FREE ! FREE! FREE!

You want I should email you a picture?
He says he wants it gone by the weekend or it's going to the dump!
My buddy Jordan still hasn't decided. I will give him a few more hours to make up his mind.
If I didn't live right next door, I would take it, clean it up and sell it for at least $500.00

Got it figured out, you have to pump the foot pedal several times to get the quad lowered, it's not like my 3 ton jack, you know, turn the handle left and it goes down fast, the atv jack just goes down like one inch at a time.

Breakfast at 8:00am at "The Place", ride starts around 9:30am.

I-5 south, take 101 west in Olympia, you'll cross over a small bridge with Cow Sculptures to the left, there's also a blue sign on the right saying "The Place", take the next exit, turn right, then left (not the first road, that's the get on for the highway), the restaurant is on your right.

Yes, I left early, about 5:45pm (dinner w/ the wife).

That belongs to my buddy Danny. He is the one that owns the Easton Saloon. And, yes, he rides. He has a OLD school Zuki hard tail.

OK, Jordan passed on the FREE camper.
It is a 1975, 9' camper and it will fit a Ford PU but not many chevys (the newer ones)
It is self cantained with bathroom and shower combo and has a working refridgerator, furnace, stove/oven and water heater.
It even has full propane bottles.
It has a leak in the roof that can be fixed. It has gotten water in it this winter so it is musty with some mold present.
The jacks are good and solid.
With a little elbow grease this could make someone a comfortable camper.
This camper is FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He either gives it away or takes it to the garbage dump.
I will put it on Craigslist for him tomorrow, so if you think you might want it, get ahold of me ASAP.

Looks like I will be back from the farm next week in time to meet you folks and take advantage of the invite. Looking forward to it for sure. What would be the drive time from SeaTac to "The Place" considering my little 4 Cyl S-10 will be dragging the trailer. Speed limit but no more.

I will try to make rock candy on the 8th. I agree about the ex not being a pirate bike, doesn't end with R. I was talking about I (as in AYE). Anybody remember the pirate alphabet?

Probably an hour, I live in Auburn, it takes me about 40 mins.
I-5 South
Take exit 104, US101 toward Aberdeen/Port Angeles
Drive 4.8 miles, then take the exit toward 2nd AV SW (cross the small bridge right before the cow sculptures, it's the next exit)
Turn right onto Mud Bay Rd NW
Turn left on Madrona Beach RD NW
"The Place" will be on your right

From 17010 International Blvd to "The Place" is 54 miles

No camping is allowed at Rock Candy Staging Area, Middle Waddel is the campground, it's on the other side of the mountain. Ride starts around 9:30am, finish up around 3:30, depending on how far we go.

Posted by: warriorqueen

I went to CB last night to get some plugs and my sprocket, MB tells me Leon ( a guy we ride with) Bought a 700 today? Are you serious, i ask, Yep MB answers. Again i ask are you serious, MB yea, with a laugh. Come to find out Leon bought a 700 and is setting it up just like Justin's. Same pipe, same commander.

I guess i should tell you all about Leon. He never got into quads until about 2 years ago he went out and bought two, honda 250's for his boys. Not enough power so he went out and bought 3, suzuki/kawi 400's. He still kept the 250's for his daughter and a friend. He bought the 400's right before i got mine. So that was right before we went to Winchester Bay for the first time. Now as you all know we are going to ST A's this next week. So he goes out and buys a 700. I don't think i have ever sen him out of 3 gear so this will be interesting.

Now i get home and Justin calls his buddy Regan who got his son a honda 250, bought a z400 the same day i got mine, then last summer bought Jim's banshee. He was talking all this BS about how the banshee is so much better than the 700 and he was going to beat Justin on every race they had. Well that didn't come true, last November when we went to Oregon. So Justin called him and guess what he was doing, out buying/shopping/pricing a 700!!!! He said he will have one on his trailer before we leave for Idaho.

Now i'm going to be the ONLY STOCK 400 in our group out there. Which kinda sucks! Down at Winchester Bay i did beat acouple other quads but not much. I can take the loss if it happens. Obviously leon and regan can't. Justin finally gets a quad that will still pull a wheelie when he is on it. Justin is a big guy, so if a quad can still wheelie when he is going through the gears is a awesome machine if you ask me.

Anyways, MB if you are working today, you might see another victim at CB buying the blue 700!

Thank you for the call, but we will pass.

Well thats a BUMMER I thought you might be able to join us on some camping trips oh well you hve a tent as long as you don't forget poles BR>

Good morning PSAR.

We are passing on the camper do to the "damp condition".

TractorPacker, Slomoe, and myself are the founding members (last Saturday, over beers, in Jimmy's garage) of the PSAR Pirate Bike Owners Group (PBOG). We have standards for this elite group of people. One must have a Honda origin "R". 86-89' or the newer "valve adjustment" 04-06 version. Your membership must be approved by the three of us (prolly over beers, apple pie, or a "routine valve adjustment") unless you own 2 or more "pirate bikes". If you are a multiple owner, you are in automatically. If you have a "pirate trike" you are godlike, and are in, no questions asked.

Small stickers will be made for those that would like them, let me know.

Wish i had a gun with me when bing, Rckyman, and myself were in capitol forrest on saturday. We say a large cat breed unknown. we were out somwheres between the E-4000 & E-5000 area.. I know a guy that raises chickens and turkeys and pheasant and what not Just down below where we saw the cat. It was a dark brownish red with black spots sorta maybe brindle.. i came rollin round the corner and it spotted me and took off i stopped pointed it out to bing and he tried to run it down. Id suspect the cat was in the 100+ lb range. Large.

Posted by: OneFlyCowboy

Ohh yeah. And all the black bears i have seen in capitol are way more scared of me than i am of them I tried to catch a cub a couple years ago. Momma bear wasnt to keen on that idea so i bailed on that plan

Probably a Mountain Lion , lots of them in the Capitol Forest. If it was half that size, I would say a Bobcat.

Those mommas with a cub or two can be about the nastiest thing you can imagine. If you are between her and the cubs, the best place to be is elsewhere, any where else. I saw a 250 pound she bear go thru a pack train like a bowling ball hitting some light weight pins. Fortunately for all concerned she kept right on going with her cubs. If she had decide to turn and fight it out, there would have been dead and wounded for sure.

Yeah if thats what you saw there was probably a large female somewhere close by and they are almost as intolerant as bears when it comes to messing with their offspring. would've made a nice pair of slippers though

Posted by: TReX400

Saw a show on discovery about big cat attacks in PNW and Norcal. Pretty nasty temperaments and usually attack something thats moving and cause horrific damage if not death (Mtn bikers). So if i was to see one and he was giving me the stink eye and not running away....... bye bye kitty

Posted by: OneFlyCowboy

It was an awful big cat for a baby. I dont think its momma was around. I was just sayin it wasnt that strawberry blonde cougar color im used to.. it was Dark and sorta spotted and BIG.

Posted by: OneFlyCowboy

If i have a gun with me and i see kitty on my side of the woods its by by kitty.. they like fols, and calves and geese and chickens and such.

Posted by: TReX400

Yeah, I'm not sure when they lose their spots and lighten up. From the size you describe it was probably a large juvenile.

Posted by: TReX400

I like using big words like that, makes me sound like i know more than i actually do. But i still think a spotted kitty would make a nice pair of slippers.

You better buy a cougar tag then, because the local gamies don't believe that the cats, or bears for that matter, bother people.

Tubby and I saw what appeared to be a Lynx in the 75 pound range (big as a boxer and colored the same) up near Camp Grisdale last year or was that this last summer. He was really moving too.

Me plus-1. Going to try and make breakfast also. That way it will be easy to just follow everyone to the staging area.. How long of a ride is it going to be (mile wise)
Probably around 20 or 30, depends on the pace. I'm going more for lenghth of time for the ride, we can always jump off the trails and ride the logging roads back if it's getting too late. I'd like to be back at the staging area around 3:00, it really all depends on what everybody else wants to do, majority rules

Hey yall,

Its been awhile since I chatted at yall on the NW forum. Hope all is going well. Man, its hard to keep up with you all with as many posts as you all do! Phew!

Im racing the new Suzuki LTR in the Western States Police and Fire Games in June. Driving all the way to San Diego to do it. Hoping to foster some contributions from my quad friends to benefit the TRIBUTE TO HONOR foundation. If you are interested in tossing a few bucks their way, I would greatly appreciate it.

WHAT IS TRIBUTE TO HONOR?

It is a non profit organization that helps Police, Fire and EMS personnel who have been injured or suffered a loss in the line of duty. One of my friends, SGT Damon Coates of the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office was shot in the face by a 15 year old emotionally disturbed teen a couple of years ago. Damon was unable to return to work due to the brain injury he sustained. The Tribute to Honor Foundation is purchasing a hot tub for him, so that he can have a little bit of comfort, and to honor him. That is a small example of what they do for our heroes.

You can find out more about them by going to
tribute to honor

I will be doing my best to represent the NW in the games and hope to whoop on some ff butt!

PM Me if you are interested in putting a few bucks towards my charity.

Thanks

Ken

Nate comes in on the 7th or 8th and Bobby gets in on the 8th.
Cindy doesn't know Bobby is coming up so it will be a good B-Day (albiet a little late) surprise!

So No, I will not be on the Rock Candy ride.
I'm thinking of Tahuya on the 15th or 16th though.

Got a question, in the way of protective gear, are more than helmets required to ride at CF? I don't have any "armor" and would have to pick it up this week if needed.

Posted by: Josh14

tencubed, All that's req'd is your helmet. All I wear is the basics. Helmet, Boots and Gloves. Some people choose to wear chest protectors, knee and elbow guards, but it's up to you.

Hey Ken,

Got any more info, or a website for the games? I'm running out the door right now so I'm to lazy to look.
If I don't hear from ya, I'll do some searching next week.
If I get my new truck, I may be interested looking into that. Also try to get a couple other guys I work with to come down and play.

Thanks a Bunch

If they are gonna go fast enough to require more than a helment, gloves and boots; I just flat ain't riding with them. Besides we don't have to race with the youngsters, they will wait for us every time.

There are going to be way o many riders with out of the poker run from Waddell Creek. I haven't seen the long course, but I will bet it includes the North Rim passed Rock Candy.

Um bear i would venture to say negative on the northrim when staging outta waddel. Thats sompin like a 60 mile loop. noo way they sendin them out on that.40 miles max they will do the long loop... If i busted out my map i could tell you what loop is practical for them to run hey will most likely go up to rock candy mountain at the far end of it come down and head back. thats likethe rockcand molly loop or sompin. they go waddel to molly to candy back to waddel thats about 35 - 40 miles .

Last I read on it, the long course was gonna be 50 miles at least.

wish i could remember the trail names

I cant believe they would loop either out north rim #1 clear to porter then come back on #8. thats a long arse ride from what im lookin at. I would like to do that ride but i think i would need to refill at porter and waddell before i made it back to candy. theres a couple long stretches in there.

Last time I rode out of Rock Candy when a poker run was going out of Waddell, we ran into a bunch of them up right up above the parking lot on North Rim. But I go out of my way to avoid that kind of thing. Bear, I think i got some 500gr JSP loaded. Had some 700 cast leads (10 of em) that i bought on ebay from a guy in alaska. shot all those and don't plan on buying any more. too hardcore for me. I think the 500 mag shoot 400gr at around 16-1700fps. Not too shabby. also got a ruger p90 and a Llama 38 super for the neighborhood cats.

Posted by: tencubed

OK, now let me see if I got this. One chainsaw, a shotgun, winch for salvaging saggin sporty types, a backpack to put deer parts in, one small pocket knife and a wrist brace for Bear. Right?

Got an old McCullough that the chain is sorrta good on yet, how about a double barrel Greener type in 10 gauge? Would that be OK? Winch on the Prairie is kinda weak but it, a couple of double blocks and a few hunnard feet of rope and she'll be good. Got a pocket knife that ain't too horrible dull so that's OK. But the backpack you'll have to bring yourself cause I ain't about to carry no hooved rat nowhere!

Posted by: TReX400

What you want to trade for the greener?

Posted by: TReX400

or how much

Posted by: tencubed

Oops, forgot the wrist brace for Bear. Well we can get into a thicket and cut out a forked limb. That and a little duct tape should hold him together for a few shots. Long enough for the rest of us to skedaddle outa there anyway.

It's not a "True" greener, just a copy. Thats why I said "greener type". You used to be able to get them for around $800.00 most anywhere. Haven't seen them offered for some time. When I got mine I also got 100 brass shells for it. I think my sons bout wore it out shooting (at) ducks and geese. Really not interested in getting rid of it. Seems I always add to the collection rather than weed it out. Marginally cheaper than drugs I suspect.

I know what you mean, i just had to buy a nightstand gunsafe so i could keep all my handguns locked up. Had been keeping all in one but the shelf was getting a little overstressed. Got 10 rifles (some pretty interesting), 3 shotguns and 4 handguns.

My Grandfather, Dad and 4 uncles all hunted and fished a lot. I was the only grandson/son/nephew of the five boys and inherited a few nice items. My wife and kids have also fed my addiction over the years much to my amazement and glee.

I see you are going to be at the ride on the 8th. Be a good chance for us to compair notes on what we have and what we "need".

700s are for pain seekers, even in rifles. My normal load is a 405 gr LFN at 1600 fps. I shoot these for hunting out of my Contender Super 14. I have some 350 JRN for my Ruger #1 that leave the muzzle at about 2200 fps, but those hurt even in a rifle. I don't list my guns, but the wife has more than you do, if that gives you any idea.

WEll once again TGIF haha what a day but the weather sure was nice!! Trying to get Thurs.& Fri off next week to do some camping w/ the boys, thinking of going somewhere new? A friend of ours called as they were getting ready to go to SL & told us of a place up I-90 mile marker 9? IT WASN'T EASTON anyway might think about checking that out, see if Ron can take Fri. off so we can have a little spring break!!
so that's the new's in the Sandvig house img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> if we don't go there then it may just be Darrington, DJ, Trev, & I we'll see!!

Bear gave up the wrist braces after his surgeries in 2004. I carry 2 nylon 20 foot tow straps and 225 feet of nylon climbing rope, plus a come along and 2 snatch blocks. I'm ready to pull their trucks out. I see no reason for a backpack (our deer aren't that small anyway) but my machine will carry me plus 300# of cargo, that should cover any game strikes (bullets of quads), maybe even a sportie rider or 2. Oh yeah, I carry Larry's favorite tree cutting hand saw too.
