I denounced racing several weeks ago. I will do special lower speed TT's and I will run the ice pro next year, if it comes around. Other than that let someone else be a target for over biked, under brained 15 year olds.

Hi Ray,

Did Jenna get her arm looked at today? What's the word? She never said anything much, just that she needed some aspirin because her wrist ached.

Keep us posted and give her a hug for us.

Old guy, rides a Ugly Green 660 Grizzly. If it's dusty he wears a respirator mask.

No idea, but it's one of those DNR run deals so there could be several trails involved.

TP, Sorry to hear about the severity of the MRI verdict.
Found your post-surgical ambulatory assistance devices and they are ready to go. They are even an extra set so you are welcome to hang onto them as long as you need, no extra charge.

Going to get sand tires for the R450 soon. Haulers or Extremes, 8 or 9 paddle. I know what I like for the Z, but have never really gotten a good explanation of the best way to choose the number of paddles for the type of riding I want. Soooo opinions and suggestions would be appreciated. And I haven't ridden regular Haulers. Anyone had the opportunity to ride both Haulers and Extremes and can tell me if there's a big difference? I know the Extremes are a stiffer paddle. Does that generally translate to more hook up or more float?

Stock rear dirt tires for the R450 are 18x10x8. I already have extra rims so I am thinking Hauler 20x10x8(8 paddles) and drop a tooth on the front sprocket. The goal is to maintain good hookup for the treeshots and hill climbs at Florence type dunes in dry summer sand so I am not stuck at the bottom of the treeshot or digging holes half way out. 20x11x8 means it's wider? I really like the gearing it has as stock, so dropping a tooth in front should compensate for the bigger rear paddle tire, right? THANKS for the input.

Chuck told me last night that he's working with the DNR Saturday, along with others on the trails, should be finished up by 1:00PM. Not a good day to work the trails, a beautiful spring weekend, they'll be a boatload of riders out there.

The DNR web site also said that the pit may be in use for gravel removal so I'll head top Elf. Pass or Goat Road.

Jump on the Overland Trail out of Elfendahl Pass Staging Area, it will cross Goat Ranch Road after a 1/2 mile or so ( very easy ride on that section of the trail ), stop at the road and turn to 10:00, you'll see the area Cheech is talking about. I believe the Kammenga Campground is right next to this riding area.

I've been on many a work party up there, DNR knows they'll be riders on all the trails, they just have to step aside and let the riders pass. They don't close the trails they work on, they just have to work around the riders.

He's right, they usually send the work parties into 2 or 3 different areas and work 4 or so hours.

Jayna,

22-11-8 8 paddle Extreme Haulers, gives you alittle more ground clearance ( if you plan on runnning a skid plate ), your quad already sits low enough so the taller tire is not an issue. The Extreme holds up alittle better than regular Haulers on the pavement. With the 22's you'll want to go down 1 front or up 2 rear.

Since I've never ridden that quad, I have no idea of the gearing and having 18's on the rear, stock, maybe 20-10-8 would work better with 1 dropped in the front.

Have you been talking to my brother??? He has been talking about that for a long time. He actually has a motorhome that he started ripping apart but it was all rooted (not sure on the spelling it doesn't look right) so he stopped. That idea is still in his mind though. Also if you go in his house he has shortbus's all over his house. My cousin's call him the short bus driver. He always tells them hey i rather be the driver than the kid that licks the windows. LOL

I don't think I can fit a 22" paddle because of the heelguard clearance. I might have more when I get my nerfs/heelguards installed(If anyone ever gets the dang things in stock) but I think I am only going to be able to get away with 20". The Extremes I have for the Z have held up really well so I suppose I should stick with them. Just having a hard time finding them in 20x8. I don't want to run 10" rims, I will taco them in a second. With 8's, I have the tire wall to bounce off roots or whatever.

Any ideas on 8 vs 9 paddles? I have all kinds of torque the way it is, so I am curious how that will translate to the sand tire with one more or less paddle. I have 9 paddles on my Z, but I just took the tire guys suggestion for my setup at the time so I don't know why.

THANKS!

I agree on the 22' x 11' x 8' size. I don't know if 8 paddles would be to much on the LTR 450 or not but I know from reading dyno graphs their torquey little devils. I know I'll be running 8 paddle haulers on my 700R for racing up the hill and on the flats, personally I like the straight paddles for hill shooting and flat dragging but IMHO for all around playing I think the sandstars are the best choice. I'll bring both with me on my future dune trips.

HAHA, that is definately stripped down! However, I am a Skeeerrrdy Kat! I can't ride without heel guards, I balance too much on my heels. I would end up getting sucked right off my quad, I gaurantee it.img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0"> I really don't like the bulky elephant ear stock heel guards though so that's why I am thinking of just getting ones that are incoporated in the nerfs. As it is, I get nervous riding without nerfs but I just deal with that and scream along anyway. How can I resist? I can't. That's why I keep getting that chit eating grin when I ride it. img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">Can't wait for the Florence trip!

They have the same classes at Hannegan.

"D" class is dangerous. Alot of green riders that have no clue to look ahead. They cross jump, just dangerous.

You'll be better off starting him in a "C" class and let him get his azz handed to him for a few weeks. These guys have already been jumped on and look out a little bit at least.

I'm not saying I know everything, but I did race MX on bikes as a kid. Give Pops a call, he will prolly give you the same opinion.

SON OF A BIATCH 3 post attempts on the shortbus topic and no go guess i can't talk about the super secret shortbus crew.. I did see a shortbuss rider licking the window and lookin at mud dog like hanibal or sompin. Kinda freaky..

Tires.. hmm. i dunno. I trashed my sandstars on the gravel and pavement the other day They were the tires i put on the old warrior when i highjacked the Holeshots off it. so when i was riding that one around thats what it had. They lost some life

Burnt Ridge will not allow quads to practice. The races for the nortwest Quad National Series may be changed to a different track.
They guy was pleased the quads don't tear the track up as much as the bikes do, but he basically told Bob no way in hell the quads will get a practice.
I won't go into the whole converstation cause I don't remember all what Bob said, but it apparently wasn't to pretty.

There is a race at Pacific Raceways on May 6th (practice) and 7th (race)
There is another one at Horn Rapids on May 19-21st.

Wingydude,
Hope Jenna feels better and has no damage to the arm. Good luck to her, tell her to heal up quick.

TP..............
Good luck with the knee. I've had both ACL and meniscus. Not much fun, but once fixed you'll be like new.
JUST make sure you get a good Doc to do the repairs for you.
I was off work for 6 months with the ACL. Had the hamstring graff.
With my work I obviously couldn't go back until I was 100% completely heeled up. Hopefully you can return sooner.
With the miniscus tear, the Doc just cut of the part of my miniscus that was tore and let it heal up. To tore up to fix.
Was off for about 3 months for that one.
You've got both at the same time, so hopefully all heals up well.
Do some searching for ACL repair. Read up on it a little so you know what to expect and what questions you might want to ask the Doc.
I actually watched a show on Dixcovery that did an ACL replacement like mine, that was really cool to watch.
I know a couple guys that had a cadaver graff vs. the hamstring graff, they did pretty well to.

Good Luck img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

DM,
Come on out to PR. We'll hopefully be there Friday night.
DJ will have a good time.
Bring your riding gear, then you guys can do the Team Race on Saturday, that's fun.
If DJ's a good rider (which I 'm sure he is) maybe the C class would be better. But, the D class riders have been pretty good. Last year they actually had a little class with them before going on the track. Talked about holding lines, etc. etc. The riders all did well.

It would be cool, but not worth 5k. You probably wouldn't like it in the tight woods, but it could be set up to kick butt.

Old guy, rides a Ugly Green 660 Grizzly. If it's dusty he wears a respirator mask.
Do you two ride together anymore? I told him to bring his Z400 to Easton, no need for that Grizzly up there hr>

We still ride, but I've only been on one ride since Nov. and that was a real local deal of only and hour 15 minutes. Chuck and I are trying to put a ride together, but life keeps interferring. Chucks Z is like your 700, sand only.

When you get into Belfair take a right on Clifton (first stop light) go straight through the 4 way. take a right on Elfindahl. Its the next right after sandhill road. Sounds like we're getting there around 10 am

Tahuya is over by Belfair across the bridge from Tacoma south of Gig Harbor. Just past Belfair State Park you take a right on Elfendal Pass Road and take it to staging area.
I hope to get out of Snohomish by 8AM (0800 to you) and it is about 1.5 - 2 hours of drive time if I remember correctly.

Posted by: Red400EXRod

Weather dot com is calling for sunny skies and 64 degrees in Belfair for tomorrow!BR>Should be great riding.
I don't know the area very well, only ridden it twice and once was a poker run.
We'll probably get lost like we did the first time we were there!BR>Need to get home this afternoon and fix the trailer brakes, the malfunctioned on our last trip to Sand Lake. Should be an easy fix.
Better renew all the tabs on the quads too!
