Hey Rod,

How are you liking your truck???
I think you have the gas motor though don't you????????

I'm so confused img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">BR>I'm looking at both the Chevy and Ford 3/4 ton crewcabs, with the diesel motors.

There are things I like/dislike about both img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">
Would like to get one this week, but not sure which one........

Anybody have any good/bad thoughts/experiences with either..............

Thanks a Bunch

I would love to replace our truck with a c5500 kodiak 4X4 but you can buy alot of gas for that payment ....I dont have any prefrences per brand just comfort...dodge cabs are too small(unless you spend big bucks for the mega cab) The ford crew cab is ok but there is a little whistle between the doors that drives me nuts in the position I sit in...the other problem is most of the one ton dually trucks out there are under rated for our trailer but would work...I would just have warrenty issues...Now the kodiak is what I want .the cabs are huge. The front seat has seating for three and a center console for the driver ....air ride seat and suspension...big 22" alcoas ...duramax or cat engineand not that much more than a regular truck if you shop around ...But I'm dreaming

With the realtors in this state jacking up the prices of homes these days, I doubt I will be able to go to Florence unless I have a garenteed job by then. Maybe Coos bay! We Shall See!!!

SWMBO and I spent a couple of hours today looking at new quads at RMC. We have Bayou 250 that she is going to try but I think an automatic shift of some type would be better in the long run. Anyone have reccommendations for a 4X4 utility machine that would give a good ride and reliability for a person that is not going to be wanting to do more than easy rides at slower speeds? I kind of think IRS may be a good idea because of the softer ride. Selectable two or four wheel drive would be desirable.

Opinions solicited.

Maybe we can get something as good as the Chev/Ford/Dodge/gas/diesel thing going.

I am thinking of bringing Artichoke Parmesan Chicken to the potluck, but I need someone to volunteer the use of their oven to bake it. Otherwise I will have to figure out something else. No biggie either way. Thanks!

Thanks, I generally use a 9x13 pan, but maybe I can use a deep dish smaller one. I will figure it out and make it happen. The stuff is yummy. Couple days to Easton! Wahoo!

I'll measure the oven when I get home and let you know what size it is. I suppose I better check and see if it works while I'm at it That's the only thing I haven't tested and verified that it works. Julie & I aren't big into cooking anything that isn't grilled on the BBQ or can't be cooked in the Microwave/convection oven so it never crossed my mind to check the oven out. I know the stove top works just fine.

See you at Easton

So where would I go to have the z400 put on a dyno so I don't have to go screaming mad trying to figure out the darn fool jetting on it? Any idea of the cost involved in doing that? It doesn't have to be perfect, but closer than it is now without 15 rejetting sessions would be nice. I would hate to damage my new motor for my lack of experience, but I don't have a ton of cash to dump on it either. Any help is appreciated.

I bought a Dodge turbo Cummins last month, and installed a 4" exhaust and K&N filter. It runs strong and pulls great. I can't even feel my Quads behind me. We went to beverly and I used 25 gal of fuel there and back. We did 70 mph over the pass with eaze.
I work for Extreme auto in Smokey Pt.. We install aftermarket performane parts. We do all the deisel upgrades cheaper than enyone else. 4" exhuast,Cold air intake, and an Edge attitude with monitor runs around $1500 and makes a deisel scream.

Jayna it seems spendy giong to the extreme of using a Dyno to get your jetting right?? Did someone tell you to do this?? I'm just curious Maybe just save the $$ & unfortunetly keep trying, waht kind of steps are you going w/ the jets??? Just wondering if maybe it won't dial in PERFECT w/ the stock carb??!! Just a thought heck IDK haha just trying to save you some $$
Seems like you should be able to do some reading & ? asking on some other forums & maybe someone can get you closer than you are??? It's very frustrating I know I'd just keep pissing the neighbors off img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

DM, I agree, it does seem spendy going to the dyno to get your jetting dialed in but think of it this way, you spend all the money doing the mods on your quad and for another couple hundred bucks you can get the combination optimized and get your monies worth out of a tidy sum invested in mods plus pick up another 2- 4 HP, and know the A/F ratio is as close to spot on for your riding area as you can get as they use a wide band sensor for dialing the A/F ratio. As a bonus it takes the time and trouble and guess work out of riding , doing a plug reading, changing jets and repeating till you get close enough that you call it good. I haven't regreted for a minute taking my 700R to the dyno.

Hope you and Ron can make it to Easton, I'll bring the Crown and let Jayna mix your drinks

Well lets see here. I need $500 for the quad, and $1,500 for the truck. I need $3k, for the bills, during knee recovery.

RG, can I get a check for 5 grand? Carrisa said to go ahead, she doesn't like school anyway, no need for college.

Thanks for the invite and I would like to meet with you folks and be able to thank Nate in person. Since I have errands to run each Saturday morning I am unable to leave Seattle much before 7:00 AM. I don't know where Tahuya is so have no idea what the driving time would be. I'll try to find it on the net or someone here may be able to let me know.

EDIT:

OK, I found Tahuya on the ORV site. Looks like the earliest I would be able to get to that area would be close to 9:00 AM depending on the roads and traffic. If that would work with you folks I would enjoy the outing.

I wouldn't expect us to get there much before 10AM
Coming from Snohomish

Another question. I have never lubed my brake and clutch cables, how do I do that. I bought my wife some new handlebars for her 350. The bend on the new bars is not co operating with the brake line canI get a new brake line for her quad or get new handelbars???

Good Evening PSAR

Having dinner at 9:30 pm

I love these 16hr days to Oregon

Hap what jetting are you going to be running out at Easton if you go. Also would that matter if I changed my pilot jets as well?

Posted by: wingdude

I forgot thank Josh & Marci for bringing my baby back in one piece, THANKS. Her bike appears to be fine, but she has a bruise on her chin. She must have gotten hit by the bars as they tumbled down the hillimg src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">.

Good night everyone

You shouldn't have to change your jetting, I've never changed it for Easton. Capitol Forest averages 1000ft, Easton averages 2000ft. I'll be running 155/160, 22.5 Mikuni, 3rd position on clip, 2.5/2.75 on air screws. The only time I rejet is between Summer and Winter,

Most mods for a Warrior will work on a Raptor 350. They are pretty much the same bike with different plastic. I think the Rap 350 has a bit different gear ratio is all.
I'm surprised with new bars that the brake cable doesn't reach. Try rerouting it. You can buy a cable lube kit at your local cycle shop. It consists of a can of spray lune and a little gixmo to clamp over the end of the cable to spray the lube into. Being an '05 Rap 350 I wouldn't think the cables are getting sticky yet.

Cindy will probably have to work, so I'd say a no-go.
I may just go ahead and work that day too.

How about Tahuya this Saturday for you?

There's a few contraptions that clamp onto the cable, piercing it, allowing you to squirt lube into the cable, but not sure how well they really work, BigD tried one with little luck. You could Redneck lube it, disconnect the cable, hold it in a vertical position, squirt lube in the top, push and pull the cable and let gravity work the lube down.

As for cables for the new bars, you could get longer cables made, don't know how much they would cost though. You might be able to re-route the cables and gain an inch or so.

I'm serious. The engines has a blown head gasket and I want to replace all the gaskets in the engine to stop the oil leaks. So that requires engine removal to replace all the gaskets. If you're not using them for a while maybe I could borrow them?

I don't see a problem with that. The soonest I can round them up would be sometime next week. Get ahold of me Monday eve and well set something up.

Aussies are da best but they do not do well as outside dogs.. unless you plan on havin em in the house and with you all the time they tend to go nurotic.. you've seen mud and he is with me all the time. whenever he is not with me he gets pissed and destroys stuff. after Ducky died my oldest brother said he would get me anydog i wanted. we looked at pups up to the 1200 range. and then we found muddy by word of mouth in canada.. $305 USD was paid for him from the nicest people.. If you could find a red female we could make puppies

Posted by: OneFlyCowboy

Kymmy.. another thing about aussies. they really are a 1 person dog. while they will get along with the whole family they will usually only respect 1 person. Border collies live in the barn and aussies live in the house

You ever lived with a real workin bordercollie? Leave them in the barn with the sheep. You Can NOT live with them in the house. Unless your a nutcase like my oldest brother. They never stop they herd the other dogs. they do not snuggle. A true border Collie is a Whore and will work for anyone because the only thing thats on their mind is work work work.. Aussies are lovers. and wiggle butts. totally differnt. and they have to be around their people. border collies really could give a chit less about their people. One of my oldest brothers Border collies has to live in a box when he is not working. because he doesnt turn off. and he has two of them and they herd eachother to no end and fight. Its ridiculous.

You got both breeds pegged OneFly. We went to a Blue Heeler/Dingo cross to get away from the Border Collie attitude. One of them is always the alpha dog but the rest of them always are fighting for rank in the pack. With the crosses the alpha, always a bitch, keeps everyone in line. I also worry about Borders as they always want to control anyone that comes to visit. Nipping at heels, butts and such. Aussies really are lovers but require a lot of attention or they will find a way to entertain themselfs. Usually involves mischief and something expensive. BR>
I really don't like buying pups at pet stores, they usually come from "puppy mills" that are just kicking out as many dogs as they can to turn a profit. You'll usually get a better pup from a breeder that has been in the business awhile and lets you sit and watch the pups and play with them to find one that fits your personality. JMHO and I could be wrong. But based on past experiance I don't think I am.

ACD/Aussie makes a real nice fast maturing working dog provided its given direction. I almost drove down to california to pick up an aussie for my middle brother. It was a breeding Very hard to pass up.. Like with horses and working bloodlines i know my doggy blood too Muddys grampa is 45 Ranch Bull Tuff. one of the most bad ass aussies their has been for working Bulls Muddys Momma is what makes him a lil more on the reserved side as he is real similar temperment to her. 2 of muddys litter went to germany and work on ranches there. a couple are agility/flyball dogs in canada and andother is a boat dog. sails around the world. The people that i got mud from have an aussie stud that does not play with toys of anysort. no fetch no nothin. all he does is work. he is the best Pen dog for sheep in the NW. Its very funny though. i have had mud around the Other aussies AKA Fluff Dogs. and their people. those people look at my boy like he is a mutt. with aussies as with anyother dog its important in OFCs mind to get to know the breeder and know their philosophy and what they are breeding for and figure if that fits you. cuz when you get a dog its for the life of the dog. I am always watching rescue to find muddy a buddy. a girl I know has the dog i wanted.. but i have a feeling she will be giving me the dog cause she is struggling with the bond and the dog adores me.

I really love my '97 Crewcab PSD. It only has about 109,000 miles.
Expecially since I finally washed/waxed and took the canopy off. It looks really good.
It is a sweet truck, and the the truck I've always wanted.
I hate the thought of getting rid of it.
If only I could just find a couple grand on the street somewhere and I would keep it.
I think the guy drove the pi$$ out of it before I got it.
It really lacks power for some reason, and gets crappy gas mileage.
My trailer has only weighed at most 5000 lbs. so far. I hate going up hills and stuff.
Everything is still stock on it, I haven't added/changed anything.
But I've got buddies with the same truck, in stock form, that run way way better and get 6-7 more MPG.

Oh well, I'll figure it out I spose img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">BR>

tencubed,

I think the Kodiak is pretty good, would probably work good for your wife.
Plus the new ones have IRS..
My Rincon with the IRS is a plush ride on the trails.. It soaks up almost everything.
For the way it sounds like she will ride, the Kodiak may be a good bet for her.

Good Luck

My brother had a border collie and he never acted the way you guys are talking about. Maybe it's because he didn't train him to hurd in the sheep. My brother treated his dog just like Brian treats Muddog. He took him everywhere he went. The only weird thing that his dog ever did was nipped one person in the butt. LOL Here's the story, we were having are family reunion and one of my cousins had a hold of her kids hands and swinging him in circle's. My bro and his dog where walking by and my bros dog ran up to the mom and nipped her in the butt. LOL My brothers dog was very protective of kids but never nipped at any one besides my cousin that one time. He was a pretty damn good dog, he knew all the tricks except for opening the fridge to get a beer. He had to be put down in Jan 05, from cancer.

Another story i like to share with people, is my brothers name is Rodney, Rod for short. His dog's name was Reel, as in a fishing reel. Put them together and you got Rod 'n Reel. Reel LOVED fishing. One time we were up at a cabin up past NorthBend and we locked all the dogs in the cabin and went fishing. Reel got out some how and we still aren't sure to this day, how. Anyways we are out fishing and we here Reel barking, but we couldn't see him, well he was in the tree line running after us. Reel started swimming to us, so my brother drove the boat over to pick him up, we were probably in the middle of the lake so it took us acouple of minutes to get to him. Anyways my brother yanked him up by his collar got him in the boat, and Reel DID NOT shake once. He just stood there with the water pouring off him staring at the end of the fishing pole. When the pole would start to move he would perk his ears up and wag his tail. Once you got the fish in the boat, he would just look at it and start staring at the end of the poll again. After we caught some fish we headed back in, once we got to the dock, Reel jumped off and shook like crazy. So you can say that his name fit him.

Hey, we would love to, but Thursday nights are probably pretty tough.
Weekends or even Friday night would not be a problem, dang it.
Where is Hannegan located? I'll look it up to see how long a drive for us it would be..
Can you post the schedule so I can take a look ?????????
I honestly would love to come up to hang out with you guys and let the kids play..

I think Cole Fite races up there.
Do you know who he is or seen him?
He is probably the best 9 or 10 y/o rider you will ever see.
His quads are pretty freaking sweet.
Dad is a great guy. They have a huge Raptor 5th wheel hauler.

Hannegan Raceway

That was easy to find.....

From my house...
142 miles one way
2.5 hour drive
$80 fuel R/T

Yikes BR>Would not be a problem though if kids didn't have school the next day.
What time do they usually get done racing?????????
I think once school gets out though, we can probably make a couple trips up there.
That would be fun img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

Yea, he only had one dog so maybe that is why he was so mellow, compared to other collie's.

If the breeder is focusing on work dogs then it will be seldom you will get a really good dog for kids or just a house dog from them. That is one of the reasons I dislike the pet store puppy mill system. People really don't have any idea what they are getting.

I have seen a lot of really good dogs that would not bond with a really nice person and am of the opinion that it is because the dog has a stronger will or is just plain smarter than the person. Never have seen a good dog bond with a person they did'nt respect. You have to gain their trust and respect before they will love you. It's just that simple.

My dogs always came from the Humane Society - although as Forest says, "you never know what you'll get."

My two best dogs were aussie mixes....Michael's dad and I decided we wanted a puppy, so we went to the local Humane Society (Long Beach, CA). Well, there they would give the dog to the highest bidder, and the animal testing types always would outbid us, so we got disgusted. Well, one day we got lost in the Wilmington waterfront area (think - the basic area that the original Gone in 60 Seconds was filmed in - kind of rough) and we see a sign for an animal shelter, so WTH, we check it out. They had 2 adorable litters of puppies! both listed as australian shepherd mix. Well, he said, which one do you want? I pointed to my little precious bundle of love. His face fell, and he says, "OK." Well, he wanted one from the other litter. So we got both! We brought them home and gave them a bath so they smelled the same and they thought they were sisters.

Not sure exactly what they were mixed with, but they looked enough like pure pups to definitely be aussie mixes. They were smart, excellent frisbee dogs, and since they had each other (and later a kitten sister too,) they were protective of the family but not too obnoxious. Chip even went to a national frisbee dog contest.

I wish I had two more like them. But with a shelter, it's the luck of the draw. Sigh....

I've had an e-mail exchange with a guy names Chris that wants to ride (he was looking to join the Yahoo site)

I've invited him to Easton this weekend (his handle here is s250) He says he'll try to make it up Saturday, so everyone look out for him! Everyone invite him and someone give hime rig descriptions!

Posted by: TReX400

Well, start moving tomorrow. looking forward to it, but starting to come down with a flu or cold or something. Aint that a beeeatch. Got some buddies from work gonna help, well a bunch that said they would and a couple that will probably show. Anyway i'll be without internet or cable for a week or so. So try to hold up on the posting so i don't have to take a day off work to catch up. Hey WT check with your isp and cable company to make sure they serve the area where you are buying or find out who does and get em on it or you will be SOL for a while like me. Other than the cable fracus though it's all good, beautiful brand new house, nice area and killer view of the bay and closer to Tahuya (about 20 minutes). Ya'll have a safe fun trip to Easton this weekend and i'll post up when i get back on, or maybe from work if i can get a free minute or 2.

Funny thing about garages, I'd say 70% of them are used for storage, filled to capacity with crap, atleast from what I've seen. I personally could never have a garage like that, way too anal.

I was a very happy person. My wonderful girlfriend and I had been dating for over a year, and so we decided to get married.

There was only one little thing bothering me ...

it was her beautiful younger sister.

My prospective sister-in-law was twenty-two, wore very tight miniskirts, and generally was braless.

She would regularly bend down when she was near me, and I always got more than a pleasant view.

It had to be deliberate. She never did it when she was near anyone else.

One day "little" sister called and asked me to come over to check the wedding invitations.

She was alone when I arrived, and she whispered to me that she had feelings and desires for me that she couldn't overcome.

She told me that she wanted to make love to me just once before I got married and committed my life to her sister.

Well, I was in total shock, and couldn't say a word.

She said, "I'm going upstairs to my bedroom, and if you want one last wild fling, just come up and get me."

I was stunned and frozen in shock as I watched her go up the stairs.

When she reached the top she pulled off her panties and threw them down the stairs at me.

I stood there for a moment, then turned and made a beeline straight to the front door.

I opened the door, and headed straight toward my car.

Lo and behold, my entire future family was standing outside, all clapping!

With tears in his eyes, my father-in-law hugged me and said, "We are very happy that you have passed our little test...we couldn't ask for a better man for our daughter. Welcome to our family!!!"

And the moral of this story is:

Always keep your condoms in your car...

Yes I will have to say that my Sport dog does get a little goofy if he's in the house too long!! He likes to come in but only for about 1/ 2hr unless it's FREEZING outside haha but he herds my Chow around & I think drives him crazy hahaha they get into some good scraps too STUPIT DOGS I keep telling them they are brothers so act like it img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">BR>I would of loved to been able to train Sport w/ cows or sheep I think he'd love it & be good @ it, he's getting smarter as the years go on I will have to say!!! Funny thing about garages, I'd say 70% of them are used for storage, filled to capacity with crap, atleast from what I've seen. I personally could never have a garage like that, way too anal.

Your so right, the wife has the whole house, I have my little piece of heaven called the garage. Ohh and just for the record my wife has all her teeth LOL.

My sig has said that for almost a week! Congratulations, you are the first to notice.
Either the oil rings didn't seat or something was re-assembled incorrectly so I plan on breaking it down this weekend to take a look. It blows a ton of oil smoke on start up and it shouldn't be doing that.
I hope to get it fixed right so I can take it for a spin and see if there are any power gains.

That's what Jolene was refering to when she mentioned Joel helping me with a valve adjustment.

I am all packed and leaving about 7 am sat morn headen out to Easton. If you see a green Toyota T100 pulling a trailer with a muddy white & blue Z400, that's me. Look forward to meeting everyone.

Well it looks like Marci, Michael, and I will head up to Easton early in the morning and get some riding in.

We'll be bringing Mark's Julie her cream puffs and chocolate syrup.

Don't know where we'll park, but we'll figure it out.

Cheers!

Good Morning PSAR! Another wonderful day for sure. Little gray out with fog and dew all over everything but it should burn off later.

Our oldest son got here yesterday and we got all the work stuff done so will visit relitives this afternoon. Wish I could be at Easton but this is lots of fun too. Need a clone to be able to do everything at once. BR>
Hope all you good folks that couldn't make the ride are having a great weekend. I know everyone at Easton is having a ball.

Son and I will be going over to RMC for lunch and spend some time checking out the rides for the wife. He may take a couple of sport bikes back to Mexico, has to make some calls about the duty and fees thing to see if this would be a better price or just to buy there locally. Either way they will be available for use when we visit.

Gotta go help make breakfast. Yum! Bacon! img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

Maybe one of you guys could help me. Used to be a Riflesmith by the name of Jerry Shannon that had a shop in Spannaway. He passed away a number of years ago, early 80's, and I have been unable to find out what happened to his shop and the tools. He had some brass forming dies that were unique to a couple of wildcat calibres that I modified and I need to have some brass made up or buy the dies to do it myself. Any ideas about his family or where his stuff may have gone? I know his wife moved to Anacortes but she also passed away. I have searched the area for relitives and such but with no success. If you have historic knowlage of the area and can give me any leads I would sure appriciate it.

This is important stuff, kind of like quads. BR>
