Crab flats is legally open to riding again? Everytime i call they tell me 3n16 and everything west of there is all closed due to the "fire" last year.
Crab Flats and Johnson valley are my two favorite places to ride, i spent 4 days at johnson valley last month and (during the weekdays) we had the whole place to ourselves, i didnt see another soul out there. That place is HUGE! there was everything there California desert turtles walking around, long horn steer too just west of rock camp rd., awsome place. I heard the rangers are enforcing/ cracking down cuz there was some idiots there the week before that got killed trying to jump the RR tracks before the train came by. To bad i'll miss you you again Happy, I got plans on heading up there next fri-sat, o well next time.

Happy-We are doing a ride back in your woods on Saturday morning. Crab Flats staging area out to the Wright mine, with maybe some technical trails thrown in for fun. Like to join us? Why do the long drive out to the HOT desert? Anybody else?

I enjoy doing the rock gardens on the 2X4 Rancher. It's to easy on the 4X4.

With this weather being only in the eighties in the desert, anyone going to head out this weekend? If you have never been, there is a dry lakebed to race on and many rocky hillclimbs. There is also a small amoumt of sand dunes to ride. I will be bringing my son and his buddy (11 yr olds). Enjoy the weather before it gets too hot!

Ridinfolks, Johnson Valley is just east of Lucerne Valley, North of Big Bear Lake. Very easy to find. It should be great weather!
Reconranger, I just went on that ride with Wileycoyote and Customfabandweld yesterday. It was a blast! I went up and over and through every obsticle they did. I was on my V and I had to keep up with their Prairies. They were amazed that I followed them. Fun ride, but I want to take my son and his freind. The desert is a safer place for them, and I want to take advantage of this great weather! Thanx for the invite!

There is a campground at Crab Flats. I have seen motorhomes there. Get a trail map of the area.

Crab flats area is open. But not to Deep creek. We went on a long ride up there. Never saw anyone else during our ride. I will post some new pics today. I just bought a digital camera.

Yesterdays trip was great. Cool in the am with a nice breeze. Not too hot in the pm, either. After lunchtime a small single engine plane landed on the lakebed. Later when he taxied over for takeoff (there was a good headwind). I went over. I was about 150' to his side and he took off. I raced him and had the lead all the way to my top speed. That is when he got airborn. They where all looking at me as they were doing this Never raced a plane before. I guess he never raced an atv, either.

We want to try that place out some time. Awww, too bad we didn't have my stepson this weekend - he loves to have other "buds" to ride with. I'll have to look up exactly where it is again - I forgot.
We're riding with him at Calico Ghost Town over Memorial weekend. Heard it was a good/different place so we thought we'd check it out.
