Posted by: dancingqueen

Not to change the subject or anything...Jaybird, where you been? I havent seen you around much?

Posted by: JayBird04

Just wondering if there are any females that are interested in riding with us guys. We usually don't have a high turnout of riders any more and sometimes it is fun to ride with a passenger. You can bring your own quad or ride with us. We usually ride on holidays, 4th of July, at my cousin's. There are trails, mud holes, hills, etc. Other girls would also help get one of my cousins to ride with us. She never rides anymore. Thanks. FYI, we are around the ages of 18-25.

Posted by: JayBird04

What's that supposed to mean?

Posted by: JayBird04

Doh!

Posted by: JayBird04

I guess all the girl riders are out in cali. Thanks for the invite. Maybe someday when I get my high paying job, I will be able to fly my cousins and myself and our quads out to cali. And the tricks will definitely keep coming.

Posted by: JayBird04

Thanks Queen. One day I will make a trip to Cali and I hope to see ya both. But until then, anyone in Ohio?

Posted by: JayBird04

i guess i will have to goto match-maker or something. maybe the personals.

Posted by: JayBird04

thomez,
what type of riding are you looking for? my cousins and i all have sport quads. we do some track riding, trails, mud and hills. i guess i could try to let you know the next time we ride. around what area do you live? i don't think it is that bad riding double. i guess it depends on what kind of riding you are doing.

Posted by: JayBird04

thomez,
that place sounds pretty nice. can people just go there whenever they want? if you can, give me a little more info about this place. thanks. sorry about you having to leave. I live about 10 mins from garretsville and hiram. ravenna is also about 10 mins from my house.

Posted by: JayBird04

that place sounds pretty nice. make sure to give me some directions when you get them. I don't know when i will be able to go, but i will definitely try to make it there. i used to play soccer at st. joes too. i played when i was little and then quite and just played baseball and football. i will be sure to check out trailsheaven too. thanks.

Posted by: JayBird04

i have never been to lorain. what kind of riding do you do around there?

Posted by: JayBird04

that lorain place sounds interesting, but i think i rather ride where i know it is allowed. any more info about "elson street"? hours? thanks.

Posted by: JayBird04

i wish i could go up this weekend but we have crap to do around the house. hopefully it isn't raining. have a good time riding.

Posted by: JayBird04

it sounds like a good place to ride, so i will definitely try to get there before i have to go back to school. Since this is a forum about girls that ride, are there any girls riding there when you go?

Posted by: JayBird04

thanks thomez for the lowdown. you keep me informed.

amstaff, Damn Striaght!

Posted by: JayBird04

thomez, sounds like some good riding. do you guys go for just one day or can you stay there for longer? i am trying to figure out when i would be able to go. i think i might make it there in the fall sometime. i got too much to do around here.

Posted by: JayBird04

thomez,
now i really want to ride there. can you give me an address or some instructions how to get there? they have any good hills there or some make-shift tracks? how about a stream(not muddy, but clean running water)? i will definitely try to get there before school starts. i hope i can find time.

queen,
i am happy to hear you enjoy reading my forums. it's good to hear i am pleasing someone, especially a girl what happened to the pics?

Posted by: JayBird04

raptor03rider, that is basically the way the people i ride with act whenever a female is present. that is usually why none of them come back to ride again. oh well.

thomez, i might be able to do that. my last day of work is tuesday(19th) and i don't start school until the next monday. i will try to let you know sometime this weekend.

Posted by: JayBird04

queen,
yeah, i need to get some new pics of the garage. i finally got it a little cleaned up.BR>
thomez,
i hear those cannondales are pretty nice. i little expensive too. i hope you get it for a good deal!

Posted by: JayBird04

i'm up for the challenge!

Posted by: JayBird04

you guys end up going to elson or what? was it a good time?

Posted by: JayBird04

hey all you girls around here, we are having a riding party pretty soon. it will probably be the last one for this so called summer. so you better speek up now or you will have to wait till after winter for the next one.

Posted by: JayBird04

thomez, i guess i will have to beef up my raptor so i can give you a challenge on that 'dale. so, how far have you jumped it?

Posted by: JayBird04

i think i will wait until i jet it and get some new suspension before i think about trading it in. it has been giving me some troubles with the carbs, but i am hoping to fix that when i jet it. any time you want to try that 'dale against my raptor you let me know.

Posted by: JayBird04

I don't think my quad is going to be stock by next summer. I already have a k&n air filter and i am planning on jetting it and getting a yoshimura exhaust. a 'dale should be able to keep up anyway, right?

Posted by: JayBird04

well, all you ladies missed a darn good riding party. we had some good times. a few wrecks and lots of fun. oh well. later.

Posted by: JayBird04

well thomez, i got the raptor jetted and piped. i have only been able to ride it around the yard a couple times, but it seems like it is ready to rip. maybe by summer i will also have enough money for new a-arms and shocks. that would be sweet! i think that is the last thing i want to get done to my raptor. then it will be a race machine what all you got for your 'dale? gotta size up the competition

Posted by: JayBird04

thomez, i haven't done much to my raptor lately. i have been thinking about getting an edelbrock carb. they are supposed to give a 5hp gain. i have to wait to see how much of a loan i get for school before i can buy anything else for my quad. man, you must have a nice job or something. going to school and buying all that good stuff for your quad. you got it made!

Posted by: JayBird04

thomez, are you suggesting that i get fcr's instead of an edelbrock? you said "FCR deal? Sounds like a good plan to me. 39 ... good for all mods you could put on there in the future too." what is that supposed to mean? yeah, i need to find me some part time jobs so i can work when i go to school. because only working on breaks doesn't give me enough cash.

dancingqueen, i haven't been around lately because of some crap i had to do. just didn't really have time. and with that lost lottery ticket out there somewhere i had to try to find it! i'm glad to see someone is keeping an eye on me.

Posted by: JayBird04

thomez, when you gonna be back in ohio? just asking so I know when i have to get my front end done.

Posted by: JayBird04

well, it sounds like i got plenty of time then that's when you're done with school right? i think i have one week in may for finals and then i start work.

Posted by: JayBird04

where you work at in ohio? i work on all my breaks, except spring break, at deluxe checking.

Posted by: JayBird04

hopefully we can find some time to ride this summer. do you start working right after school? what hours you usually work?

Posted by: JayBird04

atvguy217, thanks. i am glad you enjoyed it. it was pretty nice haulin' it that way, because it was like a heated trailer. but now that i widened up the rear axle and the front end, i can't do that anymore. it also made the van smell like gas sometimes. and by the way, it is a 1990 dodge caravan.

Posted by: JayBird04

thomez, what happened? I guess we both been away from the connection this summer and we didn't get to ride together. I don't know if you are even checking the posts anymore. If you are still around, let me know if you want to ride sometime. later.

Posted by: SuperSportSteve

How do you get to the trails in Lorain? Is it legal to ride there? The place that their talking about above is called "Elson Street" They are open on the weekends. It is south of Canton just off route 43. Turn right on Elson st. if you're heading south on 43.

Posted by: SuperSportSteve

Elson St. is open on the weekends from about 9 am to 7 pm. You may be able to make special arangements for weekday riding, I'm not sure. I would like to see some more trail maintenance there. There are lots of rutted areas.

Posted by: SuperSportSteve

Where is Hopedale? Any place I can get info on it?

I hardly ever bump into any ladies when I'm out riding...when we do bump into a lady my friends start acting like animals trying to compete for the attention. I'm married, so I really don't care. But my friends transform into some primitive ape with the ability to ride a quad...

You guys in Ohio are close to Hatfield-McCoy - you should try them out. Cool trails, over 400 miles. Wide open or extreme trails. Check out their web site at www.trailsheaven.com

Posted by: thomez

Hey Jay,

I'm from very close to your area, about a 10 minute drive. Actually I played soccer there in Mantua for a few years as a kid. The only bad thing is that I am another male rider and I don't know many femalre riders around here either. I have one female friend that rides but she doesn't have her own bike. She'd sit on the back of mine if I ever invited her to but I hate riding double. You always have to worry about beating the crap outta them! Anyway, are you looking for any male riders to ride with? Nobody here in Windham rides except some older guys who just like to play in the mudd with Grizz's and Sportsman 700s - to me that is quite boring! Let me know - Thanks

Posted by: thomez

Hey Jay,

I have a Wolverine, so I ride trails, mud, and hills. Fast or technical trail riding being my favorite. I might be purchasing a sport quad (Raptor or Predator) sometime soon, but I go back to school in New Orleans here in 3 weeks. After that I can't really ride at all until next spring I live in a small town in the same county as you, it is about 15-20 miles to your east, along the Portage/Trumbull county border. Garrettsville or Hiram ring a bell? If not, the closest thing to call it would be Ravenna, which is 20 mins from here. I am probably going riding next Sunday at a place just south of Canton. I have been there once and I recommend it. It consists of 380 acres of trails, with quite a few decent hills, some mud, and 2 flat fields, one of which has a set of double jumps. It costs 10 bucks and all you have to do is sign a waiver and wear a helmet. Not bad at all. My family and I had a blast last time we went, it had probably been the best place we have found to ride, even better than what we have uncovered in West Virginia so far. If you guys are interested in coming there and riding I can get you directions or whatever. Trust me, it's worth the 10 bucks.

Posted by: thomez

I think the guy has it open every day. I know for sure that it is open every weekend. We were one of the first people there when we went, and that was at about 9 in the morning. I wouldn't go much before then because I doubt he will be up and running yet. The guy has you sign the waivers, he gives you a rinky-dink one page map (which I had no clue where I was on the whole day anywayz), and makes sure you have a helmet to wear. Then, you just park in one of the 2 lots and ride anywhere on the property you want, no strings attatched. They leave you alone and don't really care what you do out there, as long as you aren't getting hurt and trying to sue When we were there we saw a lot of dirt bikers as well as sport quad riders, and a fair share of 4x4s running around as well. Most of my family has bigger 4 wheel drive bikes - uncle rides a 400 Bayou 4x4 (the dinosaur of 4 wheelers), other uncle rides a 400 Arctic Cat 4x4 (new), aunt rides a 250 Trailblazer, uncle's g/f rides a 400 Prairie, grandpa rides a 650 Prarie V-twin, and I ride my Wolvy. They trail ride (too slowly) but we have fun. I can get you directions to this place soon, I didn't pay attention as we drove there. It was after getting 2 hours of sleep... let's just say it was a long Sat. night before a Sunday ride. Ask anything else about the place that you want, I dunno what else to say about it. I can get you the name and directions as soon as I talk to my uncle again about going next Sunday. Also, I'm about 10-15 mins from Mantua myself. As a kid I played soccer at St. Joseph's there off Pioneer Trail.

Posted by: thomez

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm hoping to make it down there next summer for sure!

Posted by: thomez

I'll be there this Sunday if anyone else will be. I ride my white Wolverine - you'll hear me before you see me The rest of the family has 4x4s. Gramps has his red Prarie 650, uncle has a green AC 400, other uncle has blue Bayou 400, aunt has 250 Trailblazer, other guy has 500 AC, his son has 500 AC, uncle's woman has Prarie 400. Hope to see someone there from here Thanks for the wishes Jay, housework sucks, but maybe you can go another weekend. Good luck.

Posted by: thomez

Last time, there was few. Like .. maybe 5 and 4 were wives and the other was my friend. Nothing for me or you to enjoy. I'll let you know about tomorrow.

Posted by: thomez

Just got back from riding. Total female's spotted = 4. One was my aunt, one was standing in the parking lot (a big girl, might I say) and 2 others on the back of sport quads with their boyfriends. That was all she wrote today. Nothing exciting except the riding. A kid got his bike too close to the edge of a huge drop off and it went over with him. He lasted about 20 feet and his bike went another 60 or so straight down. We had 2 winches hooked to him and I helped to keep him straight with my Wolvy to get it out. Darn Banshee riders It had broken some plastic and bent the handlebars but all in all wasn't too bad. He was riding it later in the day. I laid mine down once climbing a steep hill - jumped a hump and then landed in a rut and it went on it's side. Not a big deal but it was hard to keep from sliding back down the hill 80 feet or so. We got ahold of it and I started it up and got it out pretty easy. My uncle got his sideways on a hill right next to it - he was in a slightly worse situation but we got him before it rolled away. Good day of riding! There were probably 75 or so people there today all together. The guy that runs the place was running out of waivers. Let me know if you want to go sometime, anyone. I love it there.

Posted by: thomez

Jay,

We just go for the day and ride. It is only like an hour from my house so it is nice to go in the morning and load up the wheeler and you are there early and can stay til dusk I imagine. It really is worth the 10 bucks. I don't think you can stay overnight though, but it is close enough to you that you could drive back for a second day if you wanted pretty easy. It would be about an hour for you as well.

Posted by: thomez

Go south on 43 and turn right onto Elson Street. It has a small sign that says "Elson Street Riding Park" or something like that. It is just south of Canton a few miles. If you go soon let me know, I'd love to go again too. Maybe we could contact them and go one day during the week next week? Let me know

Posted by: thomez

Jay,

That would be great. I'm working on possibly buying an '02 Cannondale Speed and I'm going to want to take it out a few times if I do get it. Wish me luck.

Posted by: thomez

Thanks Jay, I'm workin on it. Either an 02 or 03 Speed is what I'm eying up. You'll have to be careful or you'll only see the back of it if we ever get to go riding

Posted by: thomez

I was thinkin bout it but I don't think any of the family is going. Why, would you want to go? I don't have any plans cept gettin my Nova running but that can be after riding.

Posted by: thomez

Yeah, we went and I think we all had a good time! I did - I raced around the trails with a Raptor, Z400, and Banshee all morning and then later we played around on the little double jumps and the "drag strip" to the side of them, and found some nice hill climbs to boot! A great day for riding for me!

PS: I can't wait to get the 'Dale out there next year!

Posted by: thomez

LOL ... sorry Jay ... if I was home I'd bring the new 'Dale over. I heard they are carnivores and love fresh Raptor

Posted by: thomez

I haven't been within a few hundred miles of it yet. You'll have to check back on that one

I think you outta just trade that Raptor in for one of those brand new Speeds ... you could probably trade even up and have a lot nicer bike

Posted by: thomez

We'll be sure to ride sometime this coming summer. I'll be ready

Remember, stock for stock, from what I've read, I've got 5HP and 60 pounds on you, both

Posted by: thomez

Shouldn't be too much of a problem

I'm already buying stuff for the 'Dale. Picked up an Arens steering stem, Durablue Eliminator axle, and working on some long travel shocks right now. Then I'll save up for some Gibson LT A arms. Oh, and gotta get the shocks setup zero preload. I got a whole freakin wish list. Now I just need the money

Posted by: thomez

Sorry, haven't been in Ohio for about 2 1/2 months and can't remember any directions.

Jay ... you are in trouble now.... LOL ... I got a ported/polished larger stainless valved FDO Racing head for the 'Dale coming... supposed to add 6HP to the beast. I'm also in the works of putting my extra Ti4 headpipe together with a Trinity (Supertrapp made) can... the best in the 'Dale business. Oh, and a custom airbox is gonna be on there too. I'm hoping to pull 50HP at the rear wheels with that combo of mods. Nothing internal just the topend, custom map, and exhaust. Let's just put it this way ... you better be able to AT LEAST keep up with the cam modded/piped/airbox lid removed/filtered/jetted YFZ's .... cause my goal is to leave them in roost..... practice on them and then you'll be ready for me in the spring

I just got new shocks for the 'Dale so I have the 2 different setups now. Well I still need to get front A-arms but that will be this winter/spring. I got the Moto Ohlins and an Ohlins rear, both TCS conversion deals with zero-preload. Then I'll have my trail setup and my MX setup and interchange them within a few hours.

FCR deal? Sounds like a good plan to me. 39 ... good for all mods you could put on there in the future too.

I know what you mean about money... I am on a temporary hold right now til I can afford anything else. Got to cover this semesters tuition first... another 4 grand down the pooper. I do work 2 jobs while at school and it helps quite a bit. Still never enough.

I need to win the lottery .........

Posted by: thomez

May...

Posted by: thomez

Yep, that is correct - that's when I get outta school and start the summer job. Woo woo.

Posted by: thomez

Last summer I worked for the Portage County Engineers and plan to do that this summer as well.

I will probably start like a week or so after I get home - I work 4 10 hour days Mon-Thurs and sometimes I do odd jobs on Fri/Sat for extra cash. Probably gonna be riding every weekend this summer - with the new ride it should be a lot of fun.

Hopefully I can afford to get things together with it and get it all put together as I want it...

Posted by: XdeckerX

Very nice. Me and a bunch of buddys run around here in lorain ohio. There are plenty of trails and usually round up some women out here. You ever ride up this way?

Posted by: XdeckerX

Lorain isnt an official place, but people have been going there for 40 years. Never talked to anyone that ever was caught. Parking with trailers on side streets is common. NOT POSTED

Posted by: XdeckerX

mud, speed, climbing (here and there), etc. They are the old Lorain dumps.

Posted by: truckpaul

Elson St Riding Park, just south of Canton, from 77 take Rt30 east to Rt43 south, about 10 miles turn right on Elson St. There is a small "Elson Street Riding Park" sign underneath a larger pizza place sign. Not too easy to see. Turn right on Elson St and it deadends into the riding park.

Posted by: truckpaul

Elson St is open every weekend around 8am. You can ride on the weekdays too, but you have to contact to gate guy to have him come and open it. You can either see him on the weekend and arrange a time, or his number is also posted on the gate. He only lives a few minutes from there and will usually come down anytime to open it up. Rumble is usually a pretty good time. My only complaint is that it seems the track is getting pretty lame. Not too much that's difficult any more. There used to be challenging hills and more difficult riding, but now it seems to us more of an endurance ride than a technical one.

Posted by: truckpaul

Darn, we had planned on trying Hopedale next month! oh well. I think we're going to try to get to WV next year also. It's kinda hard for my friends to up and leave their wife and kids, so long trips are hard for us to plan. We won't be at Elson St this weekend, i have a military obligation, but we'll probably be there next weekend. Let me know if you like it.

Posted by: princessquesta

Can anyone tell me the general directions to the trails off of 43 south of Canton.............Minerva? Waynesburg?

Posted by: princessquesta

Thanks alot..........Hub and I see you do Rumble also. Great Time huh!!!!! Do you happen to know the times for riding at Elson Street?

Posted by: princessquesta

If you want challenging hills and tough riding you should try Hopedale Sportsmans club. We just did that 2 weeks ago and it is a very tough ride ,only for the experienced riders. They were going to have another rally in Nov. but it is cancelled for logging. You should try it next year. We recently came back from The Hatfield McCoy trails.........they were a great time. Thanks for the info on Elson Street, we are going to head there this weekend!

Posted by: princessquesta

I will tell you this...............for the Hopedale Ride two weeks ago, there were ten of us...........all men and myself. Out of the ten, 7 were Z400's and maybe two of them got up the hills! I sat and filed my nails waiting for them to get up the tough ones! Just kidding...........but there are some very difficult hills and mud holes! All in all this is a great ride, and we made friends with a few members who can have 7 people come out and ride for 10.00 all day when they want. We will be doing that in a week or two! Thanks alot!

Posted by: princessquesta

Hopedale is near Adena, home of Rumble on the Ridge! It is about 15 minutes from Steubenville, west on Route 22.

Jaybird,

i love the pic of the raptor in the back of the suv thats hularius (sp?)!!!
