Slades is a fun place to ride.

I hope everyone is responsible and rides safe... Slades has been closed a long time and it would be a shame for it to close again.

It is convenient to Richmond/Petersburg too.

I called Slade's Park today: Slade's Park in VA is now open! This is for real....the fee is 15 per bike, open 9-sunset daily. The phone number is 757-357-9269. For those of you who know how much fun Slade's was, this is very good news!

About three hours....Slades has traditionally offered acres of mud, water holes, and hard packed trails.

From Newport News you're only about 30mins, if that. It's in Surry, across the James River Bridge. They do not rent. You pay the entrance fee and that's pretty much it. I called back last night and spoke to one of the owners and they will not be having trucks/jeeps anymore, only ATV/cycles.

I hope so too. I've really missed killing many Saturdays or Sundays riding over there. I really hope they don't close again also.

The cool thing about Slade's is all the mudding you can do. George Washington Nat. Forest is cool for scenic trail rides and if you like rocks. I'm more of a mud riding type and Slade's can't be beat for mudding and it's only 1 hr from me vs. 4 for G Wash Nat. Forest. Having only rode Tasker's Gap and Rocky Run, are there any other park service trails that would cater more to the mudding crowd? If so, please let me know.

how far is this from maryland?

It used to cost 5.00.
15.00 sucks
In my opinion its worth 5.00,the place is alright maybe going once a year.
The trails at george washington/jefferson forest blow slades away.
There is also a cool place at fredrickburg off I95.
