There are some quads on the farm so I'll do a little riding and maybe chase a cow or two.

While chasing those cows don't repeat that little stunt you pulled last time. The cow might really score next time.
hr>

Really don't expect anything like that now, everything is out on open pasture and plenty of room to maneuver. Besides, they been trying to get me for years and they never got in any licks that really counted. Well, I'll take that back, one time a stag bull got in a pretty good shot. But I had his tongue for supper. hr>

But you are getting older now and slowing down. I would really hate to lose a good riding partner and then have to break in a new one. Oh yeah isn't "stag bull" redundant?

Older, no doubt, but slower! Not a chance. That incident was on horseback and a quad has longer legs than a horse.

"Stag bull" was a term used to identify a long yearling bull that had not come in from the mountain pasture the year before. They usually had a bad attitude and had little or no fear of men and deserved to be treated with caution. Since the changes in BLM and others in the way pasture is leased these critters are seldom encountered. They did make mighty good beef as they would be grass fat and had very good flavor. They would also never had a brand on them or be hanging with any herd.

its everything julie's scrambler should have been,,,and twice the price

maybe i'll wait a few years and they will have something that makes the renegade look like a scrammy

after all that seat time on the rancher,,,you surely deserve a renegade

Yeah, i guess i'd give a rancher rider cuts

Moses or Beverly is preferred for me... they don't check noise levels there and I can run without quiet cores. I only mentioned Beverly for next Sunday because I would have the bike in a rigid mode so I can pracitce with the wheelie bar. I'll take my shocks with me to Moses.

I'm looking to buy a compressor, any suggestions on good ones and ones to stay away from? It's for home use, doesn't need to be gas, vertical is fine also, would like to keep it below 5 bones, how 'bout it?

Depends a lot on what you want to do with it. Like Rod said Rand and Rollair are good brands but you also need to decide how many CFM at what pressure you need. Open drive, long life and quiet operation, or oilless, last quicker and louder. 120 or 240 volt. If you need high pressure your better off with a head unloader. Self draining tank is a real good idea in this humid area. If you are going to use a lot of air then an air cooler is in order. The list goes on. If you have access to a W W Grainger catalog they have a good section on compressor selection. Good read last time I looked thru it.

The shop at the farm has a open wheel compressor run by two 2HP 240 volt motors. The tank is also fed by a little 1/2 HP open wheel that kicks on 10 PSI above the big compressor. This keeps the big unit from cycling when only a small amount of air is being used. Cost effective and easy to set up.

You have been busy haven't you? Had fun camping and riding at SL. Picked up trash Saturday..........found lots of stuff, including a bug shield, and part of the underside of a truck, pieces of tire, plus bottles, cans, plastic. Considering the weather there was a pretty good turnout. Michael won the poker run with 4 queens. Took the little ones down the one way - Josh out front, then 3 lt80s (took a friend's kid riding too since we don't have enough kids or anything ) and the 90, then me. The kids did great. Nicole needs to learn how to downshift the 90, but overall, they rode well.

A cupla folks mentioned Thanksgiving at the dunes. We are booked at Horsfall. Anyone else going?

Take care, and goodnight everyone.

Well, I want to keep it fairly simple, hoping to pick one up locally in a store. Use would be for impact tools, nail guns, grinder, normal garage and home use. Harbor Freight has a nice Campbell Hausfeld, 26 gallon, 10.2 CFM, 135 PSI, belt drive, oil fed, 240 volt for $430.00. That brand had some nice reviews, do ya'll know anything about Campbell Hausfeld?

Seems like a read something about CH being built by Champion. If this is true then they should be fine in the open wheel line. I have a little CH 110 oilless that seems to be ok. Use it for staple and brad guns when I'm making cabinets or putting up trim. Don't use it that much but good so far but very loud.

Grinders use a lot of air, you may have to rest a bit once in a while for the compressor to build pressure. Depends on how big the grinder is and how hard your working it. All in all I would think 10 CFM at anything over 120 would be way plenty for a home shop. I would suggest you invest in an air line filter and oil/water separator to protect the tools.

Good morning PSAR

The "first thing in the morning" departure for the farm is taking it's normal track. The girls are fussing around packing and repacking, fixing hair, makeup, repacking, should we eat at home or on the road, repacking, what's the weather going to be like over there, repacking. Good Grief!

No problem, used to it. After all, today is SWMBO and my 44th wedding anniversary. Heading for forever.

Thanks, tne, Linda and I are really happy.

About the tires, don't know how strict they are on telling about sales and such but MB had a problem with posting. If your brother's employer does have a sale you should check with Bing or HappaRap prior to posting it. Glad you got a deal on tires! Having the inside track helps.

Hey All!
I know of someone who may be ready to get rid of a VERY quick Banshee and also a couple of LT500R's with many extras parts.
I also know of someone who has a friend who may be getting rid of a 250R, actually a 330R , I believe.

Hey Bear/Tencubed, i got a Marlin model 39 I'm trying to determine the value of, any ideas? I've seen them go for 1500 for a basket case and i've seen pristine ones go for 7500. the one i have is pretty much mint, the only thing is, i was told the receiver was originally case hardened and mine appears to have been blued. Its a very nice job but from what i've been told it's not the orginal finish. Any thoughts? Oh yeah it has a 4 digit serial # which leads me to believe its a first year, and has a weaver scope.

I would have to run down my gun show partner and see what the book says. Marlin is still producing the39A and they aren't drawing any special pricing, but a 4 digit serial number??????? I e-mailed the flake cop and will see what the book says. I also contacted a Marlin collector I know and will see what he says.

The term is "Permanent" Weekend Warrior. See what happens when you make a statement like "I will never be anything but a Weekend Warrior."

I've read the oilless direct drive units are louder and life expectancy is not as long as the oil fed, but, not sure if there's any hard facts backing that theory up. Thanks for all the information, you've been very helpful.

I see MB's light is on... but is anybody home???

Posted by: 2mnyToyz

Just took the Tajmahauler back up to the dealer to have them do some pick-ups. Should have it back in a week.

I'm surprised Mrs. Toyz said yes to taking it to Moses for the weekend on the 29th... Just have to go south next Friday to pick up some stuff and I'll be ready to try 'er again.

BigD - You gonna take your drag quad over to Moses?

Its a very nice job but from what i've been told it's not the orginal finish. Any thoughts? Oh yeah it has a 4 digit serial # which leads me to believe its a first year, and has a weaver scope.

I would have to run down my gun show partner and see what the book says. Marlin is still producing the39A and they aren't drawing any special pricing, but a 4 digit serial number??????? I e-mailed the flake cop and will see what the book says. I also contacted a Marlin collector I know and will see what he says.

TReX400,

My Marlin expert says;

"Hey Bear you are correct about case hardened vs. blue, however you need to see if it could have been a third model 1st variation 39A as they came out just after the war 1946-50 and it could have had a left over 39 barrel added when they were ramping up going from war years to civilian production. If you can get him to post it on Marlincollectors.com (they allow guest posting) and give the serial no with ** as the last two numbers he may find he has a 39A. He should give them the details. Once he knows if it is original or not I can give him an aprox. balue.
Randy"

No, Ldyjay is not Mb's wife. I can't remember Mb's wife's (brenda) log in name. Then his son is minimadman that is also a member on this site. I'm not sure if they banned the whole family either, but it does sound like they did.

I'm a follower. Trail bossing isn't my bag. I'm not familiar with enough of the trails to be doing that.
I'll agree with you that the dust can be a drag, but hitting a puddle every now and then is a good thing. It's a NW thing.

Think I bored everyone here quite enough with my posts the other day. Haven't had much else to post and been busy cutting firewood before the rain sets in permanently

I am having a problem with the browser I use on my laptop not signing into my account. I sign in, it says successful, but comes up blank. Like a bad version of Groundhog's day. What's the definition of insanity? Anyway, it waz coincidental to my outburst about MB and family so until I isolated it to the Firefox browser on my laptop, I figured it was related. That was my misconception.

bbbtats, aka taternuts, is MB's wife. Weeman and Minimadman are his kidlings.

Not a 39A, it's a 39 made between 1922 and 1938. Posted a couple of pics on my page.

Yes, I am full time this year. Last year I just did about 7 or 8 games, but this year it is all 20. 18 weeks of travel (we have 2 Seattle games this year). I will be back at the airport on Saturday morning, off to New Orleans for the reopening of the Dome since Katrina.

Evening PSAR!

tnemaloney............I'm still here but just busy w/ work & home lately!! Plus haven't had much to say I guess!

BUT I DO NOW OFC that is CRAZY you posted that poll about your 1st car crash.........................................

Well Wunderboy crashed his truck last night img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> he put her on her lid!!!!!!!!!! img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> HE IS A LUCKY YOUNG MAN someone up there is looking out for him once again!!!
He was coming home from work going North on sunnyside when he SAYS he hit some gravel & countersteered/oversteered & BAM it flipped right on it's top & slid for about 25' he came out of it w/ NO injuries, Thank God, but the truck is toasty pushed the roof down & busted the windshield out along w/ some nice road rash down to the sheet metal on the hood, fenders, door ect. Cop said "Mam your son was not doing the speed limit" well NO CHIT DICK TRACY does ANYONE do the limit on our road...........................NO but NO he should NOT HAVE speeding, his bad THANK GOD there was no one coming in the South bound direction or he would of been a sorry young man!! A couple people stopped & let them borrow thier phone to call us, that was a LOVELY phone call let me tell ya!! Ron went up there to check it out, cops weren't even there yet. As I was talking to him they drove by the house so I went up there. DJ was a little shaken but that's about it!! He's REAL bummed his truck is toast & he WON'T be driving for awhile, he didn't get cited there, but they said they would measure the skid marks imbedded in the concrete & see if they are going to cite him???? Kinda wierd, I hope he doesn't loose his licens but if he does he does I guess!! It will suck for us havning to drive him to work but THAT'S LIFE!!

Then I FINALLY get to bed @ 1:30 & get to work @ 9:30 to find out our 2nd manager won't be coming in,I will have the floor all to myself(for the 1st time since my promotion), oh boy, can I stay till 4 which ended up being 5:40 ahhhhh & worked w/ some WORTHLESS MF'ERS but I made it thru the day I am now POOPED!!!

I'll post a couple of dark pics maybe tomarrow of the "Rootbeer Float" on her lid if I get a chance!!

Posted by: OneFlyCowboy

WOW thats crazy.. Im glad wonderboy is OK.,. Its a lil scary the first time you roll a car or truck But man are the memories cool when you don't get seriously hurt. Slooooow Motion...

Posted by: Bing

im glad wonderboy is OK too

Posted by: RealtorRider

Glad to hear he's OK!

How many lives does he have left now?????

Posted by: nwcutie

Glad to hear DJ is ok. I dread Blunderboy driving.

Brian,

I bought every car I've ever owned with my own money and wrecked the first 3.

Took 5 months and a day to total the first one. Ran into a dang billboard and the headlights were facing each other (it was a corvair.)

Took another year and a half of riding a moped and saving my pennies to buy car no. 2. That one, I fell asleep and went off an embankment between Parker and 29 Palms. Followed the trail of car parts back to the road. (there's more, but I won't tell it here ) The tires held air even though the rims were a kind of oval shape!

Third one, I sorta knocked over a gas pump, but it wasn't too serious.....I got away BR>
Then I realized that my guardian angel might fly the coop so I got more careful. The old burb hit a cupla pot holes, but other than that, no accidents for about 18 years or so

Posted by: RealtorRider

for nwcutie a pothole = any small car in her blindspot

and.....blunderboy turned 15 yesterday......364 days and counting

Dang it! I missed out on "International Talk Like a Pirate Day"

(from another site...)

Most days are like all of the others,
Go to work, come back home, watch TV,
But, brother, if I had me druthers,
I'd chuck it and head out to sea,

For I dream of the skull and the crossbones,
I dream of the great day to come,
When I dump the mundane for the Old Spanish Main
And trade my computer for rum! ARRR!

T' me,
Yo, Ho, Yo, Ho,
It's "Talk Like A Pirate" Day!
When laptops are benches God gave us for wenches,
And a sail ain't a low price to pay!
When timbers are shivered and lillies are livered
And every last buckle is swashed,
We'll abandon our cars for a shipfull of ARRRs
And pound back the grog till we're sloshed. Yo ho ....

- Anyone see my keys?
- Just off the coast o' Florida, matey! ARRR!

Don't pick up yer phone and say "Hello,
Your ten-o-clock meeting's delayed",
Ye scrunch up yer face and ye bellow,
"AVAST! Ye've been bleedin' BELAYED!"

Ye can't keep this fun to yourself, I bet,
So sing "Aye", "ARRR", and "Ayy", every man!
We ain't got much grasp of the alphabet,
But a Daymn good retirement plan! (raucous laughter)

T' me,
Yo, Ho, Yo, Ho,
It's "Talk Like A Pirate" Day!
Whatever's in fashion is in for a thrashin'
And bein' polite is passe!
When it's ev'ry man's duty to grab his proud beauty
And let out a hearty YO HO!
And if this offends you, hold your breath as we sends
you
Ta Davy Jones' Locker ya go!

- Where IS Davy Jones' Locker, anyway?
- Right near Monkee Island! Arr, aye, arr....

We'll tell every banker "Heave to and weigh anchor!"
Buy latte with pieces of eight
We'll fight to be chosen as cap'n or bosun
The loser, o' course, is worst mate!

When we hoist Jolly Roger the landlubbers dodge 'er,
We fill 'em with loathing and fear,
We'll plunder and pillage each city and village,
Or at least clean out Wal-Mart of beer!

- Ahoy, mateys! And Welcome ta "Iron Chef Pirate!"
Let's see the secret ingredient!
<GONNNG It's Barnacles!
- Oh ho! There'll be some cutting-edge cuisine!

- "AWK! AWK!" <bzzzzzz
- Hold still, Polly! I need this for me salad!
- Avast there, me bucko! Ye need CARROT shavings! CARROT!
- But Captain, I be on Atkins!
- Moron...

- And you! WHAT are ye doin' with that salmon?
- I'm grillin' it on a hunk o' cedar, what d'y'think?
- Ye CAN'T do that in a JAPANESE STIR-FRY, ye bilge rat!
- Oh HO! Ye never heard o' "wokkin' the plank"?

There ain't no computin' or morning commutin',
No "Parking Lot Full" signs for me,
No lawns ta be mowin' or bills to be owin',
I'm knowin' the pull of the sea.

The fresh salty brace of the wind on my face
Through hurricane, sunshine or squalls,
I'm keepin' my eyes on the distant horizon,
Verizon can hold all my calls!

To wear a red coat full o' buckles,
To earn a few duelling scars,
Well, at least we can get a few chuckles
By filling the office with ARRRs!

And maybe we'll never get closer,
Than watchin' 'em on the big screen,
So here's to old Errol and Depp as Jack Sparrow,
And every Daymn one in between!

T' me,
Yo, Ho, Yo, Ho,
It's "Talk Like A Pirate" Day!
That time in September when sea dogs remember
That grown-ups still know how ta play!
When wenches are curvy and dogs are all scurvy
And a soft-wear patch covers your eye,
Ta hell with our jobs, for one day we're all swabs
And buccaneers all till we die!

So hoist up the mainsails and shut down your brain cells,
They only would get in the way,
Avast there, me hearty, we're havin' a party,
It's "Talk Like A Pirate" Day!

Yo Ho!

Not a 39A, it's a 39 made between 1922 and 1938. Posted a couple of pics on my page.

TReX400, I forwarded the pics to Randy and here's his response.

"Fred since it has been blued I believe it would be treated as a 39a for value. It looks in good condition so $300-500 depending on the buyer. Be advised if he were to have it professionally restored, re-case colored $$$ an original 39 goes from $1300 for 60% and $3000 at 95%. Not many in great shape due to the fact these rifles were shooters. (My prices come from 27th Edition of Blue Book of Gun Values)hope this of some help.

YES.......I know this portion of road VERY well..........The VERY first fatality accident I unfortunately had to witness (1 of a long line of many).....

I'm heading for Lake Havasu, A guy (I'm guessing, cause their wasn't much left of him) past me doing about 100/120 mph in a camaro (right off interstate 10 on hwy 177 towards Parker) about 15 miles (of my travel time) I see a flash in the distance (it's 1:00am in the morning) and i see what looks like a fire as i get closer, this (accident scene) car was almost burned out. BUT I could tell it was an auto accident (skid marks and debre) I walk out about 200 or so feet into the desert and this camaro was TOAST. The body had been ejected and was MANGLED (I didn't look real hard cause it wasn't moving AT ALL) I had to drive into Earp and call the CHP and report the accident, then return to the scene so the cops had an idea of where this wreck was.
Long story short IF any of the teenagers (or adults) that drive (or are gonna start driving) want a good reason to slow down and pay attention when driving, WELL You know what I'm gonna say.........

Sorry for the story BUT it's true and real and most of all; IT WORKED FOR ME.........

Thanks for the well wishes for DJ I can't believe the kid isn't even one bit sore ahhh to be 16 again haha

Rod it was the brown truck Ron said now we may just put the brown motor in the "your" truck, & cut the bed off of brownie & make a trailer out of it, that way DJ will have 1/2 of his favorite truck anyway LOL he/we can use it to haul, a small trailer like that would be nice, but we will have to see!!

Bing yes my nerves were NOT in good shape yesterday but I"m feeling much better today!!

OFC I TOTALLY agree on the kids havning nice cars haha see we don't even have to turn this into insurance since the truck isn't worth fixing I think I jacked the deductible up to $1000 anyway, he still have his Buick but once again that's just a 1984 & ain't nothin special about it IF/WHEN he drives again, now I"m pretty nervous

me im a stop kinda person it may not be my kid but it is someones kid.. we tried to stop a kid last summer but didnt get to his car in time...it could have ended desastruse but luckily it didnt. the teen boy was fallen down drunk 2 teen girls not drunk needed a ride home...asked drunk boy to give them a ride....we were pulling into the lake parking lot and and watching the kids pile into the car....my hubbie ran to try to catch the car but no luck.....5 miles down the road the car didnt make the corner and had flipped over and off the cliff it went...all the kids were alright.. some of you may know the road (alder cut off) but it is a very windy road with cliffs on the other side alot like mountain highway as you go to paridise its a scarry road.

Yes, Alida's first accident was her hitting a parked car. My first accident was hitting a cindar block wall when I was 16.

Thats like me.. I hit a tree sliding off a gravel road
then i hit another tree and so on I have never crashed (this means incapacitated a vehicle beyond drivability at highway speeds) But i sure have thrashed the hell outta them

Posted by: wingdude

Iwas driving my brothers Pinto when I hit the wall. All I did was mess up the front drivers fender. I put the car back and never told anyone. My brother thought that he hit the wall when he came home buzzed the night before. I never got caught.

Posted by: OneFlyCowboy

thats good stuff. I guess the first thrash i had was i was 14 and stole my brothers subaru GL and was flyin thru the neighborhood thinkin i was gonna do some ebrake slides on the ice like i did when i took the rabbit. well I didnt know subaru's had 4wheel ebrakes yanked that thing and went straight thru the mailboxs and dam near into someones living room Drove back to the house on a flat tire and parked it.. lukily it looked like somone had slashed the tire so i got away with that. the car wasn't liscensed and i had just gotten it running for my brother. it was all good but dam kids. this chit they pull Its scary out on the roads.. I started joyriding at 12 when my mom was in hawaii and i wanted to pick up some chicks that lived a couple miles away and have em come over.. So i drove over and picked em up. Then went and got my buddy.. I got busted cuz his mom seen me pickin him up

Thats pretty much the word i got off the marlin bulletin board you posted earlier. They also said it didn't come with holes for a scope so it was drilled and tapped. I will probably keep it as is cuz my wife would go ape scat if i throw money at another gun.
