Well: HERE'S A STORY YOU WILL LOVE please read and enjoy.........

Thursday Morning 2:30 AM approx. I hear a rumbling of an exhaust pipe cruzin thru my neighborhood; several times back & forth on my street........About the 3rd time hearing this, I get up to see whats up......I notice a small P/U truck cruzin my neighborhood and stopping in front of my house.....OK so i watch......then the truck leaves.......I keep watching and here nothing for 5 or so minutes, so back to bed i go........then i hear this rumble again & get up to see this same truck cruz by again only to turn around and come back and stop in front of my house again, now with his lights off........next thing i hear and see, his buddy hook my neighbors boat trailer up to this P/U and HALL ARSS.......So i try to wake my neighbor (with no success).....I call the cops on my cell phone and BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.......i get done with the cops and do my thing and go to work.......I'm cruzin down the street and i see this truck again but with no trailer attached, OK........Nothing said or done till today, I see my neighbor and ask if he knew that his boat trl. was GONE.......DUUUUHHH no way he says!!!!.......So i explain it all to him and what i saw & also thinking i saw that same truck & where.........WELL guess what he has his boat trl. back (a little stripped & AFU) NOW THIS IS THE BEST PART......the punk arss POS theive that stole this trl. is sitting in pierce county jail, Arrested for auto theft ROFLMFAO

WHO SAYS CRIME PAYS!!!!!!

I usually end up going to south jetty in florence 'couse it's the closest to me. I'm probably goin with a few buddies this saturday. The more the the better in my book.

Theres a group of riders that are RIDING/camping at Driftwood 4/28 till 5/2, we are looking at sites 6-21. Come on out an join us......

it opened early this year.....

Posted by: hondablue

jones creek orv area is just outside washougl wa.
it has three short loops that are wide enough for quads. The trails are well maintained.
there is also many miles of forest service roads.More than enough for a day trip....
There is also an area of powerline trails east on hwy 14 we call the area maybe mines...
there is miles and miles of trails from technical rock crawling to haulin you know what...
I ride my trx300fw up there alot....but be careful not to get lost...its happened with me...luckly i had a buddy with me that had a duelsport bike and he rode back the 25 miles on the hwy to get the truck and pick me up...

Posted by: hondablue

try this out ...it has links to all the washington areas including national forest orv trails
trail links click here

Posted by: hondablue

its up salmon falls rd then turn right on mabee mines rd.....its not an offical riding area. But we have ridden there for years and a lot of other people do....they are mostly green dot usfs rds...

In case you are interested, I've started a thread on ATV related legislation in the Washington State Legislature. Several bills have already been introduced. There is a hearing Tuesday, February 18, on HB 1003 to allow ORVs to drive on non-highway public roads. Thus, ATVs could be ridden on DNR and US Forest Service roads connected to the trails. I talked with the sponsor today (Rep. Bill Hinkle) and he is hopeful of its passage. But, he will need support from the grassroots to move the bill.

Here is the thread: Washington ATV Legislation.

I plan to keep posting here during the session, which runs until late April, as things happen on the bills. There are some other bills listed there too that would negatively impact our riding options and rights. Take a look.

REMINDER: HEARING, TUESDAY, JAN 18, 1:30 P.M. STATE CAPITOL IN OLYMPIA.
House Hearing Room D, John L. O'Brien House Building.

This is the hearing on Rep Bill Hinkle's Bill to allow ATV's and ORVs to ride on public roads, such as forest service and DNR roads. We nned a good turnout -- the opponents are expected to turn out in large numbers. For more information:

Listen to today's hearing on HB 1003 to allow ORV use on nonhighway public roadways. You can listen to the hearing from the Windows Media Link. HB 1003 is the first issue and the hearing lasts about 23 minutes. The recording goes longer, but unless you want to learn more about salmon habitat, you can cut it off after 23 minutes. The Recording cuts in and out for the first few minutes when the staff is providing a general overview (the guy was not speaking into his microphone!). Don't worry, stick with it and you'll get the substance. You will have to cut and paste the link, I could not get it work on the forum.

My 2 room mates and I are heading over to Henderson flats in Eastern Oregon Sunday to do some trail riding. tired of the rain and need to do some riding. we will be there with 2 DS650's and a banshee.

Posted by: mkbaja

Henderson Flats is between Madras and Redmond Oregon. Nice little riding area. About 18 miles of trails but miles and miles of forest service roads you can cruise on.

We had a great day but sliced my front tire 2/3 of the way thru the day so I was done riding. Now I have to get new front tires for my DS. Anyone have any reccomendations as to good ront tires for A DS650? And where to get them other than SMI.

Posted by: mkbaja

Any locals havea set of old sand tires they want to get rid of cheap. I have a buddy who just spent every dime he has to by a quad and I want to help him out so he can go ride the dunes with us.

Posted by: mkbaja

We will be at Windy bay next Sunday and Monday. Staying at Discovery point in cabin 3. look for the big DS Baja parked out front

Posted by: mkbaja

If you are going to mcCubbins gulch leave your Quad at Home. Mt Hood rangers have closed it to Quads.

Posted by: mkbaja

How are all the local riders doing???

Just got back from 5 days at Coos bay. God the weather was great. camped at the Hauser KOA. The ride to the dunes sucks but had a great time

Going back Sept 6th thru the 9th. Look for the DS650 riding with a cuple banshees and a z400

Posted by: mkbaja

Just wanted to remind all you Oregon DUne riders that the SOLV Beach Clean up is coming up on Sept 17th. The Sandlakeduners.com club is heading up the clean up at Sandlake and the Sandwizards are heading up one at Winchester Bay. Come on out and help us clean up our riding areas.

Posted by: mkbaja

Well DSXBEAR a bunch of my freinds from Sandlakeduners.com and I are going to be down at Sandlake over the Holiday weekend. i am just going down friday but a lot of them will be around all weekend. Just look for the Blue and orange SLD flags flying. Good bunch of folks to ride with. Afterburner knows some of them.

Posted by: mkbaja

Just a heads up that a bunch of us will be at Honeymans campground for New years. Look out for the Blue and orange SLD stickers flying

Posted by: mkbaja

well if you are going to be living in Bethany which is on the edge of Portland and Beaverton it would take about 90 minutes to get to the closes dune. it is a small place called Sandlake. Here is a link to a page all about it

http://www.duneguide.com/sand_dune_guide_sand_lake.htm

Sandlake is very small with only a couple of big dunes. thefun thing about Sandlake is the treeshots. Treeshots are Small trails leading uphill where you have to navigate around trees and shrubbery. I usually only go to Sandlake for day trips.

Now if you want to go have some serious sand une fun you have about a 3 - 4 hour drive to the oregon Dunes

http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/siuslaw/recreation/ohv/odnra/index.shtml

Here you will find three seperate riding areas. On the north end you have Florence. Great variety of Dunes. Trails open flats and some decent hills.

30 miles south you will find Winchester Bay. Some call it Windy bay and the state calls Umpqua dunes recreartional area. here you will find the tallest and largest hills on the oregon coast. Some say bigger hills than Glamis but small compared to St Anthony's.

Drive 15 miles farther south and you start in on the Coos Bay section of the dunes. These are my personal favorite. you have a wide variety of trails and hills and a great beach run if you want to go down to the beach.

A great site to get involved with is a web based forum called Sandlakeduners.com. Great bunch of people that thier main goal in life is to ride.

Another good websie for riding areas in oregon is http://www.oohva.org/

Look forward to tearing up some dunes with ya

Posted by: mkbaja

well since you ride kawi's and I have no dealings with kawi's I m not sure. I know Action Motorsports which has two dealerships in the Portland area deal with kawi's and I have heard they do good work. Thier is a Kawasaki shop in Hillsboro, which will be about 15 minutes from where you will be living, But I know nothing about them.

Posted by: mkbaja

Anybody gonna be at Windy bay for Easter. We will have a group of about 20. just look for the SLD flags

Posted by: dhigley023

Hope you guys don't mind my jumping into the form here but I'm in the process of moving to Portland. I've been living in Utah for the past 15 years so most of my riding has been in Utah and Idaho. Wondering if you could recommend some good places to ride. I'll be living in NW Portland area, I believe it's called Bethanie, how fare is it to the cost or the closes dunes on the cost?

Thanks Much,

Posted by: dhigley023

Thanks Much! I look forward to the move and the new riding. One more question is there a specific dealer you recommend using in NW Portland area?

Posted by: dhigley023

Hello,
Just moved here from Utah and need to know a good dealership to work with. Didn't know if any of the dealers had a good reputation, I live in NW Portland. Also where's a good place to buy an inclosed trailer?
Any help would be appreciated.

Posted by: dhigley023

Thanks for the all the good input and thanks for the welcome! I'm looking forward to ridding this great area.

Hey Bear I noticed that you enjoy ridding St. Anthony sand dunes, I grew up in Idaho Falls which is about 25 minutes south of the dunes. I rode their all through high school on a 86 quad racer. Great area!

Again thanks much for all the input.

Posted by: dhigley023

Can you tell me what the rules are in OR about age and quad size? I have a son thats 10 is he able to ride a 80cc quad? or will I get fined? I was under the impression that the age requirement was from the manufacture and not the states but I could be wrong. I'm new to OR so any help I would appreciate.

Thanks

Posted by: dhigley023

Any good places to ride close to Portland? I want to take my kids out this Saturday but wasn't sure how the weather would be. Thought I'd stay close to Portland if I could. Any recommendations?

Thanks

Looking to take a trip down to Florence (first time) and wondering if the Honeyman Memorial state park is a good camp group to stay at. Any input would be appreciated.

I'm getting ready to take my first trip to Florence with my family. I was wondering if you could give a little advice about were to go / park. Also are there any specific places at Florence that are better for kids? One last question, any recommendation on hotels?

Any help would really be appreciated.

Hey dsxbear, I know there was some discussion about vehicle searches during dunefest. I spoke w/Mary about this last wednesday, specifically bringing this up, she said "no searches"!

Just thought you might want to pass the word. If you already got this memo, I apologize for the hijhack!

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

Hey guys, I'm new to this thread, and pretty new to this forum. Anyone here from the eugene area? I'm always lookin for new riding partners. I've gotta 400ex with a 440 and some other goodies, and an 05 yfz 450. I ride the coast most of the time, but I'll hit the trails too from time to time. I usually end up going to south jetty in florence 'couse it's the closest to me. I'm probably goin with a few buddies this saturday. The more the the better in my book.

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

What are you doin in LaGrande? I used to live there for a very short time. If you like outdoors, you'll dig it.

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

Thanks for the invite. I feel kinda stupid, bein a local and all, but I actually don't know where driftwood is!!! I've only been riden at south jetty, and when we camp there, we just stay out on the dunes! But I'd difenately like to meet up with you guys. I'm always lookin for some new people to ride with, even if you're are riden a lesser bike than a yamaha! just kidden!

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

cool. Thanks for the directions. I think that I know where it is. You know that parking lot on the south side of south jetty, is it the camp site in there? That's the only one that I can think of down there! Anyway, I'm sure my friends will know where it is!

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

Well, I'm afraid that I don't share you're enthusiasm! That may be because I ride florence like twice a week, but who's counting! That's cool you like it so much though! I guess I'm just bored with it, 'couse I don't think theres anything new for me to find anymore! I need to start branching out I guess!

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

How do spinreal and winchester and horse falls compare to florence? I havn't ridden any of those places yet. There not as close to me as florence. I wanna try something new!

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

Yah, I'm difenately gonna try them. I'm thinking about hitten winchester or coos bay on friday. I might just end up back at florence again though. Either way, it's hard to complain about a good day of riding, even if it is florence!!!

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

For sure, sand is the best! I've just ridden florence to death for a while. I've ridden it about twice a week for the past 3 months. So I wanna start mixen it all up a little. From eugene (where I live) it's an hour to florence, and almost twice that to anywhere else. It difenately is awesome though, and hard to complain about liven so dang close to all this sand!

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

Where are these pictures everybody's talkin about?

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

Awesome stuff! Who's OFC? My hat's off to him! I can jump, but my feet stay planted on my pegs untill I have landed and Im' stopped! That takes some kahuna's thay I am yet to aquire! Anyway, looks like you guys are all a lot of fun! I difenately wanna try and meet up with you next time you all go out! I was there this last weekend, but I took my parents for their first time on a quad, so I didn't wanna make them try and keep up with a more advanced group, if you know what I mean! Anyway, Awesome pics!

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

I'm difenately gonna have to meet up with you all next time! Looks like a lot of fun! Thanks for the invite! Let me know when you're going again and hopefully I'll be able to make it!

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

When is Sand fest? It's in Coos Bay right? I've never been, but I hear that all it is is a bunch of drunk topless chicks and drag racing. Is that really all that goes on there, 'couse that doesn't really sound too awesome to me.

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

Nothin wron with girls, drag racing, or drinking. It's just not what I go to the coast for really. If I'm gonna take my bike to the coast, I'm gonna ride it, and I don't wanna be in the middle of some circuis of people! If that's your cup of tea, than power to ya, it's just not mine. girls, drags, and beer have thier place, their just not in my riding day!

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

Maybe I'll come by this year. I guess I need to at least give it a try if I'm going to make an educated decision of whether to go or not! When is it? Oh, and congrats Bear on comming over to the good side, GO YFZ!!!

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

Anyone goin over to florence this weekend for rhodi fest? I'm gonna try to make it on saturday.

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

This will be my first year going, but my friends have been tellin me about it. It's actually rhodadendrian festival (the flower), but I guess it brings in tons of bikes too. Supposed to be a heck of a time. I guess I'll find out if that's true on saturday! Anyway, it's in florence, and I believe its friday and saturday, though it may be sat. and sunday. Either way, I'm going saturday. let me know if any of you are gonna go, and I'll try and hook up with you.

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

I'm soooo bummed! I was really getting excited about going this year to sand fest, but I'm probably not gonna be able to go! I'm moving in two weeks to washington for school, and I don't think that I'll be able to get back over here for it! I heard that H-Bomb is gonna be there this year too. That'd be pretty cool to see! Anyway, if I don't make it, I hope that you all have tons of good safe fun!

Blessings,
Kody

Hey guys! I'm writing this from Iasi Romania! I havn't posted for a while because for the last six months I've been out of state at a small bible school, and now I'm here in Romania for the last month on a mission trip. I've gotta tell you guys, I've got the itch to ride so bad that it's driving me crazy! I get back on dec. 10, and I'm gonna be headin over to the coast as much as I possibly can! So let me know of any dates you guys are plannin to go ride! I'd love to meet up with you all and have some good old fashioned fun!

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know, I'm selling my quads. I have a 99 Honda 440 with everything but suspension and swingarm, and it comes with a few helmits and riding gear, and an 05 yfz with about 2 grand into it. The yfz has a little over two years of warrenty left on it, but I can drop the warrenty if the buyer doesn't want it, and that lowers the price, I'm selling it for what I owe the bank. We want $11,500 for both ($4500 for the Honda, and $6900 for the yfz.) If you buy both we're gonna throw in our two place trailer also. Shoot me a pm if you're interested. It's really breakin my heart to sell 'em, but I can't afford them with school.

Posted by: yfz450trx400ex

Hey guys, just thought I'd let you all know, Ramsey Wait (Yamaha dealer in Eugene) is hosting a big ride down in Winchester on sunday! Anyone who can make it should show up! Should be a lot of fun!

Hey guys, I have some friends that are comming down from washington to go riding at south jetty wiht me, and they're bringing their moterhome, and I don't know what campground has atv dune access. I'm gonna start doin a little searching, but I thought I'd start here first and get any pieces of wisdom you guys might throw my way! Thanks!

You are going to love that new extended swinger!
Makes a HUGE difference, especially when climbing hills!! BR>Just out of curiosity, what was the total for thswinger including bearing carrier, brake block off, brake caliper mount etc?? Also are you going with chrome?

I'm going with candy blue powder coating I am able to use my stock bearing carrier and brake caliper mountBR>
I have to buy a 13.00 block off plate and a 30.00 braided brake line is all. PM me for the cost of the swinger

Just thought I'd drop in and say hey... another local here.... I've met/talked with a few of you guys over the years... Just bought myself an '06 Raptor 700R, and I've been surfing the forums again to learn about my new toy... I had to create a new user name.... couldn't go by "chad400ex" any more...

I'd like to find maps for the forest roads in SW WA, or hook up with someone (with kids) - to show us the ropes.
Just getting the kids started out in dirt around here and very unfamiliar with available trails/roads.
