Right around Calimesa there are places you can ride, but not many of them would be "legal". Development has taken most of the areas where I use to ride years ago. But, there is an SVRA (state vehicular recreation area) that is supposed to be going into the area between hwy 79 and Gilman Springs Road, near Beaumont. If that becomes a reality, that will be sweet for us locals!

If you are talking about the general area, there are a huge number of places to ride. Like the high desert (Stoddard Wells, Johnson Valley, Wild Wash, etc.), the low desert (Ocotillo Wells, Glamis, etc.), and lots of great woods riding in the local mountains!

In lots of places the staging areas are good places for beginners to ride around and get in some saddle time, on flat ground. Take a trip to Ocotillo Wells and find a camping spot that's not crowded, and let her ride around camp all day. That's how we started our kids out.
