Im sorry to say but its you guys and your outrunning jonny law and refusing to regster and acting like you do that make trails close. Its really too bad people have to act like this when riding these trail its to bad im going to lose my right to ride over incompetance. I have to abide by the same laws as you all do and have to pay the same fees as you guys and I do it to support the sport that we all here enjoy. If you really dont want to pay the reg fees in nh then mass is a good place for you. Besides it seems quite clear you have absoutlly no respect for the sport and anyone elses riding areas.

banshee no I dont ride in places that are nat areas that are legal. I dont go where we are not supposed to that is the point that is the kind of things that make people not like atvs that is the point im trying to make good people adulds or kids there are alot of places to ride and have fun running from the epa and riding in non legal places are not thing that show you respect the sport... Im not bashing as im making a point I actually saw this post that was started on another website and alot of people are upset that there are people posting that they dont care if its not legal there are going to ride anyway because it makes peopel not respect atvs and then that means it will never be a legal riding area and getting legal riding areas are closed. Im not trying to be a jerk but use some commen sence and if your going to do ileagle riding dont boast it all over the internet.

I cant make it this weekend.

Had a run in with the EPA this past weekend here. I was with my buddy and we were just whipping around the trails and we came to a turn and ahead we saw them two guys standing next to their quads staring right at us. well we could of been nice and stopped but nope. we just whipped them around and took off. i must of been going a good 45 through the trails. drove right to the trucks loaded up jumped in and took off. im not registered and my buddy isnt either. I know we would of gotten a fine or towed. people said the epa up there are big time ball busters. im done goin there till i register.

well, this wasnt in the place we ride. its across the street. If you go throght the river with the beaver dam. bear right after that river and go the the road. cross the road and on the other side is the merrimac state forest. in there is where we got caught. Before all this happened we were in the main sand pit and we were talking toa couple of people that live right next to one of the gates, who were on their atvs. I asked about the epa and he said they do come in there and bust balls. He said if you are not registered they will give you a fine and might tow it. If you are registered you might get a fine and you might not. The main sand pit is merrimac mass. The only part that is plaistow is the mian gate where we park and about 50 feet into the woods. The guy said that the EPA usually comes down for a weekend. They will pull up in a big huge 4x4 pickup truck with about 6 quads on a trailor. They will unload right in the main sand pit and just ride around bustin balls. Even though its not a legal place to ride being registered will just make it look a little better. Im not gonna go there anymore till im registered. just to be on the safe side. the guy said he got stopped a couple times with his son and got his machine towed. and he lives right there. The local police arent bad, its the state police and the EPA especially.

ya, the guy i was talking to was on a red rancher. his son has an orange ktm dirtbike. I have been goin there for a long time to and have never seen the EPA or anything. But that doesnt mean a thing. It only takes one time that they"ll be there and give you a fine. The guy told me if you arent registered you"ll most likely get towed. And even if you are registered you"ll just get a fine and be told to get out of here.
another reason why they EPA and state police are there is because within the past 2 years they have pulled about 150 burned cars out of there. Anyone remember the little car in the main pit that was all charcoaled? people steal cars, bring them in here and light them on fire. thats one of the main reasons. So because of people being stupid we cant bring our atvs in and have fun.

For one the nh maps will only show state trails. It will not show any that are privately owned. Brandy brow is owned by the junk yard. it was an active sand pit till about 1990. It is not an approved trail by state of nh or mass. dosen't confome to state trail standards so will neverbe listed. as a leagal place. Sanford maine is not listed either but the Game warderdens never bother you as long as you are registered. Registar in nh and will be all set. probolly mass also because you probolly cross in mass in some of the places.
Now merrimac state forest is a no no because they do not allow riding there. I do not belive..
But the best thing to do is stop because it just pisses them off even more if you run .. Yes registastion is expensive. but if the ticet is 100 bucks like it is in maine. well then registation is cheap.
If you want to be able to ride there just registar your bikes and stop for epo's and you will be ok ussally.
Posted by: blakey2002400ex
That pit is privately owned epa has no rite to be there . unless there are asked by land owner to be there.
As far as registation fees . I pay 36 bucks for maine 78 bucks for Nh 40 bucks for mass and mass has no good trails on the eastern side of the state. all my budes pay just the opposite to be able to come to maine.
All that money goes to pay for trail devopoment look at the maine and nh atv sites and you will see that they are going to make some extenive trail systems in maine and nh soon. so every one should registar if you want places to ride.

I have been going every weekend day since i found out about the place and have never had a run in with anyone!!Knock on wood!!ME and a bunch of friends will be going both days this weekend!!If you see the epa and just stop they usually tell ytou to wrap it up for the day and get registered that is the case with all epa in every state.I have been stopped everywhere and the epa has always been nice!!

Derek where did you hear it wasn't legal? People at work call it brucker brow or something and say atvs have been riding there for years.
Mike
Posted by: Hillman
I'm going 4 wheeling with the tacoma club this weekend and bringing my ATV for a buddy to ride. They haven't decided on a day yet though. If we go Sat I'll be in plaistow on Sun. Does anyone know who owns this place, is it the junkyard? I can give them a call and ask if it is legal or not.
Mike
Posted by: Hillman
03sportsman I haven't seen any no trespassing or no motorized vehicle signs. I talked to one of the locals on a rancher and he didn't say anything about trespassing.
I plan on being there Sunday around 11
Mike
Posted by: Hillman
Is anyone planning on going today?
Posted by: Hillman
Cool, I'll be there at 11
Posted by: Hillman
Awesome day for riding, the weather was perfect. Their had to be 30 people there. I got stuck real good, I had my ATV almost standing on end and the bottom half was underwater. Some tool riped the gate off and their was an upside down burnt-out car in the first sandpit. Derek sorry you couldn't make it, hope you son feels better.
Mike

I can do either Sat or Sun I have to work on my truck one day. Where did that kid sink his quad? I sank mine pretty good in the water crossing behind the 2nd sand pit, but mine started right up after we got it out. I got stuck Sat too up in Weare, you can check out pictures at webshots. Maybe its time to invest in a winch?
Mike

Saturday is out. Anniversay... Sunday I'll be there. What time are you going to be there Sunday?
Derek
Posted by: bansheecraze32
Check this out.....Looks like another 4wd day............ I'll bring the Wolverine with the winch
Posted by: bansheecraze32
That Sucks huh. When I raced motocross I broke my mine to and it f---- hurts like hell. He will be out for a while. I was out for the whole season when I broke mine. Tell him to take it easy and I hope he has a speedy recovery.
Posted by: bansheecraze32
Jeff that happened at Plaistow? That is not a legal place to ride. It will not make a differnce if your registered or not. Let me know because that means someone is complaining. They will be there waiting for us.
Posted by: bansheecraze32
Well it's not on the list of legal places to ride in NH. Brandy brow is the name of the place. If it was the EPA and they chased Jeff it's not Legal. My question is this if it was the EPA there is no way they would of got the quads loaded without getting caught unless they had really slow quads Jeff how did you know it was the EPA?
Posted by: bansheecraze32
I'm still going anyway. Mike are you going? I'll be there Sunday early.
Posted by: bansheecraze32
NEVER NEVER call anyone. Why you ask it sets off alarms to them to bust us. There is a legel issue here whoever owns this place is not going to tell it is ok to ride there because if somone got hurt the word LAWSUIT comes into play. Just play DUMB as i am going to do if I get caught. They will just tell you you can not ride here.
Posted by: bansheecraze32
03Sportsman,
Are you going? I usually ride with mike, Eric & his friends and family it is a blast. Head up Sunday. I going for sure
Posted by: bansheecraze32
I've got all my machines registered in NH so I guess that will help. It's expensive to register them now because you guys live in Mass. I think they hit you for an extra 10.00 per quad. I pretty sure you will pay 70.00 dollers out of state. Call Hudson Cycle Center to find out. I would wait till July 1st to register also as ALL renewals are then. That is a long time to park the Quad Jeff let me know if you go anywhere differnt..
Derek
Posted by: bansheecraze32
You MASS guys I would not spend the money to register. It is a waste of money in my mind. I did it only because I ride some Trails in NH that you have to have a sticker. I'm sure we will all be fine. Just respect the Neighbors around there and we will be fine..... Again if you get stopped play dumb....
Posted by: bansheecraze32
Eric if you decide to register wait till July 1st. If you register in june it will expire june31st. See ya Sunday.
Derek
Posted by: bansheecraze32
Well it just says do not block the Gate...... Eric your scaring all the new guys . Pat honestly you will be fine. Just ride with all of us. we have a blast. You will put that 03 Sportsman to the test.
Derek

Mike I'l be there around 10 or so....
Derek
Posted by: bansheecraze32
I'm registered and I live in NH... z838mx do you ever ride in Plaistow? My feelings are this if it is a legal trail then register for sure, But Plaistow is not Legal well at least that what that NH map says. The Mass guys I ride with all RESPECT the sport and the trails so please don't come on this tread and bash them as we are all adults. If is was a LEGAL place to ride they all would register.
Posted by: bansheecraze32
Dumbazz, It's up to you... I can tell you from past experience I have never seen and Fish & Game or Police up there. Jiffy had a run in with the EPA, But if you read the tread it was not where we ride. Bring the 450R up here to Plaistow it is a nice place for it. We all ride together at times so we all could show you around. The more people the better
Posted by: bansheecraze32
Let ride... Can you say 70's ... I may bring the Shee
Posted by: bansheecraze32
It looks like sunday.. Me & my wifes anniversay is Saturday so I don't want to piss her off I thought you were going Sunday? Let me know....
Derek

Posted by: bansheecraze32
I won't be there... My son is still sick... Next week for sure guys. See you then
Posted by: bansheecraze32
Hope you all have some good riding... Dam I was gonna take the shee to
Posted by: bansheecraze32
Thanks Mike.... Are you going next weekend? I know it's early but just curious..
Derek
Posted by: bansheecraze32
Cool.. I took my rice rocket today to work make up for yesterday. Dam I forgot how fast it is. Looked down at the speedometer going down 3 and I was going 110 .... This is the first time I've had it out this year. Hope for a nice summer.... See ya all next weekend. Glad you all had fun.
Posted by: 03Sportsman
That Stinks!!! I didn't get to go up there yet and don't think I am going to now... What do you think the EPA will do if someone got caught ???
Posted by: 03Sportsman
Good point!!
Posted by: 03Sportsman
I don't know I probably will but I got one ticket this year already and don't want a 2 one... If I do go I will bring 1 or 2 more people...
Pat

First off I am register in MASS and NH...
You are probably making a good point maybe people should start e-mail each other rather then posting it on the internet????

Hi were in Dracut do you ride??
Did you ever ride in north reading I was talking to a guy there once that says he lived in Lowell I was just wondering if it was you??

I'll be there sunday with a good crew. Who's in????
Posted by: Quadder79
I'm shooting for 11 but will know later on in the week.
Posted by: Quadder79
Watch it be 70 and sunny all week......
As long as it's not pouring, I'll be there. There was till a ton of water Sunday when my cousin went. (he busted his collar bone off a jump....moment of silence for a fallen rider please)
Posted by: Quadder79
Well that certainly blows!! I've been there twice and have talked to a few people locally and they have all said it's OK to ride there. I'm gonna continue going there and am not gonna bother getting registered till June. It sounds like they're mostly busting the people in the other pits. I'll play dumb....hehe
Posted by: Quadder79
I wasn't gonna register anyways. I'm good at playing dumb..."What No Trespassing sign?" hehe. I don't understand why the state can't have registrations similar to car inspections... It's just another way to rip off the riders. I have to pay $75 per quad just for one state. Now if I want to ride in Maine, I have to register there too. It sucks!!
Soon enough, there will be no places to ride locally. That's why I like to repect the neighbors and not blast up and down the street.
Posted by: Quadder79
Well, I'll be there regardless. It looks like it gonna be great weather this weekend. I put on my skid plate last sunday so rocks won't be an issue anymore. All I have to do is give them both fresh oil and I'll be good to go!! Got my new stainless steel oil filter to try out.
Posted by: Quadder79
Alright, I guess some people think that we're a bunch of yahooos who never register and like to piss people off. Well if you met us and rode with us, you'd think different. First of all, I ALWAYS REGISTER my ATV's. I don't even complain about paying $150/yr for them both. I don't see the point in paying $75 for two months though being I just bought the ATV . The only reason I ride there is because I hear that no one bothers you there. We do try to stay off the road and go right to the pit. I've also heard that the area is both in MA and NH...I don't know if this is true but I'm sure not registering in MA and NH. Now I'm only speaking for myself, but I only have good things to say about the people I've met there.
Oh yeah, the skid plate....I want to personally thank Bombardier for making it a mess. There are 8 bolts that hold the stock plate on. 4 of which are nicely behind the disc and sprocket. Buy the proarmor and it should bolt right under the stock one. I chose to cut most of the stock one off since it was mangled. I kept it on the sides to keep the bolt spacing the same. Make sure you allocate 2hrs to put it on. I'll show you next time you're there.
I may be there on Saturday now instead. I'm having scheduling conflicts but I'll let you all know.
Posted by: Quadder79
I can't wait to go...
Derek, what day are you going??
Posted by: Quadder79
Yeah, there are a bunch of trails and a 2 pits. You don't even have to cross any roads to get to them either. You can see the off shoot for these trails. They all lead to the back of developments so I try not to aggravate the houses.
Where do you ride in Dracut? I'm always down for some different territory. Do you get hassled alot?
Posted by: Quadder79
Derek, I'll be there today at 12...sorry for the switching. There is a possibility that I may go for a couple hours tommorow morning but we'll see.
Posted by: Quadder79
Saturday was awesome!!! I had minor malfunctions on the trail...the air intake from the engine disconnected from the carb. We fixed it in about 10 minutes and was back riding in no time. We saw a group who SANK a Polaris 400 2X4. The kid was up to his shoulders in water. We tipped the quad up just to drain the airbox which was full of water. Needless to say, his riding was done, I towed him back to his UHAUL with the 4X4.
I have plans next Saturday but want to ride Sunday. (I can't believe I'm already thinking about it......)
Posted by: Quadder79
Mike, yeah he got stuck in back of the 2nd sand pit where you cross the stream. The kid decided to go through the deep spot, he didn't know jack about riding or his machine so it was funny. His buddy on a 160 was trying to tow him (250lbs) and a Scrambler. Needless to say I gave em a lift with my old man's King Quad. They were funny to watch...they rented a UHAUL to bring 4 quads to the pits!! haha.

Can anyone go to this Plaistow location? I have a brand new 450R and haven't even ridden it yet. Should I register or not?
