Hi, I live in Elkton, I'm about to buy a new ATV this weekend not sure if I want a Bomb or Cat? I have some friends that live in Cecil they mostly ride in West Virginia or PA. I'm a newbie atv rider so I would like to start out easy. Anyone please send me an email on where I can ride in Cecil (without getting in trouble) ;-)
Thx,
Posted by: bpipes
Unfortunately, I'm finding out riding in cecil county is illegal in most places. We use the tracks to traverse to different trails in the woods. From what I understand if your respectful and stay off the farmers crops and out of back yards the police won't bother you too much. If your looking for a track check out the local Delaware track off of 13 or Budds creek in lower Maryland. Also, a state park in western Maryland (Green.....something) allows atv riding. I"m probably going to get a membership next spring for tower city, pa and make monthly trips up with my wife. Cecil County has land that could be designated for atv riding maybe if more people buy atv's the local government will designate some areas for us, it would be better for the county and the enviroment as well.
Posted by: bpipes
If Trespassing signs are posted the police can give you a $500.00 fine on the spot! If Trespassing signs are not clearly posted where you are caught riding then the police will probably give you a warning. The thing to do is tread lightly around homes and stay off of the farmers crops.

What's Tower City like? I here it's tough on your atv because so rocky?
Thanks

Buka;
I'm from Cecil County we ride at a place the locals call Tower Hill. However, we just found out that a developer bought the land. A few of us would be interested in checking out where you ride in new freedom. Could you send me an email and discuss?
Posted by: bpipes
Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll take a trip up to Tower City for $35.00 before I purchase a membership.
Posted by: bpipes
I've only been to Tower hill (local name) once, but, I know it's in Northeast and I think Shady Beach Rd. is close so were probably talking about the same place. I remember a shoot range and a small track close to a road. It looks like the track is where some type of water run off was in the past. I like the riding, but, didn't appreciate riding 2 miles on the road to get there.

How long did it take to get to Tower City from Elkton?
thx, bpipes

Megan; I talked to a guy that went to Paragon he was on the trails with a jeep. According to him Paragon has some very difficult trails and you would be better off with your utility quad. Let me know how things go, have a fun & safe trip. bpipes

Megan;
Did you make it to Paragon? If so what's it like?
thx,

Megan;
Sounds like fun, my wife would love to ride with you. We are new to atv riding and looking for a group to ride with. I'll check out the web site.
Posted by: bpipes
Went to Paragon yesterday with some freinds. Not bad, very tactical rocky riding. I'm glad I had my utility quad! Two of the guys with us had their sport quads and could barely walk at the end of the day ;-) However, I was disappointed in the required flags for riding (mine kept falling off) and beginner trails, I didn't see many beginner trails for my wife, although, I know they must exist because children were riding. I'm going to check out the speedballs message board and see where they ride.

Where is the speedball group meeting this Sunday in Frackville? I understand everyone is meeting at 8 a.m. I'm thinking about joining the ride. Although, 8 a.m. is early I would probably need to leave Elkton around 5 a.m.?
Thanks
Posted by: bpipes
Megan;
Not sure if I'll make it this Sunday depends how much work around the house I get done Saturday. Also, a couple of my friends mentioned Tower Hill (Northeast, MD). I may stay local because of time restraints. But, I'm excited about the speedball group I really want to join the club.

We ride at different places; Marley pit, which is off of Marley rd. We park at a friends house and then ride down the rd and jump on the csx train tracks. There are trails off of the tracks that you can ride. One trails leads to Marley rd. another trail will lead you to the quarry on Elk Mills road. I would like to ride up to Frackville Sunday but I can't find anyone to go with me, my wife has another commitment Sunday. I think it's suppose to rain anyway, although, I would ride in light rain. So, still up in the air on Frackville....

Won't be at the Frackville ride this Sunday, very bummed out about not making the trip. I noticed an experience only ride next Sunday. I was talking with my friend we're hoping to ride next Sunday with everyone. What do most ride on experience day? Sport or Utility? If you ride with Jeremiah any evenings this week let me know and I'll meet everyone and ride with you. If not, I'll plan on Frackeville next Sunday Dec. 11th.

Didn't make it to Tower Hill this Sunday, couldn't find any local riders. My schedule is open tomorrow evening, will you be riding someplace tomorrow eve?

I went to Green Ridge once I thought it was a good place for beginners. Take care of your teeth there important :-) My wife has worked at a Dentist for 16 years. I probably won't be able to do any distant rides until after the holidays as well, too much going on for the rest of December at home and work. I did ride Marley Pits/trails last night we didn't start riding until 8 (it was cold and wet)! My buddy rolled his utility quad he was running down the hill and the quad was chasing him. If we squeeze in a Sunday at Tower Hill (Northeast) I'll let you and Megan know. The problem with Tower Hill is finding a place to park but my friends parents have a house about a mile away so we can park in front of their house, I just need to let him aware that other will be joining us.
Posted by: bpipes
Megan;
I've seen two quads roll this week! We went riding again last night in Marley Pits, again, last minute thing. My buddy didn't call until 7:30 we didn't start riding until 8:30. The next time we plan on Tower Hill (Northeast) I'll send you a notice we usually plan a few days in advance for that ride. I got two rides in this week so I'm content for a few days ;-) Me and my buddy are thinking about riding West Virginia next month. Although, I really want to meet with the Frackeville group.

I've only heard good things about hatfied and Mccoys. I'm planning on going in Jan. if my work schedule and weather permits. I'll let everyone know in the forum when If I go. The best place I have been so far is Paragon in Hazelton, PA. I'm looking forward to doing a ride with the Frackville group eventually.

I've been to paragon, it's not bad except for the silly flags you are required to have on your quad. Make sure you have a spare tire or at least a tire repair kit. Paragon is rocky!!
bpipes
Posted by: bpipes
Paragon is crazy rocky! I recommend utility, although, a couple of my friends rode their 450 yfz's. At the end of the day the damage was; two tie rods, two A arms, one chain guard, all destroyed. The utilities were fine but we did ride the more challenging trails.
My next PA ride will be Tower City and with the Frackville group, probably late January or Feb. I'll going to West Virginia in two weeks! I'll try to remember my camera and post some pics.

After my west virginia trips I would like to start riding with the Frackville grp. their rides look like nirvana ;-)

Yes, I know that hole in Marley Pits, when I first went there a buddy was trying to get me to hit all of the mud holes, I knew he was up to something.

Megan;
A few of us went riding last night we talked about going to Marley Pits but instead rode trails next to Elk Mills Quarry and an area next to ATK. It was muddy I decide to ride sport everyone else took their 4x4, however, I only needed winched out once! I didn't get home until 12:30 a.m. we'll have to coordinate and meet you and your husband at Marley Pits then show you some of the trails off of CSX. We haven't been planning well on our rides lately, but, we were talking about Tower Hill and riding at Frackville soon. The guys I ride with are up in the air for this weekend if we go I'll post something the night before we ride.

I went to an Eagles/Miami game on Monday night a few years ago in Miami. The eagle fans took over the stadium, some eagle fans go a bit far they were starting fights with everyone in the section I was sitting. Fortunately a couple of eagle fans traded seats with us, I guess they started to get concerned about our welfare ;-) They started throwing beer at me because I had a Dolphins shirt on. I even got moved in the parking lot twice because eagle fans wouldn't let me park near them. You should go to a Dallas/Eagles game to experience yourself. Myself I'll never go to another Eagle game!
3 days left, West Virginia here I come!

My buddy just bought a brand new KQ, he's taking it to West Virgina with us. From what I here KQ are great, I don't know why I didn't buy one, I guess I just wanted to be different ;-). We won't be doing any local rides until after WV. When we get back if weather permits I"m going to arrange a ride at Tower Hill (NE).

Bingham Mt. in Rainelle, West Virginia.
A lot of the property we rode is owned by Westvaco. Westvaco owns about 1.3 million acres in the United States that they use for their paper mills. We also did a lot of riding on a local farm because of the awesome hills. We did take one 70 mile trip down the meadow river. The riding was awesome like nothing I've done so far! Thursday & Friday were Sunny and Saturday was snow, probably about 8" of powder with 3' drifts in the fields!

Megan;
Sorry, I haven't turned you on to Tower Hill it's just I don't have a good place to park. I park in front of my friends fathers house and ride about 2.5 miles down Old Elk Neck Rd. I was at Tower Hill a couple of weeks ago, actually ran into 660 Yamaha there, and notice a few riders park off of Shady Beach Rd.
On my way out of Tower Hill I passed a farmer on a tractor and a pickup truck, the guy in the pickup looked like he wanted to chase me but new it was useless ;-)

I used to be an avid snowboarder. I went to Tahoe about 5 yrs ago we got 3' of snow in 2 days it was awesome other than the fact most of the resorts were closed. If you haven't already I highly recommend Utah, both Snowbird & Alta. Another smaller & less popular ,but, great mountain is Arapahoe basin in Colorado. I like Colorado a lot of places within close proximity.
ATV in the shop again ;-(

Why did I quit snowboarding? The west & Maine spoiled me ;-) Snowboarding in PA became more of an effort, e.g. crowds, no snow, ice ......so I bought a boat and got into watersking & wake boarding. Slowly watersports turned into a big drunk so I gave the drinking, skiing, snowboarding & friends up. My latest hobby is ATV riding, rode dirt bikes and 3 wheelers for years when I was younger. Probably more info. than anyone in this forum would want ..... On another note; me and a few are planning on riding Tower Hill (shady beach) tomorrow, not sure what time yet, come join the fun!

We had a good ride at Tower Hill today, although, it was cold....about 10 quads, we rode from 10-1. Best of all everyone was able to ride out on their own power. However, we did have two quads roll fortunately bruises were the only outcome. I'll try to give more details the next time we ride just check the forum on a Friday night and I'll post what I know. I noticed they put chains at Shady Beach rd. it's only a matter of time before we lose this place to ride. As I was loading my quad at my friends fathers house I was approached by someone in a pickup, my first thought was "I"m about to be reemed for wheelin down the road and disturbing someone", however that wasn't the case. Some guy had us sign a petition for an atv recreation park in cecil county ;-) The individual has 400 acres he wants to develop into a park for riding but the county is being difficult.
I'm outta here (tired).
bpipes

Don't worry about grammar "mine sucks too". I'm not sure where the 400 acres is that he was speaking of for the
ATV park, some of the other guys were familiar. I'll find out location and post..
We didn't roll on any hills just going too fast and not having the ability to make the corners (nothing serious).

We'll you'll miss your dune riding. There aren't any Dunes to ride in Maryland, DE, or PA that I'm aware of. Most of the riding in this area is trail riding. We have a few good ATV parks in PA and a few good sport tracks in MD. The GNCC is a good example of the type of riding on the east coast. The best thing to do is get hooked up with a group that rides regularly (like the Frackville group). I ride with a dedicated group in Cecil County every other weekend. We ride at a couple areas here in cecil county, which are mostly trails, and take trips to eastern PA along with trips to West Virginia.
Your more than welcome to ride with us anytime.

Unfortunately, I don't know of anyplace next to Marley Pits that you can park. I park at a friends and ride about a mile down the road, jump on the tracks, and ride about 5 miles to reach Marley Pits. If you can get to the csx tracks then I can probably get you to Marley Pits.
-bpipes
Posted by: bpipes
I rode Marley pits and some of the trails close to Marley about 2 weeks ago, it was Muddy! Went to Tower City last weekend and rode for about 6 hrs. it was dusty but still good time. Haven't been to Tower Hill in a few weeks maybe next weekend.
If you ride local, be careful to not ride in the field next to Zietgler (spelling?) rd. which is off of BlueBall, we usually ride Marley Pits and the trails from Marley Pits to Elk Mills Quarry, anyway...the gov. is digging in the field next to Zietgler. A security guard stopped us and told us not to ride in the field because it has live ammunition.
Let me know when you go to Frackville, a group of us want to go, but, just can't make that extra 15 miles from Tower City :-)

Just noticed that someome mentioned about riding in West Virginia. If you guy's do any riding in WV, where might you guy's be riding. I grew up on the eastern shore all my life and then I moved to Frederick Md, in 1997 and recently built a new homw and moved to the outskirts of Harpers Ferry WV. Also if you guy's do any local rides let me know I would love to join, also do not mind to travel. Does not matter whether if you guys are riding Utilities or sport quads, cause I could bring either one. thanx
Also I only live 10 min. from the Md. line

Hi all,
My fiance and I just purchased ATV's. We live in Cecil County as well and are also looking for places nearby to ride. Any suggestions?
Posted by: Megan
Thank You for the info. Do you mean the rail road tracks in North East? I have been on them. The trails I have done so far off of them are fun. We went this evening though and a white truck was on them and he told one of the guys in our group that a cop was sitting up on the tracks a little bit farther waiting to bust people. Now I am scared to ride there. What happens if you get caught?

We are going to go up to Tower City tomorrow. Which is better Tower City or Paragon? Does any one know how to get a trail map of Tower City online. I was hoping to see one before we got up there.
Posted by: Megan
It was AWESOME!!! There are parts that were very rocky and were hard. There were also alot of trails that were not that rocky and alot of neat hills out of coal. Some pretty neat hills to go up and down and some very good riding. They also have a stretch w/ no rocks that is pretty wide and you can race on it. They also have some pretty wicked places for experts that we stayed away from. We rode for 6 1/2 hours and loved every minute of it. I am sooooo sore today. lol. We are definetly going to get a membership in the spring. They will let you ride there once for $35.00 to see if you like it. A membership is $250 single or $300 for a family. The only thing that stinks is they do not pro rate the membership it is from March 31-April 1st. So we have to waite to get our membership. If any one has a membership you can bring guests w/ you and they pay $30 for the day. If anyone out there does have a membership and is going up my fiance and I would love to be your guest for the day!!!! I would like to try Paragon next. Has anyone been to both and can compare?
Posted by: Megan
BPipes,
You should definetly get up to Tower City you will love it! Be prepared to be very dirty when you leave. That coal dust goes everywhere. Unfortunately they do not have bath houses. We did bring a change of clothes but I had to go and wash my hands and face at the nearest fast food restaurant. Next time I will bring plenty of soap and water w/ me for afterwards (wet naps would be nice). I too am wondering where is Tower Hill located?
-Megan

Where is it located?
-Megan
Posted by: Megan
Duh...... I just realized you said Tower City not Tower Hill. Sorry. Yes I think it would have been fun to ride on a damp day as well. That coal dust sucks! Have you been to Paragon? If so how does it compare?
Posted by: Megan
2 1/2 hours. It was not too bad of a ride. I did mapquest and it had us take back roads 896, to 10, to 41, then on 30, to 283, to 72, to 81, to 209 to Tower City. Estimated time on mapquest was 2 hours and 24 minutes and that is about what it took us. Well worth the trip!!!! I wish I would have taken more pics. I had my camera but I was too busy riding to take pictures. I think this Sunday we are going to try Paragon. Mapquest says it is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Elkton as well. I thought it was farther than that. I wish I could talk to someone who has done both and give me a comparison. You can get a trail map for Paragon on the internet so that is good. The only thing that scares me is the fact that they let 4 wheel drive vehicles like Hummers, etc... on the same trails. I do not want to get into an accident period let alone w/ a SUV. I will definetly be getting a membership to Tower City in the spring. I would get one now if they would pro rate it. I need to become friends w/ a member so I can get a day pass w/ them. lol.

I do not have a utility quad. I have a 06 Honda Trx250ex. Jeff my fiance has a06 Kawasaki 650 Brute Force 4x4. One of the other guys going has a Kawasaki 05 360 Prarie 4x4 and the other guy has a Suzuki 400 or 450 sport. I was able to download a trail map off of there web site and I do see that some of the trails are super rocky and quite extreme. According to the trail map most of the trails are green (stock trails) some blue (moderate trails) then a few black (heavily modified trails) and a few red (extremely modified trails w/ a guide only). I plan on sticking to the green and blue trails? They have a forum on the Paragon web site I will get on it and tell them what bike I have and what they think. Thanks for the heads up.
Posted by: Megan
Hey Bpipes,
We did not make it to Paragon because I saw on the Speedballs website that they were having a family ride Sunday. They are an ATV club and most of there rides are for experienced riders only. So I figured we had to take advantage of that. I sure am glad that we did. We liked riding w/ them so much on Sunday we joined the club. They are the nicest most down to earth people. I even had a girl to ride with lol and she was teaching me how to jump hills. We rode around that same Tower City/Paragon area though. We rode for 7 hours and it was soooo much better than Tower City and I loved that. I have pics that I added to my profile. They also have a website http://speedyracer0.tripod.com/id33.html and you can view some of the pics from our ride there too. Speedy is still working on the newsletter but some of the pics are up already. Anyway I will be at every family ride they do!!!! Such a great bunch of people we had 10 riders in all. I even had my first accident. Not sure what happened I was flying along and instead of making the turn I ended up in the trees (luckily they were baby trees) I knocked the wind out of myslef real good but besides a few minor bruises I am fine. Bought a chest protector yesterday and you better believe I will be wearing that baby from now on.
Posted by: Megan
Hey Bpipes,
They ride out of Frackville which is around the Tower City, Paragon area. Some of the stuff we did on my ride out w/ them was a little technical. I think we did a wide array of everything and was very pleased. Check out the pictures and see if you think your wife would be up for it. If so they are doing a family ride this Sunday from 8am-2:30pm out of Frackville. Speedy will gear the trip around the least experienced rider. You can get his email address off of the website. That is how I got in touch w/ him. I was sore after that ride. Wish you had ridden Tower City so we could compare. I still want to try Paragon, but keep getting such mixed reviews on it.
Anyone out there who has been to both please let us know how they compare.

Hi Rodnreel,
Yeah it does suck that I have to drive a little over 2 hrs to ride some where legal. The fiance and I even thought of buying a big piece of land and making an ATV park however the largest parcel in Cecil County so far for sale is 59 acres and they want 1.3 million. Real Estate is insane. I will keep looking though. I'll let ya know when I find it. Have to find something that can not be subdivided that should bring the price down.
Posted by: Megan
You should come on this Sundays ride! It's out of Frackville PA from 8am-2:30pm. You will love it & Speedy too. He is the greatest. As for the ATV park I am in I am a real estate agent. I work for RE/MAX Integrity in North East. I will keep an eye out for land and let you know when I find something of interest. My website is www.meganm.org You can search land listings from there as well just click on search all MD listings. Let me know if you find anything interesting.
Posted by: Megan
Lol. Well atleast we have the realtor and loan officer picked out for our ATV park. That's a start huh? Jeff and I are thinking the same exact thing as far as our primary residence goes we want to build a house w/ some nice land and make our own tracks too. It's just that there is really NO land out there. Not in the area I want to live in anyway. I keep looking though. Oh and homesdatabase is better than realtor.com because it gets updated when Matrix (our system) does realtor.com might take a few days. The link from my website is homesdatabase.
Posted by: Megan
Alright well break that father in law of yours in and the wife too! Maybe you can join us on the next ride 2 weeks from now. During deer hunting season they will be alternating rides on Sundays for the experts on one Sunday and than us not so experts yet the next Sunday. I have owned my ATV for maybe 3 weeks now and I think I am doing pretty decent. Never driven one before now. I did that ride w/ the Speedballs and was able to keep up just fine. Although I also have a jet ski and ski blue and black diamonds so that may have helped some. Have some great bruises on my legs right now from crashing on the speedball trip and just as they were starting to go away I crashed on a black diamond at Wisp to add a few more. Thank god it is not summer right now because every one would think that Jeff is beating me.

Hey Bpipes,
Frackeville is according to mapquest a 2 hr and 20 min drive (something like that) That is how long it took us to get up there. I live in Fair Hill. We will be meeting at the INN-81 the old motel 6 in Frackeville. You could go up the night before and stay the night. That is what we did last time. I am not sure if we are going to do that this time or not. If not we will be leaving at 5 am as well. lol. I hate getting up early. That gives us time for a potty break and time to get the trailer unloaded. The ride starts at 8am so you want to be sitting on it warmed up and ready to roll at that time. It's a long day but it is a blast.

Well we have the Cecil County drag race track and they gave the horse lovers Fair Hill so why not? It would be sweet if they would let us ride ATV's at Fair Hill.
So Bpipes do you think you are going to come this Sunday?
Posted by: Megan
Hi Rodnrell,
I actually had my best year ever this year. I set a goal every year and I am already way over that goal. Basically I could take the rest of the year off but I will not. Learned my lesson by doing that before. Having alot of settlements than taking a few months off then it's like starting from scratch all over again. I am definetly slower now than I was in the Spring, but like you said it's like that every year. I had a settlement yesterday. I have one in December and from hear on out I am trying to push the rest into Jan cuz the tax man is going to love me this year. I have 2 scheduled for Jan so far. I am not going to not work but I am not really out there trying to get new work either. If it comes it comes. I just need a little break after working pretty much 7 days a week for months and months. I do have 6 listings right now. How about you?
Posted by: Megan
Oh and back to the ATV thing. Yeah we need some lobbyists. I mean I know us Realtors have NAR and they have our back and it helps us out alot. I am really surprised someone has not done anything yet?
Posted by: Megan
Ohhh, don't you just want to throw that cell phone onto the ground and smash it into a bunch of pieces sometimes. LOL.
Posted by: Megan
LOL. Well lucky for my honey I am the one on these forums and doing the research on places to ride so since we both like it he will be getting out of the honey do list to go on a ride. Come to think of it if it were not for me we would probably be riding around in our back yard.
Well I am sure there will be many more rides to go on so I'm sure we will catch up in the future. I also would like to try Tower Hill out w/ you sometime Bpipes. Is that usually where you ride?
Happy Birthday Rodnreel
Posted by: Megan
Bpipes,
I have heard of the Marley Pits but have not gotten the chance to get out there yet. We have a friend that lives close to the CSX tracks in North East so I have done abunch of trails off of those tracks and they were fun. Yesterday afternoon/evening Jeff & I meet up w/ a guy from my paatving forum who lives in Oxford and rode w/ him. It was pretty fun and I love trying new terrain. I just posted 2 of the pics I took. His screen name is Jeremiah. Well Jeremiah may come w/ us Sunday too. He has a honey do list too. He has 2 kids and 1 on the way so we will see. I hope to see you up there and if not maybe we can get together another time.
Posted by: Megan
Hey Bpipes,
You missed a GREAT time. THey had snow on the ground up there so it was soooo much fun. Once Speedy updates the website w/ the pics from Sundays ride I will PM you the link. I have not done an experienced only riders yet. They say for the experienced rides they do atleast 100 miles in a day WOT (wide open throttle) They may take a little break every 1 1/2hrs. We did 70 miles this past Sunday and 90 miles the Sunday I did before this last trip. I am soo sore we rode from 8am until around 3:30pm. Along w/ everything else on my body my throttle thumb REALLY hurts. The next family ride is the 17th. If we don't go out to Deep Creek Lake that weekend Jeff & I will be on that ride. Husky100 is on this forum. From reading some of his threads is how I found out about the Speedballs. You may want to send him a PM and see how the experienced ride works. I know they STRESS the word EXPERIENCED RIDE. Most of these guys have benn riding for 15+ years. Oh on Sunday we all had utility vehicles except for one guy. I rode a Kawasaki Prarie 360 that day. I don't think my TRX250EX would not have made alot of those hills in the snow plus we went through alot of BIG puddles. No problems on the Prarie though. I had it in four wheel drive the whole trip.
Did you make it to Tower Hill on Sunday? I am hoping for this snow we are suppose to get. If we get it I will definetly be ridingWhat is your schedule like this afternoon/evening and tomorrow?
Posted by: Megan
Hey Bpipes,
Where is all of this snow we were suppose to getWe were planning on riding in all of this snow that we were suppose to get. If it sticks around then I would like to go riding tomorrow. I would like to go even if it does not stick around. Let me run it by the old man and see what he says. Are you in?
Posted by: Megan
Hey Rodnreel,
Did you make it to Greenridge on Sunday? If so how was it? I have not been yet.
Posted by: Megan
Hi Rodnrell,
Sorry to hear about the root canal. Hopefully you are feeling better? Atleast you probably got some good stuff for the pain. LOL. Where exactyl is Greenridge? For some reason I am thinking it is out in Western Maryland? We have a place out at Deep Creek Lake and alot of the parks out there let you ride w/ the $15 sticker so I am familiar w/ it. They make them snow mobile trails after Dec.10th though so I guess that will have to be the next sport I take up. LOL. We rented them one time in VT and I had a blast.
Sorry to hear you only got to do one loop.
Posted by: Megan
Hey Bpipes,
We went riding yesterday afternoon/evening too. We were in North East though on the trails off of the CSX tracks. My fiance flipped his quad 2 times. Scared me half to death the first time he managed to jump out of the way and the second time he was holding it up w/ his feet. We have a friend that lives in that area so we park at his place and can get on the trails from there. I had a good time but I did get wet/muddy. I dressed accordingly though so I was not cold. I got some good pics of them doing jumps. I will attach them later.
I still want to try the pits but I knew we were going to be riding in the dark and I wanted to stick to terrain I was familiar w/.
Glad you are feeling better Rodnrell.
Posted by: Megan
Yeah definetly let me know next time you go. Jeff and I would love to ride somewhere new. We are going to do Frackeville tomorrow. They just got 4-7" of snow and Speedy said I am ready for a experienced riders only ride nowYeeeeaaaaa! I will let you know how it compares to the family rides. Bet ya I'll be sore come Monday. LOL.
Posted by: Megan
I have done Tower City and had a blast. I have not been to Paragon yet and I too have only heard good things about Hattfield McCoy. I too plan on getting out there this Spring.
Posted by: Megan
Here is a link to Hatfield-McCoy it's located in Southern West Virginia. All of the info you need should be on there site. I can not waite to get out there
Posted by: Megan
Welcome Lil Mikey,
Have you ever been to Tower City? I have not been to Paragon yet and am wondering how they compare? I liked Tower City. I like your sign off. LOL.
Posted by: Megan
I just checked out Speedys website too. We missed this weekends ride and I am jealous. However I did go to Pete's tonight and get me an 05 King Quad in Red so I am psyched. Now I got to update my pics page. LOL. Anyone want to go for a ride let me know because I am dying to break her in.
Posted by: Megan
Welcome jamakn,
Since you have done both T.C and Paragon then you can give a comparison. I have only done T.C. How do they compare?
Posted by: Megan
I live in Fair Hill which is right on the MD, DE, PA border I am about a 2 hr and 20 min ride from T.C. We also have been riding up there lately though. Probably in the same area you are talking about. How fare are you from MD?
Posted by: Megan
Not that I know of. When I rode at T.C they said you had to do whatever your state required. I do think you did have to have liability ins though in case you hit someone but they did not check us to make sure we had it.
Posted by: Megan
Oh... and thanks. So far I am LOVING her!
Posted by: Megan
Hey jamakan,
So far I have done St.Clair, Hazleton, Frackeville, Pottsville so we are most likely riding the same terrain. I started off w/ a Honda TRX250EX and outgrew that plus the shifting got old and when the snow hit well I sure was not gonna get very far on that thing. Then I took over Jeffs Prarie 360 because he got a 650 BF. He loves it. Then I would have the Prarie WOT on straight aways and deceided I wanted something w/ a little more power so I just got myself the KQ. No regrets so far. But the only place I have gotten to ridden her so far is in my yard. LOL. The Prarie was fun though. Another guy on here Skooter 525 has the Prarie and he loves it. He is in my ATV club. He said I should get one but I wanted something w/ IRS so that was out, Plus the EFI is nice too. Not sure if the Prarie 700 has it? I know the 360 does not. Anyway I'm sure the wife would love riding the Prarie. I know I did
Posted by: Megan
Hi Mike,
So how do you liket the Grizz so far? That is one of the quads I was considering as well. Right now Jeff is waiting for a part to come in on his BF so once he gets it back together which hopefully will be REAL soon we will go for a ride. I am dying to get out on her. Thanks for the compliment on the trailer. Why we need a 24ft trailer for 2 quads is beyond me. Must be a guy thing. I like it as well though. Atleast we have room for friends quads if they want to ride w/ us.
Posted by: Megan
Speedy is on this forum now too. His user name is Speedyracer0.
Posted by: Megan
I'll second that.
Posted by: Megan
Hi 660Yamaha,
I just checked out your pics they look good. Let me know the next time you go riding and Jeff & I would love to join you.
Posted by: Megan
Bpipes,
Let me know when you do Frackeville. Jeff and I will try to come along. You will love it. Everyone in the club are good peps. You will also love the trails and riding up there. We will not be able to do the next ride which in New Years weekend but we plan on going up the weekend after that. I can't waite. Did you see that Speedyracer0 is on this forum now. He has a few pics from our recent rides.
Posted by: Megan
I will not be able to make it up until the second weekend in JanI joined the East Coast Speedballs ATV club. The president of the club is on this forum his name is speedyracer0. In his profile he gives the link to our website. On the site you can view pics from past rides. On Saturdays they do a Experienced only ride and on Sundays they do a family ride. On the site you can also find his email address in case you want to get a hold of him and ask him any questions. He is a really great guy as is everyone in the club. Living so close to there you may already have heard of them?
Posted by: Megan
I would definetly like to join you.

At the way you ride I dont think Mikes twin peaks can handle a rear end shot with the KQ like the one you gave him the other week on the prairie (haha) Anyway practice up and join us for an all day adventure in the PA mountains!! Ride Safe Ride hard Just Ride!!!!
Well look who the cat drug in. Lol. How did you hear about that? I am going to give him the money for a new exhaust the next time I see him. Speedy slammed on his brakes making Mike slam on his breaks and because of the snow I could not stop in time. I just barely tapped him. I'm guessing since you will be on the New Years ride that you will not be able to make it the weekend after that? Merry Christmas everyone!
Posted by: Megan
Ouch. That does sound like it hurt. Well we just got back from riding in the rain. LOL. We went to Marley Pits which neither of us had ever been to before. It was a good time. Except in the very beginning Jeff went over this water which appeared to be shallow and I was right behind him I hear crack. The ice broke and I got a little stuck. Jeff had to winch me out. I will post a pic of it on my pics page. That King Quad is great though. Purrs like a kitten and has all the power to take me everywhere I want to go.
Posted by: Megan
Lol. did you see the pics on my pics page? What sucks its that Jeff made it through fine and then here I come and the ice deceides to crack on me. So I got to start of my ride w/ a very wet right foot. We had a good time though.
Posted by: Megan
Went to the pits again today. Did not see a single soul. Had the whole place to ourselves. I would think it would get crowded? Have not ventured down the CSX tracks from there yet. Are there good trails off of them? The last 3 times we went riding we went to the pits and I need some new terrain. LOL. The pits are great though.
Posted by: Megan
Hey 660Yamaha,
After riding today we went to the car wash in North East to wash our quads. When I went to get quarters I saw a flyer for a 2003 Raptor for sale. It looked almost identical to pic #1 on your pics page. Is that your quad?
Posted by: Megan
Hey Bpipes,
I would love that because I looked it up on Satellite imagery and it looks like alot of trail riding to get to the tracks? I can only imagine where we would end up. LOL. This weekend is out for us because we will be away for New Years (We leave Fri and come back Mon.) The following weekend we are going to do a ride up in Frackeville probably that Sunday. Any other time would most likely work for us. We wanted to ride today but w/ all this rain I am hesitant. I know the pits were MUDDY yesterday. I can only imagine how muddy they are today. We will see. I hope evereryone has a great New Years!
Posted by: Megan
Hi all,
I have been in Dallas. Got home LATE last night. We left Friday. Jeff loves the Cowboys so my Christmas present to him was to take him to the game on New Years Day. Unfortunately they lost but we had great seats and a great time overall. I'm back now and ready to rideHope everyone had a great New Years!
Posted by: Megan
I use google earth as well.
Posted by: Megan
That is insane because everyone I know that is a Eagles fan hates the Cowboys and vice versa. I would never go watch a game at Eagles stadium. I am fully aware of the fact that the majority of there fans are a bunch of drunk jerks. I have friends who went to the Eagles V's the Cowboys game in Philly (they are Eagles fans) and they said all the eagles fans were cursing at the Cowboys fans and throwing stuff at them. Neither Jeff or I have a very good temper nor would either of us put up w/ this so in order to stay out of the hospital because we got banked by 100 crazed fans I will be flying to Dallas to see games. Is that pathetic or what? Everyone in Dallas is so nice though. I did not hear one Dallas fan put down someone wearing the opposite teams Jersey. Plus everyone was very friendly and out going.
We did another ride in Frackeville yesterday. We did 100 miles so I finally got a real good decent ride on the KQ. The difference in power is amazing. I am sooo happy w/ my purchase. Their were actually 2 other guys on red KQ's too. LOL. I did get stuck once, but I'm blaming that on the fact that I was riding on my stock tires because Jeff has not put my new ones on yet. Any one going on a local ride anytime soon?
Posted by: Megan
You have a great time in W.V! Take some pics and let us know how the riding is. I want to check out Tower Hill so let me know when you get back.
Posted by: Megan
Well if we ever do make it to an Eagles game I will have to sit in your section. LOL. It is kinda strange though that they are the only stadium I know of in the country that had a jail in the stadium? I have not been to H.M yet, but I would love to go. I wish it was not so far away.
Posted by: Megan
How far are you from Cecil County? My fiance has a skid loader so if you are close enough I'm sure we could work something out like he helps you make some trails and you let us ride w/ you. Eventhough you are an Eagles fan I think we could overlook that. LOL. We would even sign a liability waiver. When do you plan on riding in Western MD again? We will be going to Deep Creek Lake for a ski trip in Feb. It would be fun to have some other people to ride w/ although unfortunately for everyone that is coming on the ski trip w/ us they do not have ATV's We go out to Western Maryland alot though so maybe we could meet up some time? Have you heard of Kitzmier? Not sure if I spelled that right.
Posted by: Megan
Ok you are down alot farther than me. I live where the Cheseapeake Bay starts out at. I have never been to Calvert County but I am sure it is pretty. Anywhere along the bay is pretty for the most part. I would imagine it takes you as long to get out to Western Maryland as it does us looking at the map? If they would put in a freeway right at the PA/MD border it would sure make our trip alot quicker! It must take you a long time to get to the Eagles stadium? I'm surprised you are not a Ravens or Redskins fan? Altough I am also surprised that Jeff is a Cowboys fan. As for the winch I got mine for an extra $69 when I bought my quad so I am not really sure what is the best. You should do a search for winch and I'm sure you will find some discussions on the issue.
Posted by: Megan
420Pimp,
What are the Pine barrens like and how far are they from Cecil County. How many miles of trails are we talking and is it legal? If not is it patroled? Did you get your quad fixed yet?
Posted by: Megan
I am about 40 minutes from Belair. 20 from HavreDeGrace. They are both in Harford County. I like Havre De Grace it's a neat town. Some good restaurants. The Susquehanna river divides Harford Co./ from Cecil Co. I like antiquing too. We mostly go to Pa for that though. Have also done it in VT & NH. Got some cool old wooden skis and snoeshoes for our bar/basement. Though I must say the majority of our stuff we have found on ebay. LOL. We are pretty lucky in the fact that we have the Susquehanna River, the North East River, The Elk River, The Bohemia River, The Sassafras River, the C&D canal, & the Cheseapeake Bay all w/i our county. I'm about 45 min to Philly so I am guessing you must be atleast 2hrs from Philly? We do have beaches but none that I know of allow ATVing. Do they allow it in your county? In the summer we like to get out on our jet skis and most of our friends have boats. Have you ever heard of the flats in North East. Also I guess down your way you must have heard of the Red eye dock? What kind of truck did you get? A 250 super duty Ford?

Welcome ccLX330cc,
There are 2 pitts. The one you are refering to is a superfund site and you want to stay away from that one. The other one as far as I know of is fine. I am not glowing yet.
Posted by: Megan
Welcome to the site Off Road Junkie! I met him on the paatving site and told him about this one since he lives in Cecil County too.You need to post some pics OffRoadJunkie. He has got a sweet toy hauler.
EaglesFan,
Yes Ebay is the GREATEST! It can get quite addicting. LOL.
420Pimp,
That sounds great. Let me know the next time you plan on making a trip up there. Jeff and I would definetly like to join you. It sounds like fun and I love checking out new terrain.
Plus if any of you are just doing a local ride in general we should get together. I got my new tires on the KQ today so I am excited about seeing how they do. We are riding w/ the Speedballs tomorrow so I should get alot of use out of them.
Posted by: Megan
Well I guess we better not let this thread die then. I have not looked that pit up on google yet. I have not been feeling too good. I have been sick since Sat. so I don't feel like doing much but laying on the couch or sleeping which I am going to go do right now. I will look it up though. Also I don't mind riding in the cold. So hopefully I will start feeling better SOON. I hate being sick!
Posted by: Megan
Finally feeling betterThank you. I don't think that the Speedballs are riding this Sunday and I have to work Saturday. Is anyone thinking of doing a local ride in Cecil County on Sunday? I finally have my new tires on the quad and are wanting to try them out.
Posted by: Megan
Bpipes,
Glad to hear you had a good time in W.V. Where are your pics? I was hoping you were gonna post some from the trip on your profile page.
Posted by: Megan
ITP holeshot ATR tires. I have had them for a few weeks now, but the fiance finally got around to putting them on for me. Now I just need him to put my winch on for me. LOL
Posted by: Megan
You can shrink them from Paint. Open paint. Click on file then open, then browse for the pic you want to upload. Once the pic is showing click on the image button and you can reduce the pic from there. Then click on the image button again and click on attributes. Once you have the pic below 750 in both boxes save it and then you can upload it on your profile page.

There are parts of Tower City that are rocky and extreme, but they also have a kids area and alot of trails that were woodsy and not so rocky and alot of fun places to play in the coal dust. My first real ATVing trip was there and I did fine. I think your son will be fine. I got a trail map when I was there I will look around my office and if I can find it I will scan it and email it to you.
Posted by: Megan
Everyone who wants me to email them a Tower City trail map please send me a PM w/ your email address and I will find it and get it to you.
Those of you who ride at the Pitts and know how to get to the tracks from the trails across the street would you please PM me w/ directions? I would like to check that terrain out. Also are there any special trails to take that are better than others that you know of?
420Pimp,
Glad to hear you are feeling better. It seems like everyone is getting sick right now.
Posted by: Megan
If you are looking for a sports quad I would recommend the Honda TRX250EX. The clutch is extremely easy on that one and will help her to learn, plus it will not stall. It also has the 400's plastic. Plus she could always get it piped and jetted if it's not fast enough for her. If you were looking for utility I would recommend the Prarie 360. Plus the Wolverine is kinda a mix between sport & utility. It has a sports look, but also has 4 wheel drive which is really nice to have. Happy hunting
Posted by: Megan
Well good luck! Hopefully she likes it. I will tell you though that I did start out on that bike and I loved it at first but I did outgrow it pretty quick (I even had it piped and jetted)so alot of it is going to depend on how much she rides and how agressive she is.
Posted by: Megan
yeah. It's just a shame that the 400ex does not have the same clutch system as the 250. That would be sweet.
Posted by: Megan
Hey Skooter,
How have you been? Good I hope. As far as I know the Pitts are fine we have been there several times and we always pretty much have the place all to ourselves. I think it is alot of fun. I have a good time riding there. I'm still waiting for some one to take me to Tower Hill w/ them though. LOL.
Posted by: Megan
If you read through this thread you will see it mentioned several times. It is in Cecil County too. It's actually a little closer to you than the Pitts but not much maybe like 5 minutes.
Posted by: Megan
For those of you that wanted me to email you Tower Citys trail map I finally found it so I will email it to you tonight. I have to run now. I still have your email addresses.
Posted by: Megan
I am sooo happy right now and being as it is all men in this thread you all could probably care less. I was down your way today Skooter I had to go to Belcamp and 95 was at a standstill so I got off at the Perryville exit and deceided to take 40. There is a Saks 5th avenue outlet store in Aberdeen! I stopped on my way back and got some UNBELIEVABLE bargains! Anyway I think I found a new favorite store. LOL. They do not sell any ATVIng stuff though
We are getting ready to go on our ski trip but when we get back Jeff and I will take you to the pitts skooter. You will like it!
Posted by: Megan
Maybe someday 660Yamaha or Bpipes will show me around Speaking of which what happened to Bpipes?
Posted by: Megan
Nope. I am getting ready to go on a ski trip and my luck I would wreck and not be able to ski all week which would really suck! Especially since I ruined my old ski jacket Atving so I of course had to go and buy a new one w/ matching jewel blue ski pants/goggles & sunglasses. LOL. No Atving for me until I get back from my ski tripWhen we get back though Sunday is the one day the ole ball and chain and I take off every week so we would most likely be game.
Posted by: Megan
OffroadJunkie,
I finally remembered to tell Roney & Terri I met you. We are leaving for our ski trip but they invited us to there superbowl party today and said you were going as well? I hear it's a good time. It would have been nice to meet you in person too. Unfortunately every year we have planned our ski trip during there party. Tell them and Sherri I said hi

Skooter has been fortunate enough to ride at the #1 place they picked. He even has some pics of it on his pics page. The Speedballs are actually doing a trip there again this year.
Bpipes, We will be in Western Maryland skiing or else I would love to go on next Saturdays ride. Have a good time
Posted by: Megan
I'm back. They actually had some fresh powder out there and I was surprised to see that we did too when we got back. The place is called Wisp it overlooks Deep Creek lake. The skiing is alright. Last year we went to Tahoe so it was a very mini version of Tahoe. LOL. Needless to say the black diamonds were like maybe a blue in Tahoe. I did every trail I think they have 36? They plan on doing alot of expanding in the future though. We had a great time. Good restaurants, good bars, good peps. Just wish I was still there. Hopefully I will get to go ATVing before all of this snow melts. Has anyone been fortunate enought to get out on it yet?
Posted by: Megan
Hey BPipes,
Why did you stop snowboarding? Tahoe is awesome, best place I have skied yet we did 4 different resorts while we were out there. We were suppose to do Colorado this year. I would love to go there. I am hoping we end up going there for our ski trip this year. Tahoe was my first ski trip out West we usually did things out here on the East. Killington, Sunday River, Mont St. Anne, day trips to the Poconos (lol) Once you are out there everthing out here does not quite compare. Watching these Olypics I really would like to go to Torino and do a little skiing out there. There mountains look unrealSpeaking of Olympics and Boarding you must be proud of our girls and boys taking the gold & silver in the half pipethen the gold again last night in snow board crossI have never tried boardin it looks fun and I have friends that do, but I am pretty decent at skiing and spending a day frustrated on the green baby slope does not seem like fun. Maybe one day I will try it out though.
Posted by: Megan
Hey Bpipes,
I just saw your message. You are probably already out riding? I would love to join you. If you are already out let me know the next time you goI hear ya about both the winter and summer sports being a drunk fest. Depending on who you are ATVing w/ that can be a drunkfest as well. I'm assuming your snow and water friends don't ride?
Posted by: Megan
Hey Guys,
I am LOVING this weather! Is anyone riding this weekend? That sucks about the Pitts. They are so close to my house and fun. Who in there right mind would buy a house right next to a super fund site?
Posted by: Megan
Yeah Tower City is fun. Is anyone riding this weekend?
Posted by: Megan
Hi Chris,
Jeff and I did get headsets but we got Chatter Box. He got them at Honda East. Would they work with the Collet? As long as the weather is nice I would like to ride next weekend. I have not been up there in awhile. You? I love riding up there but I hate having to get up that early on my only day off. The only day that Jeff and I take off is Sunday though so I will have to see if he will switch days. It's not a problem for me to switch.
Yamaha660 & Bpipes,
As for this weekend I would like to try out Tower Hill. I think Jeff and I will come. Then I will finally get to meet you 2 in personHow does it compare to the Pitts. Is it kinda big? A varitety of terrain? Are you guys gonna ride sport? What time are you guys thinking of going?
Posted by: Megan
For the Chatter box they show pics of street bikes, snowmobiles, boats, snowboarder, dirt bike, mountain bike, ice climber, and hiker. I guess that is why Jeff got it. He put his on his helmet, but I have not put mine on yet. I guess we will see how durable it is. He accidentaly got me a full face kit instead of an open face kit so I might now be able to use it right away. I do plan on getting a full face helmet soon. Jeff flipped his ATV at the Pitts w/ a open face helmet on and banged his face up pretty good so since then I'm a little timid riding w/ a open face helmet. I do not want to be walking around w/ a black eye and fat lip. I just don't see spending all that money when I have a perfectly good helmet, but safety does come first and most of you know how I like to flip of fly off my quad. LOL.
Coop & Skooter,
I'm assuming this place is on some of the terrain we currently ride on? How do you go about getting a permit? Do you have one Skooter? Plus how have you been? I have not talked to you in awhile. Hopefully good. I bet you are looking forward to KY?
Yamaha,
I'm thinking around 10am-11am for a start time on Sunday? What are you thinking? We can do earlier.
Bpipes,
Frackeville is alot of fun. I think it is better than T.C and not nearly as crowded. You ride forever and never on the same terrain. It is a good mix of terrain and it is rocky in parts. Although TC is pretty rocky too. There's also alot of coal riding in Frackeville There is a place called the AC/DC coal mines that is fun. I have pics on my profile page. The first few times I rode w/ them I rode sport and I was fine. The only time you would not be able to do sport up there would be when it snows alot. Speedy has both a sport and a utility for riding. You definetly have to make it up there soon.
Well we are gonna take advantage of this nice day and go riding now so I'll chat w/ you guys later
Posted by: Megan
Thanks to the weather today and Friday Jeff was not able to work and is going to work tomorrow to make up for it. We will not be able to ride tomorrow either
Posted by: Megan
Skooter,
How was KY? When did you get back?
-Megan
Posted by: Megan
I was at Tower Hill on Sunday. What were you riding? I had fun in the mud too

Hey guys,
I have been away at Deep Creek Lake. Got back last night. They had a GNCC race at Wisp while I was there. It was neat to watch. Lots of hotties. LOL. They let you ride the ski lift up and down and part of the tract was right below the lift on the half pipe. They also served alchohol and you could also bring in your own.
I'm sorry to hear that your trip got cut short Skooter.
Yamaha660,
I just sent you a pm. It basically said that I do not know the GPS cordinates and I agree w/ Skooter. I would ride w/ Speedy. Especially since you have never been up there before. Let me know if you go and how you like it. It is the best riding I have done yet

Hi Guys,
Has anyone been riding lately? I have been out on the jet ski all summer since it's been so warm. I just watched the weather and they are saying it is going to be 82 on Sunday, so I'm thinking of getting on the quad since I have not been on it in months. I just want to make sure it is still safe to ride locally. Has anyone been to Marley Pitts or Tower Hill lately? Hope everyone is doing well
Posted by: Megan
I maybe made it 5 miles down the road until it started POURING rain. Guess you guys did'nt get to go swimming either? Have you been riding lately?
Posted by: Megan
Well if you like you can come w/ us Sunday, but I am warning you that I may suck bad since I have not been on mine in awhile. I want to get on it a little around here and then go up to Frackeville soon.
Posted by: Megan
Both Marley Pitt and Tower Hill have been fine in the past. I am up for either. Both are here in Cecil County.
Posted by: Megan
We should probably do Tower Hill.
Bpipes,
I'll let you know when we go to Frackeville. I would like to go some time in September. It should be cooler by then. I don't want to be riding for 6+ hours with swass (sweaty ass).

Hi Dsxbear,
I have never been to either of the MX tracks so I can't help you out there. You will have to do a ride w/ the speedballs in PA or go to Tower City in Pa. They do have a MX in DE and one in Easton. No sand dunes here. I have a question for you. We are going to Oregon in September. We are flying into PDX then driving to Astoria. From there we are driving down the coast. We are getting an RV so we are spending the first night in Nehalem Bay. The second day we are driving down the coast to the oregon dunes. Spending that night at a RV park in Winchester Bay. While at the dunes I want to rent a atv and try sandboarding. The third day we are driving through the Williamette Valley and hitting a bunch of wineries. That night we have a site at Champoege State Park. The fourth day I want to ski Timberline lodge, since I hear you can ski year round there and hit the Bagsby hot springs. I also want to do the scenic Coulmbia river gorge drive. We may stay a fifth night and if so I would like to explore the city of Portland and come over to Vancouver and check it out. I'm assuming you have most likely been to all of these places since they are so close to you? How are the oregon dunes? Are some parts better then others? What would you say are must do's while we are there? Have you ever been to the basby hot springs? my mom and a friend both say they are a must, but I read that some people have had there windows smashed and there stuff taken. Since we have a rv all of our stuff will be in it. All of the incidents I read about were in 2001-2002. I'm hopeing this is not as much of an issue now? Thanks for any info you can give. I can't waite to get out there.
Posted by: Megan
Guess I should have looked at your bio before I asked if you have ever been to the Oregon dunes? I see you like jet skiing. So do I. The one good thing about living here is that you will have alot of places to do that around here.
Posted by: Megan
Hell yes!!!!! Let me know.
Posted by: Megan
I'll keep my fingers crossed. Are you trying to get this one on ebay too? What kind are you getting?
Posted by: Megan
It sounds like you are talking of 2 different places. Was the white Ford at Tower Hill? That was my understanding from reading the thread. From the description of where you were 420Pimp it sounds like you were at the Pits not Tower Hill? Or am I just confused? Hope everyone had a nice Christmas

hey be kind to us eaglesfans most of what u hear is all hype, i,ve been a season ticket holder for 11 years. and i have always been kind to everyone very rarley have i seen much and when i do see a little something something its blown WAY outta porportion. but yes we have plenty of drunks there and the holding cell and judge are gone now lol.
ANYWAY! im new to the forums and to ATVin. and i wanted to see if anyone here has ridin the hatfeild mccoy trails, im planning a trip there in april.
thanks
Posted by: eaglesfan03
yea us eaglesfans did start the jail box tradition but the radiers and the jets soon followed, which both of them still have there jails. I bought a polaris trail boss for my first ATV and i have alot of acreage on our farm woods mostly and theres no trails i just run over downed trees and run smaller ones over, its great!! but im hoping to be ready by then, i just bought a set of XCTs just to ride H/M trails lol.
nice to meet you peoples and im sure i may be running into you guys due to my buddy always riding in western MD in greenridge or savage river.
Posted by: eaglesfan03
well we live allllllllll the way down in calvert on the cheasapeake. i think when it gets warm, we are gonna grab some chain saws and start cutting crap out of the way lol. i dont know where much is in western MD even thou me and the wifey travel much, last time i went to western MD was when i was in 4-H and we went to some camp called the rocks??? like in 1983 lol!! me and my friend are in our early 30s 3 kids a peice and do civil war reneacting. so now we are trying to fit this in to i will say this i seem to be having more fun buying stuff for my ATV then getting a chance to ride it lol. and to tell the truth, even tho i will sure to get some ribbin for it lol, we are mostly fair weather drivers, if its cold, snowy or rainy, where playing online games lol. anyone using a winch?? any recomendations??
Posted by: eaglesfan03
well all my family is mostly from philly, so its no fun living in redskins and down here, but i still wear my jerseys almost everyday. Ok i went out and bought me a truck today so my ATV is now mobile!! so megan your up at the top of the cheasapeake, near belair ?? i go up that way alot kinda to antique shop in harve da grace. any beaches near you allow ATV riding?? anyone done the majestic trail systems in PA?
Posted by: eaglesfan03
OMG EBAY!!!! is there anything better, we also get alot of our antiques off there lol. our thing is old advertising kitchen tins and railroad lanterns. we go to salam MA every year and do antique shopping there. As for philly takes us 2.45 hours to get there. yea there are great resturants in grace, its so nice there. yes we have alot of beachs, but the only place to ride is on private beaches where the owners ride it to, but its rare. the truck i bought was a Ford 150 XLT EX cab, its a 97 tho, i just wanted a new farm truck and an ATV hauler its so perfect tho, i searched 45 dealers and all over the internet, and coundlt really find anything, so i was going to settle on a dakota 2001, ex cab but not really anything in it, then at 10PM i found a moonlight blue and silver ford they just listed in VA. went next morning and bought it lol. it almost matches my bike, so i had to have it, my buddy just put a killer exhaust on it today
Anyway as for the bike i choose i bought a polaris trailboss 330 2006, im not a track runner, never much interest, i love driving thru trees and running them over exploring woods, its great just getting lost and finding your way out. and anyway the trail boss was the perfect trail begginers bike and it got awsome reviews from pros to novice riders, so i had to have it lol.
Posted by: eaglesfan03
hey megan, or Pimp id definitly would like to catch up with you guys to ride. as soon as it warms up shoot me some Emails and let me know when u guys have anything going on
Posted by: eaglesfan03
yea i will help keep this alive, plus ill be looking for some riding buddies in march or so i heard about that crazy women, but oersonally have not heard it. sorry to hear your sick megan i know how it feels ive been sick for a year almost been a bummer definitly wanna do the tower and such, also catch a convoy with shedmen to H/M trails, thats gonna be great. been getting my ATV ready for that trip since i bought it lol.
Posted by: eaglesfan03
uugghh im having so much trouble finding a whinch mount anyone have the ITP XCT tires ?? i have a set all ready to order thru rocky mountian i think it is. where did u get yours megan. BTW we have a ride going on in southern MD this sunday if anyone local wants to join up, as far as i know its still on
Posted by: eaglesfan03
welcome i am new my self, and new to the ATV sport lol. i dont know many places above southern md lol.
Posted by: eaglesfan03
hey megan can u shoot me a map too? i wamma head up there myself in march maybe
Posted by: eaglesfan03
yea bikes are sooo cheap there, i almost went there for my trail boss, but i talked the polaris dealer here down, to only a 150 dollar differance, so i got it here and saved 8 total hours of driving
Posted by: eaglesfan03
looks like it was fun! looks cold too lol. what trail system was that on? was that h/m trail?
Posted by: eaglesfan03
i think he's talking about romney cycle in romney west virgina, north central WV
Posted by: eaglesfan03
thanks, i love those kinda trails, great pics
Posted by: eaglesfan03
its right down the street i have yet to get there, but everyone tells me the trails are great at the park, its pricey thats why i havent been yet, 50 bucks for a few hours of ridin is alot lol. + it has to be over 50 degrees. but like i say noone i know is disapointed in the trails and tracks. the trails are pretty good for kids too.
Posted by: eaglesfan03
i think the bike i have would be perfect, its a sport utility the trail boss 330, its climbs over and thru anything so far i put in front of it, its got muscle and looks. perfect for begginers.
Yea as for the ATV, its right next to Buds creek, and the prices are right as for what burkie wrote. i belive also you can ride during the week for 30 bucks too, 50 is just on the weekends.
Posted by: eaglesfan03
well you also have to look at your or hers riding style, will she wanna hoop it up on the tracks, or tough it out on the trails for track riding clutch and speed she will love, if shes a trail rider by heart, automatic and power is what will win out there. then theres 4 wheel drives too lol. another thing you can do is to head places like the ATV park in buds creek or easton and rent a variety of ATVs they have there
Posted by: eaglesfan03
ATV park is great from what i hear for kids too, bit pricey but cheaper than a 250 dollar fine 420 I can see the clutch aspect, im just saying I ride where there is no trails mostly, alot of us out there, and all day long all i hear is the word dam and restarting clutch ATVs all day. Im just saying im much happier with my Auto now than a clutch, I feel so much more in control now.
Congratz on your purchases burkie have fun

this is my first post ever and i am feeling like a real minority here, simply because i ride on two wheels instead of four. i live in the north east area and can ride directly to the "tower hill" location from my property without even riding the roads. it is a great piece of property to ride on and no one will really bother you. there are all kinds of terrain... the property was recently purchased by homebuidler d.r. horton, however they are unsure about developing the property. it will probably be several years before anything happens.
i have some questions about the marley pits... i just noticed these trails last week for the first time. i drove down ephrata lane and noticed a guard shack with signs saying basically that the place was a chemical dump. is it a good place to ride? do you glow after riding there? whats the deal? is there anywhere you can park and then go ride? i would also like to check out the trails off of the csx tracks. oh well... i guess thats enough questions for a first post.
Posted by: ccKLX300cc
thanks for the info on the marley pits everyone... any other local spots besides tower hill and the marley pits???
just reading all these posts makes me want to ride, only problem being i am recovering from a broken acl. i had surgery over two months ago, but no riding until spring. what a tease...
Posted by: ccKLX300cc
tower hill... not to be confused with tower city in pa, has two acess points. one is off of old elk neck rd and the other is off of shady beach rd. i always ride on and ride off because i live so close and i have never run into any problems with anyone while riding there. there are a few places you could park and unload i am just not sure if that would become a problem or not... let me know if you want any more information about riding there.
Posted by: ccKLX300cc
tower hill has some pretty unique terrain... and there is lots of it. there are some pretty serious hill climbs and a couple small tracks... one is directly off shady beach rd where the old driving range was. last time i rode i found a really tight single track that was a lot of fun and i still haven't followed it completely yet. it seems like everytime i ride there i find more trails.
i ran into that farmer once too, but that was on the opposite side of the horse farm... more towards wayside drive and old elk neck rd... as long as you stay away from that area, you should be fine. the key is finding a place to park. last summer guys would just pull into the parking lot of the old driving range and unload. on the weekends there would be tons of cars there... i blew my acl though, so i haven't been out riding since this past fall. i should be back on the bike in another month or two.
Posted by: ccKLX300cc
i didn't know they put chains up on the shady beach entrance. that must be new. it the elk neck entrance probably won't get chained off because people use it as an entrance to houses on wayside drive. the land known as 'tower hill' is owned by homebuilder d.r. horton. however, their is some uncertainty about building there and the land might be sold off. if they do build there, it is going to be and old people community and shouldn't be built for several years.... so either way, i think we still have some time to ride there before anything major happens.
where was the 400 acres at that this guy owned?? that would be great if he was willing to let other use or set up a legal place to ride. i'll sign that petition any day.
where did you guys roll your quads???
Posted by: ccKLX300cc
i just read my last post.... wow. i really need to check my grammar before post.
Posted by: ccKLX300cc
Was the trooper at the Shady Beach Road in his uniform or was he off duty? I've never seen an unmarked white truck before. Did he chase you down or did you ride over to him? That really stinks, because I ride there pretty often and have never had a problem. Did you drive and park there or did you ride onto the trails? At least you didn't get a ticket or somethings stupid. Let me know so I don't end up getting arrested.
