OFC,
Very sorry to hear about Mud Dog, Val and I pray he's alright and just needs to find his way back home.
Posted by: HappaRap
Everybody knows that poor ole YFZ Wild was on needs to stay home, it's not a good Walker Quad.
Posted by: LTZ
Just thought I'd stop by in here and try to catch OFC.
Sorry to hear about Mud Dog cowboy. Hopefully he's just likin' his wounds somewhere and shows up soon. Again, I'm very sorry. Thoughts and prayers for you and your buddy.

Any thoughts on using AMSOIL in a wet clutch system?
Thinking of what I can do to help the overheating my clutch did and the ugly noises it was making at me when trying to crawl behind Kevin over the roots and rocks. Definately not a quad that is designed to crawl along like those automatic utes. It will make the obstacle, but not without a little room to wiggle. It stopped doing it when we took a long enough break(for Wild to splint his tierod) and is also fine today, so I don't think it's anything needing major repair yet. Clutch has less than 30 hours on it-replaced it with an EBC Heavy duty one when the motor was rebuilt.
Ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Or something like that.

What weight of oil are you spinning? I have no knowledge of the Amsoil product.

Jayna MB says: 1040 motorcycle grade is available at Arlington RV and Welding supply. It is good stuff. Okay I am done being a secretary. HI and Good night.

I'm on injured reserve. No riding till spring.

Try 10/40 petroleum based, built for a quad. I went through 4 or 5 oils, before the stroker clutch would work.

I want to clear any misconceptions. It was Jayna's strap, and a stick (from a Tree) I found on the ground!

Well, I got an eye-opener. Went to Florence last week, took off on 1st ride, blew tranny out of my '01 Raptor, clear back by Center. Buddy dragged my sorry ass back to camp, took it to Florence Yamaha, and asked them if they'd stick the newer tranny in it. They were very accomodating, but it still cost me 900 bones, and I didn't get it back 'till the day we left. 2 things: Believe everybody that says the '01 tranny is crap, and wear a kidney belt when you ride a 250EX all week around dunes. BTW, I was putt-putting up the easy side of a dune in 2nd gear, talking to my buddy's daughter who was riding alongside of me, and it just suddenly locked up. All the shift dogs were broken off of 2nd gear.

i've been using the amsoil 10w40 motorcycle blend since day one in my gasser, no problems yet. racing i almost only use a clutch on starts & i'm still on the stock clutch.

It was great meeting everyone I hadn't met before. I rode behind Rancher most of the ride. I wanted to hang in the back and make sure everyone went the same way.
OFC sorry to hear about Mud dog. I had to have my dog (Dazey) put to sleep last week. She was 18 years old and had cancer in her mouth. She had been with us since she was 6 weeks old.

Someone stole the gas can off my quad awhile back. Had about two gallons in it. Brought another old can from the farm that had a hole up near the top. Put a couple of gallons of gas in it and added a bottle of clear corn syrup. It walked off last night.

DM, No I didn't really find any wood. Drove out there but it was later in the day and didn't take a quad. Didn't want to take up all the room with it. Dayum, wish I had though. I didn't realize how much faster we travel those roads on quads...BUMPY and SLOW in my truck going up toward the lake. Drove a bunch of offshoots down below, but never really found any decent areas, just got a few pieces for my trouble. Didn't really want to risk getting stuck by myself by driving offroad in my 2-wheel drive when no one knew where I was. Had my fishapple deterrant with an extra clip and the puppy with me, but no cell service up there. Sooo, I think I may scoot back up there sometime this week after work with a quad and scout out areas. Also looking for building site leftovers as much as possible like Ron suggested.
I did scare the crap out of a coyote sitting in the middle of the road though. He was bold, too. Just stared at me until I took a couple pot shots at him. Didn't really want to kill him though. I was in his territory and not the other way around.

Been a number of offers of wood on Craigslist. Rounds, split and used lumber. Check in the "free" section.

I am needing that today. I fell off my truck, from the top of the frame. I felt myself going, so I tried to jump, instead of falling between my drop axle and frame. Landed on a curb, knee surgery knee, first. It took a few seconds before even wanting to move. I think its ok ,but damm its uglier.

2 more days until TP is really really old
Posted by: warriorqueen
Well Justin got home from Coos Bay last night at about 8pm. Sounds like one of the kawi v-force's caught on fire. A friend of Isa's (the kid that broke TP) was riding Isa's dad's quad, and they had a small gas can on the back. Well it got a hole from rubbing around and the exhaust caught it on fire. People were chasing the kid trying to tell him the quad was on fire. Justin said the flames were about 3-4 feet high. They finally got it out and it melted some of the rear plastic. Justin's rolled his quad coming out of a dummy hole, and his slip on exhaust shotted off when he was at the very top. The screw came out that holds it on, must of happened when he rolled it.

On the ride yesterday there was dust in a few areas, but most trails were damp enough to knock the majority of dust down. He!!, there were even real mud puddles in places on the trails.

Bear4570, Chuck and I went to Rock Candy yesterday, dust wasn't that bad. Lots of the tree areas were damp as the fog was dripping off the trees. Course we were just kind of poking along, may have been different for you go-fast riders. Had a great time.

Yeah, been following your trials and tribulations here on the forum. All you need now is a set of raging hemorrhoids and a couple of unmentionable social diseases and you'll be fully covered. Like the man said "Cheer up, things could be worse" so I cheered up and sure enough, things got worse. Sure hope things get to looking up for you, been a bad stretch lately.

A fun time was had at Coos. A few mechanical issues with a couple of 250R's but nothing a little money won't fix.
Great weather and great friends. Can't wait for the next trip. Making plans already.
I'm tired. Put over 60 miles of seat time in on Tuesday. Up and back to Spinreel 3 times and to the beach and back in one day. Just about kicked my butt!

Good Morning PSAR,
Mornin' Rod, who all was riding with you down at Coos Bay? Sounds like it was a good time.
It was just Cindy and I and my good friend and his wife.
It was a blast, except the check oil bolt fell out of his 250R tranny and drained the fluid. He fried his tranny bearing. That was on Tuesday morning.
The engine is being taken to JS Racing on Saturday.
Is Happa still going to Coos next week?
My 450R really hooks up with the 22 haulershr>
I bought a set of 22' 8 paddle Haulers for my 700R just before Dunefest wow, what a difference they make!
Haven't seen hide nor hair of Happa on here all week, don't know if he's making the Coos trip on the 7th thru 11th or not. I don't see his name on the list anymore.
Happa and Val can't make the trip this time. They do have one extra site still available I think. unless they gave it up already.
