Hey turtle, Welcome to NC. I just moved to NC this summer and these are the links I've been using to find places. Also do a google search for SC ATV Parks as those may be close to you also. The second link (Cycle park) is actually a place called Rolling Hills (Reidsville, NC) which is about 2 hours from Charlotte. I'm trying Wolf Island (Reidsville, NC) this weekend for the first time --- $5 ride all day.

Hey Turtle. I finally got to Wolf Island this weekend and rode with guys who drove 1.5 hrs to get there. Quick answer was they said it wasn't worth it to them for the 1.5 hour drive (keep in mind these guys travel to multiple states to ride, so they had a lot to compare to). I'm only 30 minutes, so I thought it had enough to ride for a few hours and not get bored. There are 56 acres consisting on an old motorcross track that hasn't been groomed in many years so there are numerous ruts and EXTREMELY muddy. There are lots of trails both wide and very narrow. I ride a 400 4X4, so the trails got real tight and slow, but a sport quad could probably go faster. There's serious mud all around, but also many trails right next to mud holes to by-pass the mud. We did use 4x4 and winches all day to get each other out, but had a blast. There's a creek to ride through and in, along with some very high hills to climb. It was only $5 per ATV, so you can't beat the price. I'll be checking out Rolling Hills maybe this weekend, which is more for sport quads I believe. If you ever come up this way send me an e-mail and I'll join you for a ride (kaptap123@aol.com).

I can't ride next weekend, but possibly can ride the following Sunday (2 weeks from today) when family leaves. Wolf Island is only 30 minutes from me, so I can always join for a ride. Early in the morning is best because after 1pm the families come out and it gets crowded early. Let me know whenever you got to Wolf Island. I'd be up for going anywhere as the people I usually ride with bought horses and their atvs just sit now. I'd be up for Unwharrie or Brown Mtn. in a few weeks though!

Hooty - I've got family visiting for the next two weekends, but could probably find a couple of hours on Saturday morning to ride at Wolf Island since it's close. It's not Unwharrie, but it's something for a quick fix. Let me know if you're up for that or I can go to Unwharrie or something in a few weeks.

Turtle, I live in Upstate SC and there is a place in Gaffney SC that is very close to Charlotte. I have not been there yet but I hear it is nice with approx 50 miles of trails to ride. I will be checking it out soon. Here is there link and if you ride it before I do let me know what you think.

I am new to Charlotte, NC. 2 weeks to be exact. I am from Las Vegas, NV, and places to ride at aren't hard to find on the west coast. I havent done much venturing out yet, but my wife and I are starting to get the bug to ride. I have gone on the Brushy Mountain, and TNT msp. sites and I think I will go check out TNT this weekend, but I was hoping there might be a place to ride a little closer.

Also, do you have to register a ATV in NC? and what are the DB restrictions on a pipe?

Pleas Help, Thanks...

I ride a '04 YFZ 450 and my wife rides a '06 Raptor 350

Thanks alot! I'll check those out. Let me know how wolf island is, and if its ok for a sport quad.

I went and checked out TNT last weekend, and wasnt impressed. Catered more towards 2 wheels, and only 1 track to ride on that would get boring after about the third time around. The trails were closed due to rain, so one weekend that they are open I will go back and ride them to see how they are even though im not riding a trail-friendly atv.

Thanks, I'll check them out. I still havent been able to ride my quad yet since I've gotten here (other than in my backyard, and on the street 'till the cops showed up and told me not to do it).
When I do go check them out, I'll shoot you a e-mail, and you can show me around...

OK no problem!
I'm a little busy this weekend, which is unusual for me but any other weekend would do just fine. You can also shoot me a e-mail whenever you guys get the bug to ride.

Thanks guys, John...

Hey guys, I saw this thread and just joined this morning. Anyway, I live in Eden, I'm on the VA line about 45 min north of Greensboro. I used to frequent wolf island pretty regularly, but I've kinda gotten bored of it. Too much mud. But I don't know if any of you guys have ridden Uwharrie. That's not too far from Charlotte. Look on a map and it's a little north of Troy on hwy 109 right before you get to Eldorado. It's a pretty good ride area if you don't mind some rocks. Most trails are pretty clear, but you do have a few that are pretty rough. I haven't been yet with my 450, but I did have an old 94 300ex I used to ride there with and I never had any problems. I noticed someone earlier mentioned Brown Mountain also, the terrain there reminded me of Uwharrie a little, just that most of the trails there are one-way only. Hey kaptap, if you ever want to get a group together to go down to Uwharrie, or Brown Mountain, drop me a line. I need to find more people to ride with. I always seem to find the guys around here who want to talk about riding more than they actually want to ride.

Hit up Wolf Island yesterday afternoon......NASTY!!!! Anyway, gonna try and hit Uwharrie next Saturday if I don't have to work if so, it'll be Sunday, but either way, I'll be there next weekend. Anybody else interested?

sounds good guys, I have a friend who just bought a warrior, and he can't stay off it. Anyway, wolf island was really his first ride, I talked to him this afternoon and he said he'd be up for uwharrie next weekend. Kaptap, if you'd be interested on Sat., we could meet you in G-boro somewhere. I like to leave Eden around 8-8:30 so we could meet up around 9:15-30. I usually take 85S to exit 103 in Thomasville. Been down 220 before and it seemed to take longer. Anyway, let me know a good meeting spot anywhere in the area, I worked in G-boro for 8 years, so I'm pretty familiar with the city. Later
