Everyone, I'm David
I just bought my quad today! and today was my first time riding in one... Right away i started looking for places to ride and stuff and i came accross this thread, and i started reading a lot of the stuff all the way back since february.
Well this weekend we have planned to go riding with my uncle and his cousin and their kids. I'm Not quite sure where we're going but I know we're going somewhere out by victorville... I'm guessing johnson valley from what i've read here on this thread. So i thought i'd write and see if any of u have anything to say... i cant wait i'm excited, it'll be my first real riding experience...
soo.. any suggestions or comments??

Posted by: djdavid2134

hey guys.. well thanx for the warm welcome...
Bad news for me though, i wont be going out this weekend. I have to work... I could go sunday, but everyone's going saturday. Oh Well, looks like i'll have to be a little patient.
By the way, thanx for the advice, but is there any other things i should know about breaking in my machine right? all i know so far is not to go too fast, and let it warm up b4 i ride.
oh and where exaclty can i ride in azusa canyn?? its close to where i live so it would b perfect.
thank you!

david

Posted by: djdavid2134

looking for some trail riding near san diego for thanksgiving, anyone know of good spots close by, dont want to deal with crowds at glamis

Posted by: TheHun

Hey guys,
Are you guys going to Millers Canyon any time soon. My wife let me buy a Polaris 500x2 for my birthday and I would love to try it out. So far I only rode from my house down to the Trestles Staging area near the 15/138. I live in Oak Hills so I could take fire rodes. From the sound of reconrangers posr here and on thumber talk it sounds like there are some pretty nice trails. I'm free any weekend but March 10.
-Attila

Posted by: TheHun

The 17th or 18th, I'm good what day and what time at the trailhead??

Posted by: TheHun

LA90043,
Hit up recon ranger or online...I know for sure the ranger station by silverwood lake is closed most of the time. You might try like Big 5 sporting goods also, on the way up in Rancho Cucamonga there is REI or sports chalet just 1/4 mile off the 15 freeway foothill off ramp.
Recon has posted on the tread "trail riders rollcall" so check there for exact time to meet, hesaid early so maybe 8-9am I havent heard from him to confirm time yet.
Attila,
