The engine is being taken to JS Racing on Saturday.
Is Happa still going to Coos next week?

I bought a set of 22' 8 paddle Haulers for my 700R just before Dunefest wow, what a difference they make!
Haven't seen hide nor hair of Happa on here all week, don't know if he's making the Coos trip on the 7th thru 11th or not. I don't see his name on the list anymore.
Happa and Val can't make the trip this time. They do have one extra site still available I think. unless they gave it up already.
WHAT!? They canceled a trip to the dunes? Shocking!

Hey gang, Val here. Happa is still alive and kicking but he has been inundated with projects here at the old homestead img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0">, that's why he hasn't been on-line much this week. Also he has been running like Forest Gump almost daily too so that has taken up any extra time. I'm sure he will hop on later tonight though to see what you all have been up to.
We still have the one site like Jayna mentioned available but as of tomorrow morning it is going to be cancelled.

There is a group heading to Coos the second weekend in Sept. the 7th-11th
Quite a few places to rent down there. Some locations on the sand some in town.
Check out Craz-E-Deals in North Bend. They aren't located right on the sand so they may have better rates. The owner really helped us out last weekend down there.
As you head south into North Bend/Coos Bay take 101 to Virginia and turn left. They are on the right side.
awesome - thx!!!!

When you are OLD, it isn't the partying hard that is the trouble, it's the RECOVERY that's more of a biyatch. There should be some before and after pics fer sure.

Hello,
I just joined this forum and I'm looking for information on places to ride. Let me tell you a little bit about my family and me. There are 6 of us in all. My husband and I are in our 30's, we have two children ages 6 & 11, and my parents are in their 50's. We always ride and camp all together. We have a 50,90,2 250 utility quads, and just yesterday we bought a '06 Artic Cat DVX 400. We have a Class C 29 foot motor home and we're looking for somewhere to camp with access to trails.
Last week we went camping/riding in Sand Lake. We really enjoyed riding there. We went in the middle of the week so we found a spot. Is it usually full on the weekends? And is it more rowdy on weekends?
I know this is crazy but we're hoping to go camping/riding next weekend. I know.......Labor Day weekend and everyone else is thinking the same thing. But my husband is on vacation so we could leave on Tuesday. Do you have any suggestions for first-come campgrounds? Do you think we could get a spot at the Sand Beach campground?
Thanks,
Cari

Welcome to aboard. I would suggest you turn off your email notification if you subscribe to this forum. It can get kinda busy and fill up your email fast.
I believe you have to have a permit on holiday weekends at Sand Lake and they only issue a certain amount. It will likely be a zoo down there. After school starts it isn't as bad, but the locals fill it up on the weekend quite a bit when the weather is nice.
Most of the campgrounds that are federal and state are booked online now, with no first come first serve spots. You can check the websites for ReserveUSA or Reserve America that have up to date reservation info and contact info.
A group of us is going to Coos Bay the following weekend from Sept 7-11.

Good afternoon PSAR. Late getting on the puter today.
Sounds like the weekend is going to be a busy one for some folks. Hope everyone heals up for Monday after the "Old Man" party.
Welcome to the area Cari! You will find every kind of rider is represented on this forum and they all get along and ride together. I am quite new to this sport and have found this to be the friendliest group on the net. Visit often and post a lot, everyone seems to want to know what is going on.

How bout Moses Lake? Is that good riding? Do they have a camping area? If so, is it accessible with a motor home? Does it get wild and crazy there? I have to ask that question because we'll be going on a holiday weekend with our two children.

it is a fun place to ride on a normal weekend

Posted by: cari
okay. That is exactly what I was thinking.
My husband is dying to try out the new quad. It's bad timing because of the holiday weekend. I'm trying to convince him to wait until a quieter weekend but he is so anxious to get out there! Which I do understand but I don't want to go out there an ride if it is going to be a zoo.

Welcome to the madhouse cari
I'd stay away from Moses Lake on a long weekend........ as far as riding somewhere else, I Think I remember Wingdude is riding out of Easton (just over the top of I-90) for Labor Day, I'll yell at NWCutie to reply, She and Hondablue pull a 40 ft 5th wheel out of the Tacoma area and she knows where its good for kids, between the 2 of them they have 4, (and me half the time )

Cari: Capital Forest, just outside of Olympia, has a bunch of trails for ORV use. Trails and roads all over the place. Maps are available from the state. May be an option for you since your located in Olympia. You can find a bunch of info online and folks here are familiar with the area. I've been there twice, both times it was foggy, so don't know my way around yet.

THIRTY! THREE-ZERO ? ? ? 3X10? All this talk I thought TP was getting OLD ! ! ! Well h3ll I got scars twice that old. The man is in his PRIME ! ! He don't have to wait another minute to start celebrating. He's so young it won't take more than a day or two to recover from a real party.
Happy birthday TP. Your gettin to the age where it really gets good.

Cari,
You might try Middle Waddel camp ground at Capital forest - it's first come, first serve - if you go Tues night or Wed morning, you might get a spot. Have the kids stick to the easy flat trails around the campground (we put one adult up front, then the kidlets, then the other adult, when we are riding the trails) and leave Friday night or Saturday morning. The best part????It's free!!!!!!!!!!img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
The other option is Straddleline, but you pay there. If you do that, keep the kids off the mx track unless it is EMPTY or kids only.
We are headed down to Sandlake September 16th, but we'll be parked in the sand.
We almost NEVER take the kids on a major weekend - too dangerous.
Have fun!

Welcome to the madhouse cari
I'd stay away from Moses Lake on a long weekend........ as far as riding somewhere else, I Think I remember Wingdude is riding out of Easton (just over the top of I-90) for Labor Day, I'll yell at NWCutie to reply, She and Hondablue pull a 40 ft 5th wheel out of the Tacoma area and she knows where its good for kids, between the 2 of them they have 4, (and me half the time )
I think Winger did say something about between returning a punt in Cleveland and throwing for a Touchdown in Denver, that he and his family will be riding up at Easton on Laborday weekend.
Wouldn't that be a site to see, Winger one day actually doing a cameo on Primetime

Hi Cari you guys could check out the waddel creek campground alot of families go out there and camp and ride. It is a free campground. There is Porter creek to and you can ride out of there. As far as the beach you would probably be able to get a spot easier down in Florence area. Sand Lake for labor day would be permit only and they have been gone for along time. We don't have very many areas to ride around here. We are going to go down and try out Jones creek riding area this week, hopefully. There is no camping near the area from what I can gather, but there is a club and they do have campouts and they have one planned for Sept. 23rd and 24th at a private campground called Cold creek which is connected to the riding area there. It cost $20 for the whole family for the year and you can go on the campouts. We are thinking about doing it they seem like really nice people that belong to the club. We would love to get together with you guys sometime and go riding. My husband and I are in our fifties and our kids are in their 30's and we all ride...most of us ride artic cats. We always enjoy meeting new people and going riding or camping. If you need any info or anything email me.

Mornin' Rod, who all was riding with you down at Coos Bay? Sounds like it was a good time.
It was just Cindy and I and my good friend and his wife.
It was a blast, except the check oil bolt fell out of his 250R tranny and drained the fluid. He fried his tranny bearing. That was on Tuesday morning.
The engine is being taken to JS Racing on Saturday.
Is Happa still going to Coos next week?
My 450R really hooks up with the 22 haulershr>
I bought a set of 22' 8 paddle Haulers for my 700R just before Dunefest wow, what a difference they make!
Haven't seen hide nor hair of Happa on here all week, don't know if he's making the Coos trip on the 7th thru 11th or not. I don't see his name on the list anymore.
Happa and Val can't make the trip this time. They do have one extra site still available I think. unless they gave it up already.
WHAT!? They canceled a trip to the dunes? Shocking!hr>
Next you are gonna tell us the Padres are winning the World Series.

August 26
1970 Jimi Hendrix opens a recording studio
The Electric Lady recording studio, conceived and built by guitar hero Jimi Hendrix, opens in New York. Hendrix, one of the most innovative guitar players of the rock era, had sought to build an advanced recording studio for years, but contracting problems delayed its opening until the summer of 1970, just a month before Hendrix died. However, the studio's high-tech 36-track recording technology attracted many musicians after Hendrix's death.
Hendrix was born in Seattle in 1942. He grew up playing guitar, imitating blues greats like Muddy Waters as well as early rockers. He joined the army in 1959 and became a paratrooper but was honorably discharged in 1961 after an injury that exempted him from duty in Vietnam. In the early 1960s, Hendrix worked as a pickup guitarist, playing back up for musicians such as Little Richard, B.B. King, Ike and Tina Turner, and Sam Cooke. He moved to New York in 1964, where he played in coffeehouses. One night, bassist Bryan Chandler of the British group the Animals heard Hendrix and was very impressed. Chandler arranged to manage Hendrix and brought him to London in 1966, where they created a new band, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, with bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell. The band's first single, "Hey Joe," hit No. 6 on the British pop charts, and the band became an instant sensation.
In 1967, the Jimi Hendrix Experience made its first U.S. appearance, at the Monterey Pop Festival. Hendrix, who made a splash by burning his guitar, was quickly established as a rock superstar. In the next two years, before the band broke up in 1969, it released a string of classic songs, including "Purple Haze," "Foxy Lady," and "The Wind Cries Mary." The band's albums included Are You Experienced? (1967), Bold as Love(1969), and Electric Ladyland (1969).
After the band dissolved over creative tensions, Hendrix made his famous appearance at Woodstock, playing a masterful heavy-metal version of "The Star Spangled Banner." Later that year, he put together a new group called the Band of Gypsies, which debuted on New Year's Eve, 1969. The band put out only one album, Band of Gypsies (1969). (A second album of unused material, Band of Gypsies II, was released in 1986.) Hendrix then recorded another album, without the band, called The Cry of Love, which was released in 1971.
Hendrix played his last concert in August 1970, at the Isle of Wight Festival in Britian. He died in London in September 1970, having choked on his own vomit following a drug overdose. He was 27 years old when he died.

That would be it.
I think it might be related to the starter switch. Before I sent the motor in, it would sometimes tap the starter when I switched it from off to run. Might have not let-go and spun it up. This may be the source of my electrical issues as well, might be producing electricity while being caught up and overcharching the system. This is just a thought, I'll be taking the switch off and checking it out too. Might take the side-cover off and check out the bendix as well, to see if it's ok.

As I look at the starter, it has some interesting information on it... timing off-set, valve lash, fuel octain to be used, lubricant viscosity, idle rpm, spark-plug gap... wtf use is it buried in the motor? too funny.

Thanks,
Cari

You seem to be lookin' for the sand and I can't help you out o much there, but if your intrested in trail riding there are a bunch of trails we ride all the time within an hour of your place. Some have campgrounds some dont. With a rig your size I am not sure about the camping, but they are great for day rides.

Good Morning PSAR,
Mornin' Rod, who all was riding with you down at Coos Bay? Sounds like it was a good time.

It was just Cindy and I and my good friend and his wife.
It was a blast, except the check oil bolt fell out of his 250R tranny and drained the fluid. He fried his tranny bearing. That was on Tuesday morning.
The engine is being taken to JS Racing on Saturday.
Is Happa still going to Coos next week?
My 450R really hooks up with the 22 haulers

I bought a set of 22' 8 paddle Haulers for my 700R just before Dunefest wow, what a difference they make!
Haven't seen hide nor hair of Happa on here all week, don't know if he's making the Coos trip on the 7th thru 11th or not. I don't see his name on the list anymore.

Oh yeah, we WILL NOT be going on the Mt Molly trail from hell (expecially with me on a 2X4). You wanna do breakfast again?
UMMM! Biscuits and gravy. Name the time and place. I'll refill the first aid kit with Zantac. And yes, please, no "trails from hell". Better go WD that rear strut and crank it up another notch fore I forget. You gonna drag Chuck out of his chair again?
There is a resturant (I think it is called the Farm Boy but can't swear to it) at the 95 exit on I-5 south bound (Littlerock/Maytown exit). Red and white building on your left as you come to the stop sign at the end of the off ramp. How about 10 am again? Anyone else interested? Either meet at the resturant at 10 or the day ride parking lot at 11 AM. I will see if Chuck can come.

10 AM sounds fine to me I won't have to haul myself out of the sack till around sixish. Googled up the Farm Boy address in Maytown. Satellite image must be kind of old or your sending me to an equipment parking lot.
Corgi and I just got back from taking SWMBO to work and doing some visiting. Avoid 405 thru the Renton S curves for awhile. Some kind of mess in the northbound lanes involving a motor home and State Troopers all over the place. Southbound is plugged with lookie-loous. Idiots.

Farm Boy Drive-In Restaurant 3840 Maytown Rd SW. Across the street (north) from that equipment yard, heading towards Littlerock (west).

Anyone up for a leisurely ride next Wednesday, Thursday or Friday? It appears SWMBO is heading for a more reasonable schedule. Got it cut down to 6 or 7 shifts per week and headed toward 5. hr>
I might be up for a ride on Friday, I know I am supposed to be off but I won't know anything until Wendsay. I am not sure what Wild has got planned. He should be inroute from Reno now. Do you know of any places I haen't been yet?
I'm the wrong person to ask about where to ride, only been out three times here west of the Cascades and two of those were at Rock Candy in the fog/rain. Get lost as soon as I leave the parking lot. I'm not into high speed stuff, the bod won't stand up to that. If you have anyplace in mind, let me know. I would like to learn some other areas. KMA
I know rock candy pretty well and Waddell creek, Elbe hills, and Evans creek like the back of my hand. It don't really matter to me where we go or how fast as long as I am ridin' I got to have my smoke breaks anyway I will let you know more latter this week. Anybody else up for a Friday ride???
Posted by: PugetSoundIslander
What time friday would you want to go i can be at rock candy at about 4ish
