Kick ass.. I wonder though.. Could the Ice age be starting? Did anyone see that show on the discovery channel about how ice ages start with the warm low salinity water on top of the ocean being rapidly replace by cold water from the depths? in a rapid mix.

OFC, wasn't there a movie about that too????

think that may have been "The day after tomorrow" But thats a duffernt phenominon.. Thats where funnels drop supercooled air from high in the atmosphere ... what i was refering to was in the oceans.. if you look at whats been happening in the atlantic you can see. The mixing has slowed and the surface water has warmed a bit and is of lower salinity due to the meltin icebergs and what not.

Wasn't the crank, it was a few broken motor mounts. Got my friends fabricator to weld them up.

Your place tomorrow sometime for the manual?

Thanks a bunch, you to DM, Happa and everybody else.
We are very very fortunate to be able to get it, I feel lucky.
It will get used a lot, which is why we decided to get one.

We may blow down to Sand Lake this week, then head off to Winchester on Sunday night/monday morning

Well, there is one less Suzuki 450 in Paulson's showroom img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

They were very pro-active with the frame recall on the 450.
Early on they got a welder certified to do the welding repair and for Suzuki to back it.
They get 'em all fixed before they put 'em out for sale........

So, I just couldn't resist myself.
They gave me a great deal I couldn't refuse,
even though they are about to the end of the '06 model year I think it was more than fair.
Definately would touch an '07 for what I paid.

The '07 Z400 will have a all black LE, that should be pretty sweet..........

Hey Jayna.... or anybody else for that matter BR>Any suggestions for the 450?
They gave me the Cherry Bomb, air box vents, and removed the spark arrester.
I think that's all I'll need for how I'm gonna ride. Don't care to win any drag races.
All I need now are nerfs.
What to do you think about dropping one tooth in the front?
What size sand tires are you running?????? 20" or 22"ers?

Thanks a bunch for any info img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

Having lots of equity in your house helps, luckily we are only using half of it BR>
Next is the ho hum things that you don't want to do during the summer when you don't work.........
Carpet, paint, grass, fence, etc. etc...........
So I'm waiting until later to finish that stuff up......img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">BR>I got my 450, so momma is getting the house fixed up her way img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">BR>

Good (late) mornin' PSAR

I'm starting to feel better!

Posted by: tencubed

Good Morning PSAR. 66 F outside rite now and looks to warm up quick today.

Q4F gots lots of new stuff to play with. Congats and have lot's of fun, I know your family is going to enjoy it. Making memories for the kids.

Found the problem with the winch on my quad, blown fuse. Didn't even know it was there. It was buried under a pile of wires and camouflaged by a layer of dust. Replaced it and all is good. Added a heavy power feed to the front rack as this problem surfaced when I was running the sprayer off the power outlet. Thought I had burned out some wires as the only fuses I could find were good.

Bear: Tell Chuck to get things fixed and make it to the ride. Looking forward to seeing you guys again.

Way to go Sean!
Now you'll be traveling and riding in style!
Party at Sean's pad!

I pulled my airbox lid altogether. I happen to dislike foam filters so I also put a K&N with outerwears prefilter and adapter in. I had to cut the rear bracket for the stock filter out of the airbox for it to fit so no going back.

Don't forget you are pulling your spark arrestor when you pull your peashooter, so you will have to rig something up. I just used the open screen from my Yosh off the Z, but I would guess a straight piece of screen bolted under the endcap would work. Someone pointed out to me that Suislaw rec area doesn't require a spark arrestor, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

I run 20x11x8 Skat Trak Hauler Extreme 8-paddle on the rear and(I think)21x7x10 Kenda Dune Runners single rib on the fronts. I didn't realize it until I got to the dunes, but the rims I got were a 3 inch offset which made it WAY too wide for any trail on the dunes. For that matter it made the ride on whoops and flats downright uncomfortable, too. Found some rims down in Reedsport that were stock offset and it made a world of difference. I ran stock gearing to begin with, but dropped a tooth in the front after the first ride and really liked it better. I went everywhere I wanted to and it climbed out everything with very little effort. I LOVED IT!!! I feel it's the perfect setup. Can't wait to head back down. img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">BR>
I haven't ridden on the dual rib front sand tires. I think they are Sand Stars, but everyone that has them really loves them. I had a hard time tracking down the Hauler Extremes in 8" rim. I prefer to run 8" rims so I have less possibility of bending one bouncing off a root or something. Have had great luck with it so far. The places I usually order online from failed me, but Cycle Barn came through and had them for me in a week at comparable prices.

I got Nerfs with heel gaurds because I didn't like those stock heel guards and it's cheaper to get one unit. 22" paddle tires didn't seem like they would fit with stock heel guards. They might with the nerfs I have now, but I like the 20's.
I also have full skids. I would at least suggest a full body skid to replace the stocker as there is an oil line on the bottom of the engine that is critical to protect. The stock skid has holes in it, and while it's probably highly unlikely anything would penetrate it to damage that line, if it does, you are out a motor. Again, I would rather be safe than sorry.

I loosened(?) up my front shocks about 3 turns after the first couple rides. I like it. I didn't touch the rear. I pretty much let anyone that wants to take a spin on it. Haven't had anything but grins in return yet. img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

Congrats on the new toys. I know you will LOVE the LTR450. The new rig will be awesome too. My setup works really well for just me, but I love those big toy haulers.

Let me know if there's anything I missed or if you have any suggestions for me. You guys should try to make Horsfal in September.

Not sure what I'll do with the airbox. Maybe put the vents in and see how that does. Maybe replace the filter with a Uni-filter if they make one.
I don't know that much about this stuff.........

I'm on a sever time crunch, so I'm gonna go to Les Schwab and get sand tires (I have to outfit the 250ex,LT80,Blaster)
It'll cost more but we are leaving Friday am. Plus I was just gonna get the Sand Stars anyway.
I'll definately check the offset on the 450 wheels though to see if they are wider than stock.

I had a one tooth smaller front waiting for me when I bought this thing, but I forgot to go get it.
So I'll run and get one before we leave.

I think I'd like nerfs with the heel guards, I'll have to see what I can find.

I let my neighbors take a spin last night img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> They want to trade in their Z400's now, hehehehe

Thanks again for all the helpful info.

Thanks for all the congrats everybody. We are very fortunate to be able to do this.
We will get lots of use out of the truck and trailer with all the racing we are doing, and that doesn't count the normal camping trips we like to take.

Kick ass.. I wonder though.. Could the Ice age be starting? Did anyone see that show on the discovery channel about how ice ages start with the warm low salinity water on top of the ocean being rapidly replace by cold water from the depths? in a rapid mix.

I watched it too but your starting t sound like a tree hugging hippie hr>

Umm? WTF? Im anti tree huggin hippie rancher!!!! Unlike tree huggin hippies I know the history of the earth thru geology. This is the warming before the cold.. the perverbial summer before the winter

I ran stock gearing to begin with, but dropped a tooth in the front after the first ride and really liked it better.

Cycle Barn came through and had them for me in a week at comparable prices.

I got Nerfs with heel gaurds because I didn't like those stock heel guards and it's cheaper to get one unit. 22" paddle tires didn't seem like they would fit with stock heel guards. They might with the nerfs I have now, but I like the 20's.

Sean, if you are going to the dunes in Oregon, you might want to wait to get sand tires down there. They have a tendency to stock what the shops up here don't carry in stock because they have the market for it. Plus, no tax so there's a discount. Just a suggestion. DO NOT GET GECKOS. You could even call ahead if you are curious what they have. Schwab(At least up here) didn't really have the selection I wanted when I was looking.
I started out riding the Sandstars and prefer the straight paddle of the Haulers and the Extremes because they are durable as hell. Had my extremes on the z400 for 3 years. Still do. The straight paddles work so much better for grip coming out of holeshots and despite what you might hear they slide just fine when you want them to for trails. You ask anyone that has ever tried to follow me down the beach trail at Florence.

I ran my airbox without a lid with the stock filter too. It will work just fine and let it breathe better. I just like K&N because they are lower maintenance and seem to breathe better than foam.

The front sprocket is the same as for the z400. The rear isn't and I haven't been able to find any rear sprockets for it yet.

RMATV has some stuff, but not sure about delivery dates at this point. I found my AC Blackline(Black finish) nerfs on Ebay for much less than the AC site and most of the other sites didn't actually have them in stock. It might be better now that the quad has been out for a few months. I will post a pic in a bit so you can get an idea if you like the looks of them or not. Most of the sites don't have pics of the stuff mounted on the quad which is frustrating.

Of course, this is all JMHO.

I heard Kawi is coming out with a trail version of the LTR450 with reverse. Now that would be cool. That's really the only thing I could wish for on mine. Now that the Z is running right, I am happy to have it for trails. BR>
Cheers.

Hey Rod,

I hope you get better soon.
You are so right, definatley not fun being sick, especially when we have great weather...

How is Nate doing? Haven't heard an update in a while.
As usual,Wish him well and a safe return home.

Thanks Sean,
Nate's doing good. He has been back at Camp Anaconda for about two weeks now, packing everything up and then moving to Warhorse (Baquba area) for the remainder of his time in Iraq. Hopefully he'll be heading to Kuwaitt in October so he only has a couple more months in Iraq. FOB (Forward Operating Base) Warhorse is in a nasty area with lots of terrorist activity. The command likes how his unit handled that area on a temporary assignment so now they get to go there permanently for the remainder of his deployment. Oh joy of joys! Hopefully he'll keep his head down. He had his goggles shot off the top of his helmet in a firefight about a month ago. His best buddy took two rounds in the chest but his kevlar stopped them! Thank God for body armour!

Jayna, are you heading to Coos in August?

I know you were thinking about it. That's when we'll be down there. Jim Searles will be there too and I think Joel and Jolene are coming down for the weekend.

I was planning on it, but with my schedule change and workgroup change it's become shakey. I have reservations down there with Jim's group, but I am still trying to work out the time off that I previously had and not sure if I can afford the fuel bill for only 2 days down there. Now, being on the bottom of the seniority list is possibly putting me in a jam for time off in the summer. I haven't called Jim to cancel yet because I am still trying to get down there for the weekend at least. I have to see. I am hoping to know for sure this week.

I have confirmed that I am making the September trip.

Justin and I were just talking about this last night. The group that i go down with is going to be down there that week/weekend too. Jim Searles, The Newmans, Tp's crashing buddy is going to be down there along with their racing buddy's (i can never remember their names). Joel and Jolene know who i'm talking about. Anyways i was telling Justin that there is no way that i can get a week off work and still go hunting for a week in October/November. So i was thinking about possibly going down on the weekend. Justin might go down for the full week.

Joel or Jolene, if it's cool with you guys and i do end up going, can i ride down there with you guys and hitch hike a ride back too?? I will no more when it gets closer.

Posted by: warriorqueen

Sean, if you are planning on getting the extreme haulers (straight paddle) a good place to get them is SMI Motosports. They are located in Oregon. That's where i got Justin's and it took 2 days to get to my door, and Justin loves them.

Not gonna happen for a ride, bar-b-que or fishing would work but SWMBO has tried the quads and they are not her thing. She is willing to go the the trail head and stay at the camper while I ride but not wanting to ride the quads.

Hey Sean, MB is right, I run 20x11x8 The first number is height, second width and third is rim size. They are not too wide for the 450. All you want to watch is the offset on any rims you pickup(front and rear) so it doesn't widen out the quad more than stock.
The only diff from the ones you have to the ones I run is you will need to find 10" rims. I already had 8" rims on hand and like the smaller rim. Hauler Extremes just have a stiffer, slightly heavier paddle than regular Haulers. I doubt you will notice a difference and I bet you will really like them.

And yes, Honda and Suzuki run the same bolt pattern on the rear 4/110. Fronts on Suzuki are 4/144. Not sure if that matches Honda for the front. Glad you found some for your trip.

Thanks. I saved all the info you put in your first reply, thanks a bunch.
I've measured the offset.......it's about 3" inside, 5 inches outside.

I'll see what wheels I can find for the haulers I've got and try them out.
If not I can always get others.

Thanks again

If you are disabled the pass is free even if you aren't 62 and the only time you have to pay is camping fees and then it is half off. Pretty much a really good deal.

Douglas blue labels are the lightest, Douglas black labels are the mid weight and red labels are the heaviest. I think. Anyway, you are just looking for 10" ATV 4/110 bolt pattern rims. Nothing real special to look for in the rim just because it's a sandtire. BR>

Just got word, my cousin Ryan who belongs to 172nd Brigade Combat Team, (Stryker unit) based at Fort Wainwright, will see their return home delayed. They were scheduled to come home in 2 days after their 1 year tour, now looks like they will have their tour extended indefinitely. Their replacements are already in Mosul with them so we are waiting to hear if they will be staying where they are or moving to Baghdad. From his emails he is in the same kind of situations as Nate and has had some really close calls that are making his mother have some sleepless nights.

I am very thankful to all these exceptional men and women who are serving in our armed forces, past present and future, for everything they sacrifice to serve our country. Please keep them in your thoughts and do whatever you can to honor their service.

LdyJay is right on target with this last paragraph. Seems to me it is time to take some action that will really let these people know of the support they have. Sending e-mails and donating to "care" packages being sent says something but I feel the need to do something more.

Since Rod's posting of his son's experiances I have learned of another young warrior that has been saved by body armor. The danger these people are facing needs to be honored and it is we here in the homes they are protecting that need to do it.

Jayna,
Tell your cousin and his parents how proud I am of him and all the other young men and women who have volunteered for service to this great country in such a time of turmoil.
I know it must be frustrating for your cousin just as it is for Nate, to have his tour extended.
Nate was only going to have one tour but now with the Army's Stop-Loss program he will end up having two. He was to come back stateside for 6 months and go back for six months. Now they are telling him he will be back for a year and return to Iraq for another year.
Nate thinks he will be home , here, on December 15th. It will be a very, merry Christmas!

If you are disabled the pass is free even if you aren't 62 and the only time you have to pay is camping fees and then it is half off. Pretty much a really good deal.

Body Armor is the chiznit it has saved my azz more than once! In Special Operations we get the good stuff, but I always worry about the Infantry and other guys on the ground that may not get the same equipment, I can't say to much more but if there is anything you guys can do to spread the equipment around please do so the problem is there.

Problem is that about 4 months ago the Army mandated that no one(at least in Ryan's brigade)could wear anything other than what was issued to them. Anyone that had body armour provided from home was told to send it back home. According to the Army it may have been a problem in the beginning, but everyone is outfitted with body armor now. At least we know Ryan and his unit is. I hope all our troops have all the best.

The unfortunate truth of what we see on the news is far from the truth. You are correct Ryan's brigade is probably wearing some great stuff. Why???? Because they received world wide media coverage. There are still many troops on the ground that do not have the good equipment that Special Operation Forces are privy too. I have never heard of anybody being required to send privately owned body armor back but it would not surprise me at all, that is just good old army logic

I'll be in Boise, Ya'll have fun and be safe. I was talking to some guys at work and they were talking about the 30% disability free admission thing. It is a fact. They should tell you (or should have told you) how to get it when you do your transition assistance course or whatever you grunts call it. As for me i got all kinds of disabilities, mental and physical and plan on exploiting them for all they're worth. It's been a long hard 22 years. I figure i will deserve something when i retire, not that i don't appreciate 50% base pay.

MB, how's your back doing? Still restricted to coffee cups or are the Mugs from Alice all part of the progressive therapy? BR>

Youse guys going on the Naches ride tomorrow are making me really jealous. Sure wish I could join you. Just saw the weather report and your looking at high 60's with a slight chance of a few showers on Sunday. Going to be a great day for a ride and I'm going to be at the Pike Street Market or some such again. (insert 13 year old school girl whine here )

Wife just got her tentative schedule for this next month. They are short of nurses and it looks like she will be working at least 56 hours a week with one double shift. Sure going to cut down on the outings. A nurse in New York has put in an application but with background checks, certification checks and all that it will be mid September before he can go to work. What a load.

The farmer in the dell
The farmer in the dell
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The farmer in the dell

The farmer takes a wife
The farmer takes a wife
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The farmer takes a wife

The wife takes a child
The wife takes a child
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The wife takes a child

The child takes a nurse
The child takes a nurse
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The child takes a nurse

The nurse takes a cow
The nurse takes a cow
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The nurse takes a cow

The cow takes a dog
The cow takes a dog
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The cow takes a dog

The dog takes a cat
The dog takes a cat
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The dog takes a cat

The cat takes a rat
The cat takes a rat
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The cat takes a rat

The rat takes the cheese
The rat takes the cheese
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The rat takes the cheese

The cheese stands alone
The cheese stands alone
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The cheese stands alone

What the hell is yardword? Is that where you kick back in a lawnchair and sip a chilled corona bottle while doing a wordsearch?

Good afternoon psar! The kids are outside playing - thank goodness!

Took all 5 to see "cars" on Monday, then had Rocky's 16th birthday party Monday night. Dropped Michael and Rocky at the airport on Wednesday - Michael is spending 3 weeks with dad. That was fun herding everyone through airport security - ugh!

In my spare time, I get to prepare next year's lessons (no current science curriculum so I'm kind of winging it), set up my new classroom (I have had a different classroom each year for the last 5 years) and help interview potential new teachers (everyone else is out of town.) So far, 4 science and 2 math interviews with no hires The sad thing is this is a great district, but our pool of potential talent is a bit shallow.

Ricky goes to dad tonight, tomorrow we are celebrating Mariah's b-day, then the girls go to their mom on Sunday. whew!

Monday, I'm splitting to a beach house in Oregon with my mom, aunt, cousins to celebrate my birthday with the girls. Shopping, wine, and pedicures BR>
Have a great weekend everyone!

Jayna,

Could I possibly steal some buttons out of that little plastic box? I think we are gonna put those old cams in Jimmies engine on the Sunday. That is if we don't get tooo tipped over on the Saturday. I am hoping we won't need to re-shim, but you know how that goes.

Dude, check it out. Gotta go in for 7 hours of OT. Either crashing the 621, or exporting topsoil. Either one is EASY $$. 2nd gotta build JIMMIES engine, before he kills me. Its been back in the same garage for like 3 weeks or so. Already have the pison in and the head on. Just gotta do the cams and the new carb.
