My brother and I are going to check out Capitol State Forest tomorrow...anyone have recommendations on where to enter the park? We rode Evans Creek today and it was okay...some of the trails were a little advanced for me and it was super rocky...Is Capitol similar?

Thanks!

Capitol is not even close to Evans. The trails are well cared for and the gravel roads are legal to ride on. Rock Candy, off of Hwy 8, not 12. There is access to logging roads, powerlines and the North Rim trails. If you go to Waddell Creek there are trailheads for the Middle Waddell Loop, Mt Molly and Porter Creek trails. You can access roads from any of these. Fairly good signage at the trail juntions too. All the trails will tie together somewhere along the line and there are maps available on line. I prefer the ones you can order because the scale is better and they are in color.

http://www.dnr.wa.gov/dataandmaps/maps/trail_maps.htm

The maps I picked up at the distribution center are in color, maybe they have changed since Bear ("The Coyote") got his.

Maybe I was unclear. The maps you can access online and download and print are in black and white. The maps you can order online and have mailed to you are the same as tencubed got at the distribution center (which is where I get mine too).

thats what I hate about the stick and ball sports. If a couple of people mess up, the whole team suffers. Then the penalties.... "he held me"....WTF? is this Brokeback Sports?

Even a dull (both not sharp and not shiny) knife collection is better than " we will tank it somewhere along the line " Seahawk football.

Time to go empty crap out of the garage.
The garage sale pile will be growing.
Maybe next spring we'll have a moving sale!

GOOD Morning PSAR img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

Well what a GREAT night of racing last night @ Skagit!!! LOTS of riders!! BIG mains for example 18 in the Amatuer Quad class!!!
Well Wunderboy did AWESOME he had his Pro Debut & ran FRIGGIN FAST & HARD!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't expect much but by God that boy was right up front w/ 2 of the fastest guys around img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> DJ got great launches off the start he placed 2nd in his heat for the main there were 9 riders, DJ made the front row 4th spot over great place to start we think, he nailed the start on the main & didn't let up once, he finished in 3rd img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> he was right behind Josh & Jeramiah, in fact thier Dad & them came over & talked to DJ & told him he was doing great!! They rememeber the ol' blaster days anyway he was pumped up & of course so was I!!!!!!! He eneded bringing home $100 for his 1st Pro race not too shabby for a punk kid img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> Of course Josh, Jeramiah, & another guy were telling him it was Hooker $$ I said the hell it is it's Momma's beer $$ naw J/k it will go back into the race acct. so he can race again!!
So it was a good night for him img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> Ol' Eleanore ran GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Heck she wasn't too far behind some $10-$20K quads & the rest of the pack was at least 5 quad lengths behind 1,2,3 then there's always the one guy thinkin' he's gonna be competitive on a 400ex, well I think he got lapped like 3 times just by the top 3 I think I would of pulled off the track BR>My nephew done good too for just starting back up after knee surgery Also Earl done good too on the ol' R he got from MB he actually beat Justin's img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0"> Of course there were some that weren't happy about that!!

Anywayyyyyy the bikes put on a good show too, I do believe only one rider down hard but other than that it was clean racing, guess there was 1 fight in the pits hahaha Mr. Beech not sure what that was all about as we were waiting for the awards not paying attention!!

Well now it's time to unload & get the clay off of the stuff oh boy fun haha OK RR whats the secret "clay cleaner" img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> j/k he was up front so there isn't that much!!
Well good Sunday to ya

I acctually took two over to Andy's house. The garage looks more gooder now. Except for the 300ex ripped to pieces, heading back to trail bike.

I tried many options, before heading to the store. The starbucks is so good, I thought about heading to the store with those beans and asking the clerk if I could borrow.

We have a dedicated coffee cabinet, complete with nasty chit and a bag o beans, the Folgers should have been up there.

In my trip to the store, I picked up a fresh tail lamp bulb for the "zip splat". A sno-Co law dawg reminded me last night the T/L was out. Such a nice young man too

NAPA used to carry just the wire pigtails to fit a number of different styles of lamp holders, you might give them a call.

Racergirl told me that wire got cut. She has a cover over her tail light. It went crazy during one of here woolies and it cut the wire. Sweet, I didn't ruin something. She did.

Don't worry about that too much, heck there were times the boss would see me late in the day and say "Oh!, you are here" and just keep on walking. Sort of bothered me till after I retired and they kept calling asking how to make stuff work. Last time they did that I sent them a bill for "consultant fee". Put an end to those phone calls.

Well it was a good camp / ride at Evans this weekend. There was a Jeep convention going on up there but we didn't see any more traffic on the trail than usual. We got rained on Friday night and it didn't stop until about 1000 but we got a few good rides in and had a good time. I can't wait until we get some more rain and the fire ban is over camping is just not the same without a fire.

Morning PSAR!

Well i was in so much pain this weekend that i ended up at the Walk-in clinic yesterday. The doctor i was in told me to take the brace i had on and put my sling back on. Sooooo I'm back in a sling and feel much better. My muscles were so tight! I was having sharp pains going up the right side of my neck because of them. The doc gave me some muscle relaxers too. Work should be fun with a sling on.

Congrats to DJ on doing a good job!

The dune pictures look great. Looks like you guys had a blast. But Jayna didn't keep the rubber side down...... What's the story Jayna?? I hope nobody got hurt either.

Yes, Florence , Oregon. Central Oregon coast.
It may be a ways off, but you need to reserve a spot now if you want to go, otherwise there will be nothing left.

is there a web site to check it out?

I go to www.reserveamerica.com, then do a search for oregon for the dates (because after 5 years, I still can't remember the exact name of the campground lol

Thanks!

If you go to the Rocky Candy staging area, you have logging roads and power line trails - good stuff if you are a novice or like to go fast. You take I-5 south, to 101 N, go toward the ocean (hwy 12?), exit off the left when you see the sign for Rock Candy Mountain (I alway sing the song from O Brother Where Art Thou at this point....) Its close to the Summit Lake sign.

If you like more trails and technical stuff - slow and in a few places you kinda pucker up if you are are on a sporty or have little tykes (or both if you are like me), go to Middle Waddell. Take I-5 south to exit 95, head west and follow signs (past the something or other mounds.) It has a nice free DNR campground too past the staging area. Rock Candy is day use only.

Have fun!!!!!

Thanks for the info! We ended up checking out the Rock Candy entrance...it was definitely alot more open than Evan's Creek. We had a great time for about 45 minutes...right up until I decided to climb a large, steep hill in my 2wd sport quad and flipped. BR>

If you want to take it over to the farm you can use the hydraulic post driver that mounts on the blade of a D-6. We get filming rights.

Lots of places in the spring of the year the ground is too wet to get around well with a wheel tractor. The 6 will usually just push a wood post into the ground but in rocky areas the thumper comes into play. In the fall thumper gets used a lot. With steel post your less likely to bend them in dry or rocky ground if you bump them down.

I don't think i have ever driven a steel T post into the ground up where we are without it getting all bent up until we built the predriver.. Take the big ho and shove a stick of Drill steel with the bit still on it into the ground. generally that will shove anything outta the way thats gonna give you grief and then you just take a hand pounder a tap tap.. Post is set Wood posts, Logs, RR ties all go in good with the same technique.. Its pretty kewl to see the ground mooving when you shove it thru a riprap road base But how else you get get a T post in the shoulder of the road

that sucks azz! We have only transported Wild's quad upright a few times but his snapped off trying to yank it out of the mud. I don't think the new grab bar cost him to much and the after market one he got is alot stronger than his stock bar that snaped on us.

Ah, life's lessons...

Umm.. Your not supposed to flip themwhat trail was you on when you took the tumble? what was the general local to the staging area?

Not sure exactly what trail it was...I don't have a map with numbers or trail names. I'd say it was almost due east of the staging area, maybe slightly southeast, about 1/2 a mile. It was a decent sized hill, pretty wide...atleast 30 ft. wide.

That'd be a sweet deal if you happen to be by there. I do need to square up on the deal, but I can take care of that. Let me know if you think you're going down there and I'll give him a call to see if that'll work for him.

Thanks for the offer!

Wednesday is a no for me. I have to trek over to the VA Hospital at American Lake again. Thursday is iffy as I have to work on the truck (cause I don't think I will finish tomorrow as family from 1 PM on) so we can go on vacation and friday is a no (family one last time). I really want to go for a ride before I leave for China Hat next week, as I got my 400 back from the doctor's shop today, but I don't see much hope at this point.

Well, guess the Turtle Patrol is down for a couple of weeks. We'll have to plan something when you get back from China Hat. I may be at the farm part of that week but that is kind of up in the air at this point. How is the 400 behaving? Shifting OK now? Didn't know your truck was acting up.

The clutch was out of adjustment. But not the primary clutch adjustment but the secondary one. Shifts like it did when it was just broke in now, Smooooooth!

We will return from Oregon the 28th or 29th after riding China Hat/East Fort Rock, Edison Butte, Green Mountain and maybe Henderson Flats on the way home.

The truck has needed a distributor recurve since I got it and I have the kit now, I also have a massaged (by me) Holley carb to go on it. Both to increase the gas milage, 7.5 mpg sucks with today's gas prices. Shooting for a 2 digit number for the mileage.

Know what you mean about the pickups, our camper pickup has an after market ignition system and a Holly that has been tweeked. Brought the milage up to 9.5 with the camper on and pulling the boat. About a 1.5 MPG gain over the stock stuff. At todays prices it was worth the cost. One of the better things I added was the dash mounted timing adjustment system. You can change the timing by 12 degrees and elect to use all or part of the range as retard, advance or both. As elevations change it is a very handy option.

With today's gas prices I'm concidering the Gear Venders overdrive to defeat my 4:10 rear gears.

The one way thing.. With experience takes less than an hour Get a good puller load it up to 50 - 75 lbs and heat the flywheel hub with a torch. pop goes the weasel.. take a 5.5 mm allen i think and undeo the bolts on the oneway (get a new flywheel cuz its bitchin) and install the new oneway bearing on it and slide the new gear on the shaft and torque her back down.. (recomend an impact to remove the bolt from the shaft)

Posted by: tencubed

Good morning PSAR Feeling more like fall every day. Love it love it love it.

I'm going to put some slime in the 360's tires. Bottle says 8 Oz per tire. Is this overkill or the right thing to do? Anyone have any experience with Slime or other brands they would recommend? Last trip out I picked up a thorn in one tire. Nuff of that BS.

No personal experience with sealants but I read on one of the forums that Slime can be washed off with water. Very messy to dismount the tire however. Second hand info.
