In most cases, you lose gas mileage when going to a cold air, more power, less mpg.
next step is street racing Kymmy..... have you been watching PINKS for your launch practice? img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
Talking about PINKS....Did you guys know that they are coming to Pacific Raceways to film two shows? I think it would be kinda fun to watch a filming in person.

Haha YEP sure have if I loose a little mileage it's not a big deal, it gets 25mpg right now so a couple won't hurt too bad & I've heard the opposite??? Oh well it's what I want to do too my little car so I will do it as long as it doesn't void the warranty, the CA intake will be paired w/ some exhaust modification also!! Only from the cat back though for the next 9 yrs LOL

It was either i take Broadway or go up to Mill Creek then get on 405. Yep i was one of them sitting in the back up PAST the soccer fields, actually when i came to a stop i was right at the soccer fields. It took me 45 mins from soccer fields to 522. That's like what a 2 minute drive with no traffic???

Yet another reason to go to Oregon to camp. At least they invest the money into improving the camping areas and keeping them clean and nice. When Washington implemented that $5 parking fee for all parks they saw such a drop in people using the parks they actually had to repeal it. Let's make camping unaffordable too. Hard enough to afford the fuel to go anywhere then make campsites so expensive it breaks the budget. Makes perfect sense to me.

Not true. My 1969 428CJ would get 10mpg with the ram air system closed. With it open, full time the mileage was 11.5mpg. Never could really tell the difference in power, except with timing equipment at the race track.
that's what I've heard also we will see what it does to my car!!

That's cool. Whatca want for the stocker? Should probably get an aftermarket anyway. Aftermarkets are only ranging 60-100+ and I will inevitably be transporting it standing up in the future. Since I know the stocker will fail, I should try for something better. The stupid LED light is what's killing me. Bugger.

Wingy, has Jenna recovered from the Dunes trip? She said she was coming down with a cold. Hopefully it didn't set in too bad.
And how's her ankle? She wasn't limping around on the way home, but I suppose that doesn't mean anything.
Still haven't located her helmet or chest protector. So sorry about that.
You guys really should try to make the April trip to Florence. You would all love it down there. Make the reservations now, it's getting full fast.

If you was tricky you would cut the pig tail off teh stock like and build a bracket to mount some LED truck stop lamps on the back

I am tricky, but I am trying to avoid the redneck quad repair on the brand new quad, even if I have trashed on the plastics. But thanks for the suggestion.

It is a whole lot faster than Broadway though Maltby. No stop sign and then a stop light. New over pass at Fales too!
I go that way from Snohomish when I'm working south of the county line.

Not true. My 1969 428CJ would get 10mpg with the ram air system closed. With it open, full time the mileage was 11.5mpg. Never could really tell the difference in power, except with timing equipment at the race track.
You are not apples to apples. Carb vs FI ? 1969 vs 2005.... not even same ballgame
Colder air=denser air. EFI will sense that, add extra fuel for extra power at any given RPM which means you can back off on the throttle slightly at cruise, which will mean less air flow which will mean less fuel and better economy. Gee, I spent the last 10 years I was working going to EFI schools on both 2 and 4 strokes. I'm well aware of the differences. But some things are basic physics and don't really change, even with EFI.

I know, I have 6 to do at a time. At least I only do 4 and then 2, so it is not that bad. In total, I have 12 vehicles(6 ORV & 6 HWY) that I have to register, should be 13 but I share plates on my 2 flat bed trailers. They love me at DOL, give them lots of money.

Still haven't located her helmet or chest protector. So sorry about that.
You guys really should try to make the April trip to Florence. You would all love it down there. Make the reservations now, it's getting full fast.
I was thinkin bout it, but from what everyone is sayin (sounding),the last of the spots are gone. Oh well.
Jenna seems fine. I only saw her for about 5 minutes yesterday when they dropped my truck off and then for about 5 minutes this morning. Man, I work way too much.
I figure it will cost me another $300 to $400 for her riding trip to OR(replacing her NEW helmet and NEW chest protector, yes, I just bought them both in in the last 6 months). Damn, that girl cost me alot of $$$$ for her to ride, between fixing her bike(s) and buying her riding gear. She is more expensive than a wife.

I think there's 373 in the H loop still available. Clicky here to do a search for Honeyman in Oregon. Electrical hookup and free showers at that park. Some sites are full hookups, but I think those are all gone. Trust me, you guys would really enjoy the area. img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

The Value of a Drink
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink
I feel shame Then I look into the glass and think
about the workers in the vineyards and all of their hopes
and dreams .. If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out
of work and their dreams would be shattered.
Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this wine and let their
dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."
~ Jack Handy

And saving the best for last, as explained by Cliff Clavin, of Cheers
One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory to his buddy Norm.
Here's how it went:
"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

I will fill the tire up if it keeps leaking. If a little is good, alot has to be great. There is some pink colored stuff, commerecially sold in 5 gallon bucks. Spill some on the ground and it looks like paper mache, the next day. I don't remember what it is called, but real good stuff. I used to get it from the "true wheel" guy.

Good Morning PSAR. What are the dates for this trip in April?
X-Mas Party, Do we want to have it at my place again?? If we do, it would need to be on a Friday Night or during the week. Every one chime in and if it sounds good, I will create a list at the MSN site.
I am good with any riding get togethers after X-Mas, maybe a Moses trip with a little snow

Yea it's mostly the guys that don't like riding in the rain. It don't matter to me, i have rode in sun shine, rain, snow, hail, downpours. I just think if these guys would invest in some good riding gear, they wouldn't be so scared.

Exactly. It sucks to ride when you can't hang on to the handlebars and push the throttle But spetember rains are all right. its just the 34° and rain tthat sucks.. long as its over 50° its not to bad

you can mention used stuff all day as long as you dont dedicate a thread to it (other than the garage sale section)
maggiesboy is banned for posting links to Cycle Barn
Couple of questions on this. First, is a ban like this a permanent thing or just a "go sit in the corner for awhile" type of thing. Second, I have been in the habit of posting when I see something on craigslist that folks here may be interested in. Is that a bad thing to do? Seems a little on the an*l side to me.

It is the fact that MB is posting about a NON-PAYING advertisement. If the said place paid for an ad on this forum, there would not be a problem. You talk all you want about Jet Moto or Raceway ATV's because they are a sponser for this place.
I do not think that Craigs List is a problem, but I could be wrong. I have posted many things here about CL and no one has ever said not to.

Our Daughter-in-law is visiting from Mazatlan in Mexico. Poor kid is absolutely freezing to death in this frigid low 70's climate. We were watching the news and they were showing snow on Mt Hood. She about went into a panic, we're all going to freeze to death. Can't wait for some snow in the area, she has never seen/been in it. Running around wearing sweaters, big wooly socks and warm boots.

Carmen is a great cook, tamales to die for. Made in a manner I had never seen before. What kind of salsa do you like? She makes everything from hot enough to boil the water out of a toilet the next day to sweet and mild. I spent some time with the kids last winter helping them remodel a building they bought and became addicted to stuff in a tortilla. Salsa is really best when it is nice and fresh. Cactus salsa made from leaves just picked off the plant is amazing. If you buy the leaves in the store it's just not the same. Let me know what you prefer and I'll see if she can give you quantities of what to mix and how. Most of the time she just puts in "some of this and that".

Didn't apply. Knees are too bad for me to pass pole climbing certification class during fall/winter. I am going to shoot for next spring/summer to see if I can pass. I took the week long course about 4 years ago, but didn't pass because I hadn't sufficiently built my arm strength. To certify, you must be able to free climb the pole to 22' with, belt in, walk around the pole, unbelt, then climb down. I was able to climb and do everything else, just not past 14' without the safety belt. I didn't realize that before the class and had only concentrated on building my leg strength.
Kind of a bugger because there are a bunch of fiber tech jobs coming up, but have to have that cert first.

Gaffs. For telephone poles, they are 2" steel spikes on your heels rather than tree climber's spikes that are longer(I think) and on the ball of your foot.
Watched a show on logger competition while I was in pole climbing. Those guys pretty much ran up a 50' tree then dropped to the ground from the top and mabye touched the tree 2 or 3 times. Dang impressive. Wish I could tree climb, too. I got some trees that need falling and don't want to drop them whole.

Dang impressive. Wish I could tree climb, too. I got some trees that need falling and don't want to drop them whole.
you wont catch my commin down the tree like that.. how the hell do they not break their knees commin down?
no kidding,,,,thats looks painful
i would rip something for sure BR>

Umm.. you get spikes too right?

Riggers I knew that rigged up spar trees years ago had spikes about 4 or 5 inches long. Had to be able to get thru the bark and into wood. Those people were crazy.
When I was in Mexico I got to watch some fellows changing out insulators in town. Cement poles, wood rots in just a few years in that climate, they were using two ropes each formed into a circle and then tied in the center to form two loops. They would throw this around the pole and lace it back thru itself and use the lower loop to step in. Reach up and put the second rope around the pole. Then it was just push the loops up the pole one at a time and walk up. One guy would loosen both loops around the pole and sort of slide his way down very fast. If they wanted to work on a transformer or otherwise spend some time on top of the pole they would make kind of a bosun chair out of one rope and just sit hanging from the crossarm.

Maybe in the hi-tech areas but where we were doing the remodel the guys building the walls just dumped the cement and sand on the ground and started mixing in water till the proper consistency was achieved. A brick wall 8' high and 35' long with footing and cap cost about $300.00 US
I took an electric cement mixer down with me, the crew wouldn't use it.

The way those guys worked I think they were faster than the mixer Bing. One old dude that stood all of 5'5" and had to be in his 60's was the "dump truck". He had a square 5 gallon can with the top cut out and a piece of inch square wood screwed on the inside of one side for a handle. This guy would fill that can with gravel, sand or mortar, hoist it
