Just thought I'd stop in and post a quick hello and introduction. My wife and I are brand new riders and just bought two new Recons. We're in the Lake Stevens area and looking for any advice for a good, fairly uncrowded places to learn to ride. I've ridden some in years past but she's never ridden. We're mostly interested in trail riding. Any advice or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. Don't know of any places to ride in your area, I'm new to this sport myself as far as riding in the Puget Sound area. You will find lots of friendly folks here to help you out and offer advice.

Hi & welcome to the forums & the ATV world img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> AS for riding up North there is WAlker Valley(Mt Vernon area) & we go to Darrington ALOT!! It is some good riding out there especially for newbie riders that are looking to become one w/ thier machines it is logging roads & you can also veer off on trals too!! To get there take I-5 to the Arlington/Darrington exit, go to Hwy 9 & turn left take your FIRST right & follow the hwy out to Darrington when you come into town you turn left @ the 4 way stop, go to Sauk Praire Rd. & turn right(saw mill) follow out to the "T" in the road & go left, you can just follow that road which turns to gravel & find a spot to offload or follow all the way to the campground & offload there, then just go cruising HOpe this helps some, there is also Rieter Pit out @ Goldbar!!
We also live in the Lake Stevens area maybe we can hook up sometime & go for a putt w/ ya img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> It is me(400ex), my hubby Ron(450R), my son DJ(300ex), & youngest son Trevor (Kasea 50) LMK w/ a private message or just post up here if you have any ?'s BR>Have a good day & once again WELCOME ABOARD!!!!!!!!!!!

My hours will pretty much stay the same except I will be working an extra hour a day once school starts!! DJ will have to transfer to the Snohomish McD's but he's OK w/ that!! It was either that or Granite Falls & that store is dinky!!!
So I'm pretty happy about that it's nice to feel appreciated!!! Our store is now open FULL ON & it is BEAUTIFUL!! It's nice to be full on thats for sure we aren't stumbling over construction workers ect!!
Got my quad goodies the other day img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> Just got to install them now, maybe we can start on that today, all new bearings & brakes, oh gee what am I going to do haha it will roll better & stop better hmmm LOL Hate to have to tear into it again but guess thats' life BR>
So wunderboy's truck is broken now his water pump went out & whoever ownd it before stripped one of the bolt holes out so it's a leaker w/ the new one ARGGGGG gottta tap it this weeknd I hope cuz he's been driving MY car I took back over the Chevy truck oh boy fun, took 2 car washes to clean the outside & some SERIOUS interior cleaning man that thing was neglected the last year just sitting in the yard but she's now tabbed up & CLEAN. Oh! Yeah, the lack of posts. Even OFC is loosing his daily average. Must be a shift in the cosmic equilibrium brought on by the butterfly effect emanating from massive sand displacement somewhere to the South. Or not.

Chuck won't be back until tomorrow from a week at the sand. I will ask him when I see him. I know a couple of other guys might be interested and will ask them also. The wife will be off and if she is up to it she might ride too. But I like thursday.

Hey there.... newbie here (Summerfun's wifey)
rented quads today - guy put me on a 350, told me it would be easier if I kept it in 2x........ first time out, I'm thinkin', okay - get my quad legs.... first "challenging" hill, got into a rut, almost rolled it.... okay - screw this 2x crap - it's going in 4..... (I'm used to sledding, 800, piped, reeds, etc....)
next time I ride, I'll be looking for something with a little more power, but I'm thinking we're gonna be seeing quads in the yard in the near future.... (along with the sleds and boat... ) will be nice to have ALL the seasons covered....
oh - interesting info on the Darrrington area - is this Seigleson? nice to know there's a spot 40 mins away from the house!

Good morning PSAR Back from our visits this AM and Corgi dog is snoring peacefully.
Bear: Thursday sounds fine to me. Thanks for contacting folks. Any ideas on where you want to ride?
Soccard6: Welcome to the forum, kind of slow in here this morning. Seems like lots of folks are gone for the weekend. Watch for what Bear45/70 posts, he is setting up a ride for next week.

We don't ride the Seigelson area on quads, we go out to the Derringer campground area. It is down the Suak Prairie? rd. Roughly 6 miles past the Hampton lumber mill (with the one lane bridge) Dirtmomma will be a better source of directions than I will be.
Don't get frustrated about a 350 cc quad. There is no comparison to sleds, no matter what the cc's. And they don't ride alike no matter what. To go to a big cc quad I.E. sportsman 6, 7, 800 they are very heavy and mutiply the anti fun. They ride like a couch, but are just really too heavy to enjoy your first few times out.

I didn't even get to race... something with the electrics... first it toasted a spark plug... easy fix then it toasted something else. Both times I was just getting on it and then blahhh.... But I must say that it pulled freakin' hard before it gave it up. I dropped it off to have the wheelie bar fabbed up, so I get a vacation from wrenching until I pick it up...
This happened on Thursday.... Soooo... I par-took in the festivities... Started drinkin' around 4pm and decided to hitch-hike into the dunes around 7pm to watch the freestyle show... catch the bonfire and watch videos... There were sightings of me on a couch 12' in the air watching the freestyle show... then on stage... and various other places. We went into vendor row the next day for lunch, and had to sign autographs... That should sum up my dunefest experience. One guy is quoted as sayin "Dude, you owned dunefest Friday night!"
The only thing I can say is... Wow, what a freakin' ride!

We were at a family reunion, at blue lake or deep lake or one of those desert lakes. We rented a 700cc waterbike, so it was almost like quad thrashin. I tried hurting my knee and it was fine with the wave bashing. I am glad, cuz I wondered how it would go. I did stay off the tube and the wake board, though.

You are driving in a car at a constant speed. On your left side is a
valley and on your right side is a fire engine traveling at the same
speed as you. In front of you is a galloping pig which is the same size as your car and you cannot overtake it. Behind you is a helicopter
flying at ground level.
Both the giant pig and the helicopter are also traveling at the same
speed as you. What must you do to safely get out of this highly
dangerous situation?

helicopters don't fly at ground level , to fly they must be above the ground

Hey all! wow, what a trip Dunfest Rocks! I had a friggen blastI'm sun burnt wore out and still grinning from ear to ear The bolt on 700R performed well, I just need to ease up on the tree a bit. I was cutting .420 lights in practice then I pushed it a little to far and Red lit in the sportsman class but it was fun. The real blast was the duning, hill shooting and partying with good friendsBR>

Bill, I haven't finalized a ride location yet. But Simpson Timber just closed all thier land to "all" recreation uses due to the fire hazzard and will detain you and/or call the cops. So a bunch of dirt is now off limts including my local ride area and Shelton Fairgrounds. I am either stuck with Waddell or Rock Candy at this point, but am waiting for suggestions from a couple of others that might ride.

I've been to Elbe once and I'm too old and fat to work that hard for a ride anymore. Saying I'm slow now, can not hurt my feelings. I have been very, very fast in my life in several different modes of transportation and now slow works just fine for this old, fat guy just fine.

Welcome to all of the new people. Rex, I am also in the Lake Stevens area. Just let us know when you would like to go for a ride and somebody would be more than happy to go. This site is great. We might not talk about riding ALL THE TIME, but we have fun what we are doing.
Dm congrats on the promotion!
Sounds like you dunefest guys had a blast.
Moses was a blast. There was 5 of us (all girls). We had some problems but we got through them. First my friend Heidi got stuck in the sand and i unhooked my trailer, getting ready to put the chain on my Tahoe, and a guy came over with his ford, tried to pull her out in 2 wheel drive (that's what i'm assuming since his front tires weren't spinning). He started throwing sand everywhere and he blew his hub. He called his friend to have him pull him out and they all left. So we unloaded both of the quads out of her trailer, i hooked back up to her and i got her out with acouple little tugs. Loaded one quad back up and the other one got rode back to camp. We sat up the HUGE tent, i had my truck running with the lights on, shut my truck off and started unloading stuff from my Tahoe, which took 10 mins max. Tried starting my truck to move it and i had a dead battery. Great, i just deal with it in the morning. Saturday, we rode for a good three hours. I came back tried jumping my tahoe for 10 mins and it wouldn't start. Started taking the battery out, which i had to take 2 brackets off and the fuse box (cover) off to even get the wrench to turn. Went to town to Schucks, the guy told us the battery was completely dead, so i bought a new one. It took probably 10 mins to get everything back on and it started back up...Thank God! Oh yea Friday night my truck got hit with a paint ball gun too. I knew which camp it was so Saturday night, three of us walked to that camp and asked them. They were in there 19 and 20's. I didn't say hi or anything i said who the hell hit my truck with paint balls? Not us!! Oh of course not. One kid piped in and said my truck got hit too, on the dash. I said i dont' care about your damn truck. My truck is alot more newer than this damn thing and mine got hit on the paint and on my 20's . I said i dont' appreciate you guys shooting towards a camp when there is TONS of areas out in the dunes that you can shut at. One kid handed me a beer and said i didn't do it, but i think you need one. I laughed, we all talked for awhile and walked off. About an hour later 10 kids came to our camp, and told us that there camp was the one with the paint ball gun and they were sorry that my truck got hit. They also said the guy that hit my truck was passed out.
Over all we had a great time!! We went swimming on Saturday it was bath water!! Sorry for such a long post!

Good Morning PSAR, It looks like everyone made it through the weekend. Glad that everyone is back safely from Dunefest.
WQ, looks like you had a interesting weekend, glad everthing worked out. We rode at Evans Creek on Saturday, short but good. No accidents. It seems to have gotten easier there, more trail maintance or something.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Welcome to all the New Users, glad to have you here.

I'm glad you qualified the comment about fixed wing pilots. Having ridden with some of the yahoos that have done spray plane work for us I can assure you some of them think power lines are something to fly under. Fun but it tends to make you cut washers out of the seat cushions.

Umm.. No sand.. But sunds we took the Harly rake and drove around the track and ground it all out and made fluff and then raced a few laps and then drug the rut shaving drag behind the quad to get the grove back in. then my chain started skipping and i was like wtf. so i went down to tighten my chain and yeah... the sprocket side carrier bearing had grendaded and ground out the inside of my carrier and trashed the sproket spindle.. So Im in need of a new carrier and bearings and dust covers and sprocket spindle. Completely lame time for it to break. oh well its only money.

Sounds like dunefest was a real blast. Glad everyone made it home in one piece, at least no injuries reported as yet. Sounds like something for old fat men to take a video camera too and make incriminating films. And as far as the number of pages to catch up on, it was a challenge just to keep the PSAR site on the upper part of the first page of "Where to Ride".

We're up in Smokey Point.
Had a great time, riding thinking of hitting the dunes in Sept. Hope to ride at least one more time before that. It gets a little spendy renting, of course that's how we started sledding, and now we have 5 of them.

My son's show at The Viper Room was KICK AZZ!
I know I may be a little biased, but his band has gotten really good! They packed the place and rocked out for over an hour!
The new CD sounds great!
He has a neat song on it which is a tribute to his little brother, pretty cool!

Summerfun, welcome to this crazy thread!
There are a few of us going to the dunes in Sept. (Horsfall at Coos Bay)
I'm heading to the same place in a couple of weeks.
Get to know all the great people on here and you will have many different quads to try out. Everyone is always letting others swing a leg over their quad to take them for a test ride.
You might want to try a sports quad on the trails too. A lot of us ride sporties everywhere. Lots of fun on the trails with lots of power and not near the weight.

Hello All, we will be camping/riding at Easton on Labor Day Weekend if anyone wants to join. I just talked to the ranch and as of now, there are no tickets being issued. There is still NO ruling/law on wheather it is legal to ride or not. They are getting busy, so we will make our reservations tomorrow.

Not a chance! Way too far to travel when doing a double shift even for her to drive herself. Demanding job and 16 hours takes it out of a person. I can do without a ride for another week and miss a birthday party way easier than I can put SWMBO at risk. Besides, the Corgi Dog would miss his friends.

not so much a cooling issue, you squeak it, then make a trip to that parts place BR>
there is alot of folks that are running a billet cyclinder setup that hold an extra half gallon. That plus engine ice= good results.

Reminds me of when the big block V8's started showing up at the dragstrips. All us flathead guys were crying about the unfair advantage. Then came the really good slicks. Ya gotta go with what works if you want to be the lead dog. And we all know if you ain't the lead dog the view is always the same.

The guy that runs JS racing, has sold back out. He was Banshee guy and I fixxed him. Now the 450 is leaving and he bought a 700r. He asked me about some Randy Barnes, and what I thought of his quad.

I'm cancelling the ride this thursday. I hurt my knee again this morning and saw the doc today. Nothing super bad, just a bruise and some blood and really sore. So will plan on next thursday for the ride when everybody is available.

Man it really seems this ride was not meant to be. Looking forward to next week, let's hope it all holds together. Hope your knee heals up by then.

Good evening PSAR. Got the remodeling bug and worked my *** off (ok, not completely off) today. It's a huge job and realtorrider told me I'm insane. Yup. It has to be finished before school starts though.
It will be SO WORTH IT when we're done though.
By the way, LOTS of firewood up for grabs. You come get it.

It's the guy that worked on Joel's and Jayna's motors and did the head work on mine.

when Jimmy was pickin' out his goods, he asked me about fuel maps for his PC3. I told him I knew a guy ( Randy Barnes) that has a purdy damn good map. I showed him a few pictures, and told what I know about the build. ( and Happa's too). I told him he could talk to TP for confirmation, and personal opinion as well. Jim said he would, and I guess he did.

Morning PSAR!
Question,
Are they going to publish anything about the new kawi 450 sometime soon or what? All I keep reading is the same stuff with the same pictures. And it&39;s not really helping people that have patience problems. I need another cup of coffee.

Morning PSAR Little bit of drizzle today. Feels sorta good.
Please please don't talk about remodeling in here! SWMBO sometimes reads over my shoulder and the last time she got the bug the whole house was down to bare studs! Took six months of steady work to do the whole project and when it was done, we sold the house. I could of spent all that time out messing around.

I'm re-modeling the back yard... freakin' drain field went south before we went to Minnesota (it's 30 years old). Got a new design and contractor. Have several huge holes in the back yard at the moment... It will be done next week though.
Just have to plant grass next month.

Ugh! We put in two fields last year at the farm. On the bright side the grass will be really green in that area.

Ok, the carpet and padding are out of the living room and dining room. I have got all of that nasty gripper board out and the baseboards (figured I would paint the walls before putting in the new flooring.)
Time to get out the pliers and get the tacks out that they used to attach the padding. But first, I'll head over to the dump and offload the carpet and padding and stuff while its all dry. If it rains and gets wet, it'll cost me more since they charge by the 100 pounds.
The floors underneath are an interesting mix of painted planks in one part of the house and particle board in another part

Last time I enjoyed this little project the installer had used a small staple gun. If that's what your pulling out try an awl to get them started and a pair of bent nose needle nose pliers to pull them. Worked best of anything I tried but it's a real PITA.
